FORMER CITY CO U N C I L LO R S MEMORIALIZED AT CORNWALL CITY HALL - TA display has been established at City Hall in memory of two City Councillors who passed away while in office. A memorial plaque and photos of the late Councillors Huguette Burroughs and Guy Léger have been placed at the entrance to the Councillors’ Room at City Hall, across the hall from Council Chambers. Family and friends of the late Councillors gathered with members of City Council at City Hall on Wednesday, June 26th to celebrate and recognize the display. “Councillors Burroughs and Léger were committed leaders and ambassadors for Cornwall, and they devoted countless hours towards making our community a better place,” said Mayor Bob Kilger. Councillor Léger, who served on City Council for over 15 years, passed away in November 2008. Councillor Burroughs passed away in March 2005 during her first term on City Council. “Councillors Burroughs and Léger were strong advocates for Cornwall’s francophone community, and the community-atlarge,” added Mayor Kilger. “Their records of service remind us that each one of us can make a difference, and by working together, we can achieve great things.” THE BEYOND 21 PROGRAM FOR SPECIAL NEEDS ADULTS BENEFITS FROM A $119,000 OTF GRANT - The Beyond 21 Program for Special Needs Adults has been assured a successful future thanks to a $119,000 grant over two years, from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. “We are so pleased that the Ontario Trillium Foundation was receptive to our request and that they also saw the critical need that

is being met by The Beyond 21 Program. We are growing and our future success will now be enhanced with the hiring of a full time Program Manager. Our Special Needs Adult participants will greatly benefit from these funds", says Tish Humphries, President, The Beyond 21 Program. COUNTY COUNCIL APPROVES NEW RESOURCE TO PROMOTE SDG - County Council has approved a new resource to assist staff in the promotion of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG). The Corporate Identity Toolkit (the Toolkit) was developed through the work of the Ad Hoc Committee on Corporate Identity, constituted by County Council earlier this year. The Toolkit has been designed to present – in plain language – expectations and parameters for the usage of the Corporation’s new visual identity. Adopting this approach will help ensure that a clear and consistent message is conveyed to the public on behalf of SDG, and will work towards establishing a strong corporate identity that is uniform and recognizable. “I am pleased that County Council has endorsed the work of the Ad Hoc Committee, which will transform the way SDG communicates with the public,” said CAO Tim Simpson. “It is our hope that the Toolkit will assist staff in creating a higher level of public awareness on how we serve our residents and taxpayers,” Simpson added.

U12 BLAZERS WIN PRIZE FOR SPRING CLEAN-UP CHALLENGE - Members of the U12 Girls Blazers were recently recognized for their participation in this year's Spring Clean-Up Challenge. As part of the community-wide clean up effort, the group decided to pick up litter around the Benson Centre and nearby Angelo Lebano Lane. Perry Ruffo, the team coordinator, saw it as a good opportunity to build some team spirit while giving back to the community at the same time. The team was chosen at random as the recipient of this year's grand prize from the City of Cornwall, which included a recognition plaque and free swim passes to the Aquatic Centre. In all, 15 groups and individuals registered to participate in this year's Spring CleanUp Challenge, which was held from April 20th to 27th. A number of local schools also participated in the event, with La Citadelle Secondary School taking home top honours in that area. All told, over 1.5 tonnes of waste collected during the Spring Clean-Up Challenge. "The Spring Clean-Up Challenge presents a great opportunity to show our community pride and make our city look even better," said Mayor Bob Kilger.

Arts & Culture EVERY TIME I DIE IN CORNWALL AUGUST 22ND - Ryan "Legs" Leger makes his hometown debut with Every Time I Die on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 6:00pm until 11:00pm at the Agora Catholic Centre on 301 McConnel Avenue. In previous years Cornwall Ontario drumming sensation Ryan Leger played Warped Tour (including the Montreal date) with hardcore metal band Every Time I Die. He previously played the tour with punk rock band The Salads. Ryan Leger recalled how he use to go to Warped Tour in Montreal, not as a performer, but as a music fan. According to Leger, “I started going to Warped Tour in high school when Cornwall used to organize a bus to Montreal every year. There has always been something in my bones telling me if I worked hard enough I’d be doing tours like this one day”. The band signed with Epitaph records a few years ago, and their latest album, Ex Lives, was released in 2012. Snapshot by Jason Setnyk.

NATURALLY DELICIOUS ... with the Health Nut

Thanks so much to all of you that come to the Farmers’ Market at The Brick parking every Saturday, rain or shine. You are the best and making such a huge difference in your lives! I especially love seeing all of the young families that come week after week for their favorite Health Nut treats. The kids are really getting in on the action….this week especially with the mini juice taste testing I had going on , it was truly a hit with the young…..thanks to their parents for allowing them to start so young on their best lives ever!! They are the cutest kids ever, this little guy even wore a shirt, tie and vest…..so cool!!!

SEEKERS POLITICAL FUN

I have to share with you a great testimonial, when I received this message, it truly brought a tear to my eye knowing that I had made a difference in his son’s life.

“Good morning Sylvie: My kids love your bars ….my 10 year old son is very fussy, he has been like this since the age of 3. Very little to no veggies, lives of peanut butter, chicken and apples. He is not overweight, full of energy but we need to find ways to sneak in the good stuff! Whether it is in pancakes or cookies…can’t be too obvious though because he just will not eat it. So I will be at the market when you get back from your trip, to check out the rest of your awesome healthy food. I figure even if it’s snack foods, it’s a start to healthy taste. Thanks again, you are an inspiration to a healthy way!” This made my day….more and more parents want their children to develop good eating habits at a young age. I strongly believe that there is a healthy wave of change happening in Cornwall….woohoo!!!! I always love to promote The Seeker at my vendor’s table! Every week in my column, I try to add awesome, quick, raw recipes for you to enjoy with your families. The Seeker truly is a local gem, support the Seeker Chicks with all of your advertising needs, they are awesome ladies and so dedicated to their community. Just wanting to let all of you know that I am flying out to Calgary today, June 28th and will only be returning to the market the week-end of July 20th…… I will then be selling my amazing raw date squares that so many of you taste tested last week-end, a true hit…so many wanting to purchase some then and there. I will always bring something new to my vendor’s table as long as I get the positive feedback from my clients. I am there for you, I want you to live and feel all of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle…you are all amazing and I thank you for your constant support! For this reason, my next column will be in the July 19th edition of The Seeker. Thanks again for all of your support, I truly appreciate it!! In health, Sylvie Thibert (The Health Nut) thehealthnut@cogeco.ca www.thehealthnut.ca 613-931-3119

PASSION for FASHION by Marlene Baker

Hello to all you lovely ladies in Cornwall. Marlene here for another week of Tips and Ideas on how to make you look and feel special. Mother Nature is sure playing around with the weather, but hey, let’s just enjoy the “sunny” moments as they come and go - SUMMER is here so let's enjoy it while it lasts. I went to Ottawa on a mini trip last week to visit some of my children. I had entered a “Retro Pin- Up Contest” in which there were 20 other contestants vying for some fabulous prizes - a photo shoot, $100 cash, concert

I love who I am and I want all you lovely ladies out there to find the "YOU" in "YOU!" YOU have to come out and be Who YOU Want TO BE!!! You have to have self confidence and in doing so, YOU will find that YOU can be YOU, wherever or whomever you are with. Whether it be with your family, friends, business acquaintances or even the check out person at the grocery store. Being YOU is so much FUN and it takes a big load off. You don't have to pretend who YOU are...that's too much work and hard keeping up with false pretenses...Just Be YOU!!! While visiting I went to the famous “Ribfest” in downtown Ottawa. I have to say the ribs were good, but not as good as the ribs prepared and cooked by Isabelle Comeau from the Glengarrian Pub, here in Cornwall. The kind of ribs that fall apart and almost melt in your mouth. Finger lickin' goooood!!! :P mmmmmmmm.

tickets, etc. I didn't win, but I felt I was a winner by just having the experience of being among 20 other beautiful girls who happened to be half my age. What a wonderful feeling and quite the experience I had and enjoyed.

Our “Make Up Contest” will be extended until September, giving you ladies out there more chances to submit your photos and reasons of “Why You Should Win the Make Over Contest.” Until next week, Keep Smiling... because Life is way too Beautiful Not to!!!

I love dressing up and this type of style for the Retro Contest was from the 50's (my favorite era.) I would have never done anything like this a few years ago, but, I have discovered that the person I am is not shy and not unsociable at all. I was just getting ready to be Me. It takes time to be who you want to be.

Olymel Announces a $37 million Expansion of Cornwall Plant adding 50 jobs in Cornwall. By Bob Peters

Olymel has announced a major investment in its food processing plant in Cornwall, Ontario.

“The Olymel plant in Cornwall enjoys an advantageous geographical position close to major transportation axises and between larger centres such as Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa. The expansion of our facilities and broadening of our operations through a more diversified product line represent an additional factor in optimizing our operations so we can better serve the Canadian and U.S. markets,” added plant manager Martin Croteau.

Work now in progress includes the addition of a continuous smokehouse and construction of a biological reactor designed to increase wastewater treatment and purification capacity.

“This investment is part of a plan to reorganize the company’s operations in the processed pork sector, and is a vote of confidence in the future of the Cornwall plant. Olymel also plans to renew its production with a plan to specialize its facilities by product type. In a context of fierce competition from U.S. products in the bacon sector, Olymel has decided to change the focus of some of its facilities, including the Cornwall plant, by combining bacon production operations with other processed meat operations. By diversifying production of the Cornwall plant, we seek to increase our ability to meet our customers’ varied needs and market a highly competitive

THE SEEKER (June 28 - pg. 12)

product line,” noted Olymel President and CEO Réjean Nadeau. This significant investment in the Cornwall plant, previously specialized in the slicing and production of pre-cooked bacon, allows greater flexibility in the production of a wider variety of products. The plant may produce items such as smoked products like pork ham, picnic hams and jowls. Once the work is completed, the Cornwall plant will employ more than 320 persons. Under federal jurisdiction, the operations of the Cornwall facility are supervised by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

The company is investing $37 million in the expansion of its facilities, and will add 70,000 square feet to the existing space. The plant is located in the Cornwall Business Park.

This expansion will create fifty new jobs and enable the Cornwall plant to expand its capacity to produce not only bacon but also a wider variety of processed pork products.

Stir until the baking soda is dissolved completely. -Add this into the creamed mixture. -Stir in the flour and salt. Mix to combine. -Lastly, add the rolled oats and mix well. -I used my cookie scoop to scoop out the cookie dough onto parchment lined baking sheets. -Dip a fork in flour and press each ball of cookie dough as flat and thinly as possible. This will give you a crisp cookie once baked. -Bake the cookies in a 350 degree F. oven until golden brown, about 8 to 10 minutes. -Allow the cookies to cool on the parchment lined baking sheets before removing them to cooling racks to cool completely. -The recipe will make 5 dozen cookies. -Note, my picture: my lampshade was decorated by my Granddaughter Jade drawing flowers all over it while visiting with her Mom Jen and brother Jacob. They enjoyed the oatmeal cookies too! Have a great week!

Conquering your Negative view of Yourself “You will never be free until you free yourself from the Prison of your own false thoughts” - Philip Arnold

by Sandra Taylor Hedges

POSTCARDS FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BRAIN

SEEKING THE ARTS • SEEKING THE ARTS

The biggest stumbling block you will ever face in the pursuit of your Artistic career is yourself. You are able to sabotage your success faster than any other challenge you will face. The reason for this is as individual as you the artist are. For some it may be a fear of failure, for others a fear of success and it could even be a combination of both. You may be afraid to not measure up to the competition or possibly to even measure up to your previous successes but whatever the case the root problem is fear. The fuel to the fire of this problem is the negative view you have of yourself and what you do. It is easy to develop insecure thinking patterns if your family and friends are less than supportive of your career choice. Add to that the growing level of competition in your area of hopeful and want to be artists. Although competition is the least of these two problems it can be a factor especially if you see others with less practice and concentrated effort succeeding when you are in a slump. Lack of support can be the real author of some of your false thinking around your ability and future with regard to your art. As we have discussed before the Arts and the Artists are the one area of our culture that gets mostly lip service when it comes to

MAXVILLE FAIR ROCKED WITH GREAT MUSIC

support and stimulation of the Artistic souls that struggle to make a living. Supporting the Arts seems to be the fashionable thing to say when it comes to the various Government levels being questioned about it, but actual money flowing fairly into the artistic community is barely a dribble. With this in mind all of our well meaning support people want to paint for us a picture of a hopeless financial future in our Art so they encourage us to look for a real job and reduce our compulsion to create to a hobby. What you end up translating this to in your wonderful creative mind is “They’re telling me I am not good enough to succeed”. Well, I am here to tell you that this is not true. You are able to do anything that you put your mind to but only if you believe in your dreams. Believing in your dreams is the key to conquering your negative thoughts about yourself and your ability. If you want to be a successful artist you must first define in your mind what “Success” means to you. This is the most important step toward your dreams. Once you have this defined then and only then will you have the strength to do what is necessary to take the path less traveled and be the Artist you want to be. Next time we will look at what success means and what it means to you. Jeff Brunet (in top photo, far left) of Alkaline Entertainment, (www.alkalinelive.com) said, "I loved being part of the 125th anniversary for the Maxville Fair. The committee and the volunteers for the Maxville Fair did an impeccable job in hosting such an elaborate and outstanding event.

Even though the weather did not co-operate for most of the day it did not dampen the spirits for all the people who attended (estimated at 5,000). Switchgear kicked off the celebration for the evening with a string of original songs from their new CD, Country in the City. Switchgear did not disappoint the crowd.

Local favourites, Trench Town Oddities took the stage and while it was pouring rain, their fans spirits were not dampened. TTO had the crowd dancing and singing in the rain while they performed their original songs from the Live, Love, Laugh CD. The rain ended shortly before the Oddities left the stage.

Emerson Drive took some time out from the studios in Nashville to play a few gigs in Ontario and Maxville was the beneficiary of an outstanding show. Emerson Drive opened up their set with Let It Roll and ended the show with She's My Kind of Crazy. The diversified crowd of young and old were enjoying every song that they played from their long list of hits. Maxville locals sure know how to party!"

The Power of Gratitude Last week I had the privilege of attending a networking event for entrepreneurs. I chose this event at it was billed as The Gratitude Circle. There have been many ‘gratitude roadSIGNS’ in my life of late from simple conversations, to radio programs, to articles, all extolling the importance of gratitude in our lives. In contrast to this however, I continue to find that many people are not aware of the idea of a ‘gratitude practice’ or the important role gratitude can play in your life. Being Consciously Aware Bringing gratitude into your life is really a ‘mindfulness practice’, specifically taking the time to become consciously aware of what your day has offered you and to express gratitude for the many apparently insignificant things that have shown up. For example: a colorful morning sky, an inspiring song on the radio on your way to work, a heartfelt interaction with another person, meeting a client’s needs and receiving great feedback on a job well done, a shared moment after work with a few friends, a great dinner with your family, seeing the first hummingbird of the season, or simply having great health and feeling amazing.

Notice how actively unconscious most of us are. Consider this; you get in the car every morning to drive to work. You arrive and as you pull into your parking spot you suddenly realize, wow, I am already here. I didn’t even notice the drive in – I was on autopilot. The radio was blaring yet I didn’t hear anything anyone said as they were all talking at the same time. I didn’t notice anything along the way – did I miss something? OMG, I really am living in auto-pilot! The day continues, and because much of your life is routine, it slips by, the details of the day unnoticed. There is a good chance that you will remember the less than positive things however, and that you will notice all that does not get done. Gratitude Lifts YOU Up! Gratitude gives you an opportunity to look at your life through the lens of positivity. In her book entitled Positivity, Barbara Fredrickson states that the old story is that anything that feels good is merely a distraction – trivial, inconsequential and

THE SEEKER (June 28 - pg. 14)

expendable. The new story however, backed by science, is that these same good feelings are the active ingredients needed to allow us to flourish, that is feel good about ourselves and our lives. This begins by learning to cherish those special moments in your life, bringing your focus to what you are grateful for. By cherishing those special moments in your life, you begin to feel better about yourself. This allows you to be more resilient. Research has demonstrated that feeling positive about your life, which is the end product of gratitude, has farreaching benefits including building a stronger immune system, a cardiovascular system which is less reactive to stress, and increased optimism. Finally, if you feel better about YOU today, there is a good chance that you will feel better about YOU tomorrow. I have nothing to be Grateful for! I do hear this, often! A former coaching client of mine shared that she had nothing in her life to be grateful for, no one loved her and she was all alone. I asked her to take a closer look at her life, her relationship with her son, and her relationship with her colleagues. When she did this, she realized that she had a great deal of love in her life and when she expressed gratitude for this, more love appeared. At the point that I had begun speaking with her, she was engaged in a contentious divorce and child-custody battle with her former husband. As she shifted her focus to love and being grateful, her relationship with him changed and he dropped the suit. Gratitude shifts your awareness and changes your energy. When your energy changes, so does the energy around you. Final Word Gratitude is a powerful energy, bringing you into a conscious relationship with what is right with your life. I encourage you, just as I do my clients, to begin some type of Gratitude Practice as part of your life. This can be a Gratitude Journal where you record your daily gratitudes or, my favorite one, sharing what you are grateful for with your family as you sit down for dinner. Whatever your choice, know that gratitude will change your life – it has been proven scientifically! Betty Healey

10 Simple Tips to Keep Your Home Safe While You’re Away By Debbie Villeneuve Summer’s here, children are out of school and warmer weather upon us. That means it’s high time for most Canadians to take much needed vacations. But before you pack your bags and either jump into your car or RV for a road trip or jet off to an exotic location to de-stress, it’s important to take measures that ensure your return home is just as stress-free as your vacation.

Another Successful AGM for TEAM CORNWALL Team Cornwall held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, June 27 at the Best Western Plus Parkway Inn & Conference Centre on Vincent Massey Drive. The luncheon meeting got underway at 12:00pm (Noon).

Allstate data shows that home burglaries are higher in July and August than at any other time of year. In consulting with clients, I often get questions about what homeowners can do to protect their home and belongings at times when they’re away. In the spirit of those many conversations, I’ve put together 10 simple tips to help protect your home while you’re off enjoying your vacation. Taking steps to protect your home from things like a break in will help you rest a little easier while you’re away. 1. Ask a neighbour to pick up your mail and newspapers every day while you’re away. If you’re going to be gone for an extended period of time, look into having deliveries stopped until you return. 2. Put several household lights on timers so they turn on and off at appropriate times. 3. If you’re gone for more than a week, arrange to have the grass mowed and hedges trimmed. 4. Ask a neighbour to park in your driveway overnight — anything that might suggest someone is home. 5. Check with your home insurance provider regarding your policy and occupancy. Some policies include a provision that will void your coverage if your home is unattended for an extended period of time. Make arrangements with a neighbour, friend or family member to visit your home every few days and make sure everything is alright. Place a sheet of paper on the kitchen counter & have it signed & dated each time your home is checked, this may help to indicate when a claim may have happened. 6. Store your valuables in a safe or rent a safety deposit box. 7. Close ground floor curtains and remove any valuables from plain sight. 8. Ask a neighbour to put out (and bring in) your trash cans and recycling bins. 9. Lock up backyard gates and make sure tool sheds are secure. 10. Do not change the greeting on your voicemail, and do not post specific information about your whereabouts on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter while you are away. This information can be viewed by anybody- even if your settings are on “private”. Wait until you’ve returned to post all the fabulous pictures of your adventures in cottage country or whatever far off locales you’ve visited.

Seen here Mayor Bob Kilger, Mr. Kevin O’Shea and Team Cornwall Chair, Gilles Latour

The meeting featured a presentation by Mr. Kevin O’Shea from the Privy Council Office. Mr. O’Shea spoke speak about the Canada-US Beyond the Border Action Plan, and what it means for Cornwall. Mr. O’Shea is Assistant Secretary to the Border Implementation Team, an initiative of the Privy Council Office.

This meeting also served as the launch of 9 summer companies ran by local students. Attendees had a chance to chat with these new entrepreneurs and learn more about their businesses. The Summer Company program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment, and administered by the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre.

Something Fishy is Going On ... at Cornwall’s OPG Visitor Centre on July 6th The St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences and the St. Lawrence Power Development Visitor Centre are partnering up again for a very fishy event on Saturday, July 6th between the hours of noon and 4 pm at the OPG Visitor Centre in Cornwall. Fish and eels, in particular, will be in the spotlight for this slippery fun filled afternoon. Geared towards the entire family, this Fish & Eel Adventure will be feature talks with OPG’s Eel experts Dr. Ron and Lisa Threader and Andy Nareszy. Fish specialist Dr. Brian Hickey from the River Institute will also be on hand to show participants how to identify some of the most common fish found in the Cornwall area and understand their biology as well as their role in the St. Lawrence river ecosystem. All ages will have an opportunity to enjoy the hands on activities with fish and live eels. The American eel, in particular, has a long and culturally significant history in this area. Experts will use live eels to demonstrate how the eel plays such an important role in the history and health of the St. Lawrence River. “The American eel travels thousands of kilometres in its lifetime, and on its journey, it will spend time in the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence River, and the ocean,” said Dr. Brian Hickey, Research Scientist at the River Institute. “This afternoon event gives children and parents a chance to see and learn about eels and other species of fish and understand more about their importance to the ecosystem in a fun, hands on environment.” The St Lawrence River provides habitat for hundreds of different species of fish. Workshops are free of charge and the OPG Visitor Centre also offers displays and interactive exhibits that describe the St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project construction story and its effects on the nearby communities. Visitors can also learn and observe how OPG safely generates electricity at its nuclear, thermal and hydro generating stations located across Ontario. The Nor’Westers and Loyalist Museum in Williamstown is pleased to present a lecture and demonstration on the technique and history of twined fiber by art fiber artist Vera Longtoe Sheehan on July 12, 2013, at 3pm and 7pm. Vera, an indigenous Abenaki Vermont artist, has preserved the tradition of her ancestors and is the last known Native American New England family making twined, plant-fiber pieces. Vera harvests several plant fiber species, pulls their long fibers and twists them into cordage. This cordage is then woven, twined or knotted into twined bags, baskets and textiles. Today Vera combines family tradition with knowledge of Wabanaki culture to create a unique combination of ancient and contemporary pieces. Vera also recreates historical pieces using archival documents, drawings and paintings from the 17th to the 19th century. Taught by her father, she is teaching her two children the art of twining to preserve this ancient art form. Her dedicated and careful studies provide a unique glimpse into native culture. Vera’s art is exhibited in private and public collections across the United States, Canada, and recently Germany. The two presentations will be held on Friday July 12, 2013, at the Nor’Westers and Loyalist Museum, in Williamstown, ON. Each presentation will include a short documentary film, a lecture and a demonstration on this ancient art form. The first lecture is scheduled for 3pm and the second for 7pm. Admission to the Lecture is $10/each. Please call and reserve your seat in advance as space is limited (30 seats per session only)! BORDER PATROL with Craig Revelle

SEEKING SPORTS A weekly look at racing from both sides of the 1000 Islands Of all my 30 years or more of going to the races, I don’t think I have ever seen a season with this much rain. It seems that every weekend we have had to deal with at least some rain, and that has been tough on some of our local tracks. My plan this past weekend was to attend the World of Outlaw Late Model Series race at Brighton Speedway on Thursday and then travel to Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, and Cornwall Speedway on Sunday. Cornwall has had the worst luck this season, canceling four of their first five scheduled events due to rain. The World of Outlaw Late Model Series invaded Brighton Speedway for the first time ever on Thursday night for the inaugural running of the Excel Tower 50. Georgia racer Darrel Lanigan took home the victory, finishing ahead of Josh Richards, Chub Frank, Dan Stone and Shane Clanton.

Friday night was a great evening for racing as the Go Nuclear Late Models joined the regular weekly program at Mohawk International Raceway for the Modifieds, Sportsman and Bandit Divisions. World of Outlaw Late Model drivers Chub Frank and Clint Smith were in the area, and found rides for this event at Mohawk, and they would go on to finish first and second in the Late Model main event with Bear Lake, Pennsylvania racer Chub Frank taking his first ever Go Nuclear Series win over AJ Kingsley, Dale Caswell and Billy Eisele. Carey Terrance was the winner of the Modified main event, taking the checkered flag ahead of Danny O’Brien, Brian McDonald, Chris Raabe and Zach Aubertine. After a rare second place finish the previous week, Dylan Evoy returned to his winning ways, claiming yet another Mohawk Raceway feature win ahead of Corey Wheeler, Shane Pecore, Brent Kelsey and Mike Maresca. Jean Marc Larose took home the win in the bandit division.

SEEKING SPORTS McCreadie out for the night on lap 28 opening the door for Brighton Speedway winner Darrel Lanigan. He led the final 22 laps to claim the WoO Late Model series victory in front of the “Cat Daddy” Clint Smith, Bub McCool, Billy Decker and the “Georgia Bulldog” Shane Clanton. The Modified feature started right after the Late Model feature had finished, and it Kyle Dingwall taking the lead early. Dingwall and Carey Terrance battled for the top spot through lap 20 when the skies opened up and rain began to fall. Dingwall was ahead at the time and the race was called official after just 20 of the 30 scheduled laps. Danny O’Brien finished second after starting from deep in the field, while Stephane Lafrance, Chris Raabe and Luke Whitteker rounded out the top five positions. The schedule 20 lap Sportsman feature was postponed to a later date. This coming week I will celebrate Canada Day Weekend with a very busy weekend at the local tracks. I will be back at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, Brockville Speedway on Saturday night and a weekend double-header at Cornwall Speedway with the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series in town on Sunday followed by a DIRTcar Triple on Monday with the 358 Modified DIRTcar Series/Canadian Nationals Series race along with the DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRTcar Pro Stocks/Mohawk Racing Parts Series event. A late afternoon rain shower delayed the events at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, but the show continued on and it was Danny O’Brien claiming his second win of the 2013 season. Luke Whitteker continued his strong season with a second place finish while Pat O’Brien, Lee Gill and Bobby Herrington rounded out the top five positions. Jessica Power claimed her first win of the season in dominating fashion leading all 25 laps en route to victory. Chris Herbison, Jonathon Ferguson, Dylan Evoy and Shane Pecore completed the top five.
