Mrs Brown's culture tips
Read.
Games are very popular in England. Children like to play them at birthday parties.
1F
The Chocolate Game ● Sit in a circle and roll the dice one by one. When you get a ‘six’, shout 'SIX' and give the dice to the child next to you. Put on a hat, sunglasses and gloves very quickly. Cut the chocolate with a knife and a fork and eat it. When your friend rolls a ‘six’, then you stop. Take off the hat, sunglasses and gloves and give them over to your friend. Carry on until there is no more chocolate!
om
o
Pin the Tail on the Donkey ● Draw a donkey. Separate the donkey’s tail from its body. Put Blu Tack at the end of the tail. Hang the body on a wall. Blindfold the person, spin him or her three times and ask him or her to place the tail on the donkey in the correct place. The person with the donkey’s tail closest to the correct position is the winner.

We are doing a geography project. This is a map of the United Kingdom of Great Britain. The girls are marking the capital city – London and other cities – Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, Cardiff, the capital of Wales and Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. They are also marking the longest rivers: the Trent, the Thames and the Severn. The boys are marking the three highest mountains in England: Helvellyn, Scafell and Scafell Pike. Jimmy is drawing some of the biggest lakes in the UK: Windermere in England and Loch Ness in Scotland which is famous for its monster. It’s great fun to do projects together and learn more about our country.

I really like going to Day Camp. I always meet new friends there. We play interesting games and have a lot of fun. I like fencing, archery, cycling, but my favourite sport is zorbing. I love rolling down the hills in a big ball. Pete likes slip and slide and jumping on a trampoline.

Today we are talking about our planet Earth. Our planet is a beautiful place. But sometimes humans don’t take care of it. We children can do something about it. Let’s see what children in my class reduce, reuse, recycle and replant to help save it.

CELEBRATIONS HALLOWEEN 1
Track 55
Listen and read.
Halloween is on the 31st of October. People make lanterns out of pumpkins. They put jack-o'-lanterns outside their houses. They also tell scary stories, watch horror films, light bonfires and play tricks to scare each other. At night children dress up in scary costumes such as ghosts, witches, skeletons or vampires. They also like costumes of superheroes or cartoon characters. Then they knock on people’s doors and sing:

St Valentine’s Day is on the 14th of February every year. On that day people celebrate love. They send cards with romantic messages. They usually don’t sign the cards. Many people buy chocolates or red roses for their sweethearts. Decorations for Valentine's Day are in red and pink colours and include hearts and Cupid with his arrow. Cupid is a popular symbol of the holiday. In mythology, when his arrow strikes someone’s heart, he or she falls in love. Tell everyone how much you love them on this day! Happy Valentine’s Day!
