Athletics

Athletics remains a popular sport at John Lyon, with over 40 pupils participating in cross country and track and field events during the academic year.

Following their excellent performances in the South-East Schools Championships at the end of the spring term, pupils started the summer track and field season in good form, with 30 pupils performing well at the Harrow Borough Track and Field Championships. In addition to the Borough Championships, pupils also participated in the Harrow Borough Athletics League, with notable performances from Alex (9WA) in shot put and discus, Billy (9AHJ) in 800m and Paaran (9AHJ) in 100m, helping the Year 9 team to victory within the Year 9 competition. It was also pleasing to see the girls’ team continue to perform well, with Sophia (7CCG), Sierra-Rose (7CCG), Laksha (7CJC) and Erin (7JEB) representing the School superbly against some strong opposition. n
