THE MANAGER
TERRY
SPILLANE
I’d like to welcome you all to Sporting Club Thamesmead as we welcome Heybridge Swifts to our home ground. Good evening and welcome back to a home League here at the SCT as we welcome the players, officials and supporters from Heybridge who have made the trip across the Bridge this Monday evening.
farcical! We lost 0-2 with the game played with a “hurricane” blowing down the middle of the pitch making it almost impossible to play any kind of football and I think the officials on the night should have been a lot braver and postponed it.
It seems almost a different season that we opened our campaign at Heybridge on one of the hottest days of the year back in August. And it seems almost as long since we had a home league game as since my last notes, we’ve had a tough run of games as well as clocking up the miles on the road against Enfield, Sudbury, Dereham and Hungerford.
At times, players were hitting the ball forward then watching it come back over their heads. That says it all about the game!
In the league we lost to Sudbury in a game that was
In the FA Trophy we went away to Enfield who boasted a home

record of 12 without losing! On the day we were fantastic and the boys carried out the game plan to the letter. We won the game 2-0 and were worthy winners. We were then drawn away again - this time at Hungerford, who had an even better record of 14 games undefeated. We went down to a weak goal on 15 mins as defensively we let ourselves down and could and should of dealt with the situation better. We were reduced to 10 men on the 30 minute mark but for the next 60 mins the boys showed character and desire by putting our hosts on the back foot! Unfortunately Lady Luck was not on our side as we

just could not find the equaliser due to a combination of great goalkeeping, wayward finishing and the woodwork. We ended up losing 0-3 as they hit us on the break making the scoreline a lot more flattering for them. At the final whistle the home fans applauded our players off which tells its own story. It was also great to see some TTFC fans there as always backing us to the hilt! So our Trophy dream is over for another year, but I’m told that we equalled the Cup’s best ever run in the competition!
We now need to concentrate on our initial target of getting into a play off place starting tonight against the Swifts. Lets get back to making the SCT the fortress that we did earlier in the season - it really does seem an age since we last had a home league game so lets make up for lost time tonight! PAUL
BOWDENBROWN
May I welcome the directors, officials and players of Heybridge Swifts FC to our Home at Sporting Club Thamesmead and I hope after your short stay and some refreshments you all have a Safe journey home on this Monday evening. A very warm welcome to an old ex-Chairman friend of mine in non-league football Richard Lawson who I understand is still involved behind the scenes at Ramsgate. Well as most of you know I have now had my spinal operation on November 5th and now am in a period of a long recuperation although I have put the AFC Hornchurch home game in my diary as a possible first home game that I will be able to visit the club again, but we will wait and see as my timetable may go out of the window, especially after I ignored my consultant and Christine who both said no way was I going to drive to Hungerford! So I decided to ask an old friend of mine to drive me to our Trophy match last Saturday. It was okay driving to Hungerford as we stopped to meet up with Terry and the Team for breakfast that I had arranged for everyone in Dartford. We stayed there for around 80 minutes and then had a leisurely drive direct to Hungerford so that when we arrived, I was able to get out of the car with the assistance of my stick and made it to the Bar with no problems with the repaired back

working the best it could with the help of my medication. But unfortunately for me, on the return journey my back decided to get its own back on me and lock up in a position that stopped me moving around in the passenger seat with ease meaning that when I got home after the 2 hour drive, I had to have two people ease me out of the car with the comments “we told you so! Anyway I have learnt my lesson painfully! Anyway the coach arrived around 20 minutes later at Hungerford after we had, and I understand the squad had a great journey down with plenty of singing going on the coach. The weather for the day was to be very cold with slight rain - well the ground at Hungerford was in an abysmal state - more like a field with the grass uncut cleanly and 3 inches long one of the goal mouths had more loose soil piled around the area than the whole of my allotment, and one corner flag was sitting in a quad mire of mud and water. But we received a very warm
welcome from the Hungerford Officials. So all round I was in a very positive frame of mind being advised by the Management that everyone one was up for the game, I spoke to a number of the new players who all confirmed that the squad was very positive for a good result so I was looking forward to watching a great game of football something that would have made the journey all worthwhile but as usual football has a great way of turning around and giving you a good hiding. As you all know I do not mind losing to a better team, but I hate losing after we had firstly not had the rub of the green - it was our fault for not taking the game to them in my opinion. We also had a very weak referee that loved giving out cards mostly yellow with a colour change for one of our players (who only joined the club days before) rather than allowing a good quick flowing football match, even on this matter, I feel the second yellow was a joke! But what really gets to me at this time, and to be honest it seriously worries me, is that these were the players that a month ago was sitting in the top 5

positions of the league. Now they are 14th after playing out of the skins to beat Enfield in a previous round of the Trophy and then lose two consecutive league matches. I do not know the reason for the drop in quality of play and getting goals. But I know the standard all of the players and what they are all capable of and I am sure the manager does also because that what I employ him for (well I hope he does), but my personal opinion of the match was firstly the score-line does not portray a true picture of the game. Yes we had chances, but did not always take them and we allowed them to totally dominate the game, and our defending I would suggest it felt like man against boys. We were making simple training ground mistakes all in our own area, and I have always said to win games you have to get a ball into the opposing teams area; something we were unable to do regularly on Saturday. So I suggest every person involved with this club looks at themselves and does something about the correcting
the current situation we find ourselves in at this time, I have always said players do not become bad players overnight. Therefore I will not sit here at home recuperating and allow the club to continue the downward trend within the league table that we seem to be taking at this time. I have given considerable financial investment to ensure we have a good squad that will achieve the aims agreed at the start of the season, and be assured I will ensure all of my aims are met whether it be with the tools I have at my disposal at this time or I have to renew partnerships. That remains to be seen but we are at the time that decisions must be made to ensure stability by everyone! I will continue to support this club as I am not a quitter but I need my support mirrored by the players who are responsible for matters on the field. I know I have the support from Terry but it has to be 100% from everyone otherwise we cannot do our job.
“I suggest every person involved with this club looks at themselves and does something about the correcting the current situation we find ourselves in

In her regular column this year first-team physio Carly Payne brings us up to date with the current injury list... Good evening all and welcome to Bayliss Avenue. After a disappointing loss on Saturday to Hungerford in the FA Trophy all thoughts and concentration are now firmly on the league and getting back to winning ways. The boys put on a brilliant performance and really couldn’t have done much more but unfortunately luck just wasn’t on our side. We welcome Heybridge Swifts tonight and I believe if we carry on where we left off Saturday then we’ll end the night with 3 points. It’s been a number of weeks since our last home game so here’s an update… Cheeno had now returned to the squad playing 60 minutes at Dereham great news and a major boost for the squad.
Gorbs (Marc Gorball) after coming off injured due to a hamstring injury 3 weeks ago (against Maidstone) is now back in the squad and looking to push for a place in the starting 11 over the coming week. Hoppo continues to make great progress in his recovery and we hope to see him back early next year.
For the first time since the beginning of the season we now have a full squad to select from, it’s been a tough couple of months for us with lots of niggly injuries which have kept players out but fingers crossed this will be the end of it.

HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS
CLUB INFO Nickname: Swifts Founded: 1880 Ground: Scraley Road Chairman: Nick Bowyer Last Season: 12th (Division 1 North)
When you glance at the Ryman League North table you’d be forgiven for thinking that Thamesmead Town will pick up an easy three points against a Heybridge Swifts side rooted to the foot of the table. However a deeper look into the club’s form could yield a different outcome. The Mead are suffering from a crisis of confidence having slipped from the heights of top spot through the months of August and September - with the side having now slipped to 14th in the division. After the thrilling 2-0 victory over Enfield Town, Thamesmead have recorded three consecutive losses against AFC Sudbury, Dereham Town and Hungerford Town - conceding eight and failing to find the back of the net. Up today are Heybridge Swifts who addressed their own rotten slump of six straight losses by drawing 3-3 with Waltham Abbey.

THE OPPOSITION
CLUB HISTORY The club was formed as Heybridge FC on the 1st November 1880 and it was a number of years before they played their first league match in the North Essex League. The “Swifts” prefix was adopted after the 2nd World War and there has been clubs called Heybridge FC & Heybridge Swifts FC during the early 1920’s. For the first 70 years of the last century the club played in the local leagues working their way through to become founder members of the Essex Senior League in the 1970-71 season. The switch to senior status was a difficult at first, but three successive championships saw a move up to the Isthmian League in 1984, and solid progress was made culminating in winning the Division Two North title in 1989-90 then runners up to Oxford City in Division One in the 1995-96 season, with richly deserved promotion to the Premier Division.
much hard work, blood, sweat and tears that have turned it into a stadium to be proud of. Former player Liam Cutbush managed the team that defeated Croydon 3-0 to win the Ryman League Cup and finished 7th in the Ryman Premier League in 2000/01.
09 season led to the resignation of Statham, replaced by former reserve team boss Wayne Bond and despite heroic effort Swifts lost their Premier Division status. Swifts missed out narrowly on the play-offs finishing 6th in 2009/10 and subsequent seasons saw them finish in 9th and 16th places.
Promotion to the Premier Division was achieved in 1997/98 but the following year a struggle against relegation ensued under ex-Colchester boss Roy McDonough who was soon replaced by local boy Robbie Nihill, turning things around to rescue the side and retain their Premiership status.
After Cutbush’s departure the side began badly under new manager Steve Dowman and he was soon replaced by ex-Swifts player Dave Greene guided Swifts to a comfortable mid table position. The following campaign was a struggle after a promising start, but a win in the final match of the season ensured Swifts survival in the Ryman Premiership. Brian Statham was appointed as manager earlier in 2005 with Barry Lakin as his assistant, and they oversaw a rise to the fringes of the play off zone.
Last season was a season of highs and lows – Manager Mark Hawkes led the side to the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round and then departed with a number of key players to Chelmsford City at the end of November. Jody Brown came in as Manager and built a play-off challenging side that finished 3rd in the league. Sadly the semi-final play-off against Harlow Town saw a 0-3 defeat. Brown left the club during preseason in disappointing circumstances and Swifts have now turned to new manager Keith Wilson to lead the team.
To look back at these achievements means that the village side from Essex have come a long way in a short space of time. Who, in the early 1960’s when the club nearly folded having been evicted by their landlords would have dreamed that by the turn of the millennium the field that was purchased as a carrot field has seen
Then in the 2005/06 campaign after a slow start Swifts finished as runners up, a tremendous achievement from all concerned, but unfortunately lost in the play offs. In the subsequent seasons, final positions of 10th and 12th respectively were disappointing after such previous high expectations. A disappointing start to the 2008 -
Cliff Akurang replaced Wilson in December 2014 and with Gavin Dawes turned matters around with Swifts form in the second-half of the season more likely of a side that was pressing for the play-offs, finally finishing in 12th position. A poor start to the 2015/16 season saw Swifts part company with Cliff Akurang in September 2015.

THE
ACADEMY
Good evening, and good luck to Terry and the lads tonight.
working relationship (where we can) that will help nurture the lads for good things ahead.
Over the last couple of weeks, Mike Green, Phil Messenger (SCL tutor/assistant coach ) and I have been working extremely hard on making sure the scheme is up to high standards that are set and we must meet in time for any OFSTED inspection - one that is due at some point before the end of the season!
I also attended an open evening at Business Academy Bexley, our other education provider, and it was lovely to meet and speak to players and parents from our under 16 squad who seemed very keen on becoming one of our scholars for next season.
This entails making sure the players have their action plans to develop on and off the field and to make sure their education is up to date and all asignments are given 100 % attention to detail.
On the playing front , we have seen the lads improve significantly and although the lads have been unlucky with results we have seen some very good performances - from Michael Ojediran, Sam Koroma, Alfie Day, Albert Gutowski, Taylor Butcher and Russel Chida-Abioro, to name a few.
Following this, we also have two parents evenings coming up in the net ten days and I’m looking forward to meeting them to further establish a 14
THAMESMEAD TOWN The Official Matchday Programme
I am also very pleased with the work first team keeper coach Craig Gibson has been doing with our own
goalkeepers. They are looking sharper and now have a better understanding of their role and responsibility in the team. This week we are away to Ebbsfleet and home to Fulham (Sedgehill)), two very tough matches but the lads are looking forward to them both. We had some matches cancelled due to other teams unavailability, so the lads will be playing two games a week for some weeks up to Christmas.. Finally the lads and I would like to echo the sentiments from elsewhere in the club and pass on our very best wishes to the Chairman for a speedy recovery after his recent operation. FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK
FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK Welcome back to Bayliss Avenue for this game against Heybridge Swifts. Since our last home match against Maidstone united which saw us knocked out of the Kent Senior Cup our form has been inconsistent to say the least, a superb team performance in the FA Trophy against an in form Enfield saw us make it into the 3rd Qualifying round and the challenging visit to Southern League premier outfit Hungerford. You will know the result by the time you read this. We travelled to AFC Sudbury on a cold and wet windy night playing on their new 4G pitch although our performance on the night was well
below what we can achieve I would say the conditions made it possibly the worst game of football I’ve seen there was little football played both sides struggled to cope with strong wind, they managed to score two goals and we didn’t enough said. Another disappointing result at Dereham last week left us pointless from yet another trip into Suffolk, they were never 3 goals better but we must aspire to play to our full potential if we are to kick start our season again. We have slipped well out of the leading pack and need to string some victories together to get back in amongst them. We welcome Lee Prescott from Aveley
and Matt Toms from Enfield who have come into the squad, and we wish Aaron Omand well our number two keeper who has moved to Waltham Abbey to gain regular football. Tonight’s opponents Heybridge will again give us a stern test, they had a shaky start to this season but have since we played them had a change of manger ex-Grays and Welling Manager Jody Brown is now at the helm. We hope they enjoy their brief stay with us but all three points will stay at STC. Enjoy the game.

WELCOME NEW BOYS
Welcome to two recent addition to the squad who have joined since the last edition of The Mead. LEE PRESCOTT is a midfielder who has signed from our Ryman North rivals Aveley and debuted in the recent game at Dereham, whilst central defender MATT TOMS “endured” an eventful debut in Saturday’s FA Trophy defeat at Hungerford. Sadly for Matt, who has joined us from Ryman Premier side Enfield Town, he was shown two yellow cards within his opening 45 minutes of his Mead career. Anyway, belated welcome to you both...
THE MEAD AND FACEBOOK Some may say at long last, the club is moving into the world of FACEBOOK, and in the net edition of The Mead, we hope to be able to let you have full details of the account and where to find it! A reminder that you can find us on “TWITTER” @ThamesmeadTFC - we’ve already got over 2,900 followers; how long we wonder until we break the 3,000 barrier???
MEAD CHRISTMAS PARTY This will be held after our home game with AFC HORNCHURCH on Monday 20th December in the main bar area at the SCT - full details will be posted on the Clubs website in the next week and will be open to all Mead season ticket holders and other supporters who come to the game that night.

FIXTURE NEWS A number of rearranged games to go through. We start with the news that our home game with AFC HORNCHURCH has been confirmed for MONDAY 20th DECEMBER at 7:45pm, and will be the night of the Club’s Christmas Party - more on that in a moment. Our away game at HARLOW TOWN has been rescheduled to now be our first away game of 2016 and will be played on TUESDAY 5th JANUARY at 7:45pm. And finally our home game with MALDON & TIPTREE that was postponed due to our FA Trophy tie at Hungerford on Saturday will now take place on MONDAY 11th JANUARY at 7:45pm.
MEAD MATTERS
BARKINGSIDE’S GIFT A reminder to all Mead fans intending to travel to our away game at BARKINGSIDE next Monday (December 7th) that admission is “pay what you want”! It basically means that if you want to pay one pound you can, although we would “encourage” travelling fans to pay as much as you can to support Barkingside’s fantastic initiative!!! Indeed its an initiative that we’re looking into staging here at the SCT sometime in the future... we’ll keep you posted!
GET WELL SOON Everyone at the club would like to pass get well soon messages onto the following members of the Mead “family”. We were delighted to see the Chairman at Saturday’s FA Trophy tie. A quick reminder that Paul had a serious back operation at the start of the month and has asked us to pass on his thanks to all the messages of good will he’s received. He hopes to be back at the SCT in time for the Christmas party; in the meantime, thanks for the support that you’ve passed on! We’d also like to pass on our love and best wishes to our Man of the Match sponsor Eric Cooper following her recent operation and its great to see you back at the SCT. And to Terry’s Dad. The Mead boss drove himself down to West Berkshire on Saturday and missed out on the coach journey to Hungerford at the weekend as his Dad was taken unwell at the end of last week. Our best wishes to all three for a speedy recovery!
AND FINALLY RICHARD’S A ROYAL Mead fans with a slightly longer memories may remember the name of RICHARD LIBURD - a striker who spent a spell at the SCT on loan from Billericay Town. We’ve had news that Richard has recently made his debut as a professional as a substitute for Reading in their recent Championship game against Cardiff in Wales.
STOP PRESS! Our home game against TILBURY scheduled for Saturday 12th December has been postponed due to the Dockers terrific win over National League South side Bishops Stortford on Saturday. We will confirm the new date when its confirmed on the clubs website and on social media...

MAIDSTONE UNITED Birchall (50), Collin (71)
Monday 9th November 2015 | Kent Senior Cup | Sporting Club Thamesmead |
The Mead bowed out of this season’s Kent Cup to National League South side Maidstone United. A strong blustery wind caused the first error of the evening as Will Thomas was deceived allowing Paul Vines to run down the right on 4 minutes. Vines pulled an early ball into the middle where Theo FairweatherJohnson was on hand to sweep a shot over the Maidstone bar. Apart from this, the visitors dominated the exchanges in the first 20 minutes. Adam Birchall had a shot parried by Arron Omand, with Jack Barry in close attendance to head away from Frannie Collin. From the resulting corner, Steve Watt and Collin both had shots blocked by Marc Gordell and Barry respectively.
20
THAMESMEAD TOWN The Official Matchday Programme
The chance of the half for Maidstone fell to Alex Akrofi on 10, as Watt’s long ball into the wind allowed the pacy forward to find space on the right side of the area, and before anyone in green could react, Akrofi crashed an unstoppable shot off the face of the bar. But the home side took the lead on 22; arguably at the time against the run of play. A long clearing kick from Omand was flicked on by Vines into the path of Fairweather-Johnson who held off Thomas’ challenge and the attentions of the on-rushing Ben Bridle-Card to coolly slide the ball into an empty net. The home side started the second period on the front foot, with Faria Hallam picking up the ball well inside the Maidstone half, but the full-back was always stretching as his
lifted his half-volley over the bar. Maidstone levelled 5 minutes into the half from a corner that Thamesmead failed to clear. The ball was played back in from the right by Collin, through the area to Birchall, who had time to measure a deft shot into the right hand corner. Maidstone sliced through the home side to take the lead two minutes later. Watt’s assured clearance was picked up by Collin deep in his own half. Collin took the ball forward to halfway before playing in Birchall. The opening goalscorer saw that Collin had continued his run and clipped a ball back into his path, with Collin calmly sliding a shot under Omand for 2-1.

Saturday 14th November 2015 | FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round | Queen Elizabeth II Stadium | Att: 270
Goals from Derek Duncan and Paul Vines gave Thamesmead Town arguably their finest ever day in the FA Trophy as Terry Spillane’s saw off Ryman Premier Enfield Town. The Mead’s achievement is put into perspective when its remembered that prior to kick off, home manager Brad Quinton and home keeper Nathan McDonald both received League awards for October – the Manager of the Month and keepers “safe hands” awards respectively. Add to that, Enfield were unbeaten in their previous 12 home games in all competitions, the Mead’s start was even more remarkable as the visitors put their marker down as early as the fifth minute when skipper Del curled in an absolute gem from twenty-five yards out.
The home side did though have loud appeals for a penalty waved away when Corey Whiteley’s shot was cleared off the line by Farai – a clearance that left the home fans and players alike screaming for a spot kick. Referee O’Brien though wasn’t interested and waved the appeals away.
only a last ditch desperate goal line clearance stopped Vinesy from making to 2-0 as his powerful header (from Jay Porter’s pin point cross) was scrambled off of the line!
Whilst the Mead’s attacking options in the first half were limited, Vinesy and Theo Fairweather-Johnson deserve huge credit for the amount of work they got through as the Mead really adopted the mentality of defending from the front.
The Mead saw an Ibrahim Kargbo ripple the side netting as it curled onto the outside of the net from 35 yards, before Vinesy got the goal he so richly deserved and effectively settled the tie with his first goal for the club. Racing onto a fabulous through ball, he outpaced a defender before sling the ball wide of the advancing McDonald and into the net.
The second half began with the Mead looking sharper in forward areas with bit strikers playing their part as the Mead looked capable of adding to their lead every time they went forward. Indeed it was

“After the Lord Mayors show” is a phrase that is often used in football when a disappointing performance follows an outstanding one. And that was sadly the case for the Mead on this particular Tuesday night as they crashed to defeat in the wilds of the Suffolk/Essex border just four days after the clubs stunning FA Trophy victory at Enfield Town. The Mead who had the first chance when Theo Fairweather-Johnson burst through only to be denied by a fantastic low save by home keeper Garnham. At the other end meanwhile, Mead keeper Andy Walker was having all sorts of trouble kicking into the wind, and on one occasion the ball held up so much that Callender wasted

a great chance to open the scoring as defenders recovered to block the AFC’s strikers path to goal – just!
That said the visitors did create three great chances to equalise in the opening period of the half.
Walks then had to be at his brilliant best to deny Blackwell as the home side broke swiftly from a Mead corner, but it only unfortunately delayed the inevitable as the home side too the lead on 32 minutes as Parker scored with a free header from Blackwell’s cross.
The home keeper then excelled again as he made a stunning reflex save to keep out Paul Vines’ header as sub Aaron Jeffrey had battled through down the right. Incredibly the keeper managed to get down and claw the Mead’s centre forward’s header aside as it skidded just in front of him.
Half time couldn’t come quickly enough for the Mead and their beleaguered defenders who in the conditions had done well to keep the home side to just one in the ever worsening conditions.
Buoyed by their keeper’s heroics, the home side began to exploit the space that the ever increasingly desperate Mead was leaving without really testing Walks in the Mead goal. And yet it was Sudbury who sealed their win ten minutes from time. A free kick from wide on the left was headed back across goal by Henshaw for Parker to apply the easiest finish from inside the six yard box.
Sadly after the break the Mead couldn’t create as much possession as the home side had done as the wind incredibly seemed to grow in strength.

Logan (21), Blake-Tracy (35), Tuttle (83 pen)
Saturday 21st November 2015 | Ryman League North | Aldiss Park | Att: 107
The Mead slipped to their biggest defeat of the season in freezing conditions that on the coldest day of the campaign so far as East Anglia was battered by an Arctic blast. All in all though it was a desperately disappointing afternoon for the Mead which in a way summed up the visitors afternoon. Home defender Swatman mis-hit shot which bobbled through to Logan who screwed his shot but got enough on the ball to bobble it past Andy Walker and in off the right post! Logan then almost turned provider as a cross was blown into the path of Borrer who blazed high over despite being free and unmarked at the far post.
Sadly the Mead didn’t heed the warning and just before half time went further behind to arguably the season’s strangest goal. Blake-Tracy took corner from the right with the wind at its coldest and strongest across the pitch into his face. As the corner came into the near post, the ball “died” and somehow found a way between the defender on the post and keeper alike before squirming over the line to double the home side’s lead. Sadly the visitors couldn’t build on these chances and the home side should have been out of sight on 55 minutes when Butcher missed an open goal as the ball found him at the back post only for the Dereham man to hit the side netting with the goal at his mercy!
forward but the closest they got was after Theo Fairweather Johnson got on the end of a Kargbo through ball only to drill the ball across the face of goal. Dereham then sealed the three points with a third goal of the afternoon after Walker brought down a Dereham striker in the box and Tuttle stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way. The Mead were even denied late consolation as sub Aaron Jeffrey managed to squirm through and race clear only to be denied brilliantly by Viner’s block and even when Richard Butler followed up, his chance too was blocked. A frustrating end to a miserable day on the Road for the Mead...

So this is what a League game looks like... Its been five weeks and two days since the Mead last played a home League game, and indeed that long since we played here on a Saturday! So at a time of year when we’re desperate for home games to run and promote things, its been extremely frustrating and now because of Tilbury’s FA trophy win at the weekend, we now face another THREE WEEKS before we return here on a Saturday - December 19th to be precise - which will be EIGHT Saturdays since we last ran our of the SCT at 2:55pm on a Saturday. So having to cancel our “Pudsey Party” was bitterly disappointing to all concerned - ah well maybe next year?!? But we would like to thank everyone who purchased one of special “TTFC / Poppy” pin badges and to BOBBY GRIFFIN for coming up with the idea - as a club we sold over 40 of the badges meaning a decent contribution to the Royal British Legions Poppy Appeal - thank you everyone! And because of the Tilbury postponement, our planned “Youth Day” has had to be postponed until the New Year.
Tonight hopefully sees the start of our NEW YEAR DRAW - with books of five tickets at the price of £1:00 per ticket or £5:00 per book going on sale for the first time TONIGHT with the draw taking place after our first Monday night home game in 2016 on MONDAY 11th JANUARY when we welcome MALDON & TIPTREE to the SCT. We would like to ask anyone who would be able to sell any tickets for us to come and see me at any of our four home games between now and the draw.
19th December when BURY TOWN come to the SCT - what that is however, you’ll have to keep an eye on the club’s website at the end of this week. Thanks for your continued support,

CLEAN SHEET CHALLENGE

CLEAN SHEET TOTAL Following the success of last season’s Clean Sheet Challenge, the club is delighted that once again this season we are seeking your support to raise money for charity, but this year we’re doing it for two charities rather than just one! Last season, Rob Budd and Vicente Mansanet between them kept 14 clean sheets as we raised money for Cancer Research UK – the final total will be revealed soon, and it is worth waiting for! Throughout this season, we’re delighted once again to be working with our friends from Cancer Research, but we will also be raising funds for London’s Air Ambulance, the registered charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to critically injured people in London in a bright red helicopter! We’ll learn more about what the LAA do in an upcoming programme. If you want to contribute - and we hope that you will - we’re in the process of setting up a Just Giving web page for this season, or alternatively there’s always the old fashioned way of filling out the sponsorship form that you’ll find in the boardroom! 34

AWAY DAYS
AWAY
DAYS
The Mead’s next away fixture will be against Brightlingsea Regent on Saturday December 5, 3:00pm kick-off.
GETTING THERE BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT Saturday 5th December Kick-Off: 3:00pm
Thamesmead Town will look to get back to winning ways on the road when they take on Brightlingsea Regent on the 5th December. The Mead have had away day blues since their 2-0 victory over Enfield Town in the FA Trophy. AFC Sudbury, Dereham Town and Hungerford Town have all been losses for the club - more concerning is that fact Thamesmead have failed to score and shipped in eight goals. Brightlingsea Regent sit currently just above the Mead by a point but a win for Thamesmead could see them jump to 11th. And with plenty of games in hand Thamesmead could soon find themselves back amongst the play-off places. This won’t be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination with Regent currently unbeaten in six games in all competitions with their last loss coming against Brentwood Sports in October.
