CONCEPT
TARGET AUDIENCE
TONE OF VOCIE
Off the Grid is a publication that documents individuals and communities living sustainable lifestyles outside of mainstream society. Often undocumented, the fascinating culture creates interest amongst people both interested in living more sustainably, but also amongst those intrigued by their lifestyle, evidencing the foundation of potential reads that could exist if the outcome was funded.
Members of the primary audience are people who have an appreciation for the earth, an interest in sustainability and a taste for adventure. They spend their days growing their own produce or are looking for ways that they can implement aspects of a sustainable lifestyle. Although members of the audience do not actually live off the grid, like the people featured in the magazine, they are interested in the culture and the associated lifestyle.
The publication would take a gonzo documentary style approach to articles, thereofre journalists working for the magazine would immerse themselves in the culture and get to know their subjects before writing the story and taking images, ensuring the tone of voice is professional and free from the claims of objectivity.

Production
MASTHEAD After creating a concept for the publication the work load was divided up evenly amongst the members of the group. I was given the task of creating the masthead for the publication, which I decided to develop by hand as a visual reference to the lifestyle lived by people featured in the publication itself.
