So,IseethelocalFreshwaterwildlifewas outinforceagainlastnight.Nothing unusualbuttheywereveryactive,andI waswonderingwhatwasnexttobebroken orburned,Sainsbury’smustbestruggling tokeepupwiththeirlossesbecausetheir handsaretiedaswell,sotheysay.Ihave livedinFreshwatersince1985andthings hasneverbeenthisbad,althoughthere weretwopublicmeetingsheldatthesports centreandsincethensomeoftheparents havebeenmeetinguptoseewhatcanbe done,ifanything,tocurbthebehaviourof theseyoungsters…..Apparently.
Itisnosecretthatwewerepersonally attackedandsufferedagreatdealof damage,thiscausedalotofdistressandwe arestilllivinglifeonedge,nottomention thefinanciallosses.Wewerecontactedby somequangodepartmentfromcountyhall andIwillsharebelowaneditedversionof theemailthatIhavereceivedwithyou.
Whenayoungpersoncommitsanoffenceandit isdealtwithbyanOutofCourtdisposal,the victimoftheircrimeiscontactedbythelocal YouthOffendingTeam,RestorativeJustice Service.
AsaconsequenceoftheCriminalDamage offencecommittedagainstyouon5/12/22and 2/01/23theyoungpersoninvolvedwasseenat IOWMagistratesYouthCourt,forwhichthey receivedaReferralOrder.
Althoughundertheirordertheyhavetoengage withtheYouthOffendingTeamandattend requiredappointments,theydonothavetocarry outreparationunlesstheyareremorsefulfor theiractionsandwanttorepairtheharmthat hasbeencausedtoensureitisameaningful experienceforallinvolved.
Ofcourse,thereweremoredatesbutthey donotwanttomentionthat,what intriguedmewasthefactthattheymaybe

Aplanningdecisionisstillawaitedon theproposedandcontroversialsolarfarm atThorley,whichhasattractedmuch discussionwithinthecommunitiesof YarmouthandThorley.LocalIW CouncillorPeterSpinkhasaskedthat thisapplicationandonefornewfacilities atTapnellFarmbedeterminedbythe IWCPlanningCommittee.
YarmouthTownCouncilhasenjoyed oneminorvictory,albeitindirectly. RunningfromtheHighStreetarea numberof‘sealanes’,unadoptedpaths leadingtotheSolent.Winterstormshad causedconsiderabledamagetothesea endofoneofthese,RefugeLane,and YTCappliedtovariousofficialbodiesto havetheerodedarearepaired,butall deniedanyresponsibilityforthetask. However,anunknownfairygodmother haswaivedherwand,andthedamage hasbeensortedout!

Evenifyoucan’tdriveyoucanmakearealdifferenceasa volunteerPassengerAssistant.PAsarethe“cabin-crew”for FYTbusonourscheduledweek-dayservicesandtheirrole includeswelcomingpassengerstothebusandhelpingwith theirseatbeltsandanyluggage(orshopping).Theonly thingmissingisthatthere’snodrinksserviceonboard! PAsalsocollectfaresanddonationsandassistthedriver withpick-upanddropoffpoints.
FYTbus Community Bus Services
Our scheduled weekday morning services can be used by anyone. The standard adult fare is £2 but travel is free if you have a concessionary bus pass. and if you have a FYTpass , available at our office, your fare will be just £1.00. We will help you on and off the bus with your shopping.
Medical Trips are available to help you reach appointments in Newport (£15.00) or at Brookside Health Centre, (£7.50) and can be booked via our website or by phoning the office.
Our wheelchair accessible car can convey a disabled passenger, and their carer if required, on medical trips in their own wheelchair.
Saturday shopping trips to Newport are available at two-weekly intervals to the Newport shops and Waitrose at East Cowes. This month’s door-to-door shopping trips will run on 8th April and 22nd please ring us to book.
