The Concept The green roots concept is outlined below:
Our Global Impact Junior Chamber International Barbados (“JCI Barbados”) is the local affiliate of Junior Chamber International (“JCI”), a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs, with over 200,000 members in over 100 countries who share a mission to create positive change in their communities.
Green Roots The Green Roots Project is an initiative seeking to educate the citizens of Barbados about their history and build awareness of the need to make Barbados a better place to live and do business. In addition to our quest to bring a greater sense of awareness to the environmental conservation and physical protection of our heritage, our overall goal is to empower persons of all walks of life to ensure the sustainability of the physical and intangible aspects that make Barbados special.
Green - highlights our environmental focus. Our aim is to educate the nation on the benefits of preserving our environment and promoting sustainable solutions which will benefit our community today and in the future!
Vision: To be the leading global network of young active citizens.
Mission: To provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.
Roots - reflects our heritage. It gives much needed information on our intangible environment; our culture… our history. This aspect of the project will also seek to incorporate and highlight persons who are involved in promoting our culture; artists, writers, performers etc. It sets aside events such as historic walks and hikes which will inspire participants to be more knowledgeable and aware of historical significance of monuments and structures which paved the way for the Barbados we know today!
Getting Involved Our special focus on our corporate sponsors means that the message we deliver can be twofold: One which encourages a greener community more aware of its roots, and one that highlights companies that care.
