he Grey Area: Dating and Race – Is it Racism or a Preference. Recently I was engaged in a strong debate with a good friend of mine. He stated that he only prefers to date within his race – Black (using the term “Black” in the general sense). Interestingly enough, I just had another discussion with someone else who stated that he, although Black, don’t like to date Black people and only date White individuals. They both said the same thing: “It’s just my preference.” But is it really? I tend to disagree. In this hypersensitive culture, I find that all too often racism lurks and is the foundation for a lot of belief systems. Simply put, by stating that you would or would not date someone, solely because of that person’s race, to me is not a preference, but racist. We all discriminate – true (I like blue/green over yellow, I rather read than watch a movie, prefer bright colors to dark ones…). But I can honestly say that when it comes

to dating, I have not categorically ruled out an entire ethnic group. A preference to me is to say, “if I had to choose, my racial preference would be dating someone –Black, Asian, White, Hispanic, Native American….. and so on, in that order.” Here, there is a real preference because you have a “greater liking for one alternative over another or others” (the definition of “preference”). The key to

a “preference” is the existence of “alternatives.” When you categorically state that you would never date outside your race or would only date a specific race, you have completely eliminated the other alternatives. By its very definition and by your actions, it is no longer a “preference” but racial discrimination. Don’t believe me, ask the person why they will or won’t date a person of a specific ethnic category and you

will hear the following (or a variation thereof): “blacks are too aggressive, loud, conceited, ghetto, uneducated or not attractive;” “asians are dirty, messy, rude, loud, conservative, not progressive enough, stick to their own-kind, or ignorant;” “whites are messy, smell like their dogs, have bad breathe, self-entitled;” or “hispanics are nasty, will sleep with anyone, rude, uneducated, uncircumcised..” and so on and so on. I won’t even mention Arabs (i.e. terrorists).. All of these so-called justifications are nothing more than racist ideologically wrapped in a more politically correct package. But it is racist nonetheless.

pelle's Return To Comedy. IAMU Urban: What is your city like musically? DJ Locnez: Dayton, Ohio is filled with talented and gifted indidvidual's. The talent music wise ranges from hip-hop to jazz, forward onto rock, back to Rhytem and Blues and all kind's of Rap style's. If, I was an A and R from a majior record label, Dayton Ohio would be a definate stop. IAMU Urban:When did you fall in love with Hip-Hop Culture? DJ Locnez: I first fell in love with hip-hop when I was in the sixth grade. You can go threw and visit my elementary school, and see my graduating class picture. In the picture you can clearly see the tallest white kid wearing a MC Hammer U Can't Touch This Black tshirt, that's when the love for hip-hop culture grew passionately withen my heart as well as my soul. IAMU Urban: Who were some of your Biggest Insperations growing up? DJ Locnez: Number Uno,God faith is the code I live and stand by. Second y blessed Mother, she would sacrifice anything and everything she had just to put a smile on her children's faces. Last, but never forgotten my insperation's were and still are Bj

Testerman, he taught me how to rap rest in heaven I'll see you when I get there. Talon Kieser, that man taught me how to tell a story while painting a clear picture when I rapped, please save a seat in heaven for me. Curtis Ramsey, now that man taught me how to be myself, and keep my faith. Words can never express how grateful I am to all these wonderful indidvidual's, thank you so much. IAMU Urban: Do you think Hip-Hop is dead because of the new Rap Culture? DJ Locnez: Hip-Hop mainstream maybe dead to some, and to other's it's not. The way I view it is it's like this close your eyes, can you take a picture, in your mind you can but physically you can't. So one saying hip-hop is dead is a clear picture without it's moment in time. Time captured with en a moment bleed's the heart of my true love hip-hop forever lives. IAMU Urban: How do you feel about the new artist's coming up in the game? DJ Locnez: I defenitly will tip my hat off to a chosen few. Let's go through these chosen few. It start's off with Yelawolf, which has a powerful energetic deep delivery. Big Krit, which carries an inspirational, spiritual, energetic, soulful way of delivery. Next, Freddie Gibbs hold's onto a deep, soothing, energetic, leadership way of bringing his delivery into a whole package. IAMU Urban: How does an artist get on one of your mixtape's? There is what we here at Locnez Promotions like to call a prescreening of each artist. We look forward to the passion that one has for this music. Three step process inside the prescreening, first we listen, than we research, last we discuss and decide on rather or not to take this person on as a client. IAMU Urban: As a dj, do you think the mixtape marketing game is over sauterated? If so why? DJ Locnez: As a Dj the demand for a mixtape is becoming less and less significant. The importance to an artist is solidified solely by the artist and their fan base. The market for mix tape’s being over saturated only depends on who you are asking. To me the answer would be not yet,but getting close. IAMU Urban: I know this comes with the territory, but how often are you approached by the Lame MC? DJ Locnez: Surprisingly not very often, but every once in awhile you might occasionally run into individual’s that think they can rhyme,

,Shawn,Sky,Hipp,Josh Day..... all of you are the reason why I chase my dream. Special love and thank's goes out to my second family, my second dad John S, my second mom Christie S, my two sister's I never had Ciera and IAMU Urban: Do you have any Joanna, my second brother shout out's? Tyler S (word) all of you have DJ Locnez: First and foremost is really shown me how to believe God, I really feel that I would not in myself and keep my faith be here if my faith wasn't with in God and everything elese me. Thank you all of you at IAMU will fall into place. To all my Magazine for blessing me with the chance to tell my story. Next, is my hater's as well as my fan's I will keep pushing along as long as team the Dynamyte Duo made up the good Lord up above keep's of Alisha Lange and Keisha of The Heat Spinner's Dj Coalition. Than, pumpin life into my body. I I need to defenitly thank Thrax, and take it one day at a time and that's all we can do. I love you J-Nibb for thier everyday encouragement to stay strong and keep my all God Bless.... Dj Locnez faith. While, I want to personally thank my blessed mother, my best friend threw thick and thin she has helped me stay so strong during all the trial's and tribulation's in life. Thank's go out to my people in my city.. Hub,Jeff,Chelese,Adam,Ernie and they strongly believe that they can, but they can't. I believe there are way to many lame mc's now that somehow slipped threw the crack's of the industry, it's horrible on the ear's, trust me.

in 1994, every politician is now afraid of the NRA. President Bush reversed the ban on asGlobal Grind.com sault weapons and President Obama has not touched the subject. million dollars. The safety of our schools, our streets, our homes, our movie theaters, is being controlled by those who cling to their guns, their assault weapons and their weapons of war. They don’t intimidate me, so I will speak my piece, as I am a man of peace. Let me break down two highprofile shootings. The gunman in the Gabrielle Giffords shooting in Arizona used a 9 mm handgun, killing six and injuring fourteen. The shooter had a thirty bullet magazine with one in the chamber and was able to get off 31 shots. It was during a moment when he had to re-load his weapon that 61-year-old Patricia Maisch wrestled him to the ground and stopped the massacre. Contrary, the shooter in the Aurora Theater shooting had a AR-15 semi-automatic assault weapon with a 100 round drum, along with two hand-guns and a rifle. He had bought 6000 rounds of ammo and loaded up on body armor, all of which he bought legally

on the internet. The AR-15 has the capability of shooting 50-60 bullets per minute that would pierce through a steel door. The shooter killed 12 people and injured 58 before his gun jammed. The two police officers who first arrived on the scene would have been out-powered by the shooter, as all they had were handguns and shotguns. Their lives were potentially saved by a jammed weapon. Both incidents were horrific. Both incidents should never have happened. But in the case of Aurora, the shooter was able to injure or kill 50 more people than the shooter in Arizona (and he was shooting in the dark compared to broad daylight). So, it is difficult for me to swallow the argument that if we ban assault weapons, people will just find a way to continue killing at the alarming numbers they do now. We might have saved multiple lives and stopped the injury of dozens of others if the shooter in Colorado didn’t use the weapon of his choice. When anyone dies from senseless violence in this country, I will raise my voice of support for tougher gun laws. In one year, guns murdered 35 in Australia, 39 in England, 60 in Spain, 194 in Germany, 200 in Canada & 9,484 in USA. It is unfathomable to me that the only time this country or the media wants to broach the subject is when there are mass shootings, and most of the victims are white. Well, I hate to break the news to you, but there are mass shootings in Chicago every weekend.

There are mass shootings in New York City every weekend. There are mass shootings in Los Angeles every weekend. EVERY 39 MINUTES, A BLACK CHILD OR TEENAGER IS SHOT IN AMERICA, AND THE MEDIA DOESN’T MENTION IT AND EVERYONE ELSE KEEPS IT MOVING. And we only want to mention the word “gun reform” when white people are killed? My heart is heavy for the victims in Colorado, but I can’t be silent because every politician in Washington and around this country is afraid of the NRA. No other country in the civilized world allows this to happen. Only in the land of the free, where politicians can be legally bribed and our democracy is for sale, do citizens have access to weapons of war. Well, I’m not a politician, so the NRA can’t silence me and they certainly ain’t gonna punk me! The time has come for our nation to face the National Rifle Association and its bullying-tactics. There is no way that our forefathers envisioned twelve innocent people lying dead on the floor of a movie theater when they wrote the Second Amendment. They didn’t even know what an assault weapon was or what urban communities would become. A man walks into a movie theater dressed as “The Joker” from Batman and shoots seventy people, and how do we respond? We ban people from wearing costumes!?!?! How about we address the real problem by banning weapons of war, so we never deny the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for another innocent American again. -Russell Simmons

old, Innovative, Straight to the Point, is just a few adjectives that describe Da Ladie. Coming from Memphis Tennessee as a familiar but new sound to some, Da Ladie owns up to the title of Queen. Artist, C.E.O of Royal Hustlaz Entertainment, Mother, and Wife are titles she holds with pride. With triumphs over trials in her personal life and career Da Ladie is definitely an artist you want to pay attention to. Refusing to conform to the pressures of the rap industry Da Ladie calls her music “Real Life Music”. She is known for writing songs the streets and your everyday woman can relate to. She says, “I refuse to write music for attention or money. I write what I feel and if it generates attention and revenue I’m all for it.” Receiving her start in high school, taken her poetry she previously wrote and turning them into rhymes she developed a passion that still is alive today. After trying to compose group after group failed, Da Ladie made the decision to become a solo artist. Throughout the years she has received numerous recognitions for her talent. She became the host of a local television show in Memphis called Street Scenes, won the 1st ever Knoc Down Entertainment award for Female Rap Artist of the Year, nominated Mixtape Artist of the Year, and Slept on Female Artist of the year at the Southern Entertainment Awards

two years in a row, nominated Female Artist of the Year at the 1st Tennessee Music Awards, and also won a competition at the awards weekend for best performance with her group Royal Hustlaz. Tragedy struck late 2010 when her mother, her only parent living, became gravely ill. She passed 2011. Da Ladie decided to take a backset to the game and reflect on her life. Putting everything into perspective instead of continuing on the same path she decided to put her success in her own hands. She is now a student at Full Sail University majoring in Music Business. Adding student to her many roles she is also working on her 4th project “Back At It” to be hosted by Dj LW of Quality Street Music. Her long-term goal is to always create music her fans can relate to and live out her dreams as an artist and entrepreneur by her own standards, no one else’s! lbert Aduratomi Olumorin is known as an artist under the name : Culsun (Coolest Under the Sun) born in Lagos, Nigeria, September 3, 1991. currently living in Europe. It all started when he was 16 but growing up he developed his own style, doing things in his own way. He was known for always having the headphones on, no matter what he was doing. His style is hip hop/rap with a lil chilled vibe, linking his lyrics to his lifestyle, to the struggle to get to where he wanna be, believing in himself no matter what people say made him work harder and harder, making him unbreakable. Culsun as a person with an open mind won't stick only to one genre, he likes working with different types of music so his fans will be able to see his style with different influences. Also he is into collaborations, so you will be able to hear songs with various artists. He is looking up to artists like: Kanye West, Eminem, Jay z, 50 Cent, but his biggest influence is a Nigerian rapper called MI(Mr Incredible), that made him start working in the music industry. Culsun's upcoming projects are: "Diamond under the dirt" mixtape on July 20 2012.The mixtape promisses to be a cool one, you can't expect less from the Coolest under the sun. The songs are for eveybody, anyone can relate to them. „Let's go" is one of the tracks you'd like to hear in a club and will get you on the dance floor. Also two more albums will come out later this year, one of

them will feature DJ Prince. Besides being an artist he is getting more and more into the production sector taking advantage of his skills : playing the piano and the hand drum. Lend him your ears and you won't regret it, make sure you’ll be on the look out, he's always coming with something new. IAMU: Hello how are you? Culsun: Hey! Fine thank you. How are you?
