Teachers put “the three Rs” on hold temporarily while students got some “real world” lessons as part of the annual Career Day. One Career Day highlight was a presentation by parent Laura Schoeller, a jockey at Gulfstream Park racetrack in Hallandale Beach. Schoeller dressed in silks, showed a video of one of her races and demonstrated some moves on her training apparatus.
Hollywood Gazette’s general manager Jennifer Sandomir and administrative director Barbara Pellicano gave a presentation about the media to second- and third-graders. The students received their own personalized press passes and became “journalists for a day.” CAREERDAYcont.onpg.34
