I’malsoassuredthatthecontractoris qualifiedfortheremovalofhazardous materialsuchasasbestos.Ifyouhaveany additionalconcernsorcomplaints regardingthedemolition,pleasedogetin touchandIraisethemwiththerelevant councilteam.

TheHAZ(fundedbyHistoricEngland, NewportandCarisbrookeCommunity CouncilandIsleofWightCouncil)is workinginpartnershipwithSouthern WatertointroducenewSustainable DrainageSystemstothestreet.Theaim ofthisistoreducecombinedsewer overflowsintotheMedinaEstuary.

TheFriendsofStMary’sHospitalCharityhascome thoroughsometurbulenttimesinthelastfewyears,but thegoodnewsisthattheyhavesurvivedtotellthetale.
Inspiteofbeingasmalleroperationwithjusttheshop onthegroundfloorfoyer,theyhavemadeitto2023ina healthystateandarecontinuingtosupportand supplementtheexcellentserviceattheIsland’sNHS Trust,withtheirmissiontoraisemoneytoprovide equipmentandfacilitiestohelpmaketheexperience betterforpatientsandstaff.

£49,000worthofequipmentlast yearincludingnewwheelchairs atboththemainandnorth receptiondesksforvolunteersto usewhensupportingvisitorstothetrustwhomayhavemobilityproblems.Wewere abletosupplykeyrapidresponseequipmentknown asanEMMAdevicetotherapidresponsekitthatis heldbytheon-callODPteamandfinallywewere abletosupplyresourcessuchasgames,booksand sensorytoysforthePaediatricsOccupational TherapyDepartment.Wearealsoveryexcited aboutfundingaveryspecialimmersivetraining experienceinthenewambulancecentre.Thisis focusedonimprovingimmediatecareontheIsland tosavelivesincriticalsituationsbothforindividuals andthoseinvolvedinamajorincident”.
