With facilities that include Oceans Restaurant and Bar, Spa Ariki, a waterfall pool, and the use of kayaks and snorkeling gear to explore the stunning white sand beach, leaving the resort is a choice not a must
The rooms are spacious, well positioned, light and airy, even the garden villas just a short stroll to the white sand beach.
For couples and singles there’s one bedroom beachfront and garden villas or more secluded courtyard private suites with plunge pools
For family or friend groups traveling together, there are two bedroom garden villas and two bedroom beachfront pool villas to choose from.
The main waterfall pool offers a lovely, cool reprieve on a warm day, with plenty of loungers. With the restaurant just a hop, skip and a jump away, you can enjoy food and cocktails poolside Also, check out the beachside hammocks
Food can be served in many picturesque locations around the resort Romantics can indulge in candlelit dinners on the beach or in a private thatched gazebo looking out to sea (home to a proposal when we visited!).
Or for a more upbeat vibe, dine inside the open air Oceans Restaurant and Bar Its themed evenings include a seafood night, Sunday roast and the popular Island Night Buffet and Show a must see
And for those nights when you just want to put your feet up in the privacy of your room, the restaurant will deliver from its a la carte menu. The seafood platter is a winner
The restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, also offers a great value happy hour, including $8 cocktails Make yourself at home at one of the many tables on the sand, with one hand on your drink and the other on your camera, ready to capture the perfect Rarontongan sunset
In walking distance of the resort are Dive Rarotonga and Ariki Adventures. Ariki offers several water based activities including turtle and shipwreck scooter safaris, a wonderful way to explore the open ocean
The adjoining Flying Turtle Cafe serves breakfast and lunch and the smoothies are delicious. The bus stop is situated just outside the resort, which is just 10 minutes from Rarotonga International Airport and a further 15 minutes to downtown Avarua
The reception will help you book activities, hire cars and bikes and give advice on getting around the beautiful island The staff at the resort are friendly and helpful, and the smaller size means you’ll receive that personal touch.
On our arrival, we’d missed dinner but had a meal thoughtfully left for us in the fridge and when one of our group celebrated a birthday, he was given a card and present from the staff
