WELCOME NOTES Welcome back everyone to the start of what realistically the beginning of the Mead’s final push in the preparations towards the start of the new season which begins for us with a trip down the A21 to the Sussex coast and a date at Pilot Field to face Hastings United.
Tuesday before we will welcome Gillingham on Saturday. Now at time of writing we cannot confirm if it will be the same Gills squad as played here against the Darts last week, but whatever eleven wear the Blue on Saturday afternoon, they will provide a massive test for the Mead.
But between then and now, Tommy and the 2018/9 Mead face two home games this week starting with our “Landlords” Dartford on
And with that coming after the Darts “visit” on Tuesday which will see their new management team of Jamie Coyle and Adam Flanagan

once more heading to the visitors dressing room and bench as they have done on many occasions before their joint appointment over the summer - we obviously wish them well for the new Vanarama South season. So if you’re reading this on Tuesday or Saturday, welcome and we hope that you come again to follow the Mead in the new BOSTIK League South East Division and you never know, you might want to get involved.

THE MANAGER <
TOMMY WARRILOW May I welcome the officials, team and supporters of Dartford and Gillingham to Princes Park and I hope you all enjoy the action Welcome back. I’d like to start by adding my condolences to the family of Peter Teirney who very sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago. Peter was one of our vice presidents and I cannot say anything about Peter’s warmth and loving of this club that hasn’t already been said by others as he truly was a very kind man who supported the club through thick and thin and he will be sorely missed by all of us.
I’m happy thus far with what we’ve got.
play an integral part in what we’re looking to achieve.
Seven have left for various reasons – some have moved onto bigger and better things further up the pyramid, but some, in my opinion, have made some very strange moves, but that’s their respective choices and I respect them for that.
We received another boost on Saturday morning when Danny Parish signed on for the season after going away at the end of last season to consider his options. To see him at K Sports on Saturday was very pleasing as we all know what Danny can do after his goal scoring particularly after Christmas.
On that note, I’d like to welcome in Will Godmon who I think will more than adequately fill the shoes of Lewis Carey – Will’s another great shot-stopper and I’m delighted to have him.
Anyway, after a couple of warm-up games in very trying conditions that has proved a good test for everyone, we start today on what I consider is the point that our pre-season gets serious.
Another I am delighted to have is John Coker who is a central defender who left Staines after missing a lot of last season, but he’s looked sharp and encouraging thus far.
Playing wise, we’re still obviously looking at strengthening before the start of the season, although
Finally, Matt Bodkin joins us and, like John, he’ll bring us experience and hopefully will

We’ve these two warm-up games here at Princes Park, before hitting the road for our last two games before we start the new look Bostik South East League with a trip to Hastings United on August 11th. Whilst mentioning our division this year, my aim is the same as it was last year – we want to make the play-offs. It does make me smile when some managers are asked where they want to be at the end of the season say that
> THE MANAGER
they just want to finish above the relegation line – that doesn’t work with me, it really doesn’t!
actually had a player question about travelling from Gravesend to Dartford!
Our division this season really does remind me of an old fashioned Southern League with a good representation from Kent and some good traditional non-league teams – though one thing that does make me smile is the comments that some players make about travelling to play for a club.
So here we go then – a couple of warm-up’s before the build up to the start of another season really does start now – so whether you’re here for the Dartford game or the Gillingham game – a massive thanks of course to both sides for agreeing to fit us into their pre-season campaigns – we’ve four games to get things done as much as we can on the pitch before a week’s training before we head to the Sussex coast to start another season.
When I was playing at this level, it wasn’t uncommon that we had to go to Methyr Tydfil or Weymouth on a Saturday, but now I really don’t know as I’ve
We’re not running on the biggest squad again this year, but hopefully running with an under-23 side will help plug some of the gaps when injuries and suspensions come around. But once again we all must back the chairman and try to get financial input into the club through advertising, sponsorship or whatever fits in with your budget – the chairman is awaiting your call! Enjoy today’s game and see you all again soon. Tommy Warrilow First-team Manager

The address for cemetery is Kemnal Park Cemetery, A20 Sidcup Bypass, Chislehurst BR7 6RR.
