Her gentle smile and friendly character were present throughout the photoshoot, creating an easygoing atmosphere, but don’t forget that she is a successful businesswoman. Because of the high quality of NCLA, which developed with her younger sister, celebrities have quickly became their fans, leading them to become a big brand. Recently, they developed nail apps, and collaborated with Disney on new products. As the entrepreneur that brought the new wave of DIY nails to the industry, her story of work hard, play hard, and beauty “hard” is a modern day Cinderella story in California.

Tell us what you love about LA. How do you spend your spare time? I love living in LA. There are so many fun events to go to! I spend my spare time at the beach with my dog and I also love trying new restaurants and lounges with my girlfriends.

What is NCLA? Where the name of “NCLA” come from? and what made you start the nail business? NCLA stands for Nail Couture LA. I thought that there was a hole in the market for fun DYI nail art at home and this is when our team came out with nail wraps and the rest is history! We have over 400 skus now with nail wraps, polishes, treatments, accessories and our pro gel line.

What are some of the achievements and difficulties you face at work? We sometimes face delivery issues, production issues which are difficulties we face day to day. We also have to jump on trends before they happen and this requires us to follow our gut instincts and keeping extremely close with any upcoming trends.

The interview took place on a hot, summer like-day in autumn in Hollywood. GENKING, our interviewee today, has a beautiful face and slender body. On our visit during her film shoot in Hollywood, we asked her about her beauty secrets as well as her future plans. “I love LA; there are many other cities, but LA definitely tops my list!,” she said. “Even when I’m feeling down, once I arrive here it brightens up my life.” Just as she said, LA is the kind of city where she feels “alive.” In contrast to Tokyo, where gender identity can be treated as “comedy” in certain TV shows, in LA it is considered a character. It’s a simple composition in LA where one can pursue whatever dreams and gender choices they want. Also, she has many friends here that are good influences for her. She is referred to as a “beautician,” with her high sense of beauty, and who GENKING sees as a “beautiful person” is someone who cares for their beauty all the time. “It sucks to think ‘I’m not pretty today,’ which makes you not want to go out, but if you feel the opposite, then you would like to. At any time, I would like to feel the latter when I look myself in the mirror.” For her being beautiful also means to have energy.

Starting with Instagram, we see her work everywhere from TV shows, to magazines and movies. When we asked her what was the key to her success, she answered, being light footed and able to work quickly. Watching the students from abroad in LA reminds her of what she used to be before joining the entertainment industry. In LA, she notices so many people casually compliment what you’re wearing, for example a nice dress. If you want to be successful “You should go out there, wear your style and be complimented!” From that simple conversation, you can connect to your career or opportunities. There are some that study here who find success, and and some who don’t. The difference is that the one who succeeds is being light hearted and attracts others. First, you have to initiate curiosity in others to make them want to talk to you, or nothing happens in this city.

She prefers to have options when it comes to her career, where she resides and her fashion. We’re sure she will be delivering us surprises and happiness in the future.

Born in Tokyo. Appeared in many beauty pageants during her college years as well both magazine and show models. Since 2013, she has resided in LA with her husband and started her career as travel blogger. Her blog, with information on travel, as well as food and fashion from LA, has attracted fans from around the world.

LA is in the midst of huge matcha craze. It’s impossible to live without seeing the word “matcha.” This very special matcha cafe has beauty and health as their theme and is loved by celebrities. As the name SHUHARI implies, their concept is to protect the Japanese tradition and promote new styles. When you enter the cafe, there are kettles for Japanese tea ceremonies and there are teapots and teacups for sale, so you can directly feel the Japanese culture. There is open air seating where you can see people walk by on the trendy street, and inside the store they have seating in a bamboo like garden setting. There I tried the Matcha & Azuki parfait, which has the rich taste of matcha ice cream and fragrant Azuki ice cream along with citrusy dry fruit toppings. SPORTS In the summer’s heat of July 29th, Kei Nishikori, ranked No.9 in the world in men’s tennis, teamed up with his coach, Michael Chang, for a doubles exhibition match held at Newport Beach Tennis Club. The two players entertained the audience with their skilled play and camaraderie during the fun-filled charity event.

his was the fourth time Nishikori joined the annual event held by the Chang Family Foundation, led by Michael Chang, who holds the record for being the youngest winner of a Grand Slam. All profits from this tennis tournament will go to HomeAid Orange County, a nonprofit organization providing housing and living support for those experiencing homelessness. Despite the scorching heat, crowds of tennis fans gathered at the venue in a day filled with community spirit, fun, and laughter. The event started off with a tennis workshop, bringing young players, fans, and sponsors together. During the exhibition, opponent player, Justin Gimelstob, showed off his comedic side while rallying the crowd and giving spontaneous tips on his backhand technique. Trick shot performances were also a fan favorite during the match.

Kei Nishikori Kei Nishikori is a Japanese professional tennis player. He is the only male Japanese tennis player ever to be ranked inside the top 10 in ATP Singles Ranking.He began playing tennis at five years old and qualified for his first ATP main draw event at 17. Nishikori has won 11 singles titles.
