The Time of Our Lives in Spain
“From Sunday 26th March to Saturday 1st April, pupils taking Spanish in Year 9 had the opportunity to visit Valencia and we had the time of our lives. From fun lessons and authentic Spanish food to some amazing excursions, we enjoyed every minute of our trip. While having a good time, we also experienced city life in a different country, and we enjoyed being immersed in their culture and experiencing it first-hand.
Each of us stayed with a host family, with whom we had the opportunity to enjoy Spanish home life. The host families helped us to improve our communication skills in Spanish. It was helpful to learn how to communicate with a native speaker. We also had traditional Spanish dinners with our host families and ate Spanish foods such as bocadillos and paella.
From Monday to Thursday, we had language lessons at Taronja Spanish School. These were unlike ordinary lessons as we were able to interact with the locals and learn about the history of Valencia, as well as learn some more Spanish.
The best part about the trip was the exciting excursions. Every day, we were able to visit a famous place in Valencia. These places were the old town, the Oceanogràfic aquarium, Mestalla Stadium – Valencia CF’s home ground – the beach, and Port Aventura theme park. We had a great time visiting different monuments and exploring the old town. Also, seeing all the aquatic life at the aquarium was amazing. The main highlight of the trip was Port Adventura theme park where we went on thrilling roller coasters.
I would highly recommend this trip to all pupils as it was an amazing opportunity to visit a new country and visit all the main attractions as well as improving our Spanish language skills. We had an amazing time in Valencia, and it will be a trip that we will never forget. A big thank you to the teachers for making this trip possible.” n
