CHARLENE CORBIN FOR SECRETARY

JCI Mission

“To provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.”

Biography Hello ALL!  My name is Charlene Corbin and I am campaigning to be elected as the 2015 JCI Secretary. This organization has impacted my life so much even for the few months that I’ve been involved with JCI and I’m very thankful to be part of a great organization. So here’s a little bit about me: I am a twenty-one years old final year student at the University of West Indies Cave Hill Campus. I’m currently pursuing a BSc. in Management with International Business with a GPA of 3.34. I previously attended Harrison College as well as a Study Abroad Program at Rutgers University in New Jersey. I have participated in various clubs such as Key Club, Peace Ambassadors and Circle K and also participated in different activities such as Dance and playing the Violin up to a Grade 5 level. In these various activities, I have won several awards, held different positions in these activities and assisted in several service and fundraising projects. I have a passion for volunteering and helping people, exploring, trying new activities and cooking. I’m also learning Spanish and Portuguese.

JCI Journey

Here I am with fellow Jaycees Briggette and Julica (The Dynamic Trio) at the Project Me Workshop. This was the first time we got involved in an JCI activity.

My journey in JCI began with Project Me. I attended the workshop in October and through some research, I gained interest in the organization. Upon expressing such interest to President Abena and VP Internal Khaleid, I was accepted to join the organisation and enrolled a few weeks after. Since then, I have been an active member in my short time in JCI so far. I volunteered at the Special Day for Special Children event, participated in JCI training sessions and as of November I would have assisted with the hosting of the Global Entrepreneurship Week event: Living the Lifestyle as I am on the committee.

JCI SECRETARY What it means to me‌ Becoming secretary would outwardly show how JCI has impacted me. JCI has allowed me to gain more confidence in myself especially in regards to public speaking, opened my eyes to different service events and activities and has also empowered me to become an active citizen. Becoming JCI Secretary would allow me to in turn contribute more to the organization and hopefully I will be able to impact another individual in the future.
