There is no doubt that a Gary Valenciano concert is worth every peso but his latest concert, the celebration of his 30th year in the business, titled Arise Gary Valenciano The Repeat at the SM Mall of Asia Arena last August 2 simply tops expectations due to the following items:

Two years since they were formed on the stage of talent show X Factor Philippines, all-girl group AKA JAM composed of Ashley Campbell, Jhelsea Maine Fllores, Katrina Velarde, Monique Lualhati, and Auriette Divina has yet to shine in a concert until Gary’s Arise The Repeat. Apart from playing as his backup singers for the concert, the girls proved that they still have the talent that got them far on the now defunct talent show when they performed “He’s Enough” with Gary complete with a dance number. We know that Gary was among the best dance hit makers back in the 80s. This he once again proved during Arise The Repeat when he allowed his dance songs to get some “tweaking” through his guest Manolet “DJ Papi” Santos who turned them into modern-sounding house music complete with laser lights and disco ball. Among the songs they mixed were “Hataw Na,” “Shake It Off,” and “You Got Me Working.” His performance of his recent song “Saytay” with his heir-apparent Sam Concepcion likewise deserves a nod as they got everyone on their feet and busting a move.

“Sa Yahweh” with the Manoeuvres

They weren’t one of the best dance groups during their time for nothing. This was what the Manoeuvres proved during their appearance on Arise The Repeat when they brought the house down with Gary to the tune of “Sa Yahweh.” Sure they’re not as popular as other dance groups today but apparently, it was their group that first performed the said song back in the 80s.

The song made popular by ABS-CBN’s The Filipino Channel spoke a lot about the Filipino culture and how it was translated onstage during Arise The Repeat was the same if not better. Gary shared the stage with singer Rico Blanco and a bunch of festive and colorful masskara-wearing men while they are choreographically hitting the drums in front of them. It was so festive and colorful and filled with hope which is what most if not all Overseas Filipino Workers have in their hearts.

If you think that the one-man, well-edited, highly imaginative, and impeccably choreographed and perfectly timed viral #SuperSelfies popularized and done by Gab is already amazing when you see it online via YouTube then it’s safe to say that it’s a hundred times better when done in person, onstage, in front of thousands of people with no less than his father Gary V as his partner. This was exactly what the Arise The Repeat audience were treated to when the father and son had a dance/#superselfie face off complete with props and costume.

ince phenomenally successful teleseryes like Mara Clara and Mula sa Puso have been remade with younger stars, the Push Team takes a look at other series which could be rebooted with the next generation of stars. (This list is purely hypothetical and should not be taken as fact.) The 1996 soap that further catapulted then budding superstar Judy Ann Santos and her leading men Wowie de Guzman and Piolo Pascual to stardom deserves a remake. After Princess & I, Got To Believe, and most recently She’s Dating The Gangster, it’s very much obvious that Kathryn Bernardo is slowly becoming ready for more mature and heavier roles. While Kathniel’s chemistry is definitely one for the books, this may be the series for Kathryn should she go solo. Morose Joseph Marco can seemingly take on the role of Anton Montejo (Wowie), Esperanza’s childhood sweetheart, while hunky Dominique Roque (Piolo) can take on the role of two-faced “spy” Brian who eventually falls in love with the lead star. Saan Ka Man Naroroon had Claudine Barretto play three contrasting roles of triplets separated at birth namely, Rosenda, Rosario, and Rosemarie. This TV series really made Claudine a household name, especially since it was her comeback soap after the very successful Mula sa Puso and who better take on the role once again other than Julia Montes. Julia has slowly blossomed from the teen we all saw in Growing Up into a fine actress who despite at her tender age of 19 can shine next to teleserye giants like Coco Martin and Kim Chiu in her recent soap Ikaw Lamang. Julia’s three leading men could be Gerald Anderson to take on the role of the mature Diether Ocampo, Matteo Guicidelli for the role of the timid Leandro Muñoz, and Aljur Abrenica for the role of the supportive Carlos Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay was soap that started it all for the unparalleled love team of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo back in 2003. The emerging tandem of Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano could take on the roles for this theoretical remake. Enrique who is being groomed to become a universal leading man has starred opposite actresses like Julia Montes, Julia Barretto, Kathryn, Liza, and Bea herself. His onscreen chemistry with Liza in She’s The One and in the upcoming The Bet is the reason why this pairing will work.

The Voice Kids grand winner Lyca Gairanod: ‘Salamat po sa nagtiwala sa akin’

yca Gairanod expressed her sincerest gratitude to those who voted for her as The Voice Kids of the Philippines grand champion. “Salamat po sa nagtiwala po sa akin. Salamat po sa bumoto sa akin thank you po, at sa mga artists po,” she remarked in a short speech at the after-party of the competition. The young singer said that now that she won, the first thing that she is going to do is to buy her siblings some stuff they need. “Bibili ko po kung ano ang gusto ng kapatid ko, ibibili ko po sila,” she said. In an earlier interview with Push.com. ph, Lyca expressed her desire to win the competition in order to help her family. “Gusto-gusto ko po mag-champion eh. Ang gusto ko pong maging pangarap na hindi na po kami maghihirap, tutulungan ko na po ‘yung pamilya ko at tsaka hindi na po kami aawayin. Bibili po kami ng bahay, mapag-aaral po namin ‘yung mga kapatid ko,” she said. Aside from singing, Lyca also wants to try acting. “Gusto ko rin pong sumali sa Goin’ Bulilit, di ba po ‘yung Goin’ Bulilit nagpapatawa po yun,” she said. Contender Juan Karlos Labajo, who was the third placer, said that he is happy for Lyca since the prize will help the latter’s family. “Napaka-deserving po ni Lyca na manalo,” he said at the backstage after the announcement of the winner. Darren Espanto, who was the second placer, remarked that Lyca was really his toughest contender. “Si Lyca po ‘yung pinaka-contender ko,” he stated.

She said that her daughter’s winnings would definitely change the course of their lives. “Sobrang saya ko po, walang katumbas na saya dahil natupad niya ‘yung mga pangarap niya sa amin, sa kanilang magkakaptid na makagpag-aral sila. Lyca is her fifth child in her brood of eight. As the grand winner of the competition, Lyca won a house and lot from Camella Homes, a recording contract with MCA Universal, and a Php1-million cash prize, among other things. o say that a lot has changed in his life since he underwent rehabilitation for the use of illegal drugs would be a huge understatement for actor JM de Guzman. Not only has he lost opportunities, but it also made him realize who would be there for him during the hardest times in his life. Did any of his former co-stars and showbiz friends tried to reach out to him to express their support? “Mahirap sagutin kasi hindi ko pa sila lahat name-meet ulit kasi nga di nila ako mahanap. Pero naniniwala ako na lahat sila nagalala. Lahat sila may paki and lahat sila were praying for me,” JM said. Now that he’s officially back to work, has any of them tried to catch up with him? “Konti palang eh. Ngayon sila Ketchup [Eusebio] and Janus [del Prado] na matagal ko na ring kaibigan pero parang naging mentors ko rin. Sila rin ‘yung mga kuya-kuyahan ko,” he shared about his co-stars in his upcoming Ipaglaban Mo episode this weekend. JM clarified that there are no new offers yet for him but he confessed, “Pero nung sinabi ni Direk Wenn ‘yun sobrang na-excite ako. Looking forward ako pero ayoko ring asahan ng todo-todo kapag natuloy or hindi.” How about his love life? “Wala, wala pa po. Wala pa po muna, hintayin ko na lang dumating,” he ended.

He said that he is happy for Lyca since it will help the latter’s family. “Napaka-deserving po talaga ni Lyca na manalo kasi talagang as you know, let’s got to the old story, nangangalakal lang sila, ganyan, tapos pag may bagyo, ngayon grand champion na siya ng The Voice Kids, may Camella homes, di na yan maano ng baha, so congratulations to Lyca,” he said. Now that the competition is over, Juan Karlos shared that he wants to try to try acting. “I think I want to be an actor,” he said. But he also wants to do singing. In a recent interview with Push, he relayed that he wants to follow the footsteps of two of the most bankable stars in showbiz at the moment. “[I want to follow the footsteps of] Daniel Padilla and Enrique Gil,” he said. JK shared that he always wanted to be in showbiz. “Ever since I really like to be in showbiz: camera, acting, singing. I really liked to be an actor a long time ago before I start sa The Voice.” He further shared in the recent interview, “The reason why I want to join showbiz is people don’t live forever, we only live for a short time in this world, I want to be an actor because I want to be known by other people. Team Sarah’s Darren Espanto hopes to pursue a solo career

e may not have clinched the The Voice Kids title, but with the huge amount of online support he has garnered from fans both in and outside showbiz, young singer Darren Espanto couldn’t be any more grateful. The Team Sarah heartthrob during an exclusive interview with Push after their recently-concluded Boses ng Bulilit… Kami Ulit charity concert is very well aware that a lot have rooted for him to win the competition. To this he said, “Well I’m happy na maraming tao po ang naniwala sa kakayahan ko at sa akin po.” He continued, “I just like to say thank you for the support. For believing in me and believing in my talent and I feel very humbled and blessed for that.” The 13-year-old singer who lives in Canada got his online fans worried that he might leave the country since he failed to emerge as the winner. While he has already clarified that such wouldn’t be the case in a previous Push report, Darren revealed that he’s staying because “There were offers na dumating po sa akin after grand finals kaya baka po mas matagal na ‘yung stay ko dito sa Pilipinas.” In one of his segments in the concert with the other The Voice Kids boys, Darren was seen sharing the stage with boy group Gimme 5 composed of Nash Aguas, Joaquin Lucas Reyes, John Immanuel Bermundo, Grae Fernandez, and Brace Henry Arquiza. Asked if he would be open to probably be part of a boy group, the young charmer begged off saying that, “For me it would be a nice experience to be part of a boy group pero parang gusto kong maging solo artist pa po.” Darren said he is even open to sharing the stage with other singers not only the ones from his age, just like his other co-Team Sarah members Morissette Amon and Klarisse De Guzman with whom he performed with during the concert. “Well kahit sino gusto kong maka-perform kasi dream ko naman po ‘yun na makakanta with some of my favorite artists,” he said sharing that his favorite artists include Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano and Concert King Martin Nievera. What are his long-term goals? “Gusto ko pong magkaroon ng sarili ko pong major concert and also to create my first album,” he said smiling. His parents are registered nurses and they emigrated from Nueva Vizcaya to Canada and he has a litlle sister named Lynette. Darren was born on May 24, 2001 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Before joining The Next Star in Canada, Espanto first joined a singing contest for young Filipinos in Edmonton and won during the Masters Finals of Pinoy Singing Sensation on November 19, 2011. adine Lustre said she just shrugs off being tagged as a Kathryn Bernardo “copycat.” “Opo. Sinasabi nila copycat. Pero I don’t get affected naman,” Nadine said in an interview during the grand press conference of her upcoming movie Talk Back and You’re Dead (TBYD) opposite James Reid and Joseph Marco. Her striking similarity with the Teen Queen has been the subject of debate among their fans with many even claiming that she’s deliberately copying Kathryn’s voice and style. “Well, I can’t do anything about it. I guess, yung tipo ni Kath at yung sa akin, pansinin eh. Pero a lot of people naman are telling me I don’t [look exactly like her]. Siguro in some angles, I don’t. I really don’t bother naman,” she said. For Nadine, being compared to Kathryn actually has its advantages. “It’s okay. Actually, it’s not really bad. Kasi people notice me kahit bashers ‘yan, kahit ayaw nila sa akin at least, they notice me.” But even if she remains positive about her bashers, Nadine clarified that she makes a conscious effort to make sure her image is not close to Kathryn’s. “Yes po. he Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday dismissed the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act charge filed by comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas against former husband Jed Salang last year. The DZMM report noted that the dismissal came months after Ai Ai apparently expressed disinterest in pursuing the case. The twopage resolution by Assistant City Prosecutor Hector Buenaluz Jr. ruled out that there’s no probable cause against Jed due to the lack of evidence. The court noted that Ai Ai did not submit any medico legal report to

support her claim. Furthermore, she also failed to surrender any video, after accusing Jed of attempting to make a sex video involving their intimate affair. Last year, Ai Ai hogged headlines after a tearful confession claiming that she has experienced physical abuse from her then new husband Jed which led to her filing of violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court. fter the Asian premiere of Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Inferno held last August 6 in SM Megamall, the film’s star Takeru Satoh also attended the public presscon of the movie held the following day at the Glorietta center in Makati city along with co-star Munetaka Aoki and director Keisho Otomo. Fans of the film waited outside as early as 8 am even before the mall opened and reserved their spot for the 6 pm event. Takeru arrived to hordes of screaming fans whom he greeted in Tagalog, “Masaya ako nakita ko kayo!” The 25-year-old Japanese actor reprises the role of Himura Kenshin, a former assassin who becomes a wanderer in the second installment of the Japanese live action film trilogy based on a popular manga and anime. Playing the role of the legendary swordsman, Takeru said is the most major role he has ever played and cannot think of what roles he wants to take on next. “Having been given this major role in my life, it’s really difficult for me to think of what I can do next but if I were to wish something I would want to work again with director Otomo and create some great movies with him again,” he said through an interpreter. Takeru also admitted that working on the Rurouni Kenshin movies and the fight scenes were a big challenge. “I got injured a lot of times so I really can’t specify one (specific) incident. But my favorite battle scene would be in the Legend Ends and it’s the last fight scene I had. That’s really the part where I bring out everything out of all the scenes I have done. In the fight scene where I fight against Shishio that is something that you definitely have to watch out for,” he added. Takeru also shared that the role also taught him a lesson he applies to himself. “In my daily life, with what I do when I’m not sure of my decision making, I always ask myself, ‘If I was Kenshin what would I decide to do?’ So he’s already like someone that I respect and look up to and I refer to him my decisions in life,” he said. Takeru said the movie teaches the viewers a better way to live life. “It teaches the fact that you cannot really diminish or delete the past. I’m going to dwell into something very philosophical, some people may say just forget the past and just think it never happened but in my case I think Kenshin still let the past influence his decisions in his life. I feel that it is very admirable that he still remembers and looks back on his past and tried to live a better life based on that past. For me and hopefully everyone can also learn to live that way of looking at the past and living and moving forward,” he explained.

Apart from the epic battle scenes, Takeru said the movie also showcases how beautiful the Japanese culture is. “We were putting that in mind and we wanted people to appreciate and understand something that is distinctively Japanese as a culture as we created this action movie for everyone to enjoy. “I hope that Rurouni Kenshin will pave the way for more and more Japanese movies to come to the Philippines. And with that I really hope that I could come back again to the Philippines,” he said.

Lydia remarked that she felt ecstatic to finally be singing live for her supporters in the country. “I’ve always felt like majority of my fans are Filipinos so I’m thankful for that and I just want to be here and be able to perform for them,” she said in an interview with Push and MYX. The performer who was born and raised in the United States and moved to South Korea to pursue a career in music said that her style revolves around R&B and soul. “Overall I feel like it’s from the ‘80s and my favorite genre of music is ‘90s and R&B and soul. I also like pop, I love rock country but I think what I usually gear towards is R&B and soul.” She stated that her main goal is to release songs that people would enjoy especially her fans here in the country. “I don’t where this journey is going to take me. My goal is to put my own music. I don’t know how it is going to evolve, I’m just going to keep on praying and make sure that I am following God’s path and know that He has a plan for me.” Lydia continued, “When I become a singer like an artist professionally, the main thing is just to enjoy the music, nothing else nothing about the fame and the money. This was shared by the couple during their live appearance on The Buzz on Sunday where they revealed that they would like to make use of artificial insemination, a medical alternative to sexual intercourse for those who want to have a child. The idea is for the egg cell to come from the Be Careful With My Heart star while the Mirabella star would be carrying the child. The sperm cell though, according to them, would come from an anonymous donor. “Initially we were thinking na siguro a friend of ours para siguro kilala namin. Kaso baka maging mas complicated siya in the process,” said Liza when asked why they decided to keep the donor anonymous. Another reason why they want the donor’s identity to be withheld is so that they could still tap the same person should they decide to undergo another procedure.

RYAN BANG SETTLES TAX EVASION CASE WITH BIR

A report posted on entertainment blogsite, Get It From Boy revealed that Mary Christine filed the complaint “last June 27 at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.” The supposed affidavit complaint confirmed longtime rumors about the halfBritish actor that he is legally married and that their marriage is not yet annulled. But the more shocking revelation was that he had a son with Mary Christine named Austin Gabriel who is now 11 years old. The complaint even added that Derek supposedly “refused to recognize and support his son” which eventually led them to be subjected to “repeated emotional, psychological, and economic abuse.” According to the report, Mary Christine supposedly met Derek some time in 2001 through a common friend. After which they started dating and months later she moved into the actor’s home in Makati. She described their relationship as: “rocky as we fought all the time. He was very jealous, possessive, and demanding. I was always ordered to stay at home.” Their shaky relationship, according to the report, even continued when Mary Christine announced her pregnancy. She revealed, “To my shock, the news of being [a] father was spurned by him. He even had the temerity to claim that the child was not his. I was aghast but kept myself together because of my condition.” She received the same kind of treatment when she gave birth to Austin in June 28, 2003 wherein she “asked respondent to be there for the birth of his first child, and for the DNA test, that he requested to have. He did not show up.” Due to Derek’s “apparent lack of concern” Mary Christine decided to move back to Dubai when their son was still three months old. But in 2011, when she came back for vacation, she decided to reach out to him but to no avail. The meeting left me traumatized, confused and frustrated. I was so humiliated to be attacked in such a way. Needless to state, we did not get any matter resolved,” she recalled.

She revealed that Derek supposedly met with his son only four times while the latter was in the country. To this she deduced, “Respondent never acted as a father to Austin at all. He is irresponsible and unfit to be around his son. He has no sense of respect towards Austin, or me. He is incapable of making adult decisions and is extremely immature.” While Derek never confirmed reports about him being a married man, to corroborate the claims, the blog site even published the supposed photos of Mary Christine and the star when they tied the knot in April 3, 2002.
