Review on Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers

The notorious film Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers, the second subtitle of the saga Lord of The Rings, was released 20 years ago. During all this time, a giant community of fans has been active and continues to support the fantasy world created by John Ronald Tolkien. In brief, this particular film is centred on Aragorn, a member of the Fellowship of the Ring, a society with the mission of destroying the Ring of Power, central subject of the saga. This film begins when Gandalf resurrects as Gandalf, The White, after fighting Balrog, a demon from the Mines of Moria. Then, the fellowship departs to save Merry and Pippin, members of the group, and with the help of the Ents, mythological creatures that live in forests and are able to speak, defeat Saruman and destroy Isengard, ally of Mordor, ruled by Sauron. At the same time, Frodo and Sam try to enter Mordor to destroy the Ring, with a new unlikely ally, Gollum, a horrible creature possessed by the Ring of Power. The film ends with the battle of Helm's Deep, where elves, dwarves and humans fight alongside against thousands of orc legions. This outstanding film features many famous actors such as Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo, Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, Orlando Bloom as Legolas and Billy Boyd as Pippin. From my perspective, this is one of the best films ever made, if not the best. I say this because the relationship between the second book and this film is sincerely positive, having many interesting characteristics added, such as more detailed battles, namely, the siege of Helm's Deep and a better way of actually seeing landscapes and characters, for instance. Furthermore, the actors' performances were quite good, mainly Ian McKellen and Orlando Bloom. In my opinion, the film was well done, being important to understand better descriptions and characters. Additionally, it follows the main subjects of the book and I really recommend watching it. João Henrique Guimarães, nº 20, 10ºG
