This issue takes you from Newberg to Portland and Columbia River Gorge to Bend, allowing us to highlight talent from across the state, all the while figuratively hanging the sign “the only rule, is no rules” which allowed the creative teams, from photographers to florists to stylists, to flex their creativity and use it louder than ever before.
For our styled shoot, Alston Mayger Events transformed The Allison Inn & Spa with an amazing team who showed us just how pretty a plan B...can be. In “Final Flourish,” we see beautiful gowns from Anna’s Bridal, True Society and Elizabeth Dye featuring delicate flowers, rolling ruffles and lace. In Unveiled, we found beautiful and delicate details inspired by Chinese décor. Fashion was a huge part of how real couples are personalizing their big days—just check out the gowns in our Real Weddings, starting on page 95. Find out what we learned about entertainment on page 32, or head to page 27 to get a peek at the latest in shoe news.
Ironically, as we planned the execution of our shoots, we ran into the variety of weather the Pacific Northwest has to offer, from blue skies to drizzles of rain and a dusting of hail. But the wedding professionals we worked with weathered the storm, found the silver lining and seized the opportunity to highlight all that Oregon has to offer. All of this is to say, embrace the moment, rain or shine. It’s your day—make it your way.
Before I close, a not-to-be missed feature for all the couples planning is Best of 2023. With more than 5,000 ballots cast, by both couples and industry insiders, these finalists and winners were chosen for their creativity, attention to detail and impeccable service they bring to your wedding day.
Now…plan away and be sure to share with us as you do @oregonbridemag.
Big hugs and congratulations on your engagement!

In a harmonious fusion of fashion and flora, Caroline Reusen Flowers, Aideux Bridal and RTFaith Photography created an enchanting ode to Mother Nature. The team was inspired to design an organic moment “that moved and flowed like rivers through a whimsical forest.” The bridal gown is adorned with Spanish moss, muted florals and dried ferns in a delicate design that exudes this romantic, woodland vision.
According to Rebecca Foster of Indigo Event Design, this stunning styled shoot at Tendue was inspired by culturally and historically significant color combinations and patterns that have stood the test of time. The talented team of vendors created a truly unique look, incorporating a mix of vintage china plates, candle sticks and vases that have been prominent in both eastern and western cultures for hundreds of years. The color palette of the design drew its inspiration from the Rose Medallion China pattern, which was originally created in 1820. “We fell in love with the rose pink, chartreuse and jade green, and mandarin orange color scheme,” Foster says, “a color combination you rarely see you today, and might even describe as fresh and unique, and yet something that was so popular hundreds of years ago.” Layering of vintage plates with distinct patterns in the same colorway brought personality and flair to the tablescape, accented by solid linens so as not to overwhelm the eye. The pièce de résistance was notably the florals by Selva Floral Design—a lively arrangement of mums, ranunculus, poppies and tulips that created a blooming spring table runner.

Perched on 175 verdant acres in the Columbia River Gorge, Skamania Lodge (@skamanialodge) has been a top destination for weddings, as well as honeymoons and pre-wedding getaways, since it opened in 1993. Currently, the lodge’s allure is more robust than ever with new additions to its tree house village and a bold new event space, the Moonlight Pavilion.
The luxurious 2,100-square-foot open-air Moonlight Pavilion is nestled among the trees, yet it includes indoor attributes such as stained-cedar ceilings and rich wood beams, along with built-in fire pits and heat lamps to warm guests on chilly nights. Its prime location in the lodge’s Backyard at Skamania offers a chic option for cocktail hour, but guests can also find a wealth of outdoor activities in the Backyard, such as a disc golf course, axe throwing, a nine-hole short golf course and more. As with all venues at Skamania, reception dinners are curated by the lodge’s award-winning executive chef Zac Janssen and include chef-led meals created on the open-air grill, signature handcrafted cocktails, and locally produced beer and wine.
After tying the knot, escape to Skamania’s tree house village for romance among towering Douglas firs. Three new houses featuring five-star amenities have been built, bringing the village’s total to nine, with more slated to open in 2024. Perched 40 feet above the forest floor, the modern-meets-rustic tree houses are both spacious and intimate, with no detail overlooked. The expansive covered decks, with captivating views of the Cascade Mountains, are the perfect spot for curling up on the wicker-back rocking chairs to commune with the squirrels and birds in the fresh mountain air. All the houses feature an indoor-outdoor fireplace, plush king-size beds and private fire pits—perfect for s’mores and starlit talks. The new tree houses also include a cozy queen-size sleeping nook, which is surrounded by windows and framed by draping that mimics an outdoor tent. Cap off the perfect wedding weekend with a stop at the Waterleaf Spa for a lomi lomi massage or an anti-aging facial—highly recommended before the wedding, as it leaves skin radiant!
Legendary bridal designer Pnina Tornai is turning her talents to a bride’s finishing touch: shoes. Created in collaboration with Naturalizer, her debut shoe collection, Pnina Tornai for Naturalizer, combines couture and comfort. “When I saw the quality of the shoes and felt how comfortable they are, I knew instantly that that was the feeling I wanted to share with my brides around the world,” says Tornai of her partnership with the iconic comfort-footwear company. The high-fashion shoe line features details such as voluptuous bows, crystal embellishments and delicate laces—with the sole of each shoe featuring a handwritten message from Tornai. The silk shoes are available in a variety of colors, from bridal white to black, champagne, silver, rose gold and even a bold pink. And with Naturalizer’s attention to comfort and fit, Pnina Tornai heels are sure to be an all-day affair, from the aisle to the last dance.
When planning their special day, Jenny Forrest and Nolan Ahern wanted to show their guests, many of whom came from the East Coast, everything they love about Oregon summers. And there could not have been a better choice than an August day at Sunriver Resort to do just that; the resort is near to Black Butte, where Jenny grew up vacationing in the summers. Because the couple has enjoyed many stunning sunsets together in Oregon, they wanted the celebration’s overall design and colors to reflect that vibrancy. Beautiful and casual at the same time, the soirée’s palette of sunset hues included peach, coral and copper, with accents of raisin. The sunny scheme extended to every detail of the day: arrangements of dahlias, zinnias, asters, foxgloves, snapdragons and lush garden roses; the bridesmaids’ dresses; verdant tablescapes; and a lovely escort wall with pops of color. Jenny, who grew up in Eugene, wanted to incorporate as much of Oregon as possible. Affectionate acknowledgements of the state were Jenny’s white Nike high-top sneakers; a welcome rafting trip on the Deschutes for guests; and dancing to “Shout” at the reception, which is played at every University of Oregon* football game in Autzen Stadium in Jenny’s native Eugene.
“Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn.”

Sentimental touches are a cornerstone of any wedding celebration. If you’re seeking inspiration to make your special day unforgettable, take a look at how newlyweds Kelsey Wickman and Andre Wolf brought meaningful details into their wedding to honor their families and celebrate their love. The couple’s wedding took place at The Foundry at Oswego Pointe on a summer day, and the celebration was a bold reflection of the season. Darling Dahlia Florals designed stunning arrangements that combined vivid magenta, elegant emerald green and deep-sea blue tones. One striking element among the florals served as an elegant tribute to Kelsey’s recently departed grandfather and his 100-year-old wheat farm. Individual stalks of wheat were intricately woven into floral elements, from the bouquet to the centerpieces, creating an unconventional yet beautiful homage to his legacy.
For a special “something borrowed,” Kelsey incorporated buttons from her grandmother’s wedding gown onto her own dress, carefully placing the buttons along the length of her gown’s train. This unique and heartfelt detail ensured that Kelsey’s grandmother’s spirit was present with her throughout the entire celebration.
Andre also contributed special details to the day. One of the highlights was a bespoke whiskey bottle with a custom label showcasing the pair’s favorite engagement photo, taken at Rowena Crest overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. This thoughtful detail imbued the occasion with yet more meaning, and gave guests a glimpse into the couple’s love story.
To give the seating arrangements an intimate air, Kelsey and Andre wrote personalized notes to each and every guest, demonstrating their appreciation and thoughtfulness. This gesture went above and beyond the traditional seating cards, acknowledging each guest personally. Those special people were certain to cherish this memento, a reminder of this wedding day and how valued they are by the couple.
Kelsey and Andre’s wedding offers a wealth of inspiration for those seeking creative ways to show appreciation for their loved ones. From personalized details to sincere gestures, Kelsey and Andre showed that the little details can make a big impact.

FIRST LOOK: This is an opportunity to privately (with or without the photographer) see your significant other for the first time on your wedding day before the ceremony. Not only is it a calming, intimate moment and a magical photo opportunity, but the first look is a huge time-saver when it comes to taking wedding photos, allowing couples to enjoy more of their wedding day together.
STRIKE: The term “strike” is vendor talk for teardown at the end of the night. Vendors will remove installations after the event. This removal will often need to be scheduled in a staggered manner among vendors, depending on the complexity and size of the event.
VENDOR MEALS: These are meals provided for the wedding vendors at the event. This may include planners, photographers, videographers, musicians—anyone working at the event.
CUTTING CAKE: “This is typically on display for the couple to cut into during the cake-cutting ceremony, but not meant to feed the entire guest count,” says Johannah Zuniga of Dream Cakes. If an enormous wedding cake for dessert isn’t a priority or in the budget for you, a small “cutting
cake” to follow tradition, with a separate dessert for guests, can be a happy alternative.
STYLED SHOOT:
For styled photo shoots, wedding or elopement designs are created by wedding vendors to inspire real couples with ideas; they also give vendors the opportunity to showcase their work.
TOSS BOUQUET: The bouquet toss often leaves wedding bouquets a wilted mess—not ideal for preservation. “Your bridal bouquet is carefully arranged and often full of delicate stems that aren’t meant to be thrown around,” says Morgan Westerberg-Jackson of Blomstra Floral Co. “Toss bouquets often contain flowers that are a bit hardier and compact to make it easier to cast over your head.”
LAST DANCE:
Couples are generally so busy on their wedding day, they often don’t get a chance to just take it all in and be together. Unlike the first dance, with all eyes on you, a last dance offers couples
a private moment to be together as their wedding day comes to a close, typically before the send-off. Plus, the occasion makes an amazing photo op.
INVITATION SUITE: This refers to the package of all the standard paper components that come with your invitations. The suite generally includes the invitations, the RSVP card, any details cards and envelopes— all tucked into one envelope.
You bring your gown; we’ll bring the ideal wedding experience within city limits.
COLOR IS TRENDING AS GROOMS OPT FOR BOLDLY HUED SUITS, COOL PATTERNS AND STYLISH BOUTONNIÈRES

Jake Dalton donned a mustard-colored suit for his nuptials at Coopers Hall, a fitting shade for the bride’s bright yellow-orange bouquet. Event Team Entertainment: “I recommend that you spend some extra time and interview a variety of DJs and/or bands. It’s a one-shot opportunity to have the time of your life. You should get exactly what you want. I recommend you work closely with your DJ. You will find they are a wealth of knowledge and have tons of ideas and experiences to share. You should provide some feedback, but also place some trust in your DJ. I always remind each couple that it should be a fun and collaborative process.”
—Shawn Whittemore, Owner and PresidentLit Productions: “Never underestimate the power of great entertainment. Every guest remembers weddings as being beautiful, but the difference between just a beautiful wedding and a great wedding is how they felt in that moment by how much fun they had. For entertainers, make sure you pick someone that matches the energy you want for your wedding...eighty percent of guests will remember the entertainment the most out of all the vendors at a wedding. Lastly, if any vendor doesn’t have a contract for you to sign, run!”
—Jordan Morales, OwnerBlue Wave Band: “It’s helpful to have a general idea of what you’re looking for: your venue aesthetic, guest count and what kind of music you like. From there, an experienced band can help guide you on what band size is perfect for your event and can help put together a set list of songs and genres that you and your guests will love.”
—David Dawda, Head ProducerThe After Party Band: “It’s helpful to have an idea of what you’d like the vibe to be for the night and to have clear expectations for your entertainment. Don’t
be afraid to ask your entertainment vendors questions about what they typically do or recommend. Every band and DJ is different. Ask for videos of live footage if you can. Meet the owners or leaders if you can. Get a clear sense of who you are going to be working with, not only in the process leading up to your wedding day, but also on your wedding day.” —Tristin Rupp, Band Consultant
and SingerParadox Productions: “My biggest piece of advice for couples above all else is to enjoy the process. Take the venue and wedding planner vendor referral lists seriously. The wedding industry is small, and venues and planners know who is worth working with.”
—Zacch WilliamsEvent Team Entertainment:
“A DJ or band is NOT just music. They are uniquely skilled artists that have taken years to fine-tune their skills. If you are hiring a DJ, make sure you ask if they are also a qualified spokesperson and can be your Master of Ceremonies. Today’s DJs are also providing sound support for ceremonies with speakers, microphones and music, so the rates quoted typically include more than what you might expect.”
—Shawn Whittemore, Owner and PresidentLit Productions: “When you are booking entertainment, you should make sure you are aware of any rules the venue might have about sound levels. Another thing to remember is that if the wedding is outside, any sound equipment needs
your best
What are some things that couples typically are unaware of when it comes toKEEP THE DANCE FLOOR PACKED WITH THESE TIPS
some form of cover/shade. Heat can put a lot of digital equipment like a DJ laptop into a huge pause or even distort the signal coming through speakers, but rain is something that can kill equipment altogether.”
—Jordan Morales, OwnerBlue Wave Band : “First, it works best if a couple gives their entertainers a list of three to five must-play songs and favorite genres. Then let the band use that guidance to work their magic reading the room on the night. Second, some venues are subject to noise ordinances or have decibel restrictions, especially if they are in a populated area. Make sure to plan your day-of schedule accordingly so you can maximize the party time and won’t be surprised by an early cutoff.”
—David Dawda, Head ProducerThe Afterparty Band: “Most couples don’t understand the difference between bands or DJs that are a family or have a single owner/operator versus ones that are corporations, agencies, or franchises that have a roster of DJs or a huge roster of musicians that they will call upon to do a date. It is crucial to ask your vendors who you will be working with and who you will be getting for your wedding, and if they practice together.” —Tristin
Rupp, Band Consultant and SingerParadox Productions: “When selecting the proper entertainment for your wedding, couples need to keep in mind the various types of people that will be attending their wedding. Be sure to work closely with your DJ or live band on the various types of music EVERYONE will like at some point in the night. I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep the bar or at least one of the bars in the same room as where the dancing is taking place. It is one of the biggest ways that pulls people away from the dance floor and even if someone’s favorite jam comes on, they’ll never know because they were in a completely different room.” —Zacch
WilliamsEvent Team Entertainment: “I love a fun and interactive Grand Entrance. You can highlight each wedding party member with a unique soundtrack and a short intro bio. If it’s a non-dancing crowd, you could offer a Feud-style game show or a Music Bingo experience. [For photo booths,] I favor a simple open-air style that allows large groups to gather and enjoy. I would make sure you are still getting prints, because the real value is walking away with a great pic. You will find new options like 360 Spin and Sketch Bot [AI-based drawing bots] that will actually draw your caricature after taking a picture of your face.”
—Shawn Whittemore, Owner and PresidentLit Productions: “Personally, I’m a huge fan of the Wedding Llamas here in Portland. As far as DJ entertainment goes, my favorite entertainment piece to bring to weddings is our Club Cannon, a handheld gun that shoots Co2 gas in a fog/cloud effect. It allows our couples the ability to cool off their guests who have been dancing hard and especially when the weather forecast is in the 80s and above. I [also] love when digital photo booths have GIF/Boomerang capabilities.” —Jordan
Morales, OwnerBlue Wave Band: “It can take an event to the next level if you have a stage for the band and a designated dance floor. It can make your event feel more like a concert and really allows your entertainers to play to the crowd. We also love when a parent or loved one asks to perform a special song with the band.”
—David Dawda, Head ProducerThe Afterparty Band: “We love when the bride or groom wants to play with us. We’ve also performed for choreographed dances (be it first dances, mother
and son or fatherdaughter, or groups such as sororities and fraternities, just the wedding party, or even all the guests)! And this may not be for every couple, but we love surprise songs. We also highly recommend props and costumes that go with the ones we already bring and wear if you really want to throw the party of a lifetime.”
—Tristin Rupp, Band Consultant and Singer
Paradox Productions:
“It kind of seems like we’re coming out of the era of doing the [traditional] bouquet and garter toss during reception. The groom could do a Nerf football toss that perhaps has a $100 bill taped to it or some lottery tickets [and] perhaps something fun is hidden inside the bouquet too.” —Zacch Williams
What song do you recommend for the first dance? And any advice for choosing one?
Event Team Entertainment: “There are so many great songs from way back all the way through today. It’s such a personal choice, but a few favorites are ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran, ‘Thinking Out Loud’ by Ed Sheeran, ‘Speechless’ by Dan + Shay, ‘From the Ground Up’ by Dan + Shay, and ‘Crazy Girl’ by Eli Young Band.” —Shawn Whittemore, Owner and President
Lit Productions: “I am a huge fan of covers of songs that aren’t normally wedding songs. Brent Morgan is a fantastic artist who makes a lot of covers of normally upbeat songs. Boyce Avenue has also mastered this. Teddy Swims also has a nice collection of covers including his version of Shania Twain’s ‘You’re Still the One.’ For original songs, I’m a big fan of ‘Consider Me’ by Allen Stone from Seattle, ‘Beyond’ by Leon Bridges, ‘All I Need’ by The Green, and ‘Don’t Let Go’ by Spawnbreezie.” —Jordan
Morales, OwnerBlue Wave Band: “Some of our favorite first dance songs include classics like ‘At Last’ by Etta James, ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ by Elvis, and more modern hits like ‘Lover’ by Taylor Swift. We also curated a playlist on Spotify with many first dance recommendations.” —David Dawda, Head Producer
The Afterparty Band: “The right song is going to be whatever feels right to the couple. Be it fast, slow, funny, romantic, classic, brand new, an original song, a cover of a song done a cappella, with a string quartet or some unique way that they both love.” —Tristin Rupp, Band Consultant and Singer
Paradox Productions: “My favorite piece of advice is to tell couples to think back throughout their relationship and find songs, artists or concerts they experienced together and try to come up with three potential first dance songs. Then have a nice dinner date together, go home with a bottle of wine and dance to all three songs in the living room. Not only is it a perfect date night, but you will also find the perfect first dance song.” —Zacch Williams

‘WOW’ MOMENTS ARE ALWAYS IN SEASON AT THE ALLISON INN & SPA IN NEWBERG, AS DISPLAYED IN THIS ELEGANT EDITORIAL THAT BRIMS WITH CREATIVE FLAIR, LOVELY TOUCHES AND IMMACULATE ATTENTION TO DETAIL
Photography: RTFaith Photography
Design: Alston Mayger Events
Text: Chelsea Gibson
Venue: The Allison Inn & Spa
Inspiration lies around every corner at The Allison Inn & Spa, which features extensive indoor and outdoor art collections, originally envisioned by late owner Joan Austin and curated by her daughter Loni Parrish. And for Ashley Lachney of Alston Mayger Events, taking the reins of this styled shoot was personal; she married her husband, Garrett, at the very same location in 2017.
“What I love about weddings at The Allison is how thoughtful the staff is in their execution. Every detail is captured during planning meetings to ensure that there’s a truly seamless day between all staff and vendors alike,” says Lachney. She recalls a time when she and her husband were planning their wedding and mentioned offhandly that they didn’t drink alcohol very often. Magically, as the meeting evolved into their tasting, zero-proof beverages appeared, including a mocktail version of the signature cocktail they were planning to serve at the reception. “They pay attention in the best way to ensure the best experience. It can’t be taught.”
Designer and owner Jolene Zaniewski of Trellis Creative Co. created a vibrant stationery suite and corresponding signage emulating the modern lines of the exterior of the resort. Even the textured place cards she designed echoed the pattern found on the back of The Allison’s room keys—a true kismet moment that left each vendor feeling like the universe was aligning, as Zaniewski had never seen the room keys before that day.
Opposite page: When approaching the floral elements for this styled shoot, Jodi Iverson of Jodi Iverson Florals took cues from the property to create a warm color palette and a playful design.
“I utilized toffee and honey Dijon roses, coral tulips, lilac orchids and strawberry butterfly ranunculus to represent a vibrant fall palette,” she says. “Everything was designed to really complement the interior and exterior of the resort and grounds.”
When you’re working at a place this BEAUTIFUL , it’s already given you such a solid FOUNDATION to work off. It’s our job to ensure we’re highlighting all of that beauty through the DESIGN
Jodi Iverson, Jodi Iverson FloralsWhen one stumbles upon the absolute HIDDEN GEM of Newberg, The Allison Inn & Spa, your mind can’t help but race at the possibility it holds for hosting a great event. TRANQUIL grounds, the utmost attention to DETAIL throughout the entire resort, a world-class spa and unparalleled dining experiences—it truly has all the makings for one INCREDIBLE wedding weekend.
For the bride’s styling, Lachney went straight to Liz Martinez Bridal for a dress worthy of a fashion icon. “I’m seeing folks make much bolder decisions when it comes to attire these days, which I love,” she says. The “Penelope” gown was accessorized with chic pumps from Bella Belle Shoes, and a 6.47-carat pear-shaped engagement ring, diamond earrings, tennis bracelet and ring from Packouz Jewelers heightened the decadence. Cassandra Kennedy created a romantic updo reminiscent of Pamela Anderson’s iconic bun, and soft makeup with a pop of color on the lips pulled in the colors of the bridal bouquet. A custom veil and blusher from Portland veil maker Katie Valleau of Tailored Tulle contributed a whimsical finishing touch.
The reception scene in the Coppergold Ballroom featured tables dressed with linens from Nüage Designs that bore the same 3D floral appliqués found on the bridal gown. Golden place settings and refined chairs from Arden Event Collective completed the dreamy setting, and uplighting on the wall cast an ambient glow on the space.
The groom was kitted out in a smart tux from Stitch & Tie and wore a wedding band from Packouz Jewelers.
The pastry chef at The Allison crafted a dessert display that was not only breathtakingly beautiful, but served as a masterful example of local patissiere.
Staged by executive chef Jack Strong, the array offered house-made truffles, cookie bars, dessert breads and other bite-size takeaways, all of which highlighted the flavors of the Pacific Northwest.
For photographer Rithy Tamba of RTFaith
Photography, the photogenic venue made the shooting experience memorable. “The grounds are beautifully curated with lush gardens and stunning architecture, making it a dream location to photograph. Its beauty and charm provide an abundance of opportunity for stunning photos,” she says. “I utilized the grounds to not only create romantic shots of the couple surrounded by the lushness of the Pacific Northwest, but incorporated the unique lighting design indoors within the foyer and ballrooms to produce some sensational portraits.”
It takes a village, TRULY . I say every time we tackle one of these projects together that I’m so glad I live within the PDX event industry. Everyone is so willing to help, loves FIERCELY and shows up for each other. I mean, if we can create this much MAGIC and beauty with an editorial, IMAGINE what your wedding could look like.

Christina Sun and Chad Heltzel’s wedding day was a melting pot of their two cultures. The décor and design of the day incorporated chinoiserie, along with the “Four Gentlemen” often depicted in Chinese art. Chinoiserie, by definition, is “the imitation or evocation of Chinese motifs and techniques in Western art, furniture and architecture, especially in the 18th century,” so it was naturally the perfect choice from which to draw inspiration that honored both of their heritages. The “Four Gentlemen,” or four flowers, are known to be common in Chinese art because of their beauty and symbolism. These symbolic blooms were woven through the design scape, making their mark in floral arrangements, the bridal bouquet, boutonnières, the stationery suite, table details and a custom monogram. Also, each of the four groomsmen and four bridesmaids was assigned one of the “Four Gentlemen” flowers, and their assigned flower was embroidered on ties for the groomsmen and custom qipaos and hand fans for the bridesmaids. For the colorful reception décor, tabletops featured mismatched antique chinoiserie plates, candlesticks and vases (some of which displayed the Chinese symbol for double happiness). The motif even continued to the smallest of details, such as Christina’s chinoiserie-style limited-edition Gucci lipstick and a hand-drawn chinoiserie pattern on their wedding cake. —Chelsea Gibson

Newlyweds Meagan Kalez and Tom Schmitz’s wedding was a perfect blend of timeless romance and personal touches, creating a beautiful and heartfelt experience for all who were lucky enough to be a part of it. Held at Waverley Country Club, the ceremony was a dreamy affair, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Willamette River and surrounded by greenery. To make it even more meaningful, Meagan’s grandfather performed a reading from 1 Corinthians, the same passage that was read at the bride’s parents’ wedding, creating a beautiful connection between past and present. Meagan was a vision of beauty in a Monique Lhuillier dress, which featured an oversize bow on the back for a playful element. Her stunning all-white bouquet was adorned with jewelry accents from each of her grandmothers—a sentimental touch to honor her family. Following the exchange of vows, the wedding party moved on to the cocktail hour, where guests mingled under enchanting wisteria vines, enjoying a 20-foot-long bar as a string quartet performed. Cocktails were served with monogrammed ice cubes featuring the initials of Meagan and Tom, making for a memorable detail. As the festivities drew to a close, guests danced to their heart’s content in the grand ballroom and indulged in classic late-night bites of french fries and sliders. As a sweet and thoughtful parting gift, guests were given a candy box filled with the couple’s favorite treats and Tom’s grandfather’s beloved cherry candy, which he used to share with him as a child. —Catherine

Alanté and Jake tied the knot during a romantic oceanside ceremony at Pelican Brewing Company in Pacific City. A beautiful golden altar was adorned in stunning pink blooms and lush greenery from Copper Moon Floral Design, creating an understated yet uniquely stunning backdrop that showcased the beauty of the Oregon coast. Maya, the couple’s golden retriever, accompanied Jake down the aisle, and the bride and groom sealed their vows with a shot of amaro infused with peppers from their own garden. Both Alanté and Jake have an eye for fashion, and they both donned custom looks for the big day. Alanté’s dreamy blush wedding gown by Elizabeth Dye featured a breathtaking tulle train, and Jake sported a tailor-made forest green suit by Sew Generously Bespoke. Your Perfect Bridesmaid wove gorgeous jewel tones throughout the reception, from moody violet to bright shades of cyan and vibrant pops of orange, creating a playful palette that reflected the fun-loving spirit of the couple. The bride and groom incorporated numerous allusions to their love story throughout the celebration, including table names based on places, themes and events that hold special places in their hearts. Alanté and Jake both love video games, so Your Perfect Bridesmaid brought in vintage arcade games for guests to enjoy, and the couple made candles by hand at Noir Lux Candle Bar for each of their guests to take home at the end of the night. —Lainey

Married & Celebrated: IRONLIGHT, LAKE OSWEGO
Date: OCTOBER 8, 2022
After falling in love during the COVID-19 pandemic, longtime friends Calisa Reis and Matthew Welch returned to their hometown of Lake Oswego to tie the knot. The couple chose to exchange vows at Matthew’s childhood church, Our Lady of the Lake, where his father served as a deacon. Both families were closely involved in the ceremony, with readings from the bride’s and groom’s parents, as well as a beautiful rendition of “Ave Maria” performed by Matthew’s cousin. After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests headed to Ironlight to celebrate, a great choice because of its stunning views of the lake and mountains, as well as its close proximity to the church. The couple, who had grown closer through their shared love of exploring Oregon on road trips and camping adventures, envisioned a design that reflected the beauty of the autumn season. “We appreciated working with vendors that understood our goals and appreciated Oregon’s fall beauty to create flower arrangements, décor and a seasonal menu that captured what fall in Oregon means to us,” Calisa and Matthew explained. To create this warm and inviting atmosphere, the reception space was filled with rich, earthy browns, reds and oranges. Calisa and Matthew also named the tables for their favorite destinations, discovered while falling for each other, as a reminder of their journey to true love. —Catherine Cortes

Sandra Shockley and Brian Flanigan celebrated the sweetness of second chances in a heartfelt ceremony at the Exchange Ballroom. The couple found love again after connecting online; when they met in person, it was an instant connection. With their shared affinity for nature and gardening, bringing the outdoors into their wedding was essential, and the venue was adorned with cascading greenery and wild florals. The earthy allure was enhanced by a palette centered on antique mauve and plum, complemented by wood accents and the gentle glow of candlelight to illuminate the space. To honor Sandra’s and Brian’s blended family, each of their children read a poem to mark the beginning of each section of the wedding, a touching introduction that brought magic to the day. As a sweet parting gesture and nod to their shared gardening passion, the pair made custom spicy pickle jars for their guests. This loving gift displayed their personal touch, it also served as a meaningful bonding experience for Sandra and Brian as they crafted something special together. —Catherine Cortes

The glimmering lights of the Great Hall illuminated the scene for Hannah Scamehorn and Brock Pellow’s elegant New Year’s Eve nuptials at Sunriver Resort. The stunning winter weekend featured a sophisticated palette of classic black and white, with accents of forest green and a whole lot of shimmer. Lush white florals from Blomstra Floral Co. lined the ceremony aisle and adorned the mantel of the fireplace, complete with a roaring fire, creating a cozy backdrop for the couple to say “I do.” Beautiful string lights shone down from the chandeliers above, lighting the night as the new year approached. Wedding planner Amanda Claire & Co. transformed the space for the reception, choosing long tablescapes featuring modern décor, delicate baby’s breath and hints of gold that sparkled in the reflected light of the gorgeous glassware. Hannah and Brock celebrated with a Champagne tower and partied with their guests as the clock ticked down. The couple surprised guests with a balloon drop at the start of 2023, the perfect way to close out the night. —Lainey Dow

Imani Nero and Sean DenHerder’s May wedding at Loloma Lodge mixed modern style and vintage décor elements to create a one-of-a-kind design that captured the eclectic, sophisticated style of the bride and groom. The two said “I do” during a gorgeous indoor ceremony. Bohemian-style rugs in shades of pink and red lined the aisle and altar, and Wild Child Flower Co. crafted a unique geometric arbor adorned in florals and greenery to complete the ceremony backdrop. There was a pashmina waiting on each seat to ensure that guests stayed warm during the ceremony. Both the bride and groom included some fun personal touches in their wedding-day attire. Imani wore a stunning A-line gown and embroidered floral cape with hints of green, pink and orange. Hair by Empress created a half-up hairstyle that showcased real florals to complement the bouquet, and the look was finished with a pair of red leather boots. Sean wore a neutral-hued ensemble and a blue floral tie, and he had the wedding date embroidered on the inside of his coat. The space was transformed for the tented reception, where pieces by Curated Events cultivated a relaxed boho vibe in shades of orange, navy and blush. Guests found their seats courtesy of the dainty teacups sitting on the escort wall, which doubled as wedding favors. Sheild Catering composed the most delicious grazing table full of beautiful bites, and guests sipped on custom cocktails from The Tipsy Mule as the evening began. Imani and Sean snuck off to snap photos in front of a cute A-frame cabin before reuniting with guests for dinner and dancing. Pure Pulse Entertainment kept the crowd on its feet, and the bride and groom shared a slice of wedding cake from Soft Peaks Cakery in celebration of their perfect union. —Lainey Dow

Upon entering Cape Horn Estate to attend Lauren McElhaney and Jason Yakimovich’s wedding, guests were greeted with an extraordinary sight: a plethora of custom details that reflected the couple’s love story and unique personalities, making it a truly memorable family affair. Lauren and Jason exchanged vows in an idyllic outdoor ceremony, with the majestic basalt cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge serving as the backdrop. The charming scene was enhanced by an abundance of exquisite white florals, which seamlessly fused with the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Inspired by Gucci, the couple’s wedding design exuded modern elegance and sophistication. The color scheme included emerald green, ivory, white and soft blush and was accentuated by tasteful touches of black, which complemented the exquisite Gucci Herbarium dinnerware used in the reception décor. To honor their Austin roots, Lauren and Jason kept Tito’s vodka flowing, serving it in custom cups featuring a gold sketch of their fur baby, appropriately named Tito. The celebration also featured a one-of-akind beverage called a “Mac & Yak,” a delicious amber ale brewed by Lauren’s uncle. As the sun dipped behind the cliffs, the wedding party doffed lighted cowboy hats and danced the night away. —Catherine Cortes

Caitlin Dieni and Billy McDonald met during their senior year at the University of Oregon and have been together ever since. As a wedding planner herself, the owner and lead designer of Caitlin McDonald Events, the bride envisioned an intimate celebration that “felt like home.” Both Caitlin and Billy love to throw dinner parties for family and friends, so they wanted their big day to be nothing short of a wonderful experience for their guests. Red Barn Villa in Oregon City served as the most beautiful backdrop for the affair. The bride and groom were very intentional about the food and wine they selected, and as self-proclaimed foodies, they cherished sharing some of their favorite dishes and drinks with their guests. Pearl Catering prepared an amazing array of cocktail hour appetizers, including crab cakes, caviar, honey Brie and blackberries, and duck confit crostini. Dinner included a two-course meal of beurre blanc grilled salmon and prosciutto-wrapped filet mignon. The dessert options were endless, from a two-tiered chocolate espresso cake, carrot cake, pastries and bites from Tres Belle Desserts to boozy ice pops courtesy of Sloshy Pops. The reception also featured two custom cocktails: a maple bourbon old fashioned and a guava margarita. Mimosa Floral Company provided all of the beautiful blooms for the day, following a gorgeous color palette of pinks, yellows and lavender for the bouquets, ceremony florals and reception décor. The combination of roses, ranunculus and carnations created voluminous arrangements that were set off exquisitely by the soft tablescape linens by BBJ La Tavola, textural place settings and sleek glassware used throughout the reception space. The wedding was full of personalized elements, from the custom Oregon-shaped acrylic escort cards created by Sands + Serifs to the “Mr. and Mrs. McDonald” marquee letters created by Alpha Lit Letters. Caitlin and Billy danced to an acoustic version of “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran for their first dance, and because Billy’s parents also celebrated their 34th anniversary the week of the wedding, Caitlin and Billy surprised them with a dance of their own. —Lainey Dow
