AS THIS ISSUE HITS NEWSSTANDS, I will be coming up on the three-year mark of my journey with Nebraska Wedding Day, and in taking some time to reflect, I have come to realize that one of the most rewarding aspects of this career is the acquaintances I make and have made along the way. I started working for this amazing brand as the world, and especially events, were being put on hold. And in such a difficult time, it was also a time of growth—a time of stepping out of our creative comfort zones, learning how to come together in a time of separation, and finding a renewed perspective and appreciation of what matters most: the people in our lives.
While most daily routines have returned to normal, a new outlook on what we do day to day had a lasting effect, specifically as we cautiously forayed back into safely coordinating styled and fashion shoots. This issue features two incredible shoots that our team was lucky enough to be involved in (“Still Waters Run Deep” page 22, and “Summer Splendor” page 28), and despite the stunning final images, behind the scenes isn’t always glamorous. Whether shooting in the sweltering summer sun or the biting winter wind, going from dawn to dusk—the teams we work with deserve the utmost respect. And it is also those days that are the most invigorating and motivating, thanks to those teams—the creatives who join forces with dogged determination to accomplish something spectacular. It’s the photographers, the planners, the models and the vendors. It’s reconnecting with familiar faces and making new friends. It’s the electric feeling we share when we get shots that are indescribably dazzling (Check out the “Still Waters Run Deep” reel below!) It’s bonding with working parents over baby stories on set or spying a mother-to-be’s still-secret baby bump. Hearing about their passions, their families, and their goals—it is these talented individuals and joyous moments in between shots that bring life to each issue, and at the end of those long days, it’s the heartfelt hugs all around that continue to inspire me every day.
Cheers to all of these unique and beautiful souls that I have been so blessed to work with, and thank you for all that you do to make weddings and photo shoots so magical !

THE UNTAMED BEAUTY of northwestern Nebraska has a romance all its own, and a wedding at Galyen Barns in Hay Springs is not only enhanced by that beauty but also reflects the nostalgic mood of the Wild West. Native wildflowers, earth tones of tan and brown with sky-blue accompaniments and the homey ambience of a family farm will make this a wedding to remember.
1. A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE
Galyen Barns, a fourth generation working family farm, is home to the Galyen family, who live a farm-to-table lifestyle. The space has been transformed by Deborah Galyen into a unique, rustic venue. Your wedding day activities might include a ride on a hay wagon, a few games of corn hole or a photo session by Grandpa’s antique pickup truck.
2. BE OUR GUESTS
Serving as table linens are serape blankets in blues and browns, bearing a design element that is a nod to the Native American culture in the vicinity. Renovated barns and other outbuildings have been transformed into reception and ceremony areas along with getting-ready rooms for bride and groom.
3. BEAUTY IN THE BOUQUET
“I wanted to capture the nostalgia of a simple life inspired by nature and one’s immediate surroundings,” says Deb Galyen. “I mostly chose naturally dried weeds, wildflowers and feathers for the floral element. I chose a bit of brighter blue pampas grass for a tiny hint of drama and fla i r.” A large, natural-colored thistle along with some dyed bunny tail grasses make up the groom’s boutonniere.
4. SIMPLY SWEET
Elegant in its simplicity, this three-tiered cake takes on special charm with the signature dried and dyed grasses and florals. The blues, browns and tans pick up the colors in the table linens, and centerpieces in glass bottles advance the day’s shabby-chic vibe.
5.
Delicate images of prairie grasses and other botanicals from the region enhance the stationery suite, bringing a little more outdoor flair to the wedding’s essence.
Bride and groom share a tender moment as newlyweds. Her gown was chosen for its peasant design and the flirty little keyhole front. The scoop neck, short sleeves and ruched bodice add to her boho look, topped off by the perfect white hat with contrasting blue and brown ribbon. The groom brings Western flair to his ensemble with denim vest, black jeans and distinctive bolo tie.

Amber Lea Acres’ owner Amber Palla believes “It’s not just about a wedding day, but a wedding weekend.” Drawing from her and her husband, Julian’s, own “glamping” experiences in Zimbabwe and South Africa, the pair has created the perfect locale for a weekend getaway, wedding or honeymoon. Located in Tekamah on 42 acres of rolling hills with cottonwood trees and picturesque sunsets overlooking a pond, the property has three unique tents for the perfect glam camping experience. Each tent has a split heating and cooling system to accommodate almost any weather during the season, mid-April to Early December. A mini-fridge and an en suite bathroom including a shower and clawfoot bathtub elevate the comfort level.
Indoor and outdoor spaces are available for weddings and receptions. The Crib is a quaint
barn that offers a fanciful, intimate space for up to 40. A large concrete patio with Edison bulbs surrounds the barn and is the perfect space to host a band, have a glitzy cocktail hour, or a tranquil picnic spread. Finley Hall is a gathering space with an open hall, a bar area and a covered patio that can host up to 60 guests, an ideal setting for a rehearsal dinner, bridal party prep zone or a gift-opening breakfast. An event tent can be put up anywhere on the property for additional wedding components, from ceremony to reception.
Couples who marry at Amber Lea Acres receive a free night’s stay post-wedding festivities. If a newly wedded couple chooses ALA as a honeymoon getaway, they receive champagne and a charcuterie spread on the house.

—Angel KiddJust 18 blocks from on-trend Omaha salon BUNGALOW/8 comes a new salon in its network, Satellite. In addition to hairdressing, airbrush makeup and brow services like those offered at BUNGALOW/8, Satellite also offers spray tanning and special skincare services – especially desirable for bridesto-be six months to a week before their wedding. Esthetician Skye will help determine which treatments and at-home care will allow you to have radiant, glowing skin on your wedding day.
Experts at Satellite suggest starting to book hairdressing sessions as much as a year out to coordinate various services. They recommend a bridal hair trial at least a month prior to the date, so if any custom clip-in extensions need to be ordered or if hair color ought to be adjusted, there’s time for that to happen.
Personnel at Satellite stay on top of trends with continuing education in salon services. One growing trend they see brides seeking are sleek, chic styles, like a French twist with center-parted, face-framing tendrils.
Satellite offers both on-site and in-salon hairdressing and makeup services. And like Bungalow/8, Satellite can meet the needs of bridal parties both large and small. Their salon is also chicly designed to ensure you’ll have gorgeous getting-ready photos. satellitesalon.com, Omaha

Rippling linens evoke gentle waves lapping at the shore, while seashelllike chargers are a beachcombing bride’s flight of fancy. In a clearing by the lake, a ceremony installation of towering grasses and dried willow branches could have grown right on the spot. The lady of the hour, in a corseted and tiered “Diadore” gown, looks just as radiantly natural, with a whisper of wind carrying her veil. Shades of sunset in palest peach and sky blue waft across this minimalist cake, with indigo mussel shells, callicarpa berries and Spanish moss for organic texture and earthy intrigue.

GOWNS FROM NOA BRIDAL AND FRESH FLORALS BY KINFLOWER EMBRACE ALL THAT’S MODERN AND DISTINCTIVE.
Flower, meet power: Our spirited bride doesn’t break her stride in on-trend lug soles. The versatile boots add edge to this contemporary ensemble, and, in classic white, make the perfect foil for a delicate bouquet of blush roses and white ranunculus enveloped in baby’s breath. Who says you can’t be dainty and strong?
For a timeless look with modern updates, the “Lottie” by Daughters of Simone fits the bill. The gown features a fitted silk corset bodice with defined boning, ruched top trim and ruffled detail to accentuate the waist, topped off by a diaphanous gold-flecked veil. The high-contrast bouquet features barely blush roses and crisp white orchids with fiery ranunculus and roses—and the star of the show, a softly speckled pink anthurium.
OPPOSITE
Going green never looked so good. The “Le Lilac” gown by Hera Couture breathes romance with layers of hand-cut, hand-sewn flouncy tulle. A deep V in front and back, mesh insets and a belted waist add sass to the tiers of pistachio sweetness. A dreamy cloud of baby’s breath serves as her charmingly unconventional bouquet. Our bride holds a vintage mother-of-pearl clutch. Adding a statement piece like this makes your look one of a kind—just like you. *

How can your day be anything but cheery when it’s awash in nature’s happiest color? Our bride wears a golden headband fashioned from Ming asparagus fern and acacia, a lively accent for her lacy boho gown from White & Ivory Bridal. Our dapper groom sports a snappy acacia bowtie.
THIS PAGE (clockwise from top left) Go retro with an exuberant mellow yellow invite with a kicky ’70s font.
The eyes have it in makeup by Alicia’s Makeup Artistry. Luxuriant lashes fringe delicate amber eyeshadow, and a barely-there foundation shows off her peachy lip.
Elevated on a canary pedestal, the simplest lemon layer cake (with lemon frosting, of course) reaches new heights of sophistication, festively adorned with golden sprigs of bunny tails, acacia, Ming fern and billy buttons.
THIS PAGE (clockwise from top left)
Art deco-style brass earrings accent our bride’s serene glow. Artfully unkempt curls finish her natural look.
Our bride is radiant in a “Lenora” gown by Wtoo, with beaded circle lace, open keyhole back and puddle train.

Café by day, venue by night, Omaha’s Café Postale, a restored mail terminal, is a chic, historic setting for the on-trend couple. Rounding out the day’s impeccable display is a golden bouquet of floral sunshine, including daffodils, orchids, ranunculus and billy buttons.
We want to try to show brides that colors can be used in a variety of ways. Yellow has always had a soft place in my heart; it is my favorite ‘pop’ color in addition to blue, probably because it is not very popular, and I love to be in the minority!

THE STORIED HISTORY OF THE LAVISHLY APPOINTED LINCOLN COMMERCIAL CLUB BALLROOM SETS THE TONE FOR A DAY OF CLASSIC ROMANCE.
To create a divine day at the Commercial Club Ballroom, Lindsey Raridon of Rose Joy kept the décor minimal, with a few well-placed pops of color inspired by shades synonymous with the legendary Greek island of Santorini: bougainvillea pinks, fresh greens and sunny yellows. Natural light from the towering windows floods the ballroom, while golden urns of silvery olive branches transport us to an Aegean paradise. Her petite bouquet is bold and bright, her simple gowns simply stunning. Gift boxes for the bridal party are a sweet sentiment, thoughtfully curated with items from Rose Joy’s shop in downtown Lincoln.
Lemony accents complete the Greek theme in an illustrated invitation suite and desserts by Flour Shoppe Cookie Co.
The Lincoln Commercial Club’s recent restoration has returned the 1910 building to its elegant formality, but has pumped up the glamour from when it was the city’s staid men-only business club. Original architectural features include five 20-foot tall wood-clad Palladian windows, an ornately coffered ceiling and triple Juliet balconies from which to overlook the Ballroom and its adjacent bar and library.

CEREMONY & RECEPTION: Arbor Day Farm, Nebraska City HONEYMOON: Tucson, Arizona
Sarah Nyberg and Edward Spencer found each other through Tinder in 2019, while both were attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Ed popped the question about a year later, during the pandemic. He planned to propose on a hill overlooking his family’s farm, but bad weather squelched that, so instead he dropped to one knee next to their couch halfway through a Harry Potter movie. Their wedding took place under a cloudless sky for an elegant al fresco ceremony with stunning views. Sarah wore her mother’s diamond earrings from her 1989 wedding and a diamond necklace from the groom’s mother as her something borrowed. Sarah and Ed chose a spot in the forest
by the lodge for a sentimental first look, where the pair savored their time together before the ceremony began. The palette was based on the magnolia tree as a nod to the bride’s Southern background. “There was a big magnolia tree outside the house [where I grew up] in South Carolina, and I knew it would be my wedding flower. even as a little girl,” she says. After their sunset wedding, guests toasted the happy couple with a signature cocktail, “The Hank,” an espresso martini with tequila named after their blue heeler pup. For a cinematic ending to their chic nuptials, the newlyweds jumped in a classic red car, a Nyberg family heirloom, to drive off as husband and wife.

HONEYMOON: Key West, Florida
Sydney Robertson and Bret Hathaway met on Cinco de Mayo of 2019 while having margaritas with mutual friends at Mula in Omaha, shared an Uber, became fast friends and eventually began dating. “Bret is so easy to love,” Sydney says. The next year, on a spontaneous trip to Key West, Bret surprised Sydney and asked her to marry him as the two shared a bench overlooking the ocean. The couple’s mothers helped make Sydney’s vision come to life. Wearing a custom Augusta Jones gown with a matching veil, Sydney walked down the aisle to music performed by two good friends, one
playing the violin and the other singing and playing piano. Peonies—the bride’s dream flower—were a focal point, with the bride holding blossoms in blush hues and bridesmaids holding white blooms. The reception had a dreamy ambience with candlelit tables, lush florals and elegant chandeliers casting a warm glow. The couple’s first dance together was a favorite moment for Sydney, as was her dance with her dad. “It was truly the best day of our lives,” she says. The newlyweds jetted back to Key West for their honeymoon, paying homage to that beautiful early chapter of their relationship.

Caitlin Schroeder and Ryan Weatherly knew each other for years but didn’t really connect until one day in the high school lunch line, which led to daily chats and, eventually, romance. After seven years, Ryan popped the question during a family vacation to South Dakota. On their summer wedding day, Caitlin wore an elegant A-line gown accessorized with a classic cathedral-length veil. Abundant flowers and white drapery adorned the ceremony arbor to complement the dreamy venue. The bride walked down the aisle holding a bouquet wrapped with an urn necklace as a
tribute to her late best friend, Lexi. Bridesmaids wore light green gowns for an elegant contrast with the blush-toned florals. After the ceremony, the couple went off to take photos, which became one of their favorite parts of the day. To really wow guests and surprise her husband, Caitlin not only changed into a fun party dress but cut her long hair just before the reception. Wine bottles on each table bore photos of the couple throughout childhood, and an on-site photo booth was a hit with guests, so everyone had a souvenir of the Weatherlys’ wonderful wedding.

“I have the perfect guy. You will either be best friends or get married.” That was a professional matchmaker’s prediction to Jenny Jessen about Zac Triemert. “Turns out she was right about both,” Jenny says. Sharing a similar background of divorce and single co-parenting, the two were very deliberate their relationship. They dated for six years, slowly blending their families and falling madly in love. Zac’s heartfelt proposal with flowers and champagne came in 2020 after an evening strolling through Omaha’s Old Market in the Whiskey Walkabout. Their brunch ceremony at Le Bouillon and reception at Brickway Brewery & Distillery (which
Zac owns) were filled with special details. Jenny wore a copper-colored custom gown with intricate lace and floral appliqué. “I loved the look of something elegant and tasteful with heavy emphasis on florals,” the bride says. Jenny’s son Jake, 14, walked her down the aisle, and the ceremony included a script the bride and groom wrote. To symbolize the blending of families, a child from each couple poured wine into a carafe for a toast during the ceremony. Instead of a guest book, the couple opted for a vintage phone that recorded messages from each guest, creating a vocal souvenir to remember the day their families merged.

Natalie Michael and Jeremy Hambright’s celestial wedding was an enchanting event at the Moonstruck Ranch in Fort Calhoun, the bride’s parents’ home. The ranch welcomed guests with an array of florals in pink and white, fit for the fairytale-inspired nuptials.
Natalie and Jeremy’s daughters, Aleena and Keira, were flower girls and loved playing a special part in their parents’ day. The bride and her father walked up a grand stairway lined with greenery and candles to the aisle where her husband-to-be eagerly waited at the floral arch.
Cocktail hour in the courtyard was the pinnacle of elegance, with
flowers floating in the pool and a cigar bar setup, a tradition in the bride’s Italian family. As the celebration continued, guests found their names on one of three glam gold mirrors. Two more mirrored signs read “Happily Ever After” and “Let Love Sparkle Under the Night Sky” to play into the astronomical vibe of the day. Reception tables adorned with bright blooms and candles set a romantic tone for the rest of the evening. A print map of the star alignments on their wedding night served as a guest book and a unique keepsake. Sparklers were a bright sendoff to conclude their magical day.

RECEPTION: A View in Fontenelle Hills, Bellevue HONEYMOON: Riviera Maya, Mexico
After a first date full of deep conversation, it was clear there was something special between Alexandra Tran and Austin Gowen, who met at the University of Nebraska Omaha. “It is the kind of relationship where you just know this is forever, and you don’t have to look anywhere else for your person because you found them,” Alex says. Nearly four years later, Austin proposed to Alex on the pier where they became boyfriend and girlfriend. Their spring wedding day was clear and sunny, arriving just as the bride and groom were in the midst of nursing school (Alex) and a Ph.D. program (Austin). Before their “I do’s,” Alex and
Austin shared a private first look. “It felt like our own piece of the day we could keep to ourselves,” she says. At the altar, Alex’s sister and cousin were among the bridesmaids, wearing silk champagne-colored dresses, while groomsmen opted for light gray attire, another variation on the neutral palette. At the reception at A View in Fontenelle Hills, natural light poured in through grand windows, highlighting the minimalist design accented with lush greenery and pops of gold. As a nod to Alex’s Vietnamese heritage, the newlyweds donned traditional attire called áo dài in vibrant red, representing luck and prosperity. *
