an exceptional selection of beachfront and garden bures. They may not steal the headlines like the overwater bures, but they're first-class all the same. For example, Deluxe Beachfront Villas come with their own private courtyard and plunge pool, along with a 'steps from the sand' location. If the standard of accommodation is superb, it is matched by the sumptuous cuisine on offer. The food philosophy focuses on fresh, clean, creative cooking. Premium local produce and seafood is showcased where possible, along with the tropical fruits that Fiji is famous for.
Likuliku also has an all-inclusive food policy i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the room tariff. It's a system that allows guests to sit back and enjoy the dining experience on offer. Instead of looking through the menu and comparing prices, guests can simply select the dish they're tempted by. (And there will be many). In between meals, there is plenty to keep guests occupied - if they so choose. Paying a visit to Likuliku's Tatadra Spa is certainly one of the resort's must-do's. Nestled on the lush green slopes of the island, the spa provides panoramic lagoon views - for a moment at least. (Most guests soon find themselves drifting off into a state of pure relaxation). The spa menu includes a full range of massage therapies and beauty treatments. A real highlight is the signature Fijian-style massage incorporating naturally crafted “Pure Fiji” oils.
As you might imagine, water activities are phenomenal. The clear blue waters provide endless opportunities for swimming, snorkelling, paddle boarding and kayaking. More adventurous guests can access the world-class surf breaks nearby. If landing a catch sounds like fun, the resort offers an authentic handline fishing experience. A unique feature that must also be mentioned is Likuliku's very own iguana experience.
MOCIU PRIVATE ISLAND In 2018 Likuliku Lagoon Resort secured the lease of Mociu Island - a tiny, uninhabited island that is only 15 minutes boat ride from the resort. The island provides couples with the ultimate private getaway. Spend a couple of hours snorkelling the pristine reef surrounding the island. Watch the sunrise while enjoying a delicious champagne breakfast. Or choose a romantic private picnic that will long live in memory.
Iguana have a special place in Fiji and particularly on Malolo Island. Likuliku takes great pride in the resort’s Iguana Sanctuary and the work they do to ensure this unique creature's survival. Guests are welcome to see the sanctuary (and iguana) for themselves. This includes a tour of breeding cages and the dry forest habitat which is led by the Likuliku's Environment Manager.

Malolo Island Resort offers the best of both worlds. Tucked just around the next headland from Likuliku Lagoon Resort, Malolo Island Resort shares an equally beautiful location but caters to a much wider audience. You could say there's something for everyone. The resort has long been a favourite with visiting families - its kid's club programmes are among the best in Fiji. (Our own children have spent many an hour being entertained here). The set-up also allows parents to have some 'me-time' - which is an important part of every family holiday! Being a small, friendly resort its also super-easy for kids to make new holiday friends - chances
are they'll be running around with fellow Kiwi or Aussie kids a matter of minutes after arriving! Visitors coming without kids can find their own slice of paradise too. For something extra special, couples can choose one of two Tadra Beach Bures at the quietest end of the resort. They come with wide verandahs, four-poster beds and are steps from the sand. Grown-ups have their own pool (and a swim-up pool bar to match). Plus Malolo Island Resort has created designated dining zones with the Treetops Restaurant limited to children 13+. The Talei Lounge is also an adults-only 'quiet' zone with a library, games and music system.
Regardless of age, everyone will enjoy the fabulous water sports on offer. The beach in front of the resort is perfect for snorkelling, kayaking, windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding. The Mamanuca's are well-known for their fantastic diving and the resort has an excellent dive centre with PADI qualified diving professionals offering a full range of underwater experiences - from intro course for complete beginners, right through to advanced open water courses. There are 44 diving sites in the area including reefs, drop-offs, pinnacles, dive-throughs and wreck dives – ie, divers are spoiled for choice. If staying on land is preferred, there are several walking tracks that wind their way around the island. Many offer panoramic ocean views. And if guests feel like a decent hike, they can walk to the summit of Malolo Island (Mt Uluisilo) - where they will also discover the remnants of an American built WW11 fort. And after all that exertion there's only one place to go - Leilani's Spa for a well-deserved massage or beauty treatment!
KIDS RULE!
Malolo Island Resort consistently rates as one of Fiji's top family resorts. There's a separate kids pool, an innovative kids club programme, an entertainment lounge and a dining area for children 13 years and older. The Kids' Club in Tia's Treehouse is set on the hillside under an enormous mango tree and is always a hive of activity.
The older kid's don't miss out either. The fully air-conditioned Khail’s Club lounge is a “tweenager” hangout where 9-17-year-olds have their own space to have fun. Along with traditional Fijian games, there are books, arts and crafts - which keep them off the screens! Plus there's a karaoke machine and dance floor to go with it!
