The cA.nnual Junior cpromenade Studenl-hody event!; hJw been numerous during the past y 路ar hut the annual Junior Promenade, give in honor of the cle11arting Seniors, ~as the climax of the sea on's ocials. Arr;l11gements were carefully made and executed. A great deal of th' credit is clue the class of '30 as we].! as the Prom Committee for the success of the ball. The scene of this triking party was exceptional even in comparison with the brilliant Proms of other year . Masse of wistaria, roes, and vines, brightened by a nov'l mo<Jil1light scheme made it a typical I lawaiian night.

The forensic art has not yet assumed prominence as a school actiVIty at Jordan . Despite this disadvantage the y 路ar 1929 saw the deve lopment of real talent in debate. onsiderable interest on the part of the few. but serious-minded, candidates for the state dehat ing team was manifest. This, together with a number of practice debates, succeeded in p!.acing in the field a team or which Jordan might well be proud. The state question this year was, Resolved , that: "Modern Advertising Should Be Condemned." The affirmative argument was ably upheld by Duane Ballard Draper and by Carmen Cropper of Midvale, with George Becl of Drap r as alternate. The negative team was well repr'sented by Silvion 1-:dg I of South Jordan . and Glenn Clegg of Sandy. with Foster Greenwood of East Midvale as alternate and debating manager. A number of practice debates were held , previous to the state schcdul >, with the following schools: Granite, Murray. l avis. Cypress and Grantsville.

Football On September 6, fifty men an!:>wered the call of Coach Foxley for fo10tball candidates. Among these were ten lettermen of the previous year. A J.arge number of second and third team men were available. W'ith such material and with the new campu , prospects looked ike a success ful sea~o n . jordan won her first pre -sca•Otn gam(' with Ogden, 3H to 7. Due to sickness and injurie:-,, Jordan was hit hard . Bateman, Andcr_on , Finlayson and W. Smith were lost to the squad during the regular season. Besides thi blow, Mathews and Brady were injured . This weakened th team so mewhat as the personnel had to be changed from time to time ; but the team was far from being disheartened, though they fini shed the seaso n with one victory and four d feat s. East. West. Granite, and Provo defeated Jordan . The lketdigg ·rs downed the Davis grqup, and the strong Ogden team early in th • season . J
