Tourists are also attracted to Goa for its cultural heritage - from the famous old Portuguese churches like Se Cathedral in Old Goa, the 16th Century Safa Masjid in Ponda and Shree Mangesha Temple in Mardol, the legendary Arvalem or Pandava Caves where the Pandavas of the Mahabharat fame lived, to its two unique festivals - Carnival and Shigmo. Goa plays host to many festivals - the International Film Festival of India that promotes cinema, the Serendipity Art Festival, Sunburn Music Festival, The Grape Escapade to name a few. The roots of Absolut Villa trace back to 1993, the year when Madhu Mohta and her husband laid the foundation of their dream home. Built in 1997, with a young four-year-old Rahul Mohta beside his father during the Puja ceremony, the villa’s journey began with the promise of creating cherished family memories. Over nearly three decades, the villa evolved into a place of gatherings, festivities, and tranquil holidays by the sea. However, 2021 marked a turning point when the Mohtas decided to breathe new life into the villa, driven by a vision to create a luxurious yet comforting home-away-from-home for discerning travellers.

The decision to undertake an extensive renovation was not made overnight. It stemmed from years of contemplation and the desire to offer guests an unparalleled Goan experience. Inspired by their hotelier relatives, Rahul and Madhu Mohta sought to convert their holiday home into a boutique villa that combined the allure of Goa’s coastal charm with the modern amenities of their Mumbai residence. Rahul and his mother took a hands-on approach, leveraging their intimate knowledge of the house to actively participate in the decision-making process. The addition of five spacious ensuite bedrooms, all featuring 4K smart TVs and high-quality Foam Home Ergo Shell mattresses, ensures a comfortable retreat for every guest. Recognising the importance of staying connected, each room is equipped with LAN cable options and Wi-Fi routers connected to a highspeed fibre network, alongside backup power systems to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.

Beyond the pandemic, managing architectural changes, coordinating contractors, and sourcing materials required meticulous planning and patience.
