THE pacione FAMILY
By Greta HonsbergerMeet Jim and Jennifer Pacione, seven-year residents of TerraBella who love the home and life they have built in their charming community. Jim, a Chicago native, serves as the CEO of Wurth Wood Group, while Jennifer, a Baton Rouge native, owns Shading Places, a company specializing in window cover designs.
Making TerraBella their home was serendipitous for the family of four. Jennifer had a longstanding desire to reside in the picturesque neighborhood. Her fondness for the area had grown over the years while working with clients there. She was drawn to its charm and ambiance, reminiscent of Rosemary Beach, a much-loved vacation destination. “I fell in love with the neighborhood’s vibe,” Jennifer shares. “It was so family-friendly, just like Rosemary Beach. I knew TerraBella was where we
belonged.”
Their TerraBella story began while touring a property during the 2016 Parade of Homes, when they noticed a vacant lot. Six months later, Jennifer was driving by and saw a house being built on that lot. “I knew it was going to be mine,” says Jennifer. They purchased that home soon thereafter. Because it was in the later stages of building, they were able to pick the finishes for their new home, and the rest is history.
Their dream home, affectionately dubbed “The Cloud” by friends for its pristine white aesthetic, is a testament to Jennifer’s keen eye for design. She chose the furnishings and decor, and naturally, did all the draperies. The Pacione’s West Indies-style home was featured in the 2017 Parade of Homes for Centanni builders and won best

curb appeal. From hand-picking finishes to orchestrating renovations, Jennifer has infused every corner of their home with warmth and elegance.
The recent transformation of their attic into a cozy retreat is the perfect space, particularly for Jim. “I wanted a place my husband could play his guitar; we could all watch movies in, and also a place [Jim] works when he’s home,” explains Jennifer. The four-month-long renovation turned out great, making it a favorite room for the Paciones. Unlike the rest of their home, Jennifer says, “It’s a totally different vibe than the rest of our house. Dark grey walls, wet bar, large sectional.” The newly renovated attic space underscores the importance of a warm and comfortable place to make family memories and be together. Whether they are lounging by the pool,
Jennifer’s older daughter and Jim’s step daughter, Peyton, is an LSU graduate with a Master’s Degree in Dietetics. She works as a dietician at Northoaks Hospital in Hammond. The youngest Pacione daughter, Hope, is an eighth-grader at St. Scholastica. Her achievements can be found on the track and golf teams. Jim has two older children, stepchildren to Jennifer, who reside out of state. They also have the joy of being grandparents to two grandchildren and are affectionately known as Pops and Gigi. Jim and Jennifer wished they lived closer to their grandchildren despite frequent visits. And there is one more family member who happens to be a Shitzu named Cooper. “Cooper,” says Jennifer, “is spoiled! He gets walked in a stroller.
“I would describe our family as fun!” notes Jennifer. Our home is a happy place to be. Their beloved kitchen is often the scene where they enjoy the tasks of whipping up gumbo or a favorite Italian meal together. “We enjoy k
each others company,” says Jennifer. Finding enjoyment by simply being together is fundamental for this family. As for time away from their dream home, says Jennifer, “ [We are] always planning the next vacation.” It is a safe bet that at the top of their list is a trip to family-loved Rosemary Beach. Closer to home, a night out could include dinner at family - favorite Gallagher’s, or a night in watching movies or entertaining friends.
The Paciones enjoy being a part of the TerraBella community. With close friends nearby and a calendar with events and concerts, they relish the sense of belonging that comes so easily in their neighborhood. They appreciate the friendships they’ve cultivated and enjoy sharing experiences that enrich their lives.
With a home that reflects their style and Jennifer’s impeccable design, the Paciones are living the dream with countless family moments, relaxation, and an appreciation for the community around them.

Riding Towards Hope & Healing NON-PROFIT NEW HEIGHTS THERAPY
For 25 years, New Heights Therapeutic Riding Center has been providing hope and healing to veterans, human trafficking survivors, and adults and children with physical, cognitive, behavioral, and emotional challenges. Since its inception, New Heights’ mission has been simple yet profound: to enhance, enrich, and improve the lives of others through the healing power of the horse.
On over 20 acres of picturesque land in Folsom, New Heights boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including riding trails, a covered arena, and viewing areas for friends and family. What began with just one rider and one horse has become a thriving community of nearly 100 program participants from across the state, supported by a team of dedicated staff and over 100 volunteers.
Recognizing that participants have different needs and goals, the structured therapy programs at New Heights encompass a variety of activities, both mounted and unmounted, aimed at addressing specific physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges. From adaptive riding sessions that focus on building confidence and self-esteem to Hippotherapy, a form of therapy conducted on horseback to provide sensory and motor input, each program is carefully designed to maximize therapeutic benefits.
By their very nature, horses are compassionate animals, making them heroes, but they don’t do their jobs without the loving guidance of instructors. New Heights instructors
undergo a rigorous training program facilitated by PATH International, where they must meet stringent criteria and adhere to established standards of practice within the field. Demonstrating expertise in disabilities, equine behavior, teaching methodologies, and human-animal interactions is vital for effective performance as a therapeutic riding instructor.
The impact of New Heights’ programs is best captured in the stories of individuals who have found reassurance and empowerment in the saddle. One example is a young lady born with Cerebral Palsy who experiences newfound freedom from pain and a sense of pride during her adaptive riding lessons. Another example is an individual who faces the challenges of Pseudohypoparathyroidism. For this person, riding and connecting with the horse builds on self-esteem that is nurtured and strengthened at every visit.
Volunteers play a crucial role in New Heights’ mission. Their dedication and support enable the program to expand and continue making a difference in the lives of those they serve. Opportunities to volunteer are ample, from leading horses during lessons to assisting with special events.
As New Heights embarks on its next chapter, the message to the community is clear: this is a place where miracles happen, barriers are broken, and the healing journey begins. Whether through participation, volunteering, or simply visiting to witness the magic firsthand, everyone has a role in New Heights’ remarkable story.

Spring into Success: 5 Essential Real Estate Tips for the Season
As the vibrant colors of spring start to blossom, so does the real estate market. The arrival of warmer weather often marks an upswing in real estate activity, making it an ideal time for buyers and sellers to make their moves. Here are five essential real estate tips to help you successfully navigate the bustling spring market to make this season your most fruitful.
1. Curb Appeal Matters More Than Ever: Spring is the season of blooming flowers and lush greenery, and homes with attractive exteriors draw more buyers. A well-manicured lawn and a welcoming entryway create a positive first impression, setting the stage for a successful showing. Enhance your property’s curb appeal by landscaping, planting colorful flowers, and ensuring a well-maintained exterior.
2. Showcase Springtime Indoors: Bring the spirit of spring indoors by staging your home with seasonal decor. Consider incorporating fresh flowers, pastel-colored accents, and light, airy fabrics to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Buyers often respond positively to a well-staged home, and a touch of spring can make your property stand out in their minds.
3. Flexible Pricing Strategies: With increased competition in the spring, it’s crucial to be strategic with your pricing. While demand may be high, be mindful of setting a realistic and competitive asking price. Consider consulting with a local real estate professional to analyze market trends and determine the most effective pricing strategy for your specific area. Flexibility in pricing can attract a broader range of potential buyers.
4. Schedule Spring Cleaning and Repairs: Before listing your property, undertake a thorough spring cleaning to ensure your home is in top condition. Address any necessary repairs or maintenance issues that may have arisen during the winter months. A well-maintained home signals buyers that you’ve taken care of the property, instilling confidence in their decision to consider your home.
5. Take Advantage of Longer Days: Longer daylight hours in spring mean more time for property viewings. Maximize the use of natural light by scheduling showings during the day, allowing potential buyers to experience the full beauty of your home.
Embrace spring’s renewal for a successful real estate experience. Focus on curb appeal, staging, pricing, maintenance, and timing to position your property effectively

GROOMING: Dr. Maher With Maher Animal Hospital
Regular grooming is essential to keeping your furry friend looking and feeling their best. Maintaining a consistent grooming routine keeps your pup looking fresh and contributes to its overall well-being. So, whether your dog is a fluffy ball of fur or a sleek, short-haired cutie, regular grooming is key to keeping it happy and healthy. Here are some simple guidelines on grooming to consider.
BEFORE AND AFTER
FOR LONG-HAIR DOGS:
• For dogs with long, thick, or curly coats, it’s recommended to stick to a grooming schedule every 4-6 weeks. This will help prevent matting, keep their coat healthy, and ensure they stay comfortable.
• Brushing the coat regularly between groomings, at least once a week is key to preventing tangles and mats.
• When brushing your dogs, pay extra attention to friction-prone areas such as behind the ears, under the arm pits, under the tail, and around the feet. Start using a slicker brush to remove any loose hair and tangles, then follow up with a metal comb to ensure you reach the skin all the way down.
FOR SHORT-HAIR DOGS:
• Short-haired dogs can benefit from a bath, nail trim, and ear cleaning about once a month.
At Maher Animal Hospital we are able to provide lightly-sedated Cat Trims and offer a “Bath and Blowout” in between grooming appointments.
THE stringer family pet
Miss Hazel Grace
Hazel Grace is the little dynamo who brings boundless joy and entertainment to the Stringer family. Named after the beloved TV character from the 1960s sitcom Hazel, Hazel is a miniature long-haired dapple dachshund who turned three on January 3rd. However, the treasured and sassy family member has ruled the Stringer household since February 2021.
Hazel is the Stringers’ fifth dachshund, chosen after their last one unexpectedly passed away. Recommended by friends, she came from a litter in Tickfaw and joined the Stringer family on the same day as their third dachshund, a delightful coincidence.
When Susan went to pick up Hazel, her tiny size surprised her; she could easily fit in the palm of her hand. Although she is a tiny little girl, don’t let her small stature misrepresent who Miss Hazel Grace truly is. She is feisty in the best possible way, adding entertainment and charm to the Stringer family.
Though tiny, Hazel is BIG in personality. Some might say she is curious, while others would say she is downright nosey. As such, she has earned the nickname “Mrs. Kravitz” after the nosey neighbor from another 1960s sitcom, Bewitched, for her curious and vigilant demeanor. Whether she’s perched on the back of the couch, surveying the neighborhood through the windows, or snuggled under blankets with her favorite pink furry bone, Hazel’s playful antics bring laughter and smiles to everyone around her.
Known for her discerning palate, Hazel delights in treats such as the occasional scoop of Blue Bell Ice Cream. As for her sense of style, she enjoys wearing tutus, even donning a special cupcakeappliqued one for a birthday party.
When Hazel sees her favorite neighbors, says Susan, “If she is on her leash walking and sees them, she starts wagging her tail 90 miles an hour and runs as fast as her little legs can take her to get hugs and kisses from them.” She eagerly awaits her neighborhood strolls for cuddles and kisses and thrives on love and attention, giving and receiving it.
For the Stringers, Hazel Grace isn’t just a pet; she’s a source of unconditional love and amusement. Whether welcoming Susan’s students to tutoring sessions or basking in the attention of her adoring family, Hazel’s presence brings immeasurable joy to all who know her. As the wee little Hazel reigns supreme in the Stringer household, she remains the heart and soul of their TerraBella home.
CLOSETs BY DESIGN
Business Spotlight
Scott and Caryn McDougal, owners of Closets by Design of Southeast Louisiana, credit their team with the great success of their interior design and manufacturing business. For forty years nationally and twenty years in Southeast Louisiana, the company has designed, sold, manufactured, and installed custom closets, pantries, garage systems, offices, and more.
Taking pride in designing phenomenal spaces from their clients’ visions, the Closets by Design team then takes the vision concept and develops it as they go through each step. “Our design department will have a consultation with the customer to capture their perfect space truly,” says McDougal.
Creating the perfect space to their client’s liking is paramount to the Closets by Design team. “Each project is meticulously designed for a particular space, then checked in-house for proper design and measurements, and then manufactured and installed accordingly,” McDougal says. “The process generally takes four to five weeks from beginning to end.”
Starting with a vision and ending in a masterpiece is standard for Closets by Design. For each project, whether creating a walk-in closet, a media center, or a hobby room,
the design and execution are straightforward while maintaining the client’s vision. From there, the manufacturing department checks the plan, ensures that the idea fits within the given space, and then manufactures all necessary pieces.
When each piece is complete and double-checked for quality, the installation begins. At this point, the expert, experienced installation team goes on-site to make the dream come to fruition. The result of the painstaking process is a space that is as beautiful as it is functional.
Scott emphasizes, “Our mission is to exceed our customer’s expectations by providing exceptional service with a quality product. We stand behind this mission every day.” The folks at Closets by Design recognize that their success and the client’s satisfaction rests with the many people who make the team the best in the business. Scott summarizes this best: “It’s our people that make the difference. If you do business with us, you will quickly see we have the best people.”
The experts at Closets by Design will transform your space into an organized and orderly haven, bringing your dream space to life and streamlining your daily routine.

Benefits of Partnering with a Landscaping Company During the Design Phase
There are several advantages to contacting a landscaping company to work with your architect and builder during the design phase of your custom home. Here is a short yet comprehensive list of those advantages.
Landscape design companies are well-versed in addressing environmental issues that can occur during the clearing and building process of new home construction. Some of those items they can address are as follows:
• Soil Quality
• Water Management
• Chemical Contamination
• Energy Consumption
Managing construction permits can be challenging, but partnering with a landscape company in the design phase can make this less of a hassle, as they can better manage your construction permits.
Their expertise includes:
• Navigating regulations
• Preparing permit applications
• Creating compliant designs
Landscape companies are well-equipped to manage construction permits effectively, making the process for all involved go smoother. Another advantage of partnering with a landscape design company is that they can offer guidance on combining indoor and outdoor living spaces. While many homeowners focus on maximizing indoor spaces, you shouldn’t overlook the exterior. A landscaper can help you make the most of your outdoor spaces if you bring them in on the project in the early phases.
Max Hand
Archbishop Hannan High School 8th grader and Terra Bella resident Max Hand is a young man passionate about sports and entrepreneurship.
As an incoming 8th grader with experience and love for football, Max’s decision to join the Hannan football team was fueled by his love for the game and the camaraderie it brings. His first season as a Hawk was all he hoped it would be, including treasured memories. Playing against rival team Chalmette High School was one game that holds a special memory for Max. Recalling this game with pride, he says. “We were playing their upperclassmen, and I feel like I performed well as an 8th grader.” With a great first season behind him, Max is proud of what he and his team accomplished.
Not one to sit idle until the next football season and encouraged by his football coach, Max ventured into powerlifting during the offseason. With powerlifting, he discovered a newfound thrill in lifting weights and the individual challenge it presents. Despite being the only 8th grader on the powerlifting team, Max’s dedication and hard work propelled him forward, confirming his determination to excel in both sports.
Beyond athletics, Max is a young man with a big heart and an altruistic spirit. Hannan’s G.R.A.C.E. program was established to meet the needs of diverse learners with mild/moderate disabilities. One way this is accomplished is through Hawk Buddies. Hawk Buddies are students assigned to assist the GRACE students in different areas, including helping them forge meaningful connections and friendships. Max became a Hawk Buddy this year and has enjoyed working with the GRACE students. He says about this experience, “It makes me very happy, and I have made some great friends.”
In addition to his other commitments, Max is an entrepreneur. His entrepreneurial spirit was ignited three years ago when he stumbled upon a pair of coveted sneakers, sparking a passion that led him to sell sneakers online and at local events. He hopes to continue pursuing this passion, aiming to be a sneaker reseller and own multiple sneaker resell stores. Max’s sneaker business is called Nola Kicks, and his Instagram account is nolakicksla.
With his drive, compassion, and determination, Max Hand is poised to make a lasting impact both on and off the field.
