More Than Meets the Eye

When it comes to travel in the South Pacific, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking we’ve seen it all before. A white sand beach here, a luxury resort there – surely one island is much the same as the next? But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Each South Pacific destination offers its own distinct rhythm, culture, and character – and no place proves that more than Fiji. For many visitors, ‘Fiji’ often means the brand-name resorts on Denarau or the islandhopping playground of the Mamanucas. While these spots deliver the kind of holiday magic Fiji is famous for, there’s so much more waiting to be discovered.

In this issue, we invite you to take a step back and look at Fiji with fresh eyes. From the untamed beauty of Kadavu and Taveuni, to hidden gems on Vanua Levu and Viti Levu’s Suncoast, Fiji is as diverse as it is welcoming.

We’re also excited to introduce a brand-new section, Explore Beyond – where we venture beyond the Pacific to shine a light on popular global destinations. We kick off with the vibrant city of Hong Kong – a dynamic blend of culture, cuisine, and citymeets-nature energy that makes it an amazing stopover or standalone getaway.

We hope you enjoy the read.

Mamanuca Islands

The Many Faces of Fiji

Ask someone to picture Fiji, and chances are they'll describe palm-fringed beaches, the turquoise waters of the Mamanucas, and those ever-popular resort stays on Denarau. But beyond the brochure-friendly hotspots lies a country full of contrast and character – where lush rainforests, remote islands, vibrant cultures, and off-the-beaten-track adventures are waiting to be explored. From the rugged beauty of Kadavu to the highlands of Taveuni, every corner of Fiji has a different story to tell.

Everything in One

Place

Big, bold, and buzzing with energy, Denarau Island is the vibrant hub of Fiji’s tourism scene. With a collection of premium international brand resorts, boutique shopping, lively bars and restaurants, luxurious spas, adults-only retreats, kid-friendly clubs, a golf course, and a bustling marina, Denarau has something for every traveller.

Just 15 minutes from Nadi International Airport, Denarau is a destination in its own right - you could easily stay here and never feel the need to leave. But for those looking to explore further, Denarau is also the gateway to the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands, with regular ferry services, day cruises, and snorkelling excursions ready to take you deeper into paradise.

Dining Delights

Port Denarau is home to some of Fiji’s best dining experiences, offering a variety of cuisines, from fresh seafood to Italian, Mexican, Asian, and authentic Fijian flavours. With al fresco and waterfront dining options, it’s the perfect setting to enjoy exceptional cuisine, warm island breezes, and expertly crafted cocktails.

Play A Round

Denarau Golf and Racquet Club is home to the South Pacific’s premier golf course, offering a relaxed yet challenging experience for players of all levels. In addition to golf, the club features tennis courts and a family-friendly mini golf course. After your game, the clubhouse provides a welcoming space to unwind with wood-fired pizzas, roast specials, a full-service bar, and live sports.

How To Get There

Denarau is an easy 15-20 minute drive from Nadi International Airport. Taxis and transfers are readily available.

VANUA LEVU Walk on the Wild Side

©Nukubati Resort

The second largest Fijian island, 60 kilometres north of the main island, Vanua Levu offers you a Pacific Island holiday at a slower pace and with less commercialisation. Outstanding resorts in a supernatural environment take advantage of the wonderful attributes of the Island. Outstanding reefs, including the Great Sea Reef- the third-longest continuous barrier reef system in the world, surround the island and provide outstanding snorkelling and diving. Plenty to keep you occupied-tubing trip down the Sekawa River, visiting wonderful waterfalls and soaking in a hot mud spa in the middle of the jungle.

Chasing Waterfalls

Tucked away near Vuadomo village, just 20 minutes from Savusavu, Vuadomo Waterfall is a must-see gem on Vanua Levu. A scenic coastal drive and short paved walk lead you to this lush, easily accessible waterfall— perfect for a refreshing swim or photo op. Its natural beauty and convenience make it a favourite stop for travellers exploring Fiji’s northern island.

Fiji Sustainable Pearls

Savusavu is home to Justin Hunter Pearl Farm. Oysters that produce the pearls require clean water and thrive in the local environment. The Farm has an arrangement with local villages-supplying them pearl seed and then buying the mature pearls developed by villagers, providing income for villagers and an incentive to keep bays clean. A tour of the Farm and the bay gives you a chance to see the operation from start to finish and the chance to swim alongside the suspended oyster lines and over a giant clam nursery.

How To Get There

From Nadi Airport, domestic flights to Savusavu and Labasa Airports take an hour. Ferries and coastal ships travel between Suva and Savusavu and Labasa. The trip can take approximately 5 hours and sometimes longer-a great way to travel with the locals.

The Centre of Adventure

If a bit of adventure is your thing, Pacific Harbour is your destination. Known as the Adventure Capital of Fiji, Pacific Harbour offers abseiling, dune buggies, white water rafting, river tubing, sport fishing and spectacular dive and snorkelling sites. If a bit of water adventure is on your list don’t miss the pristine Beqa Lagoon. After a short ferry trip, you can dive into an extraordinary underwater world, filled with soft-coral reefs, intriguing wrecks and over 300 species of fish! Beqa Lagoon is also home to the Shark Reef Marine Reserve, where you can get up close and personal with up to eight species of sharks.

River Adventure- White Water

Rafting the Upper Navua Gorge

Check out Rivers Fiji and head out in one of their inflatable rafts with their expert guides to explore the spectacular Navua River Canyon. In what is the experience of a lifetime, you will be guided through rainforests, past numerous waterfalls and will ride Class II-III rapids. Rivers Fiji are proud to offer a unique trip in a beautiful, impressive part of Fiji.

Jewel of Fiji River Tour and Village Experience

Prefer something a little more sedate? The Jewel of Fiji Tour starts with motorised long boat ride up the Navua River to a village where you will experience a Welcome Kava Ceremony, a traditional lovo lunch, entertainment and warm hospitality. Float on a bilibili (bamboo raft) for a taste of how Fijians navigated between remote villages on the picturesque Navua River. Travel up the river to the Magic Waterfalls for an invigorating waterfall swim. A special day tour that will create forever memories.

How To Get There

Take a rental car and drive approximately two and a half hours from Nadi. The drive provides magnificent scenery and charming villages.

A taxi transfer comes with a reasonable fare bill and there are regular bus services. Island Hoppers Helicopter services travel from Nadi to the major resorts.

CORAL COAST

Active Relaxation

An easy 1–1.5 hour drive from Nadi, the Coral Coast is where postcardperfect beaches meet colourful reefs. Whether you're after a familyfriendly resort or a cosy boutique escape, you'll find plenty of options to suit your style. While lounging by the pool is always tempting, there’s a whole world of adventure waiting beyond the resort.

Hop on a jet boat and speed up the Sigatoka River to visit a traditional Fijian village, where you’ll experience warm Fijian hospitality. Or take things at a slower pace and cycle through lush landscapes on solarpowered bikes with Ecotrax. Animal lovers can meet turtles and iguanas at Kula Wild Adventure Park, while history buffs can wander the towering dunes of Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park, home to some of Fiji’s earliest archaeological finds. And if you're up for a challenge, grab your clubs and take on the stunning Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.

Sigatoka River Safari

This award-winning adventure takes you far off the beaten path, deep into the Fijian interior aboard a custom-built safari jet boat. More than just an adrenaline-pumping wind-in-your-hair scenic ride, this experience immerses you in authentic Fijian village life. Meet locals, embrace their traditions, and even sample unique flavours that capture the spirit of Fiji.

Ecotrax Rail Biking Adventure

Hop aboard the world’s only rail-mounted, electric-assisted push bike carriages with Ecotrax. Enjoy a leisurely ride along historic train tracks, passing lush forests, rock cuttings, charming villages, and endless Bula smiles along the way. Your journey leads to a secluded beach, where you can relax with fresh tropical fruits and coconut water before diving into crystal-clear waters for a swim or snorkel.

How To Get There

The easiest way to reach the Coral Coast from Nadi Airport is by rental car or private transfer.

MAMANUCA ISLANDS

Pure Island Bliss

A very special Fijian experience is offered by a volcanic archipelago to the west of Nadi. Consisting of 20 islands, the Mamanucas are the epitome of the tropical islands of dreams.

If your dream tropical island involves crystal clear seas, golden sands, swaying palm trees, coral fringed lagoons and amazing tropical fish, the Mamanucas are for you.

With numerous outstanding resorts, the Mamanucas have options that suit all guests from family friendly to secluded adults only. Whatever your choice, you can be sure that all options will have all you require to enjoy Pacific hospitality, relaxation and adventure.

You can be assured there will be a glistening swimming pool, a luxurious spa and extensive water sport choices-kayaking, windsurfing, jet skiing and snorkelling. There is the obvious relaxation on golden sand beaches enjoying a cocktail or two before heading to classy restaurants offering fresh Fijian cuisine.

If you feel like an enjoyable excursion away from the resort, you can enjoy an authentic Fijian experience-a tour of a local village to visit a local school, a browse at craft markets and enjoying the warm welcome from the locals.

Cloud 9

A bar and restaurant on a double storey, floating pontoon, Cloud 9 offers a unique Pacific experience. Take a boat transfer from your resort and enjoy snorkelling and swimming in a pristine environment, a cocktail bar and gourmet wood fire pizzeria on the ‘platform of dreams’ a must-visit on any tropical Fiji escape.

Enjoy Fiji’s Underwater World

Whichever resort you select you will be able to enjoy snorkelling and diving in warm, clear waters easily accessible from your resort. Shallow, calm waters are ideal for novice divers looking to take their first breath underwater. With sensational marine life to be viewed, snorkelling and diving for all levels of experience and ability is a must.

Enjoy Fijian Culture

Some resorts will assist you with a visit to a local village. There are protocols to be observed but the experience is enjoyable as well as rewarding. It’s an experience of lifetime to be welcomed into a village, to meet locals and to enjoy a glimpse of their culture and lifestyle.

How To Get There

The Mamanuca Islands can be accessed by air from Nadi Airport or via ferry or water taxi from Port Denarau. Travel time depends on your destination but is likely to be an hour and a half. An exciting option is to use Island Hoppers Helicopters from Nadi to most resorts-an excellent way to start a fabulous vacation.

The Garden Isle

Known as the Garden Isle, Taveuni is a nature lover’s dream. If you enjoy an unspoiled paradise, Taveuni is a must. Walking, hiking, swimming and diving in a pristine, natural island will undoubtedly reconnect you with nature.

Activities here are mostly nature-based. Waterfalls in the jungle or worldfamous dive sites or hiking trails criss-crossing the Bouma National Heritage Park with over 100 species of birds, the range of activities reflect the brilliance of the island.

Visitors are serviced by accommodation from 5-star resorts to budget guest houses all taking advantage of their natural surroundings. And make a visit to Dateline Hotel where you can stand with a foot on each side of the International Dateline.

Exploring Des Voeux Peak and Beyond

A real chance to enjoy nature at its most impressive. A 4WD up to Des Voeux Peak takes you to a jungle brimming with native birdlife. If you are a serious hiker, travel further to the crater Lake Tagimoucia, 823 metres above sea level where views are spectacular and flora and fauna breathtaking. It is a steep, long walk but worth every step for trampers who enjoy visiting the best.

The Lavena Coastal Walk

The Lavena Coastal Walk offers a full day 10km hiking trip. Starting at Lavena village and following a well-maintained trail, you will experience beaches, rocky outcrops and two wonderful waterfalls and swimming holes. If you wish (and if the tide suits) you can arrange to trek out and boat back catching views of the waterfall that falls dramatically into the ocean.

How To Get There

Fiji Airways and domestic carriers operate regular flights from Nadi to Taveuni (an hour and a half). For a scenic journey, take a ferry or boat from Suva (up to 16 hours). Island Hoppers offer helicopter or fixed wing transfers from Nadi.

Dive into the Quiet Life

Seeking the Fiji experience version of the quiet life, consider making the picturesque, authentic Suncoast, your chosen slice of paradise. Featuring golden beaches, lush mountains, traditional villages and crystal-clear seas, the Suncoast has it all and is able to be enjoyed away from the rushing crowds.

In relative peace, you will enjoy stunning sea views, delightful resorts with outstanding restaurants, inviting bars and access to some of Fiji’s best snorkelling, diving, swimming, kayaking and water sports. Home to Pure Fiji Water and world class coral reefs, Suncoast offers all that is great about your Fiji experience in relaxed and hospitable surroundings.

Narara Village and Waterslide Excursion

You start at Narara Village where you will be welcomed with a kava ceremony and will then be guided by foot or horseback for 15 minutes to a cascading waterfall plunging into a freshwater pool. Enjoy one of nature’s marvels-your very own waterslide into beautiful fresh water. A fantastic chance to combine a cultural experience with a water adventure.

Take a Dolphin Cruise

The opportunity to watch dolphins in the Bligh Water just off the Suncoast is unparalleled. The special location that is part of the cruise hosts pods of up to 40 dolphins performing in their natural habitat. The dolphins often interact and circle the boat and once you have finished watching, enjoy 30 minutes of snorkelling among the colourful fish and coral of the outer reefs.

Bringing Back the Giants

Tridacna gigas, or the giant clam, is the largest bivalve on earth, growing over 2 metres long and weighing more than 200 kg. In ancient Fiji, their massive shells were even used as baths for chiefly children. However, due to overfishing, giant clams have become extinct in many of their original habitats, including Fiji.

To restore the species, a government-led programme began in the 1980s, importing clams from Queensland, Australia. In 2000, Tokoriki Diving at Tokoriki Island Resort became the first to reintroduce them to western Fiji. Juvenile clams are initially placed in metal cages on the reef until they reach 30 cm, after which they are moved to a protected area to form a breeding colony.

Giant clams can live for over a hundred years, releasing millions of eggs in their lifetime. By supporting them through their early years and establishing protected breeding areas, conservation efforts aim to repopulate local reefs, benefiting both marine biodiversity and local fisheries.

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa has introduced a distinctive new offering for groups, conferences, and event delegates—the Vanua Immersion Dinner. Strong Growth. Bright Future: Samoa Tourism Exchange 2025

The Samoa Tourism Exchange (STE) 2025 brought together the heart of Samoa's travel industry for two busy days in Apia - showcasing the latest developments, as well as strengthening connections with established operators.

Hosted by the Samoa Tourism Authority and supported by major sponsors including Fiji Airways, Air New Zealand, and premier resort partners, the event featured 44 passionate local exhibitors - hotels, resorts, airlines, and tour operators - all eager to highlight their diverse offerings across the islands. The format included a full schedule of one-on-one meetings, product presentations, and prize giveaways.

There was a real energy in the air – and the message was clear: Samoa's tourism sector is thriving - with visitor numbers climbing, airline capacity expanding, and increasing interest from the traditional Kiwi market, alongside steady growth from Australia, Europe and North America.

The event emphasised tourism's important role in Samoa – it's not just about economic growth, but also about preserving and sharing the country's rich cultural heritage. It’s great to see Samoa gaining recognition on the global stage, and if the feedback from STE is any indication, the future looks very promising.

Back in Action: Vanuatu Welcomes Kiwi Travel Trade

The Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) recently rolled out the welcome mat for some of New Zealand’s top travel industry partners, hosting reps from House of Travel, Flight Centre, Go Holidays, Our Pacific, and Solomon Airlines NZ GSA on a famil to see Port Vila’s post-earthquake revival.

The group toured key resorts, soaked up Vanuatu’s legendary hospitality, and wandered through the newly relocated Mama’s Markets and retail spots in Port Vila. More than just a sightseeing trip, this was a chance to see how the island has bounced back—stronger, more vibrant, and ready to welcome Kiwis with open arms.

A big focus of the trip was rebuilding the New Zealand visitor market, with VTO unveiling fresh itineraries, a new famil programme, and extra resources for travel agents keen to promote Vanuatu.

The response? Extremely positive. Tim Uelese from Go Holidays called it a “foodie’s paradise.” Julia Bozich from House of Travel pointed out the growing demand for multigenerational holidays (Vanuatu is a winner for all ages), while Mariana Stoyanova from Flight Centre was surprised by how little visible impact the earthquake had left.

Backing the island’s comeback, Solomon Airlines reaffirmed its commitment to the region, with NZ GSA Julie Rice highlighting Auckland’s growing role as a key hub for the airline. And with plenty of international visitors already making the most of Vanuatu’s sun, sea, and culture, the Kiwi travel experts left with no doubt—this South Pacific gem is well and truly back in action.

For New Zealand holidaymakers looking for a tropical escape with heart, Vanuatu is ready and waiting.

Breakas Beach Resort is an intimate tropical retreat providing the ultimate “feet in the sand” beach holiday. Enhanced by the natural beauty of a private cove on Pango peninsular, Breakas Beach Resort rests in an unrivaled backdrop in Port Vila. The Award Winning Resort features a stunning 22-metre infinity pool which falls into the horizon of the Pacific Ocean.

Port Vila’s Map Keeps Visitors on Track

To help travellers find their way around post-quake Port Vila, a temporary map has been released, showing relocated businesses, tour departure points, Mama’s Markets, Vanuatu Made outlets, closed areas, and current road closures. (It’s designed to work alongside the detailed HotSpots maps, which include contact details and local services.) As roads reopen and more businesses settle into new locations, the map is regularly updated - so visitors are encouraged to check the date in the top right corner to make sure they’ve got the latest version. Late February saw over 20 netball teams from New Zealand and Australia join local competitors for the first-ever Tiare Netball Celebration in Rarotonga. Over three match days at Raemaru Park on the west coast, teams competed in spirited competitive, semicompetitive, and social grades, while also enjoying two big social functions at Edgewater Resort and Spa – the event HQ. Participants and their many supporters had plenty of opportunities to explore the island, with iconic experiences like Koka Lagoon Cruises on Muri Lagoon proving a hit. Needless to say, a fantastic time was had by all, new friendships were made, and in the end, everyone was a winner. The icing on the cake? Event organiser Pacific Sport Celebrations has confirmed the tournament will return next year, running from Sunday 22 February to Sunday 1 March 2026. Whale Watching in Tonga: A

Once-in-aLifetime Encounter

From July to late October, Tonga becomes one of the best places on earth to witness the magic of humpback whales. These gentle giants migrate from the icy waters of Antarctica to Tonga’s warm, sheltered seas to mate, give birth, and nurse their young.

Watching them in their natural habitat—breaching, tail-slapping, or gliding gracefully through the water—is nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Where to See Whales in Tonga

Whale watching and swimming tours operate across Tonga’s island groups, each offering a unique way to encounter these incredible creatures. Tongatapu’s calm, shallow waters make it ideal for spotting mother whales and their calves as they rest and play.

‘Eua is known for its close proximity to whale pods, often requiring only a short boat ride before the action begins. Ha‘apai and Vava‘u, with their pristine surroundings and abundant marine life, provide some of the most consistent whale sightings throughout the season.

Swimming with Humpback Whales

Tonga is one of the few places in the world where you can legally swim alongside humpback whales. This strictly regulated activity ensures safety for both humans and whales, with licensed guides leading small groups for intimate, respectful encounters. Imagine floating in the blue depths as a curious calf circles playfully nearby, or watching in quiet amazement as a mother and baby glide effortlessly past - moments that stay with you forever.

Best Time to Visit

While humpbacks can start arriving as early as June and linger into November, the best time to see them is from July to October. Early in the season, newborn calves stay close to their mothers, while by September and October, they grow more adventurous, making for playful and engaging encounters. Even from shore, you can often spot juveniles showing off with spectacular breaches and fin slaps.

Ethical and Sustainable Encounters

Tonga takes the protection of its whales seriously. Strict government regulations ensure that all encounters are conducted in a way that respects the whales’ natural behaviour. Boats must keep a safe distance unless the whales choose to approach, making for ethical and unforgettable experiences.

Explore Beyond

Discover the Magic of Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a city that never sits still—a thrilling mix of East and West, where old traditions meet cutting-edge modernity. For Kiwi travellers, it’s an adventure waiting to happen, whether you’re here for the sport, the nightlife, or the legendary food. With its compact size and super-efficient transport, it’s ideal for a short getaway or an action-packed stopover.

Kai Tak Sports Park

World-Class Entertainment Complex is Now Open

Sitting on the old Kai Tak Airport site in Kowloon, the brand-new Kai Tak Sports Park is Hong Kong’s ultimate playground for visiting sports fans, music lovers, and foodies. This massive 28-hectare complex brings together top-tier stadiums, vibrant community spaces, and a wide selection of shopping and dining spots—all in one amazing location. Let’s run through the highlights:

Kai Tak Stadium

At the heart of the park is Kai Tak Stadium, a 50,000-seat showstopper with a retractable roof and a pitch that can shift between natural turf and other

surfaces. The stadium will be home to high-energy sport (think Hong Kong Sevens) and star-studded concerts (Coldplay visit in April). And with its retractable roof, it provides all-weather entertainment no matter the conditions.

Kai Tak Arena

Kai Tak Arena is a state-of-the-art 10,000-seat venue that hosts everything from badminton and basketball to gymnastics and live gigs. Its pillar-free design means every seat gets a top-notch view.

Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground

Kai Tak Sports Park isn’t just about the pros—it’s also a hub for local talent and community sport. Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground features a 5,000-seat stadium and an IAAF-standard athletic track. The public gets free access to keep fit and have a go.

Kai Tak Mall

The cherry on top? Kai Tak Mall has been designed as a ‘sportainment’ concept—it’s home to over 200 shops, including concept and flagship stores of major sports brands. Kids will love Epicland Playground, Namco Entertainment Arena, a 40-lane bowling alley, and Hong Kong’s tallest rock climbing wall at 17.5 metres! And of course, there is food!

Food Gala is a 20,000 sq ft food court offering fresh flavours from Japan, Korea, China, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Then add in Dining Cove, a 32,000 sq ft dining destination with over 70 restaurants and eateries.

How to Get There

Kai Tak Sports Park is just a 10-minute walk from MTR Kai Tak Station and Sung Wong Toi Station, making it easy to reach from anywhere in the city. Kai Tak Sports Park is a very exciting addition to Hong Kong’s travel landscape, and it will no doubt become one of the city’s must-visit destinations.

Top Street Eats

Hong Kong’s street food scene is an all-out sensory adventure - think sizzling woks, mouth-watering aromas, and bold, punchy flavours at every turn. Here are a few culinary highlights:

Drink: Sugar Cane Juice

Nearly every street food stall has a drinks section, and one of the best picks is a cup of freshly pressed sugar cane juice. Sweet, refreshing, and packed with natural energy, it’s made on the spot by feeding steamed sugar cane through a pressing machine. They’re easy to spot - just look for a big bucket of sugar canes out the front!

Eat: Siu Mai & Curry Fish Balls

Considered Hong Kong street food royalty - Siu mai, a dim sum classic, and bouncy fish balls - usually found in noodle shops - are street stall staples. Unlike their restaurant version, street-style siu mai are made with a porkand-fish mix (instead of shrimp) and wrapped in a yellow, flour-based skin. They’re best enjoyed with soy sauce and chilli oil. Curry fish balls, on the other hand, are all about that chewy texture and rich, spicy curry sauce.

Lan Kwai Fong

Looking for a fun night out? Lan Kwai Fong, or ‘LKF’ as the locals call it – is a nightlife hotspot where Hong Kong comes alive after dark. With over 100 bars and restaurants in short walking distance - simply take your pick of classy rooftop cocktails, intimate live music sessions, or a full-on clubbing experience. So slip on your party shoes, and get ready for a night to remember. Here are some local LKF Favourites:

Temple Street
Kai Tak Arena

OMA

Oma is an underground gem - a haven for house, trance, and bass lovers. Over the past decade, it’s built a loyal following, championing the city’s techno scene with a steady stream of local talent and international DJs. If you’re after a night of deep, hypnotic grooves, Oma is the place to be.

Stockton

Tucked away down an alley off Wyndham Street, Stockton is a moody, lounge-style bar that takes you back to Victorian-era London. Think vintage leather couches, dark wood interiors, and antique artwork. A magnet for Hong Kong’s stylish night owls.

Ngong Ping: Spirituality Meets Breathtaking Scenery

Nestled at the foot of Lantau Peak on Lantau Island, Ngong Ping plateau is a place of serenity, culture, and jaw-dropping views. Home to the 119-year-old Po Lin Monastery and the towering Big Buddha, this spiritual haven blends ancient Buddhist traditions with stunning natural beauty. Walk the Wisdom Path for sweeping vistas, explore the thoughtprovoking ‘Heart Sutra’ installation, or take in the landscape from above on the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car. Whether you’re here for reflection or adventure, Ngong Ping delivers an unforgettable experience.

Exceptional Events

Hong Kong’s events calendar is packed with world-class festivals, thrilling sports, and vibrant cultural celebrations that bring the city to life year-round. Here are a few top picks to plan for:

Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races

Get ready for pounding drums, roaring crowds, and some seriously fierce competition—because when dragon boats hit the waters of Victoria Harbour, it’s game on! Held during the Dragon Boat Festival (the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, usually late May or June), this adrenaline-charged event sees teams from all over the world paddle their hearts out in a blur of colour, energy, and tradition.

Mid-Autumn Festival

When the full moon rises over Hong Kong in September or October, the city comes alive with glowing lanterns, sweet mooncakes, and time-honoured traditions. The Mid-Autumn Festival is a magical night where families gather, kids parade with lanterns, and offerings of fruit and wine are made to the gods.

Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival

Every late October, Hong Kong comes alive with the flavours of the world at the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival. Set against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour, this vibrant event features hundreds of wine and food booths, offering a one-of-a-kind outdoor culinary experience. Visitors can enjoy tastings, cooking workshops, and live entertainment, making it a true feast for the senses.
