A
fter the successful run of their musicals Maxie the Musical: Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros and Rak of Aegis, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) opens this year with another original project 3 Stars and a Sun which stars Bodjie Pascua, Nicco Manalo, Paolo Valenciano, Giannina Ocampo, Che Ramos-Cosio, and Nar Cabico. Last January 30, members of the media were invited to a special preview before the musical’s regular run starting February 4.
The play is set in 2096, in a dystopian Philippines where the country is no more and instead is replaced with people who live in The Stormdome which is divided into two main sectors: the affluent ruling class who live in the Lumino and the rest of society who must rummage for food live in Diliman. PETA’s impressively simple yet effective set design accomplishes its mission of portraying dystopia while at the same time keeping the stage free for the actors to move around as they perform an array of Francis Magalona songs which were either sung outright or reinterpreted as dialogue or translated into Tagalog (which was the case for the Master Rapper’s hit “Cold Summer Nights”). In the Stormdome, Diliman’s resident rebel group called the Tropang Gising (an obvious nod to the Francis M song “Mga Praning”) is led by Sol (Nicco Manalo) and his gang who are planning to overthrow Lumina leader Grand Vidame Inky (Che Ramos-Cosio) and her children Chino and Diane (played by Paolo Valenciano and Giannina Ocampo). When the Chino and Diane venture into Diliman and encounter the Tropang Gising, a culture clash ensues. When the group comes runs into a wandering old man named Mang Okik (Bodjie Pascua), he opens their eyes to days when heroes and having a national history was still relevant. Those expecting outright rap battles in this ambitiously eye-opening musical might be disappointed as playwrights Rody Vera and

In her FACEBOOK status on, February 5, Isabelle simply wrote: “I said yes.” She also shared a separate Instagram post, showing a photo of her and Adrien taken at Amanjena resort at Marrakech, Morroco. But in recent interviews, Isabelle had been evasive about whether or not Adrien had proposed already. “Well, I’m forcing him to get engaged na, I keep telling him. “Hopefully, this year it will happen,” NOT LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. The 27-year-old actress revealed that she actually turned down Adrien seven times before they officially started dating in the past. city.” They had a nice hotel in Cappadocia and rode in a hot air balloon but Adrien’s plan was not to propose in the balloon ride but rather have it after their breakfast. The actress had no idea that her family already knew about Adrien’s plans of proposing. Gloria Diaz, Isabelle’s mom, told Adrien she wasn’t ready but gave their blessing anyway. Isabelle recalled that during their breakfast around 9 in the morning, she still had no clue but noticed that Adrien couldn’t eat and he was asking Isabelle if she’s already done eating. After eating they were talking about life and also talked about their future when Adrien went stuttering and asked, “W-would you like to marry me?” “Sabi ko ‘Yeah of course in the future’ and then he said, ‘No, no. Now? I have a ring.’ And then he pulled out a ring and he knelt down on one knee and that’s when I knew it was real I was like ‘Oh my gosh’ tapos ‘yung heart ko sobrang like fast, it was beating so fast.” Adrien had a simple speech and Isabelle said she’d remember it forever. “He said, ‘From the moment I saw you, I knew I could love you’ and then he said like, ‘You fit me perfectly, like the way you love me fits me perfectly.’ Sobrang cry kasi na touch ako parang when he said na ‘you fit me perfectly’ you don’t have to be perfect ‘di ba? uring Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna’s exchange of vows at their wedding reception at the Filinvest Tent, Alabang, Muntinlupa last January 30, Vic told her, “From this day forward, you will be my number two in my life.” In an article published by Pep.ph, Vic shared why Pauleen is ‘number two’ and he also revealed that she used to be in 6th place. “Number one, of course God. Wedding videographer Jason Magbanua has uploaded on his Youtube channel Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna’s wedding video last January 31. The couple’s wedding last January 30 at the St. James the Great Parish in Alabang, was well attended by their family and close friends in the showbiz industry. Notable in the video is Vic and Pauleen becoming emotional during the homily and their exchange of vows.

Mas importante ka sa golf, siyempre,’” Vic shared. “So, from number 5, number 2 na siya ngayon sa buhay ko. Which means that I love you and I will take care of you, and I wanna thank you, you and your family,” he added. Vic then thanked his children for understanding him and also apologized if their status in his priorities changed. “Sabi ko nga sa aking mga anak, ‘Pasensiya na.’ Pero ako’y buong-pusong nagpapasalamat sa inyo. I always say na it was not that easy for all of us na tanggapin ang kung ano man. Pero in this instance, naramdaman ko kung gaano niyo ako nirerespeto. “I love you very much. Kahit na number 3 kayo, I will still love you that much. And to you, my asawa, my number 2, I love you forever,” he said. Vic also did not forget to thank Pauleen’s family for accepting him. “Thank you so much for accepting me sa inyong family. Thank you for the love, sa buong pamilya.” He also found it funny that he doesn’t know what to call Pauleen’s father yet. “Pare na lang, puwede ba?” he suggested. Vic also explained that he already calls Pauleen’s mother Chat ‘Mother Lu’ which is short for ‘Mother Luna’ but he can’t still think of what to call his wife’s dad. “Kung tawagin namin si Mommy Chat, Mother Lu, Mother Luna. Pero matagal na akong nagku-contemplate, ano kaya ang itawag ko kay Father Lu? E, para lang kaming magkumpare!” he funnily said. Vic also had a message for Pauleen’s brother Miguel Mario. “And to my brother-in-law, Miki. Huwag ka magalala, hindi naman mawawala si Pauleen sa inyo.”

Hindi na basta supporting role lang ang ginagampanan ng dating Goin’ Bulilit mainstay na si Kiray sa pelikulang Love Is Blind. Isa siya sa mga bida sa pelikula at ka-level niya sina Solenn Heussaff at Derek Ramsay. Kiray started her career in showbiz when she was just only three years old nang sumali siya sa Munting Miss U contest ng Magandang Tanghali Bayan. “Hindi ako nanalo non kasi ang mga kalaban ko ay 7, 10 years old. Pero tanggap ko naman yon, na talunan ako. Hahaha!” masayang pagre-recall ni Kiray. Derek Ramsay took to Instagram to call out his “Love is Blind” co-star Kiray Celis, who added an “odd” pillow in the middle of her Spongebob Squarepants collection at home. Kiray is an avid fan of the cartoon character that her bed is covered with Sponge Bob’s face, from the bed spread to her pillows. Derek wrote “Ikaw [Kiray] pati ako sinama mo ako sa collection mo” and his followers found the photo funny. In a recent interview, Kiray described her kissing scene with Derek in the movie as ‘torrid.’
Derek Ramsay stars in a new movie titled Love is Blind and according to the actor, the movie is far different from his previous films. “I think this has got to be the funniest and craziest film I’ve done. It’s not your regular Derek movie and I’m very proud of myself and I’m happy that I was able to be part of a film like this.” Derek is working alongside comedian Kiray Celis. When asked about their kissing scene in the film, Derek relayed, “Kayo mag-judge ha kasi di na ako nagsalita eh. Sabi niya kinain ko daw ‘yung labi niya, panoorin niyo na lang. Let’s have some feedback after the movie. That’s just Kiray, that’s her personality and imagine mo what we’ll go through on the set. Kiray Celis remarked that her role in her new movie “Love is Blind” is far different from the previous works she has done before. “Expect the unexpected [sa movie] dahil lahat ng hindi ko pa nagagawa with Derek nagawa namin dito sa movie na ‘to. Basta hindi ko rin in-expect na ganon ka grabe ang movie namin,” she said in an interview with Push.com.ph. Asked what she loved about the experience, Liza, who plays Serena said: “Yung pagkain. Sobrang sarap. Tapos, gusto ko talaga yung mga sites na buildings, the history behind it.” (The food. It was so good. And I also like the sites, buildings, the history behind it.) “I got to go to the Vatican and I got to pass through the Holy Door,” Liza added. 2. MATTEO AND ENRIQUE ARE BOTH FROM CEBU. MATTEO AND ENRIQUE ARE BOTH CEBUANOS. During the press conference, Enrique shared that his mom’s younger sibling and Matteo’s mom are good friends and also classmates. “Nagkikita lagi kami (We see each other often),“ Enrique said of Matteo. 3. DOLCE AMORE IS CHERIE GIL’S SECOND PROJECT WITH ENRIQUE. This is not the first time Cherie and Enrique worked together in a teleserye. The two were part of the show Muling Buksan Ang Puso, where they played mother and son. You can’t please everybody but you try your best. Yung sinasabi ko lang, basta maka-enjoy tayo siyempre the people will see that din. So pag nawala yung essence ng enjoyment wala na,” he said. In “Dolce Amore,” Quen plays the role of a hardworking man named Tenten Ibarra who crosses paths with a young Italian socialite played by Liza Soberano. Quen shared he and Liza are definitely closer than before which makes working together more enjoyable. “Oo naman. Sa tagal naming nag-bonding sa Baguio. I think it’s a bad thing kung hindi (nag-deepen) di ba? When you work with somebody, the more you work with somebody, it just gets deeper, the friendship and everything, the bonding. Imposibleng hindi,” he said. When asked if they will finally have a kissing scene in the soap, Quen replied Liza (who just turned 18 last month) is still too young. “Wala pa po. Bata pa yan. Wala pa po yan. Sweet love lang dito.
The love story is something very innocent, very real, light lang siya. Yung magaan lang,” he added. Playing a working class guy in the show also gave Quen a new perspective on his work as an actor. “I realized how easy we have it sometimes. Like when I was shooting dun sa construction site nakikita ko yung ibang construction working tinuturuan ako mag-welding. Sinabi ko, ‘Grabe, you just go around and see all these establishments and you take it for granted. You don’t know how hard these people work for that. And to be in it and do what they do, you have no reason to complain in what you’re doing compared to what they’re doing. So it just opens my mind. Iba. i don’t know. It shows you things that you didn’t know. It opens up your mind. It’s a humbling experience when you’re there,” he remarked. When asked about whether he followed up on his statement that he plans to court Liza when she turns 18, Quen divulged the soap is their top priority at the moment. “What’s our real score? It’s still the same. I would say it’s not like before. We developed some more. We’re in a place na we’re so happy. I’m happy. You don’t really have to label anything as long as you guys are happy. So happy kami muna.” For Valentine’s Day, the two will be together all day during the grand launch of the show on ASAP with a mall show in MArket! Market in the afternoon and a scheduled taping as well. But it seems the “Dolce Amore” actor also has a surprise in store for Liza. “Secret na lang, baka mabuking eh (laughs),” he said.

or Jodi Sta. Maria, being part of the Pangako Sa' yo serye has been an unforgettable journey. "Well I am very thankful that Pangako Sa 'yo happened. I just realized that time flies so fast. It's one great journey, it's a one good experience. I will never forget this," she said. Jodi admitted that playing the role of Amor Powers has not been easy. "Hindi madaling gawin si Amor Powers. I must say na isa 'to sa pinaka-challenging na roles na nagawa ko sa aking career. Ang dami niyang layers, ang daming nangyayari sa buhay niya, sa journey niya bilang tao, bilang ina. I must say nahirapan talaga ako, mahirap siya gawin pero fulfilling naman na nagagawa mo ng maayos ang isang eksena," she stated. Now that the series is down to its last few days, what is next for her? "Well after Pangako Sa 'yo is a break for me. I will be spending the summer with my son so 'yun muna. After non tingnan natin ang mga susunod na proyekto." She admitted that projects are being pitched to her already but there are no final details yet. "Yes meron ng mga projects na pinipitch pero hindi pa naman siya konkreto so ayon." Jodi shared that she will also be taking a trip to Israel with her friends this March. "In March, I am going to Israel with a group of friends so were going on a Holy Land tour so very excited ako don, bagong experience naman. I've been to Israel five years ago but this time I know it's going to be different, it's going to be life changing for me. [I am looking forward] to learning more about the land of Jesus, to be able to walk again don sa mga nilakaran niya, pinuntahan niya," she said.

DIEGO LOYZAGA SHARES HIS MOST UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS ON ‘PANGAKO SA ‘YO’ After almost nine months of working on the soap Pangako Sa ‘Yo, Diego Loyzaga said being part of the Kapamilya network’s highest rating soap until the very end gave him many lessons as an actor. “Sa work ethics madami akong natutunan kasi yung mga nakasama ko dito mga bigating mga artista, sila Jodi (Sta. Maria), Ian (Veneracion) at si Ate Ange (Angelica Panganiban). And of course sila tita Amy (Austria-Ventura) and si tito Ronnie (Lazaro) din. It was a really cool mix of actors and actresses kasi parang I saw the way they work and how professional they are pagdating sa trabaho so na-a-apply ko din yun sa pag-wo-work ko,” he tells Push.com.ph. Diego said that he also loved the “barkadahan” among the show’s younger cast members especially when they shot book one of Pangako Sa ‘Yo. “Nakikita ko naman yung kulitan moments na parang kailangan din yun sa work para hindi lagi seryoso, para masaya pa rin. It was always really fun, nasa beach kami. As in you wake up in the morning and you’re at the beach for two months. Parang hindi siya trabaho, parang puro good time good time lang. Tapos when it came to the time na, ‘O Diego isasalang ka na,’ biglang it’s time to be professional again and it’s nice to have variety of different artists na kasama sa show pero makikita mo rin yung differences,” he admitted. After his character got murdered on the show, Diego said he had mixed emotions about how his role ended. “Bilang Diego, watching the show and everything oo nalungkot ako parang, ‘Oh no namatay si David!’ pero bilang David kasi may hustisya kasi sa pagkamatay niya eh. Because kailangan malaman ni Amor na anak niya si Yna. So because there’s justice okay lang ang storya sa akin,” he said. Diego said that as the show reaches its last four episodes, he already knows which was his favorite scene to shoot. “Yung babarilin si Gov. Yung paglingon pa lang patak na ng luha. Yung nabaril si Gov kasi ako yung nagplano na ibaril si Gov eh. So meron yung switch ng emotion. Paputok na yung araw nun eh. And normally may cut-off pero dahil we were in Zambales we really had to make the most of our time. So direk sabi, ‘Diego, i-wa-one take natin ito ha. Ang set-up namin four cameras, lahat. Ikaw ‘to. You have to be ready for it.’Sabi ko, ‘Okay direk, game.’ Umuulan so we had to wait the longest time para tumigil yung ulan para makuha yung scene kasi it was outside. And then so my emotion was parang malapit ako kay Gov pero I’m going to be a traitor tapos ako yung naka-plan na barilin siya,” he added. After Pangako Sa ‘Yo, Diego admitted he is excited to work on his other projects already lined up with the Kapamilya network this year. “As of now, there’s My Bloody Crayons which is a movie na Star Cinema and then after that malapit na ang teleserye namin ni Sofia Andres,” he shared.

EXCLUSIVE: JAYDA AVANZADO REACTS TO BEING CALLED ‘ARIANA GRANDE OF THE PHILIPPINES’ As the only child of singer-actors Dingdong Avanzado and Jessa Zaragoza, Jayda Avanzado said she has always admired her parents as singers as well as other artists. “To start off with local, all bias aside, I admire my parents; Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado. Along with them, I love Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid. I think that I appreciate them because of the fact that I can see how hard they have worked to get to where they are now and their originality is what strikes me the most. I believe that as an artist, it’s important to be unique because it is what makes you an artist,” she shares exclusively with Push.com.ph Having started singing at the age of three, Jayda said singing has always come naturally to her. “When the movie Dream Girls came out, I memorized the entire soundtrack at the time! To be honest, no one really ‘taught’ me to sing, I’d say my parents gave me some tips which later evolved as I got older to what we call constructive criticism today. I remember my mom teaching me this Christina Aguilera riff from her version of ‘Car Wash’ and of course, I tried to do it but failed miserably, but I wouldn’t stop trying though,” she shared. Out of the many different kinds of music, the 12-yearold performer already has her chosen genre. “Pop has always been my favorite. I grew up listening to pop. At a young age, that genre was what my parents would expose me to, and over time, I grew attached to it. This is probably the kind of music I’d like to make in the future,” she added. With her growing number of online fans who have seen videos of her doing cover songs, Jayda admitted she appreciates all the attention. With her impressive rendition of one of her idols, fans have started calling her the local version of Ariana Grande. “First off all, it’s a really great compliment to
hear that. But in all honesty and with due respect, I don’t wish to be exactly like her. Sure, I’d like to think of her as an inspiration and motivation for me as I am building up my career. But I don’t want to just model myself after her, because I want to be Jayda Avanzado, not really the Ariana Grande of the Philippines, like I said, it’s a huge compliment but I am not in anyway trying to copy her,” she explained. Apart from guesting in her mom Jessa’s concert I Am Me earlier this month, Jayda will be capping off January as the front act for international band The Vamps on January 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena. She shared her feelings when she first found out she got the major gig, “To be honest, I didn’t see it coming at all, so when I sent the compilation of my performances to them for approval, I tried not get my hopes up for a response that I’d only dreamt of at the time. For it to actually become reality is so surreal, exciting, and nerve-wracking. On a side note, I did get a bit emotional when I got a phone call from my mom giving me the news,” she recalled. Jayda admitted she feels really honored to be opening the show for The Vamps. “Yeah! I’m definitely a fan, they are so dedicated to their craft, and are extremely grounded. To answer your second question, I honestly don’t know I hope that I am able to meet them, that would be amazing if I do,” she said.
When it comes to her choice of songs, the talented teen said it will be worth the wait. “I think that I’d like to keep that a surprise at the moment, with the concert only a day away you’ll find out soon enough but I did pick my own set list, so the songs I chose are definitely close to my heart and are all-time favorites of mine,” she added.

Confirms that she’s no longer part of “It’s Showtime” “Pasion de Amor” star Coleen Garcia confirmed through an interview with ABS-CBN News’ Gretchen Fullido that she wouldn’t be returning to the noontime show “It’s Showtime” for now. Coleen left the show for a moment in 2015 because of her movie “Ex with Benefits” and her ongoing TV series “Pasion de Amor.” “Actually, I was barely ever there during the entire second half of 2015,"
said Garcia, who joined the noontime program three years back. "I don't think I'll be returning. Management talked to me and they want me to focus on acting," she said. Coleen will be having a new film project under Star Cinema that will be directed by Gino M. Santos. She shared that she will be working with Piolo Pascual and Dawn Zulueta. Although Manny has already given his public apology, Boy still aired his thoughts on the matter. The unusually gloomy Boy introduced the VTR on Manny Pacquaio with, “respeto po ang pinag-uusapan natin ngayon gabi, narito po…” Boy began his commentary with, “narinig ko po ang apology ni Manny Pacquiao pero nais ko pa rin pong magsalita dahil buong araw kong kinimkim ang aking sama ng lob at ang aking galit.” Boy then took full responsibility for his statements and asked the audience to exclude the network and program from what he was about to say. For if indeed we are created equal, then the love we have for each other must be equal as well.’ Common sense ‘di ba? At the presscon for her new fantaserye project Ang Panday on TV5, Jasmine Curtis-Smith couldn't help but be asked by local media to comment on the recent Snapchat video she posted (and immediately deleted) of her looking very friendly Erwann Heussaff. Netizens were quick to post malicious comments about her obvious closeness to her sister's longtime boyfriend. "I can't blame them I guess. I can see what they can see but at the same time they don't know us personally. We've been that way ever since they've been dating so it's not like biglaang lang may na-develop na ganun na closeness between us. But between the three of us it was never an issue. The fact na naging malaking issue siya sa ibang tao or sa public parang unavoidable naman talaga, yun lang," she admitted during the Ang Panday press conference held last February 9 at Plaza Ibarra in Quezon City. What projects awaits him this 2016? Following the success of his 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Walang Forever, Jericho Rosales, who is celebrating his 20 years in show business, shared that there is a new project brewing for him in the Kapamilya network. “Mina-mount na nila ‘yung bagong project namin for ABS-CBN… Itong February ‘yung story conference namin but may mga detalye na so mababago na ‘yung timeslot ko. Mamamasyal muna ako sa maagang timeslot. Isa pa ‘yun sa mga wishlist ko na natupad na maging 7, 7:30, 8PM so thank God,” he said, later adding that it will be a wholesome show involving children and fantasy animation. His last teleserye in the network was the primetime show Bridges of Love in 2015.
Echo also cleared that they are still in the preparation process of the teleserye. “Actually, preparation pa lang lahat. ‘Yung isa, mga mid-year pa ‘yun eh.” When asked what it will be about, Jericho replied that this TV show will involve water, some action, a love story and a classic song. Meanwhile, the actor shared that he and his manager are still thinking of movies he might do this year because of his schedule. Jericho expressed interest in doing one independent and one mainstream film, and if given the chance again, another MMFF entry. Speaking of movies, Jericho also shared that he wants to do a second installment of Alagwa,
the indie film that premiered in the 2012 Busan International Film Festival in South Korea and gave him acting recognition. “Kami ni Ian Lorenos (Director of Alagwa) kasi, nag-usap kami. I’ve been convincing him para gumawa ng Alagwa 2 – what happened in between? When he (his main character) found his son sa tunnel, di ba doon nag-end ‘yung film? But meron pa siyang journey of more than five years after nabaril ‘yung nagkidnap sa anak niya doon sa loob din ng tunnel sa Manila. What happened to the five years?” he said.
