Variety and quality of goods which are sold to both domestic and foreign markets of Supa Bee Farm guarantee its ability of manufacturer to a certain extent. But to get to where they are today, it is not easy.

5

To have this success, Mr.Somboon and Ms.Supa Yawiloet, the first pioneers, must overcome many obstacles and experience many matters because they were not born with inheritance of business, but just teachers in Mae Rim District, Chiangmai Province. 6

At the beginning, Mr.Somboon and his wife were government teachers and experienced many extra jobs. But the quality of life was not improved much. Until about 1985, Mr. Chen Jin, a 60-year-old Taiwanese, came to ask for renting a house for a bee farm at Mae Rim District. Then Mr. Somboon began to learn that bee farming is an interesting career. This inspired him because all the time worked as a teacher and did a lot of extra work, life was not what he expected. So he decided to learn it by volunteering to work with workers of Mr. Chen Jin on every holiday.

There was no lecture for this learning, but he had to observe, memorize, and ask questions to get the knowledge. Until the end of that year, Mr. Somboon and Ms. Supa, the couple, decided to buy bees to try raising on their own, for 10 beehives, expanding 3 more beehives, and bought more to trial and error from their experience. 7

Until March 1987, the bees fed with natural nectars from Longan flowers were able to bring up to 150 kilograms of longan flower honey. This encouraged him in doing so. Then, he allowed Mr. Chen Jin to sell it in Taiwan and earned a return of more than ten thousand baht. This made him joyful so much.

From such experience and with willingness accumulated, he could expand from few tens of beehives into 200-300 beehives at a later time with better returns, respectively.

Finally, Ms. Supa, his wife decided to resign from the teacher career and turned to a full-time bee farmer, and began to market the bee products market by packing bottles of 1 kilogram weight, hawking neighbors or familiar people and focused on the general market with both domestic and foreign sales in the brand “Supa Bee Farm. In 2005, they joined as one of the exporters under the name of Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, and incorporated as Supa Farm Bee Co., Ltd. In 2015, Supa Bee Farm established a learning center to be a knowledge dissemination center for people interested in the matter of bees, amazing insects that are paired with Thai farmers. 11
