I teach a form of Yoga known as Hatha, which combines stretching the body with good breathing techniques. Many people might have great stamina and fitness but do not necessarily have flexibility and suppleness – and this is where Yoga can help enormously. Don’t be fooled by its apparent gentleness as you will go away from a class feeling as though you have really stretched your body fully. With more efficient breathing, your muscles will benefit from increased oxygen and be able to stretch safely whilst at the same time the toxins in your body are more easily expelled. The overall effect will leave you feeling relaxed, calm and less stressed.
My classes suit beginners and those with more experience alike. Please visit my website (www. judithdidham.co.uk) for further details on Yoga and other complementary therapies that I practise – reflexology, Indian head massage, Swedish body massage and aromatherapy. You are also welcome to phone me to book a place at one of my Yoga classes or to chat if you have any queries. My number is 01983 716144. You’ll also find me on Facebook – Judith Didham Yoga. What’s happening in our area by ‘local and vocal’ Lora Peacey-Wilcox COWES SEA CADETS: Are looking for Staff to help accommodate our growing number of cadets. Also some ‘helpers’ willing to carry out repairs/maintenance/clearing etc. Please call 247177 if you are able to spare an hour or two. Much Appreciated. FLOATING BRIDGE: My appreciation to all those that have respected the staff during the phase of reintroducing passenger charging. VECTIS HOUSING: I attended their away day recently. The effort that the staff put into ensuring residents are satisfied and have input into their homes is incredible; and the way they are trying to enhance their portfolio to secure their long term viability. Well done! SCAMS: I think we have all had a ‘dodgy’ email come through saying we have won a lottery; or indeed the letter to say we have won. Sadly, a number of people on the Island have become victims, including some that have lost their homes as a consequence. If you have or are being pursued PLEASE get in touch with our team, they are very understanding and can help take the worry away from you. Tel: 823371
Islanders told their life stories. I do hope the first group will become ambassadors for the next, and that they thrive and find work! HOUSING/AGE UK: If you are aged over 50 the Age UK IW Housing Options Team may be able to help if you need support. Tel:525282 GURNARD HUTS: I have received complaints about the smell of sewage from the pumping station. Southern Water have tried to disguise the fact it is a sewage outlet; and they do regular cleans to reduce the smell. Sewage from Gurnard and Northwood come through this area and end up in Sandown where it is treated. I am sure it is not a subject most of us think of when we flush the toilet... While I sympathise it is what it is. Little more can be done to alleviate the situation. I DID TRY! RUBBISH: After being contacted I arranged for another huge amount of rubbish to be removed from an alley way between Pelham and Thetis road. It is hopeful to find out who did this so they can incur the penalty.
NOISY DRAIN COVER: Thanks to the prompt action of Southern Water for dealing with EMPTY/DERELICT HOMES: If you know of any a very noisy drain cover at the bottom of in your area then please call: 247177. Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing) The ‘C’ word is the word no one wants to hear and if it doesn’t affect you directly then it may become part of your life through a family member or friend who is going through it as 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 1 in 2 men with other cancers in their lifetime. The word Cancer sends shivers down most spines. Such is its intimidating nature, even with the advances medical science has made in successfully dealing with it; it still retains the fear factor. So having people around who are empathic and able to offer real support can be critical. Usually it is one’s partner and family who provide this; however they too may need support and consideration, which can so easily be overlooked Every person deals with it in a different way but it is important to know that there is support and help out there. Back in 2011 the Isle of Wight Prostate and Urology Cancer Support group, an Island based group was started by fellow travellers to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for radiotherapy treatment.

Resin Stone Driveways Beautiful Surface Overlays - for your driveway What is a Resin Stone Overlay?
BEFOR
E
Resin Stone Overlaying is effectively surfacing over your existing block-paved, tarmac or concrete driveway, path or patio. Resin Overlays provide a highly cost-effective and quick way of replacing the surface in the Garden or on the Driveway. As well as being aesthetically pleasing and highly durable, the benefits include: Being both solvent and odour free, during and after application - Restricting growth of weeds - Eliminating loose stones Being environmentally friendly - Compliance with Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).
How is it done?
We initially prepare the existing surface using a high-pressure jet washer system and primer, before applying your chosen resin stone combination. The overlays typically take 1-2 days with minimal inconvenience.
Finishing
We also offer a range of natural or blended stone and surrounding landscaping options including moon stone to truly personalise your resin installation.
