HOUSHAM
May I welcome the officials, players and supporters of Maidstone United to our home this Monday afternoon, and I hope after an enjoyable game everyone has a safe journey home. Welcome to the Eon Visual Media Stadium as we take on Maidstone United. Looking back at the Barrow game it was a real kick in the teeth to concede with virtually the last kick of the game. We
We travelled to Eastleigh last Saturday and we knew it was going to be difficult but again we failed to put some good chances away what we had. But there was a lot of positives to take out of the game against a team that will be challenging
intend to make sure we do and keep believing in ourselves. We have a new signing on show in Reece Thompson, he is a striker with an eye for goal with lots of pace and someone I’ve been after for sometime. He is a very exciting prospect! As many of you know we are playing Macclesfield Town on October 1st and myself and the squad would like to thank you the fans by helping towards the cost of your bus. As I’ve said from day one, you the fans, have been fantastic and this is your journey just as much as it is ours. This is our way of saying thank you and I hope to see you fill the bus and support your club.

MAIDSTONE UNITED
Hoping to get back to winning ways North Ferriby United host Maidstone United at the Eon Visual Media Stadium this afternoon... Maidstone United, like the Villagers, were promoted to the National League after winning promotion via the Play-offs from the National League South and the club have acquitted themselves well in their new league. A solid opening 1-1 draw with York City was followed by a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Aldershot Town. The Stones then picked up their first win of the campaign when they travelled to face Chester and prevailed in a 3-1 victory. The club notched a successive three points when they beat Braintree Town 2-1 at the 4

Gallagher Stadium. Back-to-back defeats showed Maidstone the quality of the league losing to both Tranmere Rovers and Forest Green Rovers but the club showed their steel and bounced back with a 1-0 away win over Boreham Wood.

THE RISING STAR
TOM MILLS JACK PAXMAN Jack signed for the Stones from Witham Town towards the end of the 2014/15 season. He worked his way through the youth set-up at Southend United, joining the club at the age of 12 and playing for the first team when he was 18. The midfielder, after a loan spell with Soham Town, joined Chelmsford City in August 2013.
BEN GREENHALGH The exciting 24-year-old midfielder won a Ryman Premier Championship medal with Maidstone in 2015 before opting to move to Concord Rangers, a club he had played for at the end of the 2012/13 season. In 2010, Ben won the Sky One football reality show Football’s Next Star, where he won a professional sixth-month contract with Italian giants Inter Milan.
BOBBY-JOE TAYLOR The former Cambridge United player joined the Stones last summer. The 21-year-old – who can play on either wing, as well as left back or up front – made eight appearances for the League Two side. He started out with Chelsea before a move to Gillingham at the age of 14. A couple of years later he left Priestfield and was snapped up by Cambridge with the offer of a scholarship, followed by a pro-deal.
TOM MURPHY The 24-year-old, who can play up front or on the wing, was a free agent after leaving Dover Athletic at the end of the 2015/16 season. He had been with the Whites since August 2013 and scored 25 league goals during his time there. His 2015/16 campaign was hampered by a hamstring injury he sustained in only the second game of the season.
Tom is a 23-year-old defender who has played more than 250 times for the Stones. He is a product of Maidstone United’s youth system and has been a contract player since March 2011. He is an exciting left-back who causes opponents problems with his pace, surging runs and pinpoint crosses. Tom, whose formative football years were spent with Sheppey United and Sheerness East, recently signed a new deal to stay with the Stones until 2018.
THE GAFFER
JAY SAUNDERS Jay is in his sixth season as manager of Maidstone United and has led the side to three promotions in the past four seasons. He was appointed as caretaker boss following the departure of Andy Ford in March 2011, before being given the job on a permanent basis at the end of that season. CLUB HISTORY
MAIDSTONE UNITED Maidstone United Football Club was founded in 1897. Following the demise of the Football League side in 1992, the club was reborn as Maidstone Invicta and joined the Kent County League Division Four for the 1993/94 season. Following a restructuring of the league, they were promoted to Division Two and won the title again as well as lifting the Kent Junior Cup. After three seasons in Division One, the Stones finally earned promotion to the Kent County League Premier Division. In their second season in the Kent County League Premier Division – during which Maidstone United were awarded senior status – the Stones finished as runners-up to Bearsted and duly earned promotion. The club returned to the Kent League for the 2001/2002 season and played their home games at Central Park in Sittingbourne. Maidstone became league champions on the last day of the season when they defeated Deal Town at the Charles Sports Ground. The highlight of the 2002/2003 was the league, the club led the table for almost the entire season but following the late resignation of Faversham Town, the League Management Committee decided the title would be awarded to the club with the highest points earned per match average. As such, with Maidstone and Thamesmead Town both achieving 63 points from 30
games, the championship was actually won by Cray Wanderers with 62 points from 29 games. Amazingly, The Stones had lost the league title by 0.14 points! The Stones were crowned Kent League champions in 2006 for the second time and secured the league and cup double. The Stones repeated their championship victory for a second successive season when, yet again on the last day of the campaign, they travelled to Walton Casuals and secured the Ryman League Division One South title with a 2-1 win. Following another promotion the club spent five years in the Ryman League Premier Division with little in the way of playing success. An eight-year groundshare agreement with Sittingbourne ended and for two seasons the Stones moved to The Homelands in Ashford. The club’s chairman of 19 years, Paul Bowden-Brown, stepped away from the club having taken it as far as he could. Replacing BowdenBrown as majority shareholders and co-owners were Oliver Ash and Terry Casey, but the season ended in major disappointment as the Stones were relegated for the first time in their history to Ryman League Division One South. The Stones missed out on the play-offs at the end of the 2011/12 season but the ultimate prize was happening off the pitch. The Gallagher Stadium in James Whatman Way was completed
and Saturday 14 July.
on
The first season back in the county town ended in a massive celebration when the Stones won promotion to the Ryman Premier Division beating Faversham Town 3-0 in the play-off final. At the end of the 2013/14 campaign Maidstone missed out on a play-off place by two points but silverware came in the form of the Robert Dyas League Cup. The following season was one to remember; the Stones made it to the second round proper of the FA Cup, beating League Two Stevenage Town in a first round replay in front of BT Sport cameras and a capacity crowd. The season ended in style with the Ryman Premier Division title and with it promotion to the Vanarama National League South. During the 2015/16 season the club again qualified for the first round proper of the FA Cup where they narrowly lost 1-0 at home to League Two side Yeovil Town in front of a record-breaking crowd of 2,811. After finishing third in the league the Stones faced Kent rivals Ebbsfleet United in the Promotion Final at Stonebridge Road. The match finished 2-2 after extra time and Maidstone won the resulting penalty shoot-out 4-3 to win promotion to The National League. NORTH FERRIBY UNITED The Official Matchday Programme

View From The
STANDS Sam Shepherd looks at the recent dip in form and highlights a lack of goals as a major factor in their slump... Since beating Torquay it’s fair to say Ferriby have hit a bit of a rough patch. The Villagers had started better than many expected picking up 7 points from their opening 5 games, however since then Steve Housham’s side have lost 2-0 away at Aldershot with a 1-0 defeat at home to Barrow wedged in-between. It’s clear to see the recurring theme to these results, a distinct lack of goals. Ferriby have registered just five goals this season the joint lowest in the league with 23rd placed Southport. Compared to most of the teams at the bottom Ferriby’s defence is about average and that’s including the blow out result at Lincoln. If Ferriby can find a way to score more goals they may well have a chance to survive this season. They are creating chances they just need the likes of Kendall, Robinson, Bateson and co to find their finishing boots. The two away defeats recently followed similar patterns. Ferriby battled well in both games but as they are discovering, to their dismay, this season if you switch off even momentarily at this level you will be punished.
22
NORTH FERRIBY UNITED The Official Matchday Programme
They had the sucker punch of conceding first in both games and that gave the home sides Aldershot and Eastleigh impetus to go on and get a second goal. In both defeats Ferriby worked their way back into the game and were creating plenty of chances by the end but it was too little too late in both instances. In fairness neither of those sides will be battling relegation with us this season so defeats were probably
expected. The most frustrating defeat of the three was the Barrow game as it was Ferriby’s first home defeat this season. It was a very even game as all the home games so far have been. It is evident that away sides find it difficult to play at a tight compact ground like ours so we will always have a chance at home this
season. It looked for all money like Ferriby had earned another valuable point albeit in a 0-0 draw, however they were denied deep into stoppage time when they failed to deal with a long throw in. Fans, players and management alike were absolutely gutted but that’s the nature of this league, you have to play right to
the final whistle or you can be left deflated. Let’s hope we can put that right and get 3 points today against a fellow newly promoted side Maidstone. Enjoy the game! Sam
