“CREATIVITY TAKES COURAGE”
As a native Oregonian, I couldn’t be more excited to be back at the helm of Oregon Wedding Day And even luckier for me, I get to come back with a bang for one of my favorite issues—our annual “Best of” edition!
Welcome to Oregon Wedding Day ’s “Best of 2024”: your one-stop resource for the best wedding professionals in the state. This curated list of pros is selected by the wedding industry, readers and followers through a monthlong voting process, culminating in this issue and presented at our Best of 2024 awards event, which will take its design cues from the French impressionist Henri Matisse, who once stated, “Creativity takes courage.” I see that truth on every page of this magazine. From the high desert of Central Oregon to the city streets of Portland, misty beaches of the Oregon coast and the vineyards of McMinnville, fearless creatives showed up to masterfully transform dreams into reality. To find your team among the top photographers, dress shops, planners, florists, music and more, turn to our complete Best of 2024 list (page 44).
To all the winners and nominees, congratulations! I raise a Champagne coupe to you and all your visions and dedication to making the wedding magic happen. There is inspiration everywhere you look in this issue, including “Baroque Beauty” (page 52), a stunning wedding shoot created by Amanda Claire and Company at The Ruins at the Astor in downtown Astoria. Then, Carisa Smith of Adornment Events and some outstanding talent gathered to showcase the possibilities of a bridal brunch, welcome cocktails and outdoor rehearsal dinner at Amaterra in Portland. This group of Oregonians displayed their Pacific Northwest prowess as they faced a downpour and gusting wind, all while managing a twinkle tent, delicate stationery elements and an ombre floral installation under the table. Surprise, surprise—it still rocked!
I invite you to settle in and flip through a “Château Chic” day (page 21), consider the black-and-white palette reimagined (page 38), fall in love with fashion straight from the runway (page 34) and toast swoon-worthy real weddings from across the state (page 85). Plus, learn the ins and outs of changing your name (page 28), our team’s favorite mascara picks (page 30) and must-have items for your registry (page 32).
I’ll leave you with this: Let courage lead when planning your happily ever after—creativity will surely follow.

Overlooking Portland through sprawling floor-to-ceiling windows at the Cosmopolitan Ballroom in Portland, wedding professionals from across Oregon gathered to celebrate the official launch of the brand’s new name, Oregon Wedding Day , and release of its Spring/Summer 2024 issue.
A design conceptualized by Lemonseed Events was an homage to spring, featuring bold colors and splashes of citrus as a chic nod to the flavors of the coming seasons. Pantone’s “Peach Fuzz,” already named the color of the year, was a trendy addition that kept things equally whimsical and elegant. A balloon installation crafted by Blown PDX was a fun addition to the space, and marquee letters from Alpha-Lit added the perfect glowing touch.
Bites from Pearl Catering were culinary delights and an expansive dessert display created by Tres Belle Desserts was a sweet addition. Our favorite bite might have been the Italian Peach Cookies, which were nearly too cute to eat. A tablescape designed by Lemonseed paired lilac and orange together for a springtime design that featured gorgeous flowers from Bella Bloom Florals. Taper candles in bold colors are a cool reinterpretation of classic, and sleek white accents top it off with an edge. The night brought together Oregon’s finest to celebrate in style with mingling, photo ops and inspiration galore. Copies of the newest issue of Oregon Wedding Day were featured across the design and woven into the décor stylishly.
Oregon Wedding Day ’s Spring/Summer 2024 issue continues to provide wedding inspiration for real couples in the planning process in an educational and engaging way. Many of Oregon’s top wedding professionals came together to create fashion shoots, styled shoots, real weddings and more. From trends in beauty and décor to an extensive directory of wedding professionals, the newest issue offers cutting-edge ideas for the modern couple. This marks the first print issue of Oregon Wedding Day since its name change from Oregon Bride, and Iron Diamond is proud to focus on inclusivity in weddings further.

CHÂTEAU CHIC
Gorgeous antiques and avant-garde fashion came together beautifully to inspire an enchanting shoot at Salem’s French-inspired Château de Michellia. Shadows and light mingled with blooms and decadent design details, lending the scene a distinct vintage aesthetic, with hints of Asian fusion to honor the bride’s heritage. The blooming estate grounds served as the setting for the smartly dressed couple: She wore a vintage-inspired gown accessorized with a hand fan and statement pearl earrings, and he rocked a classic tuxedo. Complementing the bride’s look was a stunning bouquet bounteous with textured neutrals by Novella Floral. Exuding old-world charm, a single-tier cake with retro piping sat atop a thrifted cake stand and was adorned with a few choice blooms. With curated pieces from some of Oregon’s best antique malls and thrift stores, including Curiosities Vintage Mall in Tigard, House of Vintage and Memory Den, the design successfully captured the essence of timeless elegance with a contemporary twist.

“The modern groom is no longer someone who is sitting on the sidelines. He is active in every step of the wedding planning, and he’s started to take a much larger role in the process.”
—KateHolt, owner of Kate Holt Photography
In a striking reimagining of wedding aesthetics, a boldly designed styled shoot places a focus on men’s wedding fashion against the dramatic backdrop of McPhillips Beach. The selected color palette elegantly echoed the beach’s natural reds, oranges and the deep blues of the Pacific Ocean, integrated seamlessly into every aspect of the setting.
The tablescape featured an array of textures, from leather to dark wood and iron, designed to complement the rugged coastal terrain. Fashion included customtailored suits, bespoke shoes of alligator and snake leather and innovative floral accessories, such as a bow tie and a full floral pocket square that creatively replaced the traditional boutonniere. Holt highlights the shift in wedding attire focus: “I feel in today’s modern wedding industry, an opportunity exists for a larger emphasis on highlighting men’s fashion.” This emphasis was vividly brought to life, capturing both the essence of the Oregon coast and the evolving role of grooms in wedding style. —Megan Simpson Teeter

Inspired by their countless jaunts to the Oregon coast, Mikenzie Penna and Kasey Kelly dreamed of an elopement that married elegance to the wildness of the coast. That dream came to life in the intimate ceremony set against the nostalgic backdrop of a 1970s seaside home. The bride and groom chose attire that complemented the cozy, intimate vibe of their vintage venue, their outfits reflecting casual refinement, perfect for a day filled with personal moments and breathtaking views. On the morning of their special day, the couple shared coffee and laughter in the kitchen of their rental, enjoying an easygoing, laissez-faire schedule. There were
no guests gathering, no traditional ceremony with an audience. Instead, the next stage of their life unfolded with the two reading their personal vows on the lush lawn, their deep connection and the essence of their relationship culminating in those moments. The ceremony gave way to an afternoon exploring local shops and breweries, a reflection of their laidback yet curious nature. As the sun sank into the Pacific, the couple took sunset photos at Haystack Rock. This special day ended in a quiet, blissful moment the two shared over a simple yet elegant dessert, savoring its sweetness in the fading light. —Megan Simpson Teeter
SLIP AWAY
In an endless pursuit to find the perfect slip dress—one that is versatile and timeless—best friends and fashionistas
Kristina Kelly and Keely Brittles finally decided to design their own. “We asked ourselves, ‘What does it take to make a statement piece that stands out amongst your favorite dresses?’” The duo spent two years sourcing a luminous, buttery soft silk and conceptualizing the ideal shape before revealing “The Ruby” by VICENTE (@vicente_thelabel)
Crafted from 100% charmeuse silk, this wardrobe staple is a versatile dress that combines elegance and functionality.
“The Ruby” is a beautiful option for weddings, whether it’s as a sleek selection for a bridal shower or rehearsal dinner, or as the ideal bridesmaid gown—which truly will be worn again. It’s fashionable, functional and ready to wear. —Lara Burnap
SEASON OF CHANGE
A PRO’S GUIDE TO CHANGING YOUR LAST NAME AFTER THE WEDDING
While planning the big day, your focus is mainly on event details, guest lists and your ensemble. However, for anyone who has decided to change their name to reflect their new status, another “adventure” begins once the vendors have been tipped and the relatives have departed.
Understandably, many newlyweds have no idea what to expect when they begin the name-changing process for the first time. Enter Colie Christensen, founder of NewlyNamed, a name-change kit service designed to make formalizing your new last name a breeze.
Colie details the eight “places” newlyweds must remember to change their names...
SOCIAL SECURITY
IRS
U.S. PASSPORT
DRIVER’S LICENSE
VOTER REGISTRATION
VEHICLE TITLE & REGISTRATION
PROFESSIONAL LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
PERSONAL ACCOUNTS such as banks, credit unions, credit cards, investment accounts, frequent flyer programs, travel programs (TSA Pre, Global Entry, etc.) and more. When couples work with NewlyNamed, Colie notes: “We have 3,000+ companies (personal accounts) in our database that our customers can select and add to their kit. Most select 20-30.”
It’s important to begin by updating your name with the Social Security Administration (SSA) by filling out form Form SS-5, the application for a new social security card (can be done by mail or online). This step is foundational because your name officially and legally changes after it’s updated with the SSA and the IRS, making it possible to change your name everywhere else. However, it’s important to mention that even though your name is changed in the SSA’s system, you’ll still need to update it everywhere else to match.
“Once your name is updated with the SSA, other entities can reference it to confirm your new legal name,” explains Colie. This sets the stage for the next steps in the name change process. After updating your name with the SSA, the following locations typically require attention:
IRS: Changing your name with SSA will update your name with the Internal Revenue Service, however, it’s pertinent to note that you should wait about 10-14 days after you change your name with the SSA to file your tax return!
U.S. PASSPORT: Apply for a new passport with your updated name. This usually requires submitting Form DS-11 along with supporting documents like your marriage certificate and current passport.
DRIVER’S LICENSE: Bring your new Social Security card, a completed Oregon driver’s license application, your current ID and your passport or certified birth certificate to your DMV appointment. Be prepared; you’ll have to take a new license photo.
VOTER REGISTRATION: Update your information quickly and easily online—find more information at sos.oregon.gov/voting . Otherwise, you can submit a hard copy of a voter registration form to your local county elections office.
VEHICLE TITLE REGISTRATION: Complete the application, noting that you’ve changed your name. Include the title and the title fee and mail it in. For the application, exact fee amount and mailing address, please visit oregon.gov/odot/dmv/pages/dv/.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
If you hold any professional licenses or certifications, such as a nursing license or teaching certificate, notify the issuing authority of your name change.
PERSONAL ACCOUNTS: Update your name with all personal accounts, including banks, credit unions, credit cards, investment accounts, frequent flyer programs and travel programs like TSA PreCheck and Global Entry.
We get it; the list can be a little daunting. If you want to save yourself time (and the headache), NewlyNamed’s comprehensive name change kit service streamlines this process and ensures you don’t miss any accounts. With NewlyNamed’s extensive database, you can easily navigate this process and select the entities you’ll need to update within your own kit. Why can’t wedding planning be that simple?

OUR TEAM PUT MASCARA TO THE TEST TO FIND THE BEST OPTIONS FOR LENGTHENING, VOLUMINIZING AND DAZZLING ALL DAY
For cleaning up smudges that have already happened, it’s handy to keep a pre-soaked Q-tip with makeup remover in your bag to wipe away, and a concealer to patch up after.
– Olivia Hawthorne, owner of Olivia Hawthorne Beauty PHOTO: Kate Noelle PhotographyThe eyes will have it with BENEFIT COSMETICS’
“THEY’RE REAL!” BEYOND MASCARA ($29)
The secret is in the wand: Apply horizontally in a sideto-side motion and sweep from top to bottom to increase length and lift; apply vertically with gentle upward strokes to curl and separate. “This has been my mascara for years. It’s not messy or clumpy and feels like me … but enhanced.”
Alexis Sanabria, publisher, Oregon Wedding Day
The hourglass-shaped wand is the secret in TOO FACED’S BETTER THAN SEX MASCARA ($29) . This mascara defines, lengthens and curls lashes to their fullest potential— and the waterproof formula bests even the heaviest of tears. “I wore this on my wedding day! Tears don’t stand a chance.”
Jessi Pallan, creative director, Iron Diamond Media
For dramatic lashes, LAST CLASH EXTREME VOLUME
MASCARA BY YVES SAINT LAURENT ($32) is a highly pigmented mascara that coats lashes with an oversized, double-conical brush. Just one sweep of this long-lasting formula (up to 24 hours!) delivers volume—and builds with each stroke. For the ultimate luxury, order a personally engraved tube with your wedding date or monogram. “I love this mascara, it feels luxe and adds so much volume to my lashes—plus, it never smudges!”
Sonja Babich, CEO, Iron Diamond Media
GRANDE COSMETICS’ GRANDEDRAMA INTENSE THICKENING MASCARA ($25) includes castor oil to condition while delivering length, volume and staying power. The vegan formula, which can be built up, instantly lifts and separates lashes for a well-defined look. “I have thin lashes, so this is my go-to for adding length and volume without clumps. I love how it nourishes and adds a subtle shine.”
Lara Burnap, editorial director, Iron Diamond Media
EXTREME-LENGTH MASCARA + LASH PRIMER BY HONEST BEAUTY ($19.99) offers the best of both worlds by combining primer and mascara. Made with jojoba esters, this clean mascara effortlessly plumps and lengthens. “Clean, budget-friendly and the best mascara I’ve found, it gives you length and volume, thanks to an effective primer.”
Chelsea Gibson, editor-in-chief, Oregon Wedding Day
THE PROS RECOMMEND:
“To prevent mascara or eye makeup smudges, always use a waterproof mascara, and make sure your other eye makeup is waterproof or water resistant as well. If you’re still prone to smudging even with waterproof mascara, a tubing mascara can be a better option because they create little rubbery tubes around the lashes that won’t break down as easily from the oils in your skin and makeup. Trish McEvoy Lash Curling Tubular Mascara is a great classic tubing mascara.”

While black and white are forever trending, the iconic color duo is making a major resurgence among couples as their wedding-day inspiration. Floral design leaned ultra mod: The bridal bouquet is an elegant gathering of white longstemmed garden roses, with the same blooms found in individual vases in the tablescape for a pristine presentation.

BEST REAL WEDDING KELLY & JOE
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of their family’s private ranch in Bend, Kelly and Joe’s wedding blended Pacific Northwest charm and modern sophistication. The couple originally grew up in Bend, occassionally crossing paths until a Zoom date officially brought them together during the pandemic. Pale blues played against bright pops of pinks and oranges in the design scheme, with florals overflowing into every nook and cranny. Lovely, lush and so Oregon.

ARTFUL DESIGN REAWAKENS AN ARCHITECTURAL GEM IN THE HEART OF ASTORIA

BEHIND THE SCENES By Gallivan Photo "Condesa” crepe gown with lace appliques by Pronovias (@pronovias) from Bespoke Bride. As a designer, the architecture
my biggest inspiration, with its undeniable
worn facades and delicate arches, the broken infrastructure spoke
an intimate soirée complete with elevated moments and elegant touches—all ensconced in a perfectly imperfect rustic setting.
Overall, my vision was to intertwine the ROMANTIC details of traditional Baroque with the simplicity and functionality of contemporary design, marrying BALANCE and approachability. Every detail was chosen with intent. From the fashion to the tablescape, my goal was to demonstrate HARMONY and spark interest.
– Amanda Galbraith, owner of Amanda Claire and CompanyOur bride prepares for her big day in a beautiful suite furnished with a dusty rose couch and adorned with gold candelabras bearing powder blue tapered candles. A delicate posy of florals is composed of unique color combinations and textures. The bride’s sleek look is defined by a center-part ponytail, soft glam makeup, and a form-fitting gown with embroidered details and a dramatic train.
What TRULY set this shoot apart was the contagious collaborative SPIRIT of everyone involved. Beyond the initial mood boards and planning sessions, each expert brought their UNIQUE perspective and expertise to the table.
– Amanda Galbraith, owner of Amanda Claire and CompanyThe tabletop is reminiscent of an ornate dinner party of the past, featuring patterned blue linens, gold chargers and flatware, and a variety of mismatched gold vases holding choice blooms. Blue goblets and wooden chairs completed the refined scene.
A closer look at a few of the standout details: a seating chart display posing as a piece of art, a mini confection echoing the building’s aesthetic and the intricate features of each place setting.
The most rewarding aspect of this experience was witnessing the SENSE of EMPOWERMENT that radiated from everyone who had a hand in this project on-site when we were in full production. – Amanda Galbraith, owner of Amanda Claire and Company

THREE JOYFUL EVENTS TO CELEBRATE YOUR WEDDING WEEKEND
Design & Planning: Adornment Events
Photography: Aniko Photography
Text: Chelsea Gibson
Venue: Amaterra
Long gone are the days of the one-day-and-done wedding, as we’re seeing more and more couples embrace multiday events to maximize time with loved ones and relieve the pressure of “making the rounds” at the wedding reception. That was the very inspiration for Carisa Smith of Adornment Events when planning this trifecta of soirées at Amaterra in Portland’s West Hills. The winery’s stunning architecture, versatile spaces and sweeping views provided the ultimate Pacific Northwest setting to allow three different designs to flourish.
“The creative behind a wedding weekend is weaving a common thread of style while providing unique experiences for guests for each event,” says Carisa Smith of Adornment Events. “We focused on custom pieces to show thoughtfulness for each person with local curated gifts and venue selections. It was really important to support the Pacific Northwest style with outdoor greens, airy locations and vintage vibes through our designs.”
A bright and cheery brunch—great for a pre- or post-wedding get-together— features a beautiful tableau of textures and colors, incorporating boldly patterned linens, wood and rattan accents, and florals in hues of mauve, blush, white and yellow.
A vintage garden brunch with classic deep navy details and local NORTHWEST blooms of yellows and greenery inspired us to create this UNIQUE event. Complete with a Champagne ‘welcome’ cart, a brunch display, berry coffee cake to cut, as well as gifts for guests to take home as a token of GRATITUDE .
–Carisa Smith, Adornment Events
The inspiring thing about the Pacific Northwest is the MAGICAL calm the trees bring. To create an outdoor romantic event moment, we designed this tablescape with clear tables and VINTAGE place settings so guests could focus on the ombre floral path beneath them and the stars above.
– Carisa Smith, AdornmentEvents
For the ‘welcome’ cocktails portion of our wedding weekend, we wanted to showcase a BREATHTAKING custom bar wrapped in florals and a moody evening EXPERIENCE with infused cocktails and velvet lounges.
– Carisa Smith, Adornment Events
Moody vibes mark this curated bar experience, ideal for “welcome” drinks or after-reception fun. Floral details, custom lounge seating, cocktails and bites make this setup a standout.

JESSICA & JOSHUA
Married & Celebrated: SCHOLLS VALLEY LODGE, HILLSBORO
Date: JULY 1, 2023
Jessica Shamma and Joshua Glickman met via a dating app in New York before eventually finding their way to Oregon. The couple wanted a colorful, whimsical wedding that culminated in the ultimate dance party. They took inspiration from “The Lord of the Rings” and mingled lights and wildflowers throughout the grounds. The two also brought together elements of her Catholic roots and his Jewish heritage to create a beautiful blend of love and culture. —Chelsea Gibson
STEPHANIE & TRISTAN
Married & Celebrated: CROOK POINT, PISTOL RIVER
Date: SEPTEMBER 23, 2023
Stephanie Rager and Tristan Campbell are no strangers to an offbeat theme: This is a couple who first crossed paths at Emo Nite. The wedding planning began by focusing on their roots and passions. The theme? A splendid fusion of boho chic, Scottish tradition and the rebellious spirit of punk rock—a true reflection of their first meeting and of Tristan’s heritage. When it came to their sartorial choices, Stephanie dazzled in a gown that radiated boho elegance with just a hint of alternative flair; the gown was complemented by Tristan’s kilt, which proudly bore his family tartan. As the big day began, guests were greeted by the serene setting of an oceanside venue draped in dried florals and pampas grass, setting the stage for a moody, romantic ceremony. The couple exchanged vows that they had penned themselves, punctuating those vows with a symbolic handfasting, a pinky promise, and the sharing of a drink from a quaich, a double-handled cup, sealing their union in the Scottish tradition. The reception began with Tristan’s mother pinning a tartan on Stephanie, symbolizing her official welcome into their clan. The mother of the groom also contributed the delectable dessert bar to the evening’s festivities. The night was alive with heartfelt toasts and a feast that delighted every palate, followed by action on the dance floor, which erupted with energy as Stephanie and her dad boogied to “Thriller” and beckoned everyone to join in. Later on during the celebration, the newlyweds stole away for candid snapshots in their bespoke jackets, perfect emblems of their style. —Megan Simpson Teeter

KARLIE & JAMIE
Married & Celebrated: RANCH AT THE CANYONS, TERREBONNE
Date: JUNE 10, 2023
Once upon a summer, Karlie’s and Jamie’s paths crossed under serendipitous skies. Later, as they began planning their dream wedding, the couple wove a tapestry of rustic charm, Western flair and a touch of glamour into their big day, mirroring the landscape of their venue. The lovebirds paid homage to the bride’s grandparents by holding their nuptials on her grandparents’ wedding anniversary. Their big day was infused with warmth and color, with décor bathed in sunset hues and a touch of bohemian charm. Floral arrangements in terra-cotta and tan with splashes of turquoise and sage perfectly complemented the setting. Chandeliers graced each table from above, hung from an expansive wooden structure draped with billowing chiffon, creating an elegant and inviting atmosphere. The couple’s attention to detail was meticulous, evident in a whiskey bottle display on the dessert table as a tribute to her grandfather’s favorite drink, and a marriage certificate subtly incorporated onto the back of every menu. Guests were treated to custom whiskey bottles as tokens of appreciation, and the place cards were attached to cookies shaped like cow skulls, boots and turquoise jewelry. The ceremony was filled with personal sentiments, including a touching performance by Karlie’s daughter. As the evening progressed, guests enjoyed a lively reception under the glow of an impressive elk antler chandelier, dancing the night away. —Megan Simpson Teeter

TASNIA & ROHIT
Married & Celebrated: THE OREGON GOLF CLUB, WEST LINN
Date: JULY 30, 2023
In the halls of their middle school and, later, the corridors of their university, Tasnia Kabir and Rohit Chaudhary might as well have been ships passing in the night. But destiny finally cast them together in an Introduction to Databases class. From there, friendship blossomed into a storybook romance. Five years later, under the Gothic arches of Cathedral Park, Rohit asked Tasnia to marry him. She said yes and planned a quick elopement to seal their love privately, reserving the grand spectacle for later: a wedding laden with tradition and the bride’s childhood dreams. Drawing from their background and the vibrant, multiday festivals of South Asia, and infused with personal quirks, such as her adoration of Taylor Swift and Rohit’s Nike swag, their wedding was anything but conventional. The three-day extravaganza began with a mehndi, during which the women adorned themselves with intricate henna patterns, laughter echoing through the hall, setting the stage for what was to come. On day two, the haldi and sangeet ceremonies unfolded like scenes from a Bollywood blockbuster, complete with dance-offs and melodious serenades by friends and family spotlighting the couple’s journey in a cultural tapestry of joy. The grand finale, the reception, was a spectacular fusion of East and West. Guests from all corners of the globe witnessed Rohit’s heroic helicopter entrance and Tasnia’s regal walk down the aisle to celebrate their union. The reception hall buzzed with energy, from heartfelt speeches to a lively dance floor. As the night drew to a close, the couple swapped their formal attire for monochrome Nike sweatsuits and sneakers, returning to their casual, genuine selves. —Megan Simpson Teeter

SHANNON & BRANDON
Married & Celebrated: BRIDAL VEIL LAKES, CORBETT
Date: JULY 8, 2023
Shannon Brennan and Brandon Wright met while they were students at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Romance ensued, and it was during a trip to Ireland in June 2022 that Brandon popped the question to Shannon while they took in the beauty of the Dingle Peninsula. Their wedding subsequently took place at Bridal Veil Lakes, a serene locale overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. The ceremony site was beautifully decorated with a lush floral arch, and shades of plum and blush graced the venue. Influenced by the gardens of the Pacific Northwest, the wedding took on a botanical vibe with gorgeous florals that included dahlias, chocolate cosmos, zinnias and garden roses provided by Flowers by Almanac, as well as blooms sourced from other growers in the Willamette Valley and southwest Washington. For the reception, the ceremony florals were repurposed and used as décor beneath the cake display. The cake was made by a close friend of the couple, bringing a unique and personal element to the dessert. Another special part of the wedding paid homage to Shannon’s background as a champion Irish dancer as Shannon and her dad danced together to an Irish song. Shannon and Brandon’s special day was truly a magical celebration. —Jenny Castro

MEGHAN & MORGAN
Married & Celebrated: BRASADA RANCH, BEND
Date: OCTOBER 14, 2023
Meghan Hughs and Morgan Case, who share a passion for sports and sportswear, first locked eyes at a Portland Thorns soccer match. Amid the cheers and chants, Morgan, fresh from landing a full-time position at Adidas after a bustling summer internship, found her perfect match not on the field, but in the stands. “We still don’t know who won the game that night, but we know for certain we both left as winners,” the couple shares. An engagement followed, and as they embarked on their wedding-planning journey, they aimed for a day that mirrored their laid-back yet intentional lifestyle. The brides sought to infuse their nuptials with personalized, relaxed moments for both themselves and their guests. Choosing their wedding attire was a delightful play of surprise and symmetry. Meghan was in the loop about both outfits, but Morgan’s dress remained a secret until the wedding day. Despite the surprise, both outfits, created by the same visionary designer, harmonized beautifully. The wedding itself was nothing short of breathtaking. Guests were first treated to a Kentucky-style bourbon tasting, in recognition of Morgan’s roots, setting a convivial tone. The ceremony, framed by stunning mountain views, was deeply personal, officiated by a friend who happens to be a Supreme Court judge. The reception dazzled, from the earth-toned floral décor to the impeccable tablescapes and a multicourse menu that catered lovingly to every dietary need. As the night unfolded, with Morgan’s sister strumming the tune for the first dance and DJ Deadpan spinning the decks, the atmosphere was alive with electricity and love. —Megan Simpson Teeter

KYLEE & BEN
Married & Celebrated: OSWEGO HILLS WINERY
Date: JUNE 17, 2023
Kylee Plummer and Ben DeMarois’ wedding at Oswego Hills Winery displayed “something blue” everywhere guests turned—from the darling stationery suite to the bridesmaids’ dresses, florals, linens and glassware—with that lovely blue set off by shades of white and cream. The winery, a local gem of a venue, lent a lush landscape and stunning vistas for the timeless and sophisticated vibe the couple envisioned. The pair showcased their unique style through many memorable details: Kylee’s dress with detachable sleeves, her form-fitting party gown, and sweet homages to her grandmother that she wore in the form of her grandmother’s ring and a rose pinned to her dress; and cream-colored suits with dusty blue ties worn by Ben and his groomsmen. A special first dance took place on an elevated patio as guests were treated to an alfresco dinner on the outdoor lawn. After the reception, the newlyweds drove away in a white Jeep Wrangler, which happened to be the first vehicle that conveyed Ben and Kylee on their first date. —Jenny Castro

KRISTIN & JACOB
Married & Celebrated: MOUNTAINDALE WEST DAY CAMP, NORTH PLAINS
Date: OCTOBER 7, 2023
In the midst of the pandemic, Kristin Hilton and Jacob Peirce’s love story sprouted in the quiet aisles of a grocery store. Having met online, this local spot was their only option for meeting in person as everything else was closed. As the world slowly reopened, so did the possibilities for their wedding. Dubbed “Camp Peirce,” their wedding was to be a nostalgic nod to vintage summer camps, laced with the romance of a fairy tale, a theme inspired by Kristin’s adoration for Taylor Swift’s song “Love Story.” The autumnal hues of the Pacific Northwest forest, the setting of their venue, provided a vivid canvas for their day. When it came to fashion, the couple’s choices were thoughtfully attuned to their theme. No strict dress code was enforced, yet a gentle nudge toward fall colors guided their guests. Kristin and Jake chose outfits that reflected the rustic elegance of their setting, their attire smoothly blending into the golden, leaf-strewn backdrop. The wedding day unfurled with guests congregating under the crisp canopy of foliage. Jake’s father officiated their ceremony, and the bride’s uncle offered a heartfelt blessing. As the couple kissed, marigold petals—grown in Kristin’s own garden—rained down in celebration. Once vows were exchanged, the atmosphere shifted to jubilant. The reception buzzed with energy, with a photo bomb crescendo of everyone mobbing the dance floor and capturing fleeting moments with the couple in fun, frantic snaps. —Megan Simpson Teeter

KRISTIN & MASON
Married & Celebrated: LANGDON FARMS GOLF CLUB, AURORA
Date: AUGUST 5, 2023
Inspired by the landscape and spirit of Tuscany, Kristin Wirfs and Mason Fellows celebrated their wedding in the beautiful venue of Langdon Farms Golf Club. Their Tuscan-themed celebration was showcased in a charming rustic barn setting, creating an enchanting and romantic ambiance. In keeping with the picturesque theme, Kristin wore a dreamy gown, while her bridesmaids complemented her look with understated nude-colored floor-length dresses. White- and neutral-colored florals elegantly flowed throughout the ceremony site and in reception tablescapes, accented by olive branches and custom bespoke signage that enhanced the whimsical European feel of the day. The décor also emanated a sense of the ethereal and organic, with unique elements that surprised those in attendance. Among the elements was a white rose photo backdrop with fun party props provided to capture precious moments during the festivities. To honor loved ones who have passed away, the couple included mementos that blended seamlessly into the celebration. A touching tribute included Kristin wearing a ring given to her by her Greek godmother, Meropi, symbolizing their close bond and cherished relationship. AMY & HANS
Married & Celebrated: CEDAR BLOOM, CAVE JUNCTION
Date: JULY 29, 2023
College sweethearts Amy Villella and Hans Reitan met while attending school in Wisconsin, and after graduation, they made Portland their new home. For their wedding celebration, they knew a camping wedding was a must, and they chose one of their favorite spots, Cedar Bloom—named by Hipcamp as the number-one campground in Oregon in 2023—for just that reason. The popular area provided an intimate setting together with dreamy vistas for the outdoor festivities. The design scheme centered around a jewel-toned palette, accenting the venue’s natural beauty, while the floral design incorporated shades of yellow, ruby red, white and pink. Committed to sustainability, the couple chose 100% organic and locally sourced florals from southern Oregon and used pine cones for their table-number holders, with each table also named after a place the couple has adventured to over the years. Amy wore a charming V-neck lace dress, while her bridesmaids donned earthy and floral-colored dresses of various styles. After the reception, Amy and Hans spontaneously jumped into the river in their full wedding attire, along with 50 of their guests, to top off the exhilarating day, making for one unforgettable moment. —Jenny Castro
