The film will have stars like Candy Pangilinan, Benjie Paras, Marical Soriano, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, Cristine Reyes, and Antoinette Taus.

Masaya. Thank you, Lord, for sharing me his life everyday.” Nagpakilig naman si Daniel sa kanyang sagot na mas masaya na naka-trabaho na niya si Erich.

“Sobrang na in love ako sa kanya dahil sa lahat malambing, she’s close to my family, mabait and everything.” Naikuwento rin ni Daniel na sinisimulan ng gawin ang bahay niya na para sa kanyang nanay at pamilya at sa kanyang future na asawa. “I’m working on it. I’m really working for my future in the Philippines. I’ve said to everyone na this is where I’ll stay with my family kaya I’m working double time sa lahat.” Kababalik lang ng dalawa mula sa pagbabakasyon sa Bali, Indonesia. First time makarating sa lugar ni Erich at dito nagpapasalamat siya na si Daniel ang kanyang kasama at inspirasyon. Si Daniel naman, halatang inspired at vocal na nakita na niya ang ideal girl kay Erich.

Daniel Matsunaga stars in the soap Be My Lady which premieres on January 18. The Brapanese model talked about his first lead role as Phil. “He comes from a broken family. We grew up in Singapore. Nag-separate parents niya tapos namatay yung dad. Eventually nanay Marcie which is Janice de Belen goes to work for my mom na si Priscilla Meirelles and then that’s how the story goes. The story is all about love, about family. I’m sure a lot of people especially mga OFWs can relate with this story kasi talagang it’s very light, very happy. Si Phil comes to the Philippines dahil sa wedding ni Terrence (his character’s best friend) and dun niya makikilala si Pinang (played by Erich Gonzales). He starts falling in love with the country, the people and everything. Maraming mangyayari so maganda yung story kaya abangan niyo,” he shared. Daniel admitted that he couldn’t be any happier at the first month of the year. “Pinakamalaking blessing na binigay ng ABS-CBN sa akin after PBB (Pinoy Big Brother) ito yung unang soap na leading man ako. And siyempre I’m very thankful to direk Ruel Bayani for giving me the opportunity. Siyempre mas blessed pa kasi kasama ang girlfriend ko di ba? And siyempre it’s very special kasi at least we get to spend a lot of time together and I get to learn a lot from all of them so sobrang masaya ako to be given the opportunity,” he said.

The 27-year-old actor-model admitted he feels the pressure after being entrusted with a lead role. “Ito ang first project ko after PBB so may pressure konti di ba? Siyempre yung role ko is foreigner din pero at the same time parang rebelde siya nung bata siya so iba siya kaysa sa totoong character ko. I’m trying to do my best pero yung pressure nga na you have to do your best to try to achieve your goals. Madami rin akong objectives in life and ito yung isa. To push myself, i-pressure yung sarili ko na maging successful sa show para maging masaya yung mga directors namin,” he added. As for his real-life relationship with Be My Lady co-star Erich Gonzales, Daniel revealed when they started going out. “First time na nakilala ko si Erich was in Kris TV di ba. Tapos nagkaroon kami ng chance to do a show kasi marami kaming episodes sa Kris TV pero yung I think we started developing a better friendship was after Two Wives. I got to know her better at siguro God really has his perfect timing. Naghintay ako ng three years and dumating si Erich so it’s such a blessing. When you look for a relationship let it come at the right time. There is always the right person sa buhay niyo. I guess you get to know each other better through time di ba? I fell in love with Erich not just because of her beauty but also because of the whole package. Malaking bagay para sa akin kung malapit siya sa pamilya ko so yun. Mabait siya, malambing, lahat nasa kanya,” he said. In fact, Daniel admitted that he and Erich have already discussed marriage. “Siyempre marami kaming dates di ba? Sa iba ibang places. Siyempre despite sa busy schedule namin siyempre we speak about it, kailangan eh. Kasi if you really love somebody and you really want to be with her. Siyempre may plan ako sa kanya. Pero siguro for now kailangan namin mag-focus sa Be My Lady at sa work namin. Pero siyempre mahal ko siya and God really has his timing. You’ll be surprised (laughs),” he shared. When asked if it was true he was building a house for her, Daniel said his parents comes first. “I’m building a home first for my family but my future is with her so what is mine is going to be hers so if we’re together we’re together.” After coming back from their vacation in Bali, Indonesia, Daniel said he was surprised by all the positive comments he and Erich received on their social media accounts. “Well salamat kung maganda yung mga comments nila pero siyempre yung pictures na yan galing sa birthday ko. Sobrang maganda yung lugar, nag-enjoy kami. Super short yung holiday. Yung mga comments na yan thank you. Sana in the future the same pa rin yung mga comments nila,” he said.

STRENGTH AND DETERMINATION ven before she was crowned Binibining Pilipinas-Universe, Pia Wurtzbach has already know how it means to be in the limelight. Starting out as a Star Magic talent when she was just four years old, the Fil-German beauty went by the stage name “Pia Romero.” When she became the family breadwinner after her parents’ separation, Pia’s sense of responsibility was instilled in her at a very young age. She proved she was a hard worker with her experience as a waitress in Marriott HOTEL for three years. Afterwards she took up culinary arts at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies and she trained as a chef at the noted Theobald Park restaurant in England in 2009. Throughout these experiences, the 26-year-old beauty queen admitted she has had to overcome being bullied and eventually proved herself worthy to her peers and superiors at work. In a previous interview with PUSH earlier this year, Pia said she has never been the type to bow down to pressure, in whatever form it comes. "I continue to defend myself in situations where I feel like I need to stand up or myself. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Like if I'm going to talk to the youth and talk about empowering them and standing up for themselves and standing up for being bullied then I'm the perfect example of that because that's what I do. I don't just sit down and take whatever is thrown at me. When I know I'm in the right and I know that things are out of line, I speak up about it. And maybe that's why I spark more bashers but the thing is, that's the way it is,” she said.

Her stint in showbiz included being seen in the small screen on Kapamilya shows like ASAP, Your Song, Bora, K2BU and the teleserye Sa Piling Mo. Pia also appeared in the movies All About Love, All My Life, and Kung Ako Na Lang Sana. When she finally decided to join Binibining Pilipinas pageant in 2013, Pia knew she was going to be under intense scrutiny as one of the more recognizable candidates because she was also a celebrity. But even though she had failed to bring home the title the first two times she joined the pageant, the 26-year-old emerged triumphant on her final try when she took home the top title. She has stated in previous interviews that she hopes these experiences can inspire other people to continue striving hard for their goals despite rejection and other hardships. This coming December 21, she finally fulfills her dream to represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Miss Universe hopeful flew to the United States earlier this month to start preparing for the pageant along with other candidates from all over the world.

Miss Universe PIa Wurtzbach’s mom, Cheryl Alonzo-Tyndall said watching the pageant online was like a ‘roller coaster’ ride. “Natuwa ako noong nasa ulo na niya yun crown pero before that mixed emotions, my god it was like a roller coaster,” she remarked. Cheryl, who is based in the UK with Pia’s sister, also shared she almost shut down her laptop when Mis Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez was announced the winner. “Papatayin ko na sana yun ipad, yun laptop ko. Pero for some reason hinayaan ko lang umandar. Tapos maya-maya sabi nun host, ‘I would like to apologize.’ Nanood ako kasi palagay ko si Pia to, si Pia talaga ang nanalo kasi ang galing niya,” she said. Cheryl is also thankful she was just at home watching her daughter compete in Las Vegas. “Maha-highblood talaga ako. Buti na lang andito lang ako sa bahay at kung mahimatay ako nasa bed ako. Ayoko nga siyang payagan. Noong second time na sumali siya kasi nakikita ko nahihirapan siya. Sa pagda-diet, sa gym, kasi natalo siya the first time,” she added. Cheryl understands that she won’t be celebrating Christmas with Pia because of her duties as Miss Universe and just left her a message.

MISS UNIVERSE 2015 PIA WURTZBACH REACTS ON HER CONTROVERSIAL WIN Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach finally spoke about her controversial win in the beauty pageant held in Las Vegas, USA that aired live on Philippine TV this Monday morning, December 21. According to an ABS-CBN News report, Pia, although happy for her victory, was sad for Miss Colombia Adriadna Gutierrez, who was mistakenly announced the Miss Universe 2015 by pageant host Steve Harvey. In a press conference after the coronation night, Pia said that she will give Miss Colombia, “A bit of time and see how she is doing.” Moreover, she said, “I’m sorry for what happened. Even I did not expect it. Like her, I also want to win,” adding that she did not take the crown from Miss Colombia whom she expressed her well wishes to. Steve, in a recent radio interview, revealed that he has tried to reach out to Miss Colombia since the December 20 pageant but received no reply. Pia, for her part, in an interview at the US Weekly last January 6, claimed that she would probably respond to Steve if she were in Ariadna’s shoes. “Yes, I would respond to him because I think it takes a lot for him to admit he made a mistake, especially like that, it was on live television,” she said. Pia also added, “For him to consistently reach out to her, I think it’s a very admirable move from him.” But then, Pia stressed that it’s only her opinion. “Well that’s me. But I would really know unless... maybe she’s still in the process of understanding what’s going on, and I respect that. That’s okay. But I think she will [reach out] eventually,” said Pia. Meanwhile, Pia also took time to address the nonstop bashers on social media who remain unhappy with the result of the Miss Universe 2015. “A lot of people were happy, especially the Filipinos. MISS USA SHARES HER THOUGHTS ON MISS UNIVERSE CONTROVERSY

After the controversial win of Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach yesterday, December 21 (Manila Time) where host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as Miss Universe, 2nd runner up Miss USA Olivia Jordan took to Instagram to voice her opinion regarding the incident. She first stated that it was an honor for her to be on the stage with Pia and Ariadna but she also felt bad for what happened. Olivia also said that both of deserve the crown. “Both women were worthy of the crown. I’m honored I got to stand beside them and devastated for each of them – [Wurtzbach] that her moment was tainted by controversy and most of all for [Gutierrez for] having her dream ripped away from her in an instant, I know both women have an incredible year ahead of them where they will embrace every opportunity that comes out of this.” Olivia also lauded Steve’s action during the pageant. “And I want to send some love to [Harvey] in a sea of hate. He made an honest mistake that he has owned up to and apologized for. We are all perfectly imperfect as humans and mistakes happen. MISS UNIVERSE HOST STEVE HARVEY APOLOGIZES FOR ‘HUMAN MISTAKE’ ON MISS UNIVERSE 2015 Miss Universe 2015 host Steve Harvey swiftly took responsibility over mistakenly naming Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the Miss Universe 2015 winner when it should have been Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. Moments after Ariadna was given the crown, the sash and that “Miss Universe moment,” Steve went back onstage and clarified his mistake. “Okay folks I have to apologize. The first runner-up is Colombia. Miss Universe 2015 is Philippines,” he said during the live coronation night held at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. He continued by showing the official elimination card for the camera and the audience to see. “Listen folks let me just take control of this. This is exactly what’s on the card. I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake. It was on the card. Horrible mistake but the right thing I can show it to you right here. The first runner-up is Colombia. It is my mistake. Still a great night. Please don’t hold it against the ladies. Please don’t. We feel so badly but it’s still a great night,” he said. Steve also took to his Twitter account to apologize to the fans of the show and both ladies. However, he unfortunately misspelled the countries that the ladies were representing which made him delete his post. He eventually posted a new set of tweets and emphasized that it was an “honest mistake” on his part. Amid the public’s fury over the mistake, several local personalities accepted his apology and asked the other to move on from the issue.

JOHN LLOYD CRUZ BREAKS SILENCE ON THE DISQUALIFICATION OF ‘HONOR THY FATHER’ John Lloyd Cruz broke his silence on the disqualification of his film Honor Thy Father from the Best Picture category in the recent Metro Manila Film Festival at a congressional hearing. “Nandito ako ngayon dahil mahal ko ang pelikulang Pilipino.” Before the start of the hearing, a press conference was held at the Batasang Pambansa wherein the actor first shared that if he won the Best Actor award, he would have not received it as it would not have been based on a film included in the festival. Also, the actor shared that he is to face the House of Representatives because he wants to stand up for his creative rights as an actor and a producer of the film. He also stated that he was not after the Best Actor award because a bigger and more important issue has to be tackled: the current state of our local film industry. The actor stated that the loss of the Philippine Film Industry is greater as there is no equal opportunity given to other types of films. “Dalawang bagay po ang puwede pang mangyari ngayon: magkawatak-watak ang industriya at magkasiraan na nang tuluyan, o maging daan po ito para makita natin na pagnagkaisa tayong lahat, mababago at mapapalakas natin ang industriya ng Pelikulang Pilipino.” John Lloyd was not able to finish the hearing as he needed to leave for the press conference of his film Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis by director Love Diaz, which will be part of the Berlin International Film Festival. S PIOLO PASCUAL AND JOHN LLOYD CRUZ PLAY CHARACTER FROM JOSE RIZAL’S ‘NOLI ME TANGERE’ IN NEW MOVIE As part of the new Lav Diaz film Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis (A Lullaby for the Sorrowful Mystery) which will compete in the main section of the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival 2016 (more famously known as “Berlinale”), Piolo Pascual admitted he is excited to fly to Germany next month especially since Hollywood actress Meryl Streep is the president of the festival jury. “It’s something that we wouldn’t want to miss. Definitely. I get star struck pero okay naman yun. I was in New York for the i-Emmys and si tita Charo (Santos) was the head jury. You get to meet different people and it’s my first Berlinale so wow, to get the chance to have a selfie with Meryll Streep, ‘di ba? (Going there) I don’t expect anything. More than anything it’s really representing the Philippine cinema so to be given this kind of prestige. To be on board a project that you can say is a passion project for all of us and I haven’t seen the film pero sabi ko nga to do something with direk Lav (Diaz) it’s already an opportunity for me and my career na hindi ako puwedeng matapos sa trabaho ko na hindi ko makakatrabaho si direk Lav. Actually pinatanda ako dito, si Lloydy pinabata kasi he was the one being shown yung this is the Spanish times so yung sa kanya ako kumbaga, during my last days, siya yung nakasama ko, sa kanya ako nagsabi and we recited Mi Ultimo Adios together. So sobra yung immersion namin sa characters namin. Babasahin mo yung ibibigay sa iyo na script and bahala ka how you’re going to understand it so more than being a showcase it’s what you can give, it’s what you can put in as an actor. Yung material na ibibigay sa iyo be it English or Spanish or Chinese or whatever, kailangan alam mo yung character mo. Kailangan alam mo yung pelikulang ginagawa mo kaya it was an opportunity for both of us,” he recalled. Brushing up on Jose Rizal’s most famous book was one of the ways Piolo prepared for the major project. “I had to re-read Noli Me Tangere. I had browse through El Fili and the last time I read it I was in high school and it’s a role that I’ve always wanted to play. Doing Crisostomo Ibarra was such an experience because it’s Jose Rizal ‘di ba? For me panalo ito. And good thing it was in a remote place so we were given a chance to actually immerse and at the same time feel yung setting. Kaya of course working with Lloydy was an added bonus kaya it was an experience for me masasabi ko coming from being in a mainstream industry, to do something different and in black and white, parang sabi ko, ‘Hindi puwedeng hindi ko gawin ito,’” he admitted.

In an exclusive interview with Boy Abunda, film and TV director Cathy Garcia-Molina finally spoke up about the open letter Rossellyn Domingo and Alvin Campomanes posted on social media regarding their experience on the set of the teleserye Forevermore. Meanwhile, “Forevermore’s” business unit head Des Tanwangco also released an official statement. It states: ABS-CBN acknowledged and responded immediately to Mr. Alvin Campomanes when he wrote to us in October 2014, and directly coordinated with MTQ Promotions and Talent Management, the agency that engaged his services for the project, regarding the complaint. MTQ owner Mary Ann Trumata-Rejano then met with Mr. Campomanes and Ms. Rossellyn Domingo two days after he e-mailed us. Subsequently, we and Ms. Rejano agreed to arrange a meeting between Mr. Campomanes and director Cathy Garcia-Molina. Ms. Rejano told us that there was no need for a meeting as she had already talked to Mr. Campomanes and Ms. Domingo and had settled the issue with them, so we did not inform Direk Cathy of the complaint and the supposed meeting. Believing that the issue had been settled, Ms. Rejano kept in touch with Ms. Domingo, who even inquired about other “rackets” from December 2014 until January 2015 without bringing up Mr. Campomanes’ complaint. We also did not get any follow-ups, contrary to Ms. Domingo’s claims. When Ms Domingo posted an open letter on her Facebook last 30 December 2015, we were surprised to learn that the issue had not been resolved, contrary to what Ms. Rejano told us. We wish to point out that there was misrepresentation on the part of the talent agency when they failed to disclose to the production team that Mr. Campomanes was not a professional actor as we had required. At present, we are in communication with Mr Campomanes and both parties have agreed to meet to resolve the matter.”

DEVON SERON ON JAMES REID’S SUCCESS: ‘MAYBE SI NADINE TALAGA YUNG PERFECT MATCH NIYA’ Coming from the box office success of the horror movie Haunted Mansion, Devon Seron admitted that she and the rest of the cast had no idea they would be the third biggest earner in the 2015 Metro Manila Film Fest. “Sobrang saya. Nung nalaman namin nung first day pa lang na nasa top three na siya sobrang na-shock kami kasi kami lang yung teens sa whole cast. Director Joyce Bernal unabashedly admitted that the major reason why she accepted helming Everything About Her was due to the fact that she will have the chance of working with Vilma Santos. The upcoming film revolves around the humbling of three proud characters played by CEO Vilma, her son and architect Xian Lim, and the nurse played by Angel Locsin. Direk Joyce described the three characters as: “Si Ate Vi impakta, si Angel epal [at] si Xian impakto.” According to her, the Star for All Seasons never hesitated in doing any scene for their film, even if it meant spewing some expletives. “Wala, never. [Sabi niya] ‘Sasabihin ko ba talaga ito Direk, p****g ina?’ Oo sabihin niyo po [sabi ko],” she related. “Puwede bang hindi ko sabihin dito at doon ko sasabihin sa ganitong eksena kung saan mas galit siya?’ Sabi ko hindi, mas-okay na dito kung ‘yung wala lang.” If anything, Vilma, she said, has been very obedient to a fault. DIRECTOR ERIK MATTI REACTS ABOUT LIZA SOBERANO, NADINE LUSTRE, AND JESSY MENDIOLA AS DARNA Erik Matti, who will be directing the remake of Darna under Star Cinema, said in an interview with DZMM on January 16 that management is still looking for a replacement for Angel Locsin as the Philippine heroine. Angel had to back out of the project due to her health. Director Erik said that he suggested that management hol d auditions for the role since it would require intensive physical preparations. “Gusto ko makita kung kakayanin ng artista. Kasi ang hirap na ngayon mag-double. Dati, mga five years ago, puwede pa mag-double sa eksena. Pero ngayon mahirap na with all the Hollywood films that come out where all the actors really prepare for the role. As part of the new daytime soap Be My Lady playing Daniel Matsunaga’s single mom, Priscilla Meirelles talked about her scenes with her husband’s real-life ex-wife Janice de Belen. “(in the show) Pumunta ako sa Singapore para sa work requirements ko and I happen to be a very strict parent. I hire a nanny that happens to be from the Philippines which is the character of Ms. Janice de Belen to take care of my son. Sobra akong na-bless to be able to work with an actress of that kind of caliber and sa pinaka-first na soap opera ko. I’m so thankful to the Lord, to ABS-CBN and to the whole cast of Be My Lady to trust me with that kind of job because ang tapang nila to pair me with Ms. Janice and I don’t think that I could be happier because Ms. Janice de Belen is very professional,” she admitted. For the show’s initial scenes, Priscilla said she and Janice had to do most of their scenes together. This was a learning experience for the Brazilian beauty. “Actually sa buong first week kami talagang magkasama palagi. While we were doing the scenes I was observing her because this was an on-the-spot workshop so I was very happy, I was very amazed with the way she acts and the way she does her job and her lines. The very first time that we met on the set she was very courteous and then she was a bliss to watch because she was very good. I don’t think she would have that kind of title if she’s not that talented,” she recalled. In the series, Erich Gonzales and Daniel Matsunaga are an interracial couple who come from very different backgrounds. Priscilla admitted this topic is very close to her heart. “From my experience I know that interracial relationship is not easy at all because you have to realize that you grew up from totally different cultures most of the time but at the end of the day it’s still about what you believe in and what is worth fighting for. My advice for them (in real life) is siguro one day at a time. Masarap yung life if you live one day at a time. Of course mabuti kung meron kang plano sa buhay mo and sana iba yung plano mo sa plano ng iba. They’re very young, they’re very smart, they’re very talented. One day at a time na lang. And enjoy enjoy lang,” she added. The ABS-CBN soap is also the first time Priscilla will be using Estrada instead of Meirelles for the credits. During the Be My Lady presscon held last January 11, the former beauty queen explained her decision. “Why am I using it? Because married na po ako (laughs). Originally Meirelles yung ginamit na pinili nila pero they asked me kung paano ba talaga i-pronounce yung last name ko. Sabi ko, ‘Estrada na lang para mas madali.’ Pero sa totoo, I’m married and I believe in the eyes of Lord I should always honor my husband. So yung surname niya is Estrada so one of the reasons why I stayed in the country is because I’m married. So of course I need to honor the surname that I carried and that’s the surname that my daughter carries. I think that’s a why of dignifying him, honoring him and showing also that I’m proud to be able to earn that so why not? But in general I think it’s just that it’s easier to pronounce yung talagang totoong name ko na yun ng buong buhay. I don’t plan to change that. I don’t think masama din. This is a soap opera that is about family and about love. I consider myself to be a part of it not just because I’m part of the cast but because I did experience the interracial relationship and I’m proud of that. Because I’m proud to be married to a Pinoy. This is the country that embraced me, that loved me and that brings a smile to my heart so why not honor that and be proud to say that I’m an Estrada,” she explained.

O R E N O Veteran TV host and actor German “Kuya Germs” Moreno passed away early morning on Friday due to cardiac arrest. He was 82. According to his nephew John Nite, Kuya Germs died at around 3:20AM in a hospital in Quezon City. He was already rushed to the hospital Thursday evening. "He passed on in the company of his family and friends. He lived a full life, touched so many hearts through the years, and helped make dreams come true for most of the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry," he said. "We are deeply saddened by his passing but we are comforted by the thought that his legacy will live on," he added. In January 2015, the TV host suffered a mild stroke due to fatigue. However he is able to resume working on his talk show “Walang Tulugan with Master Showman” by June. He was last seen publicly when he inducted a new set of stars into the Eastwood Walk of Fame last December 1.

The passing of Master Showman German Moreno on Friday morning, January 8, has left the showbiz industry reeling from the sudden loss of one of its revered pillars. The 82-year-old mentor and host left behind an important legacy in an industry where he spent more than half of his life. More than the stars he discovered and the shows he hosted, Kuya Germs, as he was fondly called in the business, lived a life that showed significant lessons that the public and the personalities could take away.

Stay passionate

From being a “telonero” or curtain raiser back in the 50s, Kuya Germs has devoted almost 53 years of his life into the business that he loves. In fact, despite having a sensitive condition of late, Kuya Germs made sure to remain active by being part of several events like the recently-concluded PMPC Star Awards event or as a consultant for GMA’s Sunday variety show Sunday Pinasaya.

Always give a helping hand

When news of his departure made rounds, a good number of celebrities recalled how they the Master Showman has paved the way for them to reach their dreams and to be where they are today in the business. Majority of those who recalled about his generous and kind heart are the members of the 80s teen-oriented show That’s Entertainment.

Be and remain grateful

In doing favors without asking for anything in return, Kuya Germs had subconsciously ingrained gratefulness into the hearts of the people he left behind. From actors, actresses, hosts, singers to dancers, a lot of celebrities thanked him for being there for them and for simply being an inspiration that perseverance and utter love for the local entertainment industry.

Kuya Germs is one of the few people in the business who could easily cross networks. In fact, the showbiz icon appeared in two ABS-CBN shows. First on the second anniversary of It’s Showtime where he performed with That’s Entertainment member Billy Crawford and the last one was in 2014 when he celebrated his birthday on Gandang Gabi Vice.

Apart from being a talent manager, Kuya Germs also spearheaded the creation of the Eastwood Walk of Fame which is patterned after the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame wherein celebrities get to have their own “stars” to recognize their contribution in the business.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News and other reporters last Saturday when he visited the remains of the TV host, he shared that he was shocked when he learned of his mentor’s death. “Hindi ko lang talaga alam kung anong sasabihin ko. Nung tinawagan ko si Kuya Freddie, nasa hospital sila. Pagtawag ko sa kanya, bigla na lang sabi niya sa akin, ‘Bro, magpapaalam na si Papa. Kausapin mo.’ So utal-utal ‘yung utak ko. Hindi ko alam kung anong sasabihin ko. Kinakausap ko siya tapos obviously wala namang response. Nung naputol kami, doon nag-register kung ano ‘yung nangyayari,” he shared. “There’s always a time na pag-iisipan mo na sana nasabi ko ito or sana nakita ko siya before he passed away. Ganoon talaga. It came as a shock to everyone,” he added. Billy, who was part of Kuya Germs’ hit 1980s show That’s Entetainment, owes a big part of his showbiz career to him. He also recalled Kuya Germs’ dismay during his transfer to ABS-CBN last 2008 but they have since reconciled. “Hindi naman mawawala ‘yun sa pamilya. Si Papa ay laging nandiyan to scold you. Si Kuya Germs kasi isa sa pinaka-professional at pinaka-loyal ‘yan. It really hurt him for a while na nagkahiwalay kami ng landas. Despite the increase in number of newer and younger stars, Jericho Rosales remained secure about his position in the industry. The actor, who stars in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Walang Forever opposite Jennylyn Mercado, explained why he acts and feels that way. "Hindi naman ako deadma [sa issues]. I still care sa actions ko and sa lahat. But kunyari sa presscons, I've known you guys for so long. Parang umabot nako sa stage na relax lang ako," he explained. Jericho stressed that he respects his job and the people that he works with in the business. But more than anything else, he pointed out that, "I know my worth bilang contributor sa industry natin and alam ko na I belong here." The 36-year-old actor explained that he tends to brush off the existence of a "growing competition" in the industry only because it's not really something that could help become a better actor. "Hindi kasi makakadagdag sa mga araw ko 'yan eh, parang ganon. So I just focus kung saan ako magaling at kung saan may opportunity ako. Halimbawa, ganyan bagong project katulad nito na rom-com go lang ako, na kahit na feeling ko naiilang ako. Go lang, para I still learn. Open lang ako," said Jericho. Jericho also recently won as Best Actor at the MMFF. Meanwhile, more than a year after tying the knot with model-host Kim Jones, Jericho remains consistent in saying that they still have no plans of having a baby anytime soon. "Kasi gusto pa namin mag-travel together. Then, ako may mga ganyan [movie]. Mahirap na kapag may karga-karga ka na eh," he said, adding that his 28-yearold wife Kim Jones is still quite young. Jericho happily shared that he has already adjusted well to the married life. Maria in the hit soap Pangako Sa ‘Yo, Ian Veneracion admitted he was surprised because he had once played the role of Jodi’s father in a previous project. “Actually meron kaming show ni Jodi dati na anak ko siya nun (in the 2003 ABS-CBN series Darating ang Umaga). Totoo. Kaya for Pangako Sa ‘Yo niloloko tuloy niya ako, ‘Grabe, anak mo ako dati ngayon love team na tayo.’ Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Huwag ka mag-alala, sa next show natin nanay na kita.’ (laughs) So aabot tayo dun,” he said. Even with their previous roles, Ian said he never felt any awkwardness with Jodi when they started shooting their romantic scenes in PSY. “No. Nung nag-start na kami sa taping wala na kasi we’re really comfortable with each other and sa workshop pa lang, magkaibigan kasi kami ni Jodi and we’ve known each other for a long time. As he turns one year older next month, Ian said he is reflecting on how to spend his 2016. “This year mag-fo-41 na ako. Yan ang nasa isip ko. February. Hindi ko alam. Pero I have to do something different every six to eight months. Katulad yung isang show isang season pa lang yun. After that iniisip mo na yung gagawin ko in the next six months, painting or puwedeng flying or kung ano man pero parang kailangan ko ng ganun every six to eight months na may bagong ginagawa,” he said. But Ian said it will be a while before he joins an art exhibit again. “Kailangan akong magalot ng six to eight months to mount an exhibit eh. Eh kaya lang this is my day job as an actor to do shows and movies. Wala akong ganung kahabang oras. Like my last exhibit nung November last year, I had to allot that time talaga. INGREDIENTS • 2 to 2½ lbs. whole pork belly • 1 medium red onion • 1 tablespoon whole black

peppercorn • 1½ tablespoons salt • 6 cloves crushed garlic • 4 to 6 cups water • 3 cups cooking oil

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Arrange the pork belly in a wide and deep cooking pot. Pour-in the water. Make sure that the pork belly is fully submerged in water. Let boil. 2. Once the water starts to boil, add the garlic, onion, 1 tablespoon salt, and whole black peppercorn. Simmer for 30 to 40 minutes. 3. Remove the boiled pork belly from the cooking pot and place in a plate. Let it cool to room temperature. 4. Rub the remaining ½ tablespoon of salt all over the boiled pork belly. Let is stay for 10 to 20 minutes. 5. Heat the cooking oil in a deep cooking pot. When the oil gets hot, gently put-in the pork belly and deep-fry in medium heat until the pork belly turns golden brown and the texture gets crispy. The oil will splatter during this process, so be careful. Make sure that you do not cover the cooking pot completely while deep frying. You can put a splatter guard on top of the cooking pot to control the oil. 6. Once the pork belly is golden brown and crispy, remove it from the cooking pot and arrange in a plate lined with paper towel. Turn the stove off and let the pork belly cool down to room temperature. 7. When the pork belly cools down, heat-up the oil on more time. Deep fry the same pork belly for the second time in medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes or until it gets extra crispy. 8. Remove from the cooking pot and place in a plate lined with paper towel. Let the towel absorb the excess oil. 9. Slice the pork bagnet into serving pieces and serve with bagoong monamon (also known as bugguong munamon) or even guinamos or bagoong Balayan. Note: you can squeeze lemon or calamansi on the bagoong to make it taste better. Share and enjoy!
