É um ambicioso novo começo para o mestre chocolateiro belga Frank Vermorgen e a artista plástica algarvia Elza Newton. O casal que em 2006 fundou a Quinta do Xocolatl, uma pequena fábrica de chocolates na Luz de Tavira, vai agora dar o passo seguinte com a abertura de um renovado espaço a poucos metros do Mercado Municipal de Faro, totalmente dedicado ao chocolate. Chama-se «Xocolarte» e abre pela primeira vez terça-feira, 14 de Outubro.

It is an ambitious new beginning for the Belgian master chocolatier Frank Vermogen and his partner artist Elza Newton. The couple that in 2006 founded the Quinta do Xocolatl - a small chocolate factory in Luz de Tavira – are now moving for their next step ahead. Next Tuesday, October 14th, they’ll be opening a bigger, better space, devoted to chocolate. It is called «Xocolarte», just a few steps from the Faro’s Municipal Market.

Für den belgischen Maître Chocolatier Frank Vermorgen und die bildende Künstlerin Elza Newton ist es ein ambitionierter Neuanfang. 2006 gründete das Paar eine kleine Schokoladenmanufaktur in Luz de Tavira - die Quinta do Xocolatl – und geht jetzt mit der Eröffnung renovierter Räumlichkeiten nur wenige Meter entfernt vom Mercado Municipal in Faro, den nächsten Schritt. Nova fábrica de chocolate adoça o Algarve

A sweeter Algarve from Faro • Neue Schokoladenfabrik will Algarve versüßen “Encontramos este espaço fantástico, com 300 m2 e completamente equipado. Isto abre-nos novas possibilidades para a produção e é para nós uma grande evolução, sem dúvida”, diz sem esconder o entusiasmo Vermorgen.

“Estávamos no fim-do-mundo, mas ainda assim as pessoas iam à nossa procura. Acredito que aqui será muito mais fácil chegar a mais gente, e também distribuir os nossos chocolates no oeste do Algarve.

Queremos expandir a nossa marca, através de um franchise, e neste momento estamos também à procura de parceiros comerciais. Vamos começar com uma primeira loja de luxo na zona de Almancil/ Loulé, para os nossos produtos”, revela.

“O consumo de chocolate tem aumentado a cada ano, no mundo inteiro. Até a Malásia começou a produzir cacau. Nós vamos continuar a usar a matéria-prima de São Tomé. Os graus são importados por uma marca belga e têm 70% de cacau. Tem uma qualidade absolutamente fantástica que combina muito bem com os produtos regionais do Algarve”.

Desde o início, há cerca de 8 anos atrás, que Vermorgen se dedicou a casar o chocolate belga com iguarias locais como a flor de sal, alfarroba, figo, medronho, casca de laranja e casca de limão. “É o nosso lema”, sublinha. Também destaca os “diamantes do Algarve” recheados com os melhores azeites e “nibs” de cacau.

O início da actividade em Faro vai começar devagar, mas está prevista uma grande festa de inauguração num entardecer de Novembro. É apenas uma questão de dar tempo até a nova casa funcionar na perfeição.

Uma novidade que Vermorgen vai estrear são as novas máquinas de temperar o chocolate de última geração. Vão permitir um aumento de 5 vezes na capacidade de produção.

“Com este tipo de equipamentos, podemos facilmente produzir 200 quilos por dia” de bombons e outros chocolates.

Em 2013, a produção de chocolate da Xocolatl, teve como destino uma série de lojas, tanto em Portugal como no sul de Espanha. Agora, com este investimento, na ordem dos 50 000 euros, Vermorgen e a sua equipa vão aumentar a gama: “macarrons” (bolo de amêndoa) com oito sabores diferentes do Algarve e “gomas” 100 por cento naturais (com 70 por cento de fruta e 30 por cento de açúcar) são algumas das iguarias que vão estar nas prateleiras da nova loja.

Os bombons de chocolate custam 48€/kg, mas apesar do preço e segundo a experiencia do produtor, “a maioria dos compradores e apreciadores são os clientes portugueses…”

Diariamente, serão produzidos cupcakes com 100 por cento de manteiga, mousse de chocolate fresca e para os mais gulosos, fondues de chocolate com vários sabores. “Comprámos na Alemanha uma máquina especial que faz chocolate quente na hora. Os ingredientes são misturados à frente dos clientes, que poderão escolher entre sete variedades diferentes, com gengibre ou picante”.

“We found this fantastic space, with 300 square meters and completely equipped. This opens up new possibilities for our production, and it is certainly a great evolution for us”, says enthusiastic Vermogen.

“Before, we were located somehow at the end of the world, but even so, people were coming to look for us. Here it will be easier to reach more people, and also to distribute our chocolates in the Western Algarve. We want to expand our brand, by means of a franchising, and at the moment we are also looking for commercial partners. We will start with a first luxury shop in the area of Almancil/Loulé, to sell our products”, he reveals.

“The chocolate consumption has increased every year, in the entire world. Even Malaysia has started to produce cocoa. We will keep using the raw-material from São Tomé. These single-origin beans are imported by a Belgian brand and have 70% cocoa. Their quality is absolutely fantastic and it pairs well with the regional products of the Algarve”.

Since the beginning, about 8 years ago, Vermorgen always devoted himself to pairing the Belgian chocolate with the local delicacies like sea salt, carob, fig, medronho, and orange or lemon peel.

“That what we are all about!”, he says.

The beginning of the new space in Faro will start slowly. A great opening party is already foreseen to happen during a November evening. Big news is a recently acquired state-of-the-art chocolate seasoning machine. It will allow the production capacity to increase fivefold. “With this type of equipment, we can easily produce 200 kilos per day” of bonbons and other chocolates.

In 2013, the chocolate production of the «Xocolatl» was sold in many of shops, either in the Algarve and the South of Spain. Now, with this investment boasting nearly 50,000 Euros, Vermorgen and his team will increase the yet available range of products in the new shop’s shelves: “macarrons” (almond cake) with eight different flavors’ from the Algarve, and 100 percent natural (with 70 per cent fruit and 30 per cent sugar).

The chocolate bonbons cost 48€/kg, but even though and according to the maker’s experience, “the great majority of the purchasers and lovers are Portuguese clients…”

Fresh “cupcakes” (with 100 per cent butter) and fresh chocolate mousse will be baked on a daily bases. Chocolate fondues with different flavors will challenge the most sweet-toothed.

“We also have bought a special machine in Germany for hot chocolate cups. The ingredients are mixed in front of the client, who can choose from seven different varieties, with ginger or spice, just to give you a taste”.

„Wir haben diese fantastischen 300 m2 großen und komplett ausgestatteten Räumlichkeiten gefunden. Dadurch eröffnen sich für ganz neue Produktionsmöglichkeiten und es ist zweifellos eine große Weiterentwicklung für uns“, sagt Vermorgen, ohne dabei seine Begeisterung zu verhehlen. „Bisher waren wir am Ende der Welt und trotzdem haben die Leute uns gefunden. Ich glaube hier können wir sehr viel leichter viel mehr Leute erreichen und es vereinfacht auch den Vertrieb unserer Schokolade in der Westalgarve. Über ein Franchise-System wollen wir mit unserer Marke expandieren und suchen momentan Geschäftspartner. Beginnen werden wir mit einem Luxusgeschäft für unsere Produkte in der Gegend von Almancil/Loulé“, verrät er. „Der weltweite Konsum von Schokolade hat jedes Jahr zugenommen. Sogar in Malaysia hat man mittlerweile begonnen, Kakao anzubauen. Wir verwenden aber weiterhin den Rohstoff aus São Tomé, der von einer belgischen Firma importiert wird und einen Kakaoanteil von 70% hat. Die Qualität ist absolut fantastisch und lässt sich sehr gut mit den regionalen Erzeugnissen aus der Algarve kombinieren.“ Vermorgen hat vor etwa acht Jahren begonnen, belgische Schokolade mit lokalen Spezialitäten wie Flor de Sal (Salzblume), Karobe (aus der Frucht des Johannisbrotbaums), Feige, Medronho und Orangen- und Zitronenschale zu kombinieren. „Das ist unser Thema“, sagt er.

In Faro wollen sie langsam mit den Aktivitäten beginnen, aber im kommenden November soll zur Abenddämmerung ein großes Einweihungsfest stattfinden. Die Zeit bis dahin ist erforderlich, um das neue Haus perfekt zum Laufen zu bringen. Als Neuheit wird Vermorgen dann auch seine Maschine der neusten Generation zum Temperieren von Schokolade einweihen, die es ermöglicht, die Produktionskapazität um das Fünffache zu steigern. „Mit diesem Gerät können wir leicht 200 Kilo“ Pralinen oder andere Schokolade „am Tag herstellen.“ Im Jahr 2013 hat Xocolatl für eine Reihe von Geschäften in Portugal und in Südspanien produziert. Nach der aktuellen Investition, die um die 50.000 Euro betrug, werden Vermorgen und sein Team das Angebot ausweiten: „Macarrons“ (Mandelkuchen) mit acht verschiedenen Aromen aus der Algarve und 100-prozentig natürliches Fruchtgummi (mit einem Fruchtanteil von 70 Prozent und 30 Prozent Zucker) sind nur einige der neuen Leckereien, die man in den Regalen des neuen Ladens vorfinden wird.

Die Pralinen kosten 48 Euro/Kilo. Trotz dieses Preises sind laut Erfahrung des Herstellers, „die Mehrheit der Liebhaber und Käufer, portugiesische Kunden ...“ Täglich werden “Cupcakes” mit reiner Butter, frische “Mousse au Chocolat” und für die größten Leckermäulchen, Schokoladenfondues mit verschiedenen Aromen hergestellt.

Outra vertente que Frank Vermorgen e Elza Newton querem dinamizar são os workshops para adultos e para crianças. Os primeiros já estão agendados para 19 e 26 de Outubro, com início às 11h00. Terão a duração de quatro horas cada. O tema é como fazer bombons de forma simples em casa.

Em breve, os mais novos vão ter workshops criativos. “Vão poder desenvolver trabalhos em massa-pão, ou formar palavras com letras de chocolate”, exemplifica Elza Newton. A artista também vai expor as suas esculturas em cerâmica e pintura no novo espaço.

“Possivelmente, seria mais fácil abrir esta loja no Porto, porque é mais frio e há mais gente. Mas eu no Algarve estou há 15 anos. Gosto muito de viver aqui. Estou muito feliz, pois esta é a realização de um sonho. Sempre quis ter uma loja profissional. Vamos ser a mais de doce de Faro!”

A «Xocolarte» vai estar aberta de Terça-feira a Sábado, das 10h00 às 19h00.

Frank Vermorgen and Elza Newton also are also planning workshops both for adults and children. The first venues are scheduled for October 19th and 26th, starting at 11am and lasting four hours each. The theme for this very first workshop will be how to make bonbons at home in a very easy way.

Soon, the youngsters will have creative workshops. “They will be able to develop works in marzipan, or form chocolate words”, explains Elza Newton. The artist will also exhibit her ceramic sculptures and paintings in the new space.

“It probably would have been easier to open the shop in Oporto, since it is colder and has more people. But I have been living in the Algarve for 15 years now. I really like it here. I am very happy, as this means the achievement of a dream. I always wanted to have a professional shop. And we will be the sweetest of Faro, for sure!”

The «Xocolarte» shop will be open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 7pm.

“In Deutschland haben wir eine Spezialmaschine gekauft, die es uns ermöglicht, heiße Schokolade ganz schnell zuzubereiten. Die Zutaten werden vor den Augen der Kunden gemischt, die zwischen sieben verschiedenen Variationen, mit Ingwer oder pikant, wählen können.“ Wer an einem der Tische Platz nimmt, kann durch eine riesengroße Glaswand, aus der ersten Reihe, bei der Schokoladenherstellung zusehen. Es ist wie eine Art tägliche Live-Koch-Show.

Ein anderer Aspekt, den Frank Vermorgen und Elza Newton aufbauen wollen, sind Workshops für Erwachsene und Kinder, die erstmalig am 19. und 26. Oktober jeweils ab 11 Uhr stattfinden und vier Stunden dauern. Das Thema ist die einfache Herstellung von Pralinen zu Hause.

Demnächst wird außerdem ein Kreativworkshop für die Jüngsten angeboten. „Sie können etwas aus Brotteig kneten oder Worte aus Schokoladenbuchstaben bilden“, nennt Elza Newton als Beispiel.

Die Künstlerin wird in den neuen Räumlichkeiten auch ihre Keramikskulpturen und ihre Bilder ausstellen.

“Es wäre wahrscheinlich einfacher gewesen, diesen Laden in Porto aufzumachen, weil es kühler ist und dort mehr Leute leben. Aber ich bin seit 15 Jahren in der Algarve. Ich lebe sehr gerne hier. Ich bin sehr glücklich, denn dies ist die Realisierung eines Traumes. Ich wollte schon immer ein richtiges Geschäft haben. Wir werden der süßeste Laden von ganz Faro sein!“ Das Geschäft „Xocolarte” wird Dienstag bis Samstag von 10 bis 19 Uhr geöffnet sein.

Bolos judeus e moldes da fábrica de Dresden destruída na guerra A um canto da nova casa, Frank Vermorgen colocou uma pequena vitrina com objectos curiosos. Trata-se de um pequeno museu com curiosidades como uma peça francesa do século XVII utilizada para fazer chocolate quente, invenção original dos Maias. Mas o que atrai o olhar é um gnomo, uma soca e um coelho, em metal. Peças que já foram instrumentos de trabalho na cozinha do pai de Vermorgen, que também era chocolateiro. “Essas formas foram feitas pela Anton Reiche, na cidade de Dresden, que chegou a ser a maior fábrica do mundo de formas de chocolate. Tinham catálogos em 10 idiomas diferentes. Vendiam para todo o mundo, até para a Rússia e para o Japão. Infelizmente, durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, os aliados bombardearam Dresden”, num dos ataques aéreos mais devastadores do conflito, “e a fábrica foi completamente destruída”, conta.

“Na década de 1950, a geração mais nova da família recuperou a tradição e começou de novo a fabricar moldes, mas em plástico, obviamente. Todos os moldes originais perderam-se e a nova empresa teve de começar de novo”, diz. A vitrine guarda ainda um par de moldes para pastelaria judaicos, usados para fazer bolos em forma de cordeiro, uma tradição da Páscoa. Vermorgen encontrouos na adega de uma pastelaria na Antuérpia, de onde é originário. “Penso que são do século XVIII e iam mesmo ao forno.” Resta dizer que em 2015 este chocolateiro quer editar uma versão reduzida e em português do seu livro «Bombons Belgas», onde descreve uma série de receitas de bom chocolate.

Jewish cakes and molds from the lost Dresden factory

Jüdische Kuchen und Formen aus einer im Krieg zerstörten Dresdener Fabrik

Frank Vermorgen reserved a corner of his new space to set a small display cabinet with rare items. It is a tiny museum with rarities: a French piece from the 17th Century used to make hot chocolate. And some eye-catchers such as an all-metal gnome, a Dutch shoe and a rabbit. The now antique collectibles were real working tools of Vermorgen’s father, also was an Antwerpian chocolatier.

The story behind them? They were made by Anton Reiche, in Dresden, which was one of the biggest factories of chocolate molds in the world. They sold them around the planet, even in deep Russia and Japan. Unfortunately, Dresden was completely destroyed by the allies during the Second World War, in one of the most devastating bombing attacks on Germany. “And so, the factory and all the original molds themselves were lost”, he tells. “But in the late 1950s, the younger generation recovered the family tradition. They started again to produce molds, but in modern plastic, from scratch”, he says. The display cabinet also keeps a very interesting pair of Judaic pastry molds, used to bake lambshaped cakes, an Easter tradition. Vermorgen found them in the basement of a shop in Antwerp, his home town. “I think that they are from the 18th Century, and really used to go to the oven”. Last, but not the least, in 2015 this chocolatier wants to publish an abbreviated version of his book «Belgium Chocolates» in the Portuguese language, where he describes a series of recipes of good chocolate.

In einer Ecke des neuen Hauses hat Frank Vermorgen eine kleine Glasvitrine mit interessanten Objekten platziert. Es ist ein kleines Museum mit Kuriositäten, wie zum Beispiel einem französischen Stück aus dem 17. Jahrhundert, das zum Herstellen heißer Schokolade verwendet wurde und das ursprünglich die Maya erfunden haben. Ein Zwerg, ein Pantoffel und ein Kaninchen aus Metall fallen sofort ins Auge. Diese Formen wurden schon in der Küche von Vermorgens Vaters benutzt, der ebenfalls ein Chocolatier war. Hergestellt wurden sie in der Firma Anton Reiche in Dresden, die der weltweit größte Hersteller von Schokoladenformen war. Die Kataloge kamen in 10 Sprachen heraus und man verkaufte an Kunden von Russland bis nach Japan. Leider bombardierten die Alliierten Dresden im Zweiten Weltkrieg und bei einem verheerenden Luftangriff, „wurde die Fabrik komplett zerstört“, erzählt er. “In den 50er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts ließ die jüngste Generation der Familie die Tradition wiederaufleben, stellte dann jedoch die Formen aus Plastik her. Alle Originalformen waren verloren gegangen und das neue Unternehmen musste wieder ganz von vorne anfangen“, sagt er. In der Vitrine werden auch Formen aufbewahrt, die man in der jüdischen Konditorei verwendet, um zu Ostern den traditionellen Kuchen in Form eines Lammes zuzubereiten. Vermorgen fand diese Formen im Keller einer Konditorei in Antwerpen, wo er ursprünglich herkommt. „Ich glaube sie sind aus dem 18.

Jahrhundert und wurden mit in den Ofen geschoben.“ Zum Schluss sei noch angemerkt, dass der Chocolatier im Jahr 2015 eine verkürzte portugiesische Version seines Buches „Belgische Pralinen“ herausgeben will, in dem er eine Reihe von Rezepten für gute Schokolade beschreibt.

Só o terceiro trimestre do ano registou 27 mil transacções, um crescimento de 8% face a igual período de 2013. O investimento estrangeiro representou 23% do total das transacções efectuadas nos primeiros nove meses do ano, com um total de 17.300 negócios efectuados, e no último trimestre (Julho, Agosto e Setembro) registaram-se 7.300 transacções feitas por estrangeiros. Lisboa, Loulé e Cascais são os municípios mais procurados no último trimestre e os britânicos, chineses e franceses continuam no TOP 3 dos investidores que mais procuram o imobiliário português.

Portimão Surf Clube aberto todo o ano Portimão’s surf club opens all year round • Surf-Klub Portimão ganzjährig geöffnet O ainda bastante jovem Portimão Surf Clube celebrou no passado Sábado, dia 4 de Outubro, uma festa de apresentação à sociedade. A ocasião serviu para assinar um protocolo com a autarquia, para uso dos balneários da zona desportiva da Praia da Rocha ao longo de todo o ano. A parceria é válida durante um ano. Tem como contrapartida o apoio deste clube a eventos organizados pelo município. “Não estamos apenas focados na vertente desportiva. Queremos organizar eventos de cultura, festas, exposições, unir as pessoas”, explicou-nos Francisco Canelas, campeão de surf, professor e mentor do clube. “Em breve vamos ter uma mini-rampa com 1 metro de altura para toda a gente aprender”, acrescentou. O clube tem 60 sócios, embora envolva cerca de uma centena de pessoas, várias ligadas ao universo surf, como o jornalista desportivo Paulo Marcelino e o fotógrafo internacional de surf, João “Brek” Bracourt.

The partnership is valid for one year, and the counterpart is that the club supports the municipality in the events promoted by the municipality. Durch Kulturveranstaltungen, Feste und Ausstellungen wollen wir Menschen zusammenbringen“, erklärte der Surf-Champion, Lehrer und Mentor des Klubs Francisco Canelas „Demnächst werden wir über eine einen Meter hohe Rampe verfügen, auf der alle Leute lernen können“, fügte er hinzu. Guadiana ganha nova grande rota pedestre Guadiana gets a new pedestrian route • Guadiana bekommt neue große Wanderroute A Associação Odiana está a implementar a Grande Rota pedestre do Guadiana que se vai juntar à já existente rede de 19 percursos de pequena rota (135 quilómetros no total). No total, vão ser 65 quilómetros, que pretendem afirmar este território como uma excelente zona para o pedestrianismo e de turismo de natureza. Até final de 2014, a Grande Rota do Guadiana, já com numeração atribuída (GR15), estará completamente sinalizada, e pronta a percorrer, desde Alcoutim, passando pelas aldeias de Odeleite e Azinhal, Castro Marim e terminando marcha em Vila Real de Santo António. Vai ter ligação à «Via Algarviana» (GR13) que atravessa o Algarve, e ligação a outras vias internacionais da vizinha Espanha. A Odiana é uma Associação sem fins lucrativos, cujo objectivo é contribuir para o desenvolvimento económico, social e cultural dos municípios de Alcoutim, Castro Marim e Vila Real de Santo António.

The Odiana Association is launching the Great Guadiana Pedestrian Route, which joins the already existing network of 19 short walks (135 kilometers in total). The 65 kilometer new Route aims to make this territory stand out as an excellent area for pedestrianism and tourism of nature. Until the end of 2014, the Great Guadiana Route (numbered GR15), will be completely signalized and ready to be crossed from Alcoutim, passing through Odeleite, Azinhal, Castro Marim and ending in Vila Real de Santo António. It will have a connection to the «Via Algarviana» (GR13), which crosses the Algarve, and a link to other international routes of the neighboring Spain. The Odiana is a non-profit association that aims to promote economic, social and cultural development of Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.

Der Verein Odiana markiert derzeit den Wanderweg “Grande Rota Pedestre do Guadiana“, der zu dem bereits existierenden Netzwerk von 19 Kurzstrecken (insgesamt 135 Kilometer) hinzukommt. Die neue Wanderroute ist 65 Kilometer lang und bestätigt, dass dieses Gebiet hervorragend für das Wandern und den Naturtourismus geeignet ist. Bis Ende 2014 soll die Markierung der Grande Rota do Guadiana mit der bereits zugeteilten Nummerierung (GR15) abgeschlossen sein.

Man kann dann auf diesem Weg von Alcoutim über die Dörfer Odeleite und Azinhal und über Castro Marim nach Vila Real de Santo António wandern. Der Weg wird auch mit der „Via Algarviana“ (GR13) und mit anderen internationalen Wanderwegen im benachbarten Spanien verbunden. Odiana ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein, dessen Ziel die wirtschaftliche, soziale und kulturelle Weiterentwicklung der Bezirke, Alcoutim, Castro Marim und Vila Real de Santo António ist.

It is aimed for professionals and students of the areas of Law, Social Services, Education and Health. The workshop will focus on parental responsibilities and situations of maltreatment of children and youngsters. Festival de Filmes sobre Arte procura interessados no Algarve Festival for films on arts is looking for hosts • Filmfestival zum Thema Kunst sucht Interessierte aus der Algarve Last September 25th, the Fortress of Sagres hosted an extension of the Films on Arts Festival (as part of the Temps d’Image), organized by the Tertúlia de Aljezur. German Rajele Jain, living in Portugal since 2005, and curator of Films on Arts, explained to us the Festivals main goals. “It may sound like something very specific, but in fact, Films on Arts features many different subjects such as lifestyle. Audiences which don’t usually go to galleries or exhibitions can get to know the atelier of an artist, and enter completely new universes. Films on Arts festival bypasses cultural barriers and can be inspiring to everyone. I would like this idea to reach not only the great centers like Lisbon and Oporto, but Portugal in the whole”.

No passado dia 25 de Setembro, a Fortaleza de Sagres acolheu uma extensão do Festival de Filmes sobre Arte (integrado no Temps d’Images), numa iniciativa da Tertúlia Associação Sócio-Cultural de Aljezur. Na ocasião falámos com a alemã Rajele Jain, organizadora desta extensão do festival europeu dedicado às artes performativas, a viver em Portugal desde 2005. “Parece uma coisa muito específica, mas na verdade, é muito abrangente. Os filmes não falam apenas de arte, mas sim de estilos de vida diferentes. O público que não costuma frequentar exposições, galerias ou museus, pode assim conhecer a intimidade de um atelier de um artista, e entrar num universo completamente novo.

Um festival deste género vence barreiras e pode ser inspirador para qualquer pessoa. Gostaria que esta ideia chegasse não apenas aos grandes centros como Lisboa ou Porto, mas a todo o Portugal”.

September fand auf Initiative des Kulturvereins Tertúlia aus Aljezur in der Fortaleza von Sagres eine Erweiterung des „Festival de Filmes sobre Arte“ statt (Festival Temps d‘Images). Wir sprachen bei dieser Gelegenheit mit der Deutschen Rajele Jain, die seit 2005 in Portugal lebt und die Erweiterung dieses europäischen Festivals, das sich den performativen Künsten widmet, organisiert hat. „Das Ganze erscheint sehr spezifisch, ist aber in Wirklichkeit sehr vielseitig. Die Filme sprechen nicht nur über Kunst, sondern zeigen auch unterschiedliche Lebensentwürfe. Ein Publikum, das normalerweise keine Ausstellungen, Galerien oder Museen besucht, kann auf diese Weise die Intimität eines Künstlerateliers kennenlernen und betritt ein vollkommen neues Universum. Ich möchte, dass diese Idee nicht nur in großen Ballungsräumen wie Lissabon oder Porto vorgestellt wird, sondern in ganz Portugal zu sehen ist. Decathlon reabre em Portimão Decathlon reopens in Portimão • Wiedereröffnung von Decathlon in Portimão A Decathlon reabriu em Portimão no dia 8 de Outubro, dois anos após o incêndio que destruiu a loja no Retail Park da cidade. São agora 1500m2 de superfície comercial “stand alone”, num investimento de 2 milhões de euros e uma equipa de 40 colaboradores. “Porque na Decathlon acreditamos que o desporto é para todos, a nossa promessa em Portimão é ter produtos de qualidade a preços ainda mais baixos”, explica José Neves, director regional para o Sul de Portugal. Com mais de 50 desportos, a nova loja de Portimão destaca os desportos de água, como o mergulho, o surf e os kaiakes, mas também a caminhada, o running ou o BTT. Com esta abertura, a Decathlon tem agora em Portugal uma rede de 22 lojas.

The Decathlon reopened in Portimão on October 8th, two years after a fire has destroyed the store in the city’s Retail Park. It has now a 1500 square meters commercial space “stand alone”, with a total investment of 2 million Euros and a team of 40 collaborators. “In Decathlon, because we believe that sport is for all, our promise in Portimão is to have products of quality for the lowest prices”, explains José Neves, the regional manager for the South of Portugal. Covering more than 50 sport modalities, the new store in Portimão highlights the water sports like diving, surf and kaiakes, and as well as the hiking, running or the BTT. With this opening, the Decathlon has now a network of 22 stores all over Portugal.

Brasileiros unem-se a Sul do Tejo Brazilians unite from South Tejo to Algarve • Neue Vertretung für Brasilianer im Süden von Portugal O consulado do Brasil, em Faro, formou na passada semana, o Conselho da Cidadania que tem como objectivo apoiar todos residentes brasileiros ao Sul do Tejo (excepto nos municípios fronteiriços a Lisboa). Estão previstas actividades como a publicação de uma newsletter periódica, a organização de um almoço mensal com apresentações culturais, e acções de formação profissional. Foram eleitos dez conselheiros e como coordenadores principais o consultor internacional Jack Soifer, autor de livros sobre turismo e economia, e Ronaldo Schultz, docente da Universidade do Algarve. O presidente é o próprio consul-geral do Brasil em Faro, o embaixador Manuel Innocencio. O Conselho da Cidadania é um modelo inovador, também usado na Suécia, uma rede de contacto directo, sem burocracias, entre cidadãos estabelecidos, que apoiam os necessitados e recém-chegados.

The Consulate General of Brazil in Faro started last week a Council of Citizenship, a network of support to Brazilian citizens living South of the Tejo. A newsletter for members, a monthly lunch with cultural presentations and training events are about to be presented on a regular basis.

Ten counselors have been chosen. Jack Soifer, author of books on Tourism and Economy and international consultant, and Ronaldo Schultz, teacher of the University of the Algarve were elected as leading coordinators. The president is ambassador Manuel Innocencio, head of the Consulate General of Brazil in Faro. The Council of Citizenship follows an innovative model, also used in Sweden, being a straight-forward exchange network, without bureaucracies, of support between well-established citizens in Portugal, as well as newcomers.

Der Präsident des neuen Bürgerrats ist Manuel Innocêncio der brasilianische Botschafter in Faro persönlich. Der Bürgerrat ist ein innovatives Modell, das auch in Schweden existiert und aus einem Netzwerk in Portugal etablierter Brasilianer besteht, die ohne bürokratische Hürden, Bedürftige und Neuankömmlinge unterstützen.

Não é prosa nem é poesia. «Cenas Maradas», o primeiro livro de Fátima Peres, é um meio caminho entre dois estilos. Uma obra escrita com o coração e que marca a estreia da principal voz da estação regional «Rádio Fóia» no mundo das letras. O lançamento está marcado para dia 18 de Outubro de 2014, às 16h00, no auditório da Caixa de Crédito Agrícola de Monchique. Fátima Peres é uma das vozes mais altas do Algarve. Está no ar de segunda a sexta-feira com o Programa «Rota do Sol», emitido entre as 10h00 e as 14h00. À sexta-feira, entre as 19h00 e as 21h00 apresenta o programa «Vale a Pena», sempre com um convidado de honra. Começou a sua carreira no boom das rádios piratas, em Lagos e conta hoje com um vasto auditória. Em 2010 conseguiu a proeza de ser homenageada onze vezes, do Minho ao Algarve. O livro sai sob chancela da «Arandis».

The launching is scheduled for October 18th at 4pm, at Monchique’s Auditório da Caixa de Crédito Agrícola. Fátima Peres is one of the most well-known radio voices in the Algarve. Her program «Rota do Sol» can be heard Mondays to Fridays, between 10am and 2pm. On Fridays from 7pm to 9pm she presents the talk show «Vale a Pena», always with a guest of honour. Peres started her career in Lagos, during the boom of the Portuguese pirate radios, and today she is followed by a vast audience. In 2010, she was honoured eleven times, from Minho to the Algarve. The book is published by Portimão-based «Arandis».

Ein geschriebenes Werk mit Herz beschreibt am ehesten die Literaturpremiere der wichtigsten Moderatorin des Regionalsenders „Radio Fóia“. Die Veröffentlichung findet am 18. Oktober um 16 Uhr im Auditorium der Caixa Agrícola in Monchique statt. Fátima Peres ist eine der wichtigsten Radiosprecherinnen in der Algarve. Mit dem Programm „Rota do Sul“ ist sie montags bis freitags von 10 bis 14 Uhr auf Sendung. Am Freitag zwischen 19 Uhr und 21 Uhr präsentiert sie das Programm „Vale a Pena“, bei dem jeweils ein Ehrengast anwesend ist.

O famoso “frango piri-piri” faz parte do imaginário da restauração do Algarve. Uma combinação que faz agora mais sentido já que há uma empresa local a produzir o imprescindível picante. Romeu dos Santos, 41 anos fundou a «Piri-Piri & Co» por brincadeira. Não demorou muito a tornar-se um negócio sério com uma área de produção agrícola com 15 000 m2, perto de Albufeira. Actualmente fornece uma gama de molhos, inéditos no mercado português, para mais de 250 clientes, entre restaurantes, supermercados e lojas gourmet.

De forma artesanal, a empresa é capaz de produzir de 5000 a 10 000 garrafas (50 ml) por mês. A «Piri-Piri & Co» conta ainda com um bistro nas Ferreiras, onde os mais corajosos podem provar a bifana mais picante do mundo…

The famous “chicken piri-piri” is one of the best-known Algarve’s dishes. And now it gets its own locally farmed and brewed piri-piri sauce. Founded by Romeu dos Santos, «Piri-Piri & Co» started just for fun. But it didn’t take long to become a serious business with a full 15,000 square metres dedicated farm located near Albufeira. Currently, almost all the peppers are transformed in sauces, unique in the Portuguese markets, for more than 250 clients, from restaurants to supermarkets and gourmet stores. Using artisanal methods, the company is capable of producing 5,000 to 10,000 bottles of sauce (50ml) per month.

Das macht nun noch mehr Sinn, denn jetzt gibt es eine neue lokale Firma, die das dafür unerlässliche scharfe Gewürz herstellt. “Em 2009 ofereceram-me uma árvore de malagueta para pôr junto à salsa. Cresceu e deu 1,5 kg de piri-piri. Para fazer o quê? Molho! Como? Pesquisei na Internet e descobri que havia muitas variedades de piri-piri. Comecei a trocar sementes com entusiastas do Brasil e ao fim de dois anos tinha 80 espécies à volta de casa!”, conta Romeu dos Santos, 41 anos. O sonho é ter 180 variedades das cerca de 4500 catalogadas. “Há uma imensidão de sabores, cores e formatos”, diz.

O seu pai tinha umas hortas sem uso, 1 hectare e meio, em Vale Carro, perto dos Olhos de Água, que Romeu dos Santos decidiu reactivar. Depois, “foi uma questão de crescimento” sustentável.

A primeira colheita profissional foi em 2011. Os frutos das primeiras 200 árvores foram imediatamente vendidos. “A minha ideia inicial era vender o produto fresco. No primeiro ano, fui aos supermercados mostrar as pimentas. Os sete primeiros ficaram logo com tudo. O problema é que como não somos um país muito consumidor de piri-piri, a saída é pouca”, conta. “Apesar de termos tido colónias na África e nas índias e de termos trazido as especiarias para a Europa no tempo dos Descobrimentos, não temos grande tradição no consumo de picante. O país que mais consome é a índia com 1 kg per capita por ano. No México a estatística é de 600 gramas.

No Brasil, 50 gramas”, contabiliza. A solução para escoar o stock de piri-piris foi a produção de molhos, pickles, e outros produtos alimentares picantes picantes. Em 2012, Romeu dos Santos tirou a necessária licença industrial na autarquia de Albufeira e submeteu também o seu projecto agrícola aos fundos do PRODER para a infra-estrutura da estufa (e rega) com cerca de 1000 m2. “Hoje trabalhamos com cerca de 15 espécies, mas temos umas 120 no total. “In 2009 I was offered a chilli plant to grow next to my parsley. It grew up and gave 1,5 kg of chillies peppers. What to do with all ? Sauce! How? I searched the Internet and found out that there are many varieties of piri-piri. I began exchanging seeds with other enthusiasts from Brazil and two years later, I had 80 species growing around my house!”, tells Romeu dos Santos. His dream is to grow 180 varieties of chilli peppers from the around 4500 catalogued varieties. “There is such an enormous amount of flavours colours and shapes!”

His father had some agricultural plots, about 1,5 hectares, in Vale Carro, near Olhos de Água, which Romeu decided to reactivate. Thereafter, “it was only a matter of growth” in a sustainable way.

The first professional harvest was in 2001. The fresh peppers from the first 200 trees sold out immediately. “My initial idea was to sell the fresh produce. The first seven supermarkets where I showed my fresh piri-piris immediately bought all the harvest. But the problem is that Portugal is not a great consumer, this is not a frequent buy on the Portuguese grocery lists”, he tells.

“Although we have had colonies in Africa and India, and have brought the spices to Europe at the time of the Portuguese Discoveries during the 15th century, we do not have a great tradition of spicy food. The world greatest consumers of chilli peppers are India, boosting 1 kilogram per capita per year. The statistics for Mexico point out 600 grams per capita, and Brazil 50 grams”, he reveals.

Romeu decided to use the stock of piri-piris to produce sauces, pickles and powders. In 2012, took a simple industrial licence at the Town Council of Albufeira and also submitted his agricultural project to the PRODER, applying for funding to build a 1,000 square meters greenhouse and watering system.

„2009 bekam ich einen Malagueta-Strauch (Capsicum frutescens) geschenkt, um diesen neben der Petersilie zu pflanzen. Er wuchs sehr gut und ergab 1.500 g Piri-piri-Schoten. Was sollte ich damit machen?

Sauce! Wie? Ich recherchierte im Internet und fand heraus, dass es viele verschiedene Arten von Piri-piri gibt. Daraufhin begann ich Saatgut mit Sammlern aus Brasilien zu tauschen und zwei Jahren später wuchsen bereits 80 verschiedene Sorten rund um das Haus“, erzählt Romeu dos Santos. Sein Traum ist es, 180 der etwa 4.500 katalogisierten Unterarten zu besitzen. „Es gibt unermesslich viele Aromen, Farben und Formen“, sagt er.

Sein Vater besaß einen ungenutzten Gemüsegarten - 1,5 Hektar in Vale Carro bei Olhos d’Agua - und Romeu dos Santos beschloss, diesen zu reaktivieren. Danach „war alles nur noch eine Frage des“ nachhaltigen „Wachstums“.

Die erste professionelle Ernte erfolgte 2011. Der Ertrag der ersten 200 Sträucher war schnell verkauft. „Zunächst wollte ich die Früchte frisch veräußern. Im ersten Jahr fuhr ich zu den Supermärkten und bot dort meine Pfefferschoten an. Die ersten sieben Läden nahmen mir den gesamten Bestand ab. Das einzige Problem ist, dass in unserem Land nicht so viel Piri-piri konsumiert wird und der Output daher eher gering ist“, berichtet er.

“Obwohl wir Kolonien in Afrika und Indien hatten und im Zeitalter der Eroberungen Gewürze von dort nach Europa brachten, gibt es bei uns keine große Tradition, scharf zu essen. Das Land mit dem höchsten Pro-KopfVerbrauch ist Indien mit einem Kilo im Jahr. In Mexiko liegt die Statistik bei 600 Gramm. In Brasilien sind es 50 Gramm“, verrät er.

Die Lösung für den Absatz des Lagerbestandes von Piri-piri war die Herstellung von Saucen, Pickles und anderen Piri-piri-Zubereitungen.

2012 beantragte Romeu dos Santos eine Erzeuger-Lizenz bei der Bezirksverwaltung Albufeira und reichte einen Antrag auf Projektförderung im Rahmen des PRODER-Programms ein, um auf circa 1000 m2 Gewächshäuser und ein Bewässerungssystem zu bauen.

“Heute arbeiten wir mit etwa 15 verschiedenen Sorten, aber insgesamt wachsen hier 120 Unterarten und ungefähr 8.000 Sträucher. Ich weiß nicht, wie ich es geschafft habe, aber es waren viele viele Opfer und sehr viel Arbeit dazu nötig“, erzählt er uns.

A missão de Romeu dos Santos é dar a conhecer a quantidade de espécies, com diferentes cores, formas, texturas e sabores que existem pelo mundo fora. Para todos aqueles que gostam de plantar, fazer molhos ou simplesmente “devorar” comida picante!

O tempo de produção é cerca de meio ano, começando entre Março e Abril e prolongando-se até Setembro e Outubro, se fizer calor. Na estufa, o cultivo prolonga-se por mais tempo, embora o frio dos primeiros meses do ano não favoreça estas plantas tropicais. A temperatura ideal ronda os 27º centigrados, aproximadamente a média do (curto) Verão no Algarve.

“Fazemos a plantação de forma seccionada, de modo a não ter muita produção ao mesmo tempo e não atrapalhar o processamento dos molhos. As colheitas são feitas uma vez por semana, segunda-feira, de manhã e à tarde”. O pico da produção é entre Maio e Setembro, “é quando elas dão o máximo”. Durante o inverno, na estufa, cada planta precisa de cerca de um litro de água, a cada três dias. Nos meses quentes, a necessidade duplica. No pico do Verão a estufa fica improdutiva, mas é útil para secar as pimentas.

O solo do terreno é argiloso, e embora estas plantas prefiram solos arenosos, Romeu dos Santos orgulha-se dos resultados obtidos até agora.

O próximo passo será “mecanizar alguns processos” de produção dos molhos, “como a esterilização, enchimento e rotulagem. É uma necessidade cujo investimento dependerá da exportação”. Este ano a procura aumentou bastante e Romeu dos Santos espera que a tendência de crescimento se mantenha.

“Today, we work with about 15 types, but we have 120 in total.

We have about 8,000 plants. I have no idea how I got to this point.

It involved a lot of sacrifice and hard work”, he adds.

The farming is carried out in three ways: in open air; in small partly-open greenhouses and inside the large greenhouse. Growing time rounds half a year, between March and April and going until September and October, if the weather is still warm.

Inside the greenhouse, the growing lasts longer, although the cold of the first months of the year don’t benefit these tropical plants.

The ideal temperature for growing chilli peppers rounds 27º, approximately the average of the (short) summer of the Algarve.

“We do a sectioned plantation, not to produce too much at the same time and not to compromise the whole process. The harvest is done once a week, on Mondays, from the morning to the afternoon”. The peak production is between May and September, “when we produce the most”.

During the winter, inside the greenhouse, each plant needs about one litre water every three days. In the warmer months, the need of water increases. During the peak of the summer, the greenhouse becomes unfruitful, but it is still useful to dry the chilies.

The type of the soil is clay, and although these plants prefer the sandy ones, Romeu dos Santos is proud of the results he has obtained so far.

Die Produktion erfolgt auf dreierlei Weise: im Freiland, in den Wintermonaten in mobilen Gewächshäusern und in geschlossenen Gewächshäusern. Die Haupterntezeit erstreckt sich über etwa ein halbes Jahr, beginnend im März/April und endet im September, oder im Oktober, wenn es sehr warm sein sollte.

Im Gewächshaus verlängert sich die Erntezeit, weil die Kälte in den ersten Monaten des Jahres ungünstig für die tropische Pflanze ist. Die Idealtemperatur liegt bei 27 Grad Celsius, das ist ungefähr die Durchschnittstemperatur des (kurzen) Sommers in der Algarve.

“Wir pflanzen abschnittweise, damit wir nicht zu viel auf einmal produzieren und nicht mit der Verarbeitung ins Hintertreffen geraten. Die Ernte erfolgt einmal in der Woche, immer montags von morgens bis abends. Die Spitzenzeiten sind von Mai bis September, „dann geben die Sträucher die mesiten Pfefferschoten.“ Im Winter benötigt jede Pflanze im Gewächshaus alle drei Tage einen Liter Wasser. In den wärmeren Monaten verdoppelt sich dieser Bedarf. Im Hochsommer wird nicht im Gewächshaus angebaut, es wird dann jedoch zum Trocknen der Pfefferschoten genutzt.

Der Boden des Grundstücks ist lehmhaltig und Romeu dos Santos ist deswegen besonders stolz auf das bisher erzielte Ergebnis, denn eigentlich bevorzugen die Pflanzen eher sandigen Boden.

Potência “nuclear” e bifanas com leite A «Piri-Piri & Co» produz algumas das variedades mais invulgares em Portugal, e também das mais potentes que se plantam hoje em todo o país, as chamadas “nucleares” - segundo a terminologia importada do Brasil.

A potência dos piri-piris é medida segundo a escala de Scoville, inventada pelo farmacêutico americano Wilbur Lincoln Scoville no início do século XX. Hoje é um standard na indústria alimentar e baseia-se na quantidade de capsaicina, o componente activo das pimentas.

A actual recordista do Guiness é a chamada “Carolina ripper” com 2,2 milhões de unidades na escala de Scoville, também plantada em Vale Carro.

Esta e outras pimentas extremas, como a “Trinidad scorpion” e a “Brasilian ghost pepper” já atraem muitos curiosos ao restaurante/bistro da «Piri-Piri & Co» nas Ferreiras.

“A experiência tem sido boa, estamos a explorar um mercado nicho. Em Portugal há muito gosto pelo piri-piri. Falta talvez um conhecimento mais profundo, e o apetite pelo picante não abrange toda a população. Mas apanhamos aqui aquelas pessoas que têm ou tiveram ligações a África e que conhecem o jidungo”, relata Rui Gordo, 41 anos, sócio de Romeu dos Santos e front man da casa. Comparativamente, “o piri-piri português normal tem tradicionalmente 50 000 unidades na escala de Scoville. Aqui esse valor é ultrapassado 20 a 30 vezes. É completamente diferente. Servimos paladares e potências completamente novas”. O maior desafio é a “bifana mais picante do mundo”, uma sandes tão artilhada que quem a quiser experimentar tem de assinar um termo de responsabilidade. Quem conseguir comer tudo, não paga. “Só temos 10 por cento de taxa de sucesso”, diz Rui Gordo que educou o paladar para o picante durante os 13 anos que viveu em Inglaterra, entre o caril indiano e comida jamaicana.

A bifana é feita com um potente preparado com o simpático apelido de “a manteiga”. Na realidade é um concentrado “feito com a polpa das pimentas mais potentes”. “E juntamos também pimentas frescas para aumentar a intensidade”.

The current Guiness record holder is type “Carolina Ripper”, with 2,2 million unities in the Scoville scale, also planted in Vale Carro.

This and other types such as the “Trinidad scorpion” and the “Brazilian ghost pepper” attract heat seekers and many curious to the restaurant/bistro in Ferreiras.

“We are having a good experience, as we set ourselves in this market niche. In Portugal, there are many piri-piri lovers.

Die Potenz wird nach der Scoville-Skala (Skala zur Abschätzung der Schärfe von Früchten der Paprikapflanze) gemessen, die der amerikanische Pharmazeut Wilbur Lincoln Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts erfand. Heute ist dies ein Standard, bei dem der Capsaicin-Anteil der Pfefferschoten gemessen wird, denn das ist der aktive Bestandteil, der den Schärfegrad ausmacht. Im Guinnessbuch der Rekorde hält die Unterart „Carolina Ripper“ mit 2,2 Millionen Einheiten auf der Scoville-Skala den aktuellen Rekord und auch diese Sorte wird in Vale Carro angebaut.

Diese und andere extrem scharfe Pfefferarten wie “Trinidad Scorpion” und “Brasilian Ghost Pepper“ bringen viele Neugierige in das Restaurant/ Bistro „Piri-Piri & Co“ in Ferreiras.

“Bisher haben wir positive Erfahrungen gemacht und sind dabei, einen Nischenmarkt zu entwickeln. In Portugal schätzt man das Piri-piri sehr.

Eventuell kennen einige es nicht und nicht die gesamte Bevölkerung verwendet es. Aber wir erreichen Teile der Bevölkerung, die Verbindung nach Afrika haben oder hatten und das Piri-piri unter dem Namen Jindungo kennen“, erzählt Rui Gordo (41), Geschäftspartner von Romeu dos Santos und Frontmann des Hauses.

Dennoch, “das normale portugiesische Piri-piri hat traditionell 50.000 Einheiten auf der Scoville-Skala. Hier wird dieser Wert zum Teil um das 20- bis 30-Fache überschritten. “A bifana mais picante do mundo é um desafio, não é uma refeição normal. Quando há pessoas que vem aqui e pedem duas, nós dizemos calma. É uma coisa extremamente potente, faz sofrer e é fora da escala que se conhece”, avisa Rui Gordo.

A empresa segue os métodos tradicionais de preparação de molhos. As pimentas frescas dão origem às massas, ou pickles de jalapeño, com conservantes e anti-oxidantes naturais como vinagre, sal e lima.

“É claro que isto é um desafio para a brincadeira. Não fazemos a estupidez de servir coisas como as que existem nos EUA, os buffalo wings, com 5 a 6 milhões de unidades na escala de Scoville”. Ainda assim, Rui Gordo admite que comer a bifana até ao fim é “doloroso” com sintomas como lágrimas e soluços. “O corpo diznos que estamos a arder e a sentir dor”. A receita foi recentemente “reforçada”.

“Como a capsaicina é solúvel em álcool, há muita gente que pensa que beber cerveja corta o efeito. Não corta. É um alívio imediato, mas de curta duração. O antídoto é o leite, ou produtos lácteos como o iogurte tiram aquela intensidade súbita”, revela.

Rui Gordo destaca também a recém-apresentada linha de molhos da «Piri-Piri & Co», que absorve quase a totalidade da produção de pimentas. “Utilizamos ingredientes que não são muito usuais, como polpa de manga, framboesas, e mel. O nosso campeão de vendas é o óleo de Scorpion. As variedades usadas no seu fabrico são a Trinidad Skorpion e Bhut jolokia, que têm em média, 1,1 milhão de unidades na escala de Scoville. Temos também o primeiro picante feito especialmente para crianças à base de cenoura e ananás”. E qual é o limite? “Nós já experimentamos a capsaicina em estado puro, com 16 milhões de unidades. É uma coisa que não sabe bem e é uma experiencia que não posso descrever como boa. Mas é um produto altamente comercializavel. Porquê? Porque enquanto usamos aqui pimentas frescas para fazer os nossos molhos, há produtos no mercado que contêm tudo menos a matéria-prima. São feitos apenas com este estrato”, conclui.

The recipe was recently “reinforced”.

“Since the capsaicin is soluble in alcohol, many believe that beer cuts out the heat. Not at all. It is just an immediate relief, of very short term.

The antidote is milk, or milky products like yogurt which remove that sudden intensity”, he reveals. Milk being the last drink you’d have along with a bifana. Rui Gordo also highlights the recently presented range of «Piri-Piri & Co» sauces, which take almost the whole farm production.

“We use unusual ingredients in our recipes, such as mango pulp, raspberries and honey. Our sales champion is the Scorpion oil. It is made out of the tridad skorpion e Bhut jolokia types, with an average 1,1 million unities in the Scoville scale. We also have the first ever hot sauce exclusively for children, based on carrots and pineapple”.

And what is the limit? “We have already tried pure capsaicin up to 16 million SHU. It is an experience that I cannot describe as something nice. But, here we just use fresh chilli peppers to power up our sauces, most of the ones you find in the market only use this extract”, he concludes.

Das Rezept wurde vor Kurzem noch einmal „verschärft“. „Da das Capsaicin in Alkohol löslich ist, glauben viele Leute, Bier würde den Effekt verringern. Das ist nicht so. Es bewirkt zwar eine Linderung, die jedoch nur von kurzer Dauer ist. Wirksame Gegenmittel sind Milch oder Milchprodukte wie Joghurt, der die Intensität sofort vermindert“, verrät er.

Rui Gordo weist außerdem auf das kürzlich vorgestellte SaucenRepertoire hin, für das fast der gesamte Pfeffervorrat verbraucht wurde. „Wir verwenden zum Teil ungewöhnliche Zutaten, wie MangoFruchtfleisch, Erdbeeren und Honig. Unser Verkaufs-Champion ist das „Óleo de Scorpion“, mit „tridad skorpion“ und „Bhut jolokia“ das durchschnittlich 1,1 Millionen Einheiten auf der Scoville-Skala erreicht. Wir bieten auch das erste pikante Gewürz für Kinder an, das auf Karotten und Ananas basiert.“ Wo aber liegt das Limit? “Wir haben mit Capsaicin im Reinzustand mit 16 Millionen Einheiten experimentiert. Das schmeckt nicht gut und ist keine Erfahrung, die ich als positiv bezeichnen würde.

Während bei uns nur frische Pfefferschoten für die Herstellung der Saucen verwendet werden, gibt es Produkte auf dem Markt, in denen alles Mögliche enthalten ist, nur nicht der eigentliche Rohstoff. Sie enthalten lediglich einen Extrakt“, schließt er.

É um design livre (open source), isso significa que qualquer pessoa pode replicar esta peça, desde que esteja disposta a investir.

Foi o que fizemos. Já existe um fabricante nos Estados Unidos da América, e cá na Europa, somos nós os únicos e os primeiros. É um paradoxo: uma coisa muito simples, e ao mesmo tempo muito avançada”, explica Luís Mangorrinha, 30 anos.

“A característica que distingue este perfil é que tem 2 ângulos de 45 graus, em forma de “V” que servem de carris para encaixar rodas.

Isto permite que seja utilizado numa grande variedade de máquinas e equipamentos cujas peças precisem de algum movimento”, acrescenta Miguel Carvalho.

“A nossa ideia original era utilizar esta tecnologia em som e fotografia, que são as nossas áreas-base. Contudo, temos verificado que as possibilidades de mercado são muito mais vastas do que isso.”

Tudo começou quando Luís Mangorrinha, fotógrafo, quis fazer um slider, isto é uma espécie de carril sobre o qual desliza uma câmara fotográfica ou de vídeo, com grande estabilidade, num determinado ângulo. É um acessório muito utilizado na indústria do multimédia.

“Fizemos algumas experiências em madeira, em conjunto.

Entretanto, descobrimos que essa peça, o V-slot, é fácil de construir, é fácil de cortar, é fácil de encaixar, é fácil de adaptar rodas. A partir daí, descobrimos que isto tem muitas aplicações possíveis”, diz.

Por exemplo, é uma peça muito útil para quem queira construir uma impressora 3D ou uma máquina de corte CNC (computer controlled cutting machine) em casa.

“Toda a gente quer ter uma em casa. Até a medicina está a usar impressoras 3D para desenvolver próteses”, diz Luís Mangorrinha.

“O nosso objectivo é fornecer aos entusiastas, uma peça que se adapta à criatividade de cada um. Quer para quem faz as suas engenhocas em casa, mas também aos profissionais que desenham equipamento industrial”, exemplifica Miguel Carvalho.

“Os EUA têm um espírito mais empreendedor, estão muito virados para essas coisas do Do it yourself (DIY). Mas a Alemanha e Inglaterra não estão muito atrás”.

O blogue internacional especializado «3dprintingindustry.com» já anunciou a «Rat Rig Hardware» como uma revelação do ano.

A empresa é uma aposta com risco zero, sem capitais emprestados e de crescimento gradual e sustentável, segundo os fundadores.

Para arrancar, foi necessário fazer a matriz do V-slot. A produção das peças é feita por uma empresa de Braga, que tem uma mini-filial na zona industrial de Loulé. Para já, o V-slot é comercializado em tamanho único, 20x20 milímetros, em duas versões: cor preta ou alumínio bruto.

Futuramente, poderá haver outras medidas, como 20x40mm e 20x60mm, úteis para aplicações mais pesadas.

Como qualquer start-up, a «Rat Rig Hardware» ainda está a apalpar terreno. “Em Portugal o mercado é pequeno, mas está a abrir”, diz Miguel Carvalho, referindo-se à comunidade “maker”, pessoas que gostam de fazer coisas, sobretudo a nível de electrónica, robótica, e impressão 3D. A grande aposta é o mercado europeu. Para além da venda directa na loja on-line, “temos propostas da Grécia, Polónia e França para distribuidores do nosso V-slot”, revela Luís Mangorrinha.

Até ao momento, a única concorrência está nos EUA, sujeita a taxas de alfândega, demoras e burocracias. Para além destes constrangimentos, “sabemos que o fabricante dos EUA tem dificuldade em responder às encomendas e é frequente haver rupturas de stock, às vezes com várias semanas de lista de espera. Nós ainda não temos muita experiência com a fábrica que nos fornece, ainda estamos a calcular os tempos de produção. Mas tudo faremos para evitar essas situações.”

“Um dos nossos objectivos é que cada vez que alguém nos compra material, pedirmos para nos enviarem vídeos e fotografias daquilo que está a desenvolver. A ideia é criar uma comunidade maker e fazê-la crescer”, diz Mangorrinha.

Futuramente, a empresa vai apostar em kits pré-feitos, “a pessoa monta o que quiser, tipo Ikea” com soluções sobretudo para a área do som, imagem e multimédia.

“A V-slot is basically an aluminum profile. It is an open source design, which means that anyone willing to invest can mass-produce it. This is what we are doing. There is already a manufacturer in the United States of America, but so far, we are the first ones in Europe to produce the V-Slot rail. Actually, it is a paradox of its own: something very simple, yet highly-advanced”, explains Luis Mangorrinha.

“What makes this rail so unique and different from everything else, is that it features 2 angles of 45 degrees in one piece, to fit the wheels.

This feature is the key for a great variety of machines and equipment that require a steady movement”, adds Miguel Carvalho.

“Our idea was originally to use this technology in our working areas - sound and photography. However, we understood that the market possibilities are much broader.”

It all started when Luis Mangorinha, a photographer who wanted to create a his own slider - a kind of a monorail where you can mount a camera for stable, silky-smooth panning shooting - widely used in the multimedia industry.

“We did a few experiences with wood. Meanwhile, we discovered that the V-slot rail is easy-built, easy to cut, easy to fit, easy to adapt wheels into. We found that this is such a versatile piece”, he says. For instance, the rail is extremely useful for anyone who wants to build a homemade 3D printer, or an affordable computer controlled cutting machine (CNC). “Nowadays, everyone wants to have this at home. Even Medical Scientists are using 3D printers to develop new and advanced prosthesis”, says Luís Mangorrinha.

“Our aim is to provide this rail for the enthusiasts, which suits everyone’s creativity. Either the geeks doing their own gadgets at home, or professional designers of industrial equipment”, exemplifies Miguel Carvalho.

The specialized international blog «3dprintingindustry.com» claimed the «Rat Rig Harware» as the revelation of the year. According to its founders, the company is a zero-risk start-up, no borrowed capital and designed for sustainable growth.

The first challenge was creating the matrix for V-slot rail. The massproduced pieces are made by a company from Braga, which has a small subsidiary in the industrial area of Loulé.

For now, the V-slot is only marketed in one size (20x20 millimeters), in two versions: black coloured or in plain aluminum grey.

In future, other measures shall be available, like 20x40mm and 20x60mm, for heavy-duty applications.

Like any other start-up company, «Rat Rig Hardware» is still finding it own path. “The market in Portugal is small, but it is growing fast”, says Miguel Carvalho, referring to the so-called “maker” community, people who like to make by their own means high-tech stuff, such as electronics, robotics, 3D printers and so on.

It is linked to the university, but open to the public in general. “There you find a great mix of people, such as mechanical engineers, computer experts, programmers, all sorts of geeks creating things at home”, he says. Anyway, «Rat Rig Hardware» aims for the European market.

In most countries, importing V-Slots from the US is an expensive hassle. Besides direct selling on the online store, “we receive calls from Greece, Poland and France wanting to be retailers of our V-slot”, reveals Luis Mangorrinha.

Orders from the USA are subject to customs fees, delays and bureaucracy. In addition to these embarrassments, “we know that the our American competitor is struggling to comply with their orders.

Stock-outs and costumer waiting queues happen very often. We are not yet familiar with our supplier , and we are still calculating production deadlines and all that. But we will do everything to prevent such issues from happening”.

“One of our goals is that whenever anyone buys stuff from us, we will ask for videos and photos of what they are developing. The idea is to unite the “maker” community”, says Mangorrinha.

In the nearest future, the company will also invest in pre-fabricated kits, for sound, image and multimedia. “Anyone can do it, just like the IKEA stuff”.

„Das Teil heißt V-slot. Im Grunde ist es eine Aluminium-Schiene. Sein Design ist nicht durch ein Patent geschützt (Open Source) und darf von Jedem nachgebaut werden, der bereit ist, in die Herstellung zu investieren. Genau das haben wir getan. Es gibt bereits einen Hersteller in den USA, aber hier in Europa sind wir die Ersten und Einzigen. Es ist ein Paradoxon: ein ganz einfaches und zugleich sehr komplexes Produkt“, erklärt Luís Magorrinha. „Die spezielle Karakteristik dieser Profile machen zwei 45-Grad-Winkeln in Form eines “V” aus, auf denen Räder gleiten können, was wiederum zu vielfältigen Einsatzmöglichkeiten beim Bau von beweglichen Maschinen und Objekten führt“, fügt Miguel Carvalho hinzu. „Unsere ursprüngliche Idee war der Einsatz dieser Technologie in den Bereichen Tontechnik und Fotografie, unseren eigentlichen Betätigungsfeldern. Dann jedoch stellten wir fest, dass die Einsatzmöglichkeiten dieses Produkts weitaus vielfältiger sind.“ Alles begann damit, dass der Fotograf Luís Magorrinha einen “Slider” bauen wollte, eine Art Schiene, auf der eine Foto- oder Videokamera in einem bestimmten Winkel bei hoher Stabilität vorwärtsbewegt werden kann. Dieses Hilfsmittel wird in der Industrie und im Bereich Multimedia sehr häufig eingesetzt. „Gemeinsam machten wir einige Versuche mit Holz. Dann stießen wir auf dieses Teil, den „V-slot“, der einfach herzustellen ist, sich leicht zuschneiden lässt, einfach einzufügen ist und leicht an die Räder angepasst werden kann.

Dann fanden wir heraus, dass es für das Profil viele Einsatzmöglichkeit gibt“, sagt er.

Es ist zum Beispiel ein sehr nützliches Produkt für jemanden, der bei sich zu Hause einen 3-D-Drucker oder eine Schneidemaschine mit einer computergestützten numerischen Steuerung (Computerized Numerical Control - CNC) bauen will. „Jeder will einen 3-D-Drucker haben. Sogar in der Medizin kommen sie bei der Entwicklung von Prothesen zum Einsatz“, sagt Luís Mangorrinha. „Unser Ziel ist es, Hobbykonstrukteure mit einem Produkt zu beliefern, das sich an die Kreativität des Einzelnen anpasst. Es richtet sich an Leute, die bei sich zu Hause ein bestimmtes Maschinchen bauen aber auch an professionelle Konstrukteure von Industrieanlagen“, veranschaulicht Miguel Carvalho. „In den USA ist der Unternehmergeist viel verbreiteter und der Do it yourselfGedanke präsenter. Deutschland und England liegen allerdings auch ziemlich weit vorn“, sagt er. Der internationale Spezial-Blog “3dprintingindustry.com” hat die Rat Rig Hardware bereits als Entwicklung des Jahres bezeichnet. Das Unternehmen geht kein Risiko ein, hat keine Kredite aufgenommen und will, so die Gründer, langsam und nachhaltig wachsen.

Um zu starten, musste eine Matrix für den “V-slot” hergestellt werden. Eine Firma aus Braga mit einer Mini-Filiale im Industriegebiet von Loulé produziert die Profile. Bisher wird der „V-slot“ nur in einer Einheitsgröße von 20 x 20 mm und in zwei Versionen - schwarz und in der gewohnten Farbe des Aluminiums - angeboten.

Zukünftig könnte es auch andere Maße, wie z.B. 20 x 40 mm und 20 x 60 mm für den Einsatz bei höheren Gewichtsbelastungen geben.

Wie jedes Start-up-Unternehmen, sondiert die Rat Rig Hardware derzeit das Terrain. „Der portugiesische Markt ist klein, aber er öffnet sich“, sagt Miguel Carvalho und bezieht sich damit auf die Community der Macher, auf Leute die experimentieren, vor allem mit Elektronik, Robotertechnik und 3-D-Drucker.

Die große Herausforderung ist der europäische Markt. Neben dem Direktverkauf über den Onlineshop, „haben wir Angebote von Vertriebsfirmen aus Griechenland, Polen und Frankreich bekommen, die den „V-slot“ dort vermarkten wollen“, verrät Luís Magorrinha.

Bisher sitzt die einzige Konkurrenz in den USA und unterliegt Zöllen, langen Lieferzeiten und bürokratischen Hürden. „Wir wissen, dass der US-Hersteller“ neben diesen Zwängen, „Schwierigkeiten hat, den Bestellungen nachzukommen, die Bestände oft ausverkauft sind und häufig wochenlang auf die Lieferung gewartet werden muss. Wir haben noch keine Erfahrungen mit der Fabrik, die uns beliefert, und kalkulieren zur Zeit die Produktionszeiten, werden jedoch alles dafür tun, derartige Situationen zu vermeiden.“ „Eines unserer Vorhaben ist die Bitte an jeden unserer Kunden, uns Videos oder Fotos zu senden, die deren Konstruktionen präsentieren. Wir wollen, eine „Macher“-Community entstehen lassen“, sagt Mangorrinha.

Zukünftig will die Firma auf vorgefertigte Bausätze setzen, „die, ähnlich wie IKEA-Module, von der jeweiligen Person je nach Wunsch zusammengebaut werden“ und vor allem Lösungsmöglichkeiten für die Bereiche Tontechnik, Bildgestaltung und Multimedia bieten.

Mudámos de gerência, mas não mudámos a filosofia de quase 20 anos e mais de 800 edições impressas do jornal Algarve123. Temos novo preço de capa (1,50€), nova periodicidade e um desconto de 20 por cento na tabela geral de publicidade. Em 2015, vamos introduzir um novo idioma e já arrancamos com o projecto de um novo canal on-line, em fase experimental. Novidades com olhos postos no futuro que o novo editor, Paulo Lopes, apresentou em conferência pública no passado domingo, 5 de Outubro, em Portimão, durante a feira internacional «BLIP - Better Living in Portugal».

We come back with a lower cover price (1,50€), a fortnightly full-colour edition and a plus discount of 20 per cent in all advertising. For 2015, one more language will be added to all our editorial scope, and our new online TV channel is streaming, yet experimental. All these novelties for the close future were presented by our new publisher, Paulo Lopes, last Sunday, October the 5th, in a public conference during the international fair «BLIP – Better Living in Portugal» in Portimão.

Die Geschäftsleitung ist in neue Hände übergegangen, die Philosophie der Zeitung Algarve 123 ist jedoch auch nach fast 20 Jahren und 800 gedruckten Ausgaben die Gleiche geblieben. Der Preis ist neu (1,50 €), die Erscheinungsfrequenz hat sich geändert und es gibt einen Preisnachlass von 20 Prozent auf alle Anzeigenpreise.

2015 wird eine weitere Sprache hinzukommen, ein neuer Online-Kanal durchläuft bereits seine erste Testphase.

Das alles sind zukunftsweisende Neuigkeiten, die der neue Herausgeber Paulo Lopes am vergangenen Sonntag 5. Oktober im Rahmen der internationalen Messe „BLIP – Better Living in Portugal“ in Portimão vorstellte.

Conjugar um jornal impresso com um novo canal audiovisual, sobre o Algarve, com conteúdos próprios e também, conteúdos de terceiros, é uma ideia inovadora que já está a germinar.

“A versão beta do nosso canal Algarve123.tv foi desenvolvido ao longo das últimas três semanas”, revelou o editor Paulo Lopes perante uma plateia animada na feira BLIP. “Achamos que este tipo de plataforma faz sentido para o Algarve.

Por exemplo, quem pesquisar esta palavra-chave no youtube ou vimeo ou mesmo no Dailymotion, ou clipsyndicate, terá como resultado milhares de vídeos, até encontrar o que realmente lhe interessa ver.”

A ideia é reunir num único canal, os melhores vídeos que têm a ver com a região, de forma organizada, e até com playlists temáticas.

“Os municípios, as associações, clubes e colectividades do Algarve podem ter aqui uma plataforma muito importante para se apresentarem e para mostrarem o trabalho que fazem todos os dias”, explicou.

“As universidades têm tantos projectos para mostrar e podem encontrar aqui um espaço gratuito, de grande visibilidade, focalizado no Algarve”.

Isto porque a plataforma está aberta à participação de todos.

“Qualquer pessoa pode inserir os vídeos de que gosta, os vídeos da associação a que pertence, do hobby ou do desporto que pratica”, e que queira partilhar. Pode ser em anonimato ou através de um registo (membership), de forma simples e fácil. Mas não só.

Brevemente, o canal Algarve123.tv vai apresentar conteúdos jornalísticos audiovisuais originais, “temas que não aparecem nos grandes canais de média”, tirando partido de uma tecnologia inovadora de locução para vários idiomas.

E em termos comerciais? “Esta nova plataforma vai permitir aos nossos clientes inserirem a sua publicidade através de anúncios “pre-roll ads”, ou seja, clips promocionais curtos - normalmente até 10 segundos de duração - que são apresentados antes da visualização dos vídeos do novo canal Algarve123.tv”, explicou.

Segundo Paulo Lopes, “a vantagem é que isto vai permitir-nos segmentar muito bem a publicidade, de modo a maximizar o investimento dos nossos clientes, e ao mesmo tempo, é interessante para quem está visualizar os conteúdos”.

Os “pre-roll ads” podem ser produzidos pela equipa da casa, “desde a sua filmagem, à publicação final, a preços muito competitivos” que poderão ser complementados com a publicidade na edição impressa do jornal Algarve 123.

“O nosso objectivo é ultrapassar as 20 000 visualizações diárias nas próximas semanas. Para já, este canal on-line não é uma fonte de rendimento. É sobretudo um veículo para promover as empresas que trabalham connosco. E outras que queiram ser nossas parceiras”, considerou.

“Para o arranque, contamos com dois parceiros, a agência de viagens Goibéria e a imobiliária CasaIbéria”, revelou.

“Todos são bem-vindos e encorajamos a participação. Quantos mais membros tivermos connosco, mais e melhor será a nossa presença na internet, e logo, mais poderemos oferecer a todos os interessados em participar neste projecto”.

Relativamente ao jornal Algarve 123, vai sair quinzenalmente, totalmente impresso a cores. Tem actualmente 28,399 utilizadores registados na base de dados e imprime uma média de 1500 classificados por edição. O website tem um tráfego médio de 226 000 visitas mensais. O perfil de facebook tem 7717 fãs e continua a crescer. Em 2015 vai sair com um novo layout e mais um idioma: francês.

“Sabendo que o Algarve é um sítio paradisíaco para se viver e trabalhar. Queremos dar voz e ser a voz desta região. Uma voz de quem cá vive, portugueses ou estrangeiros. Uma voz para os jovens e para as gerações mais velhas. Uma voz para a inovação, para o turismo, para a natureza, e para os nossos empresários. E claro, queremos continuar a divulgar a cultura do Algarve, que tem sido a nossa bandeira nos últimos 20 anos”, concluiu.

To combine a printed paper with a new TV channel, all-round about the Algarve, with self-produced and third-party contents as well, is an innovative idea that soon will be reality.

“The beta version of Algarve123.tv channel has been developed during the last three weeks”, said newcomer publisher Paulo Lopes, engaging his audience at the BLIP. “We believe that this type of platform really makes sense to the Algarve. For example, anyone who searches for this key-word on youtube or vimeo or even onDailymiotion, or clipsyndicate, will get thousands of videos to browse, until finding what one really wants to see”.

The idea is to join in only one single place, the best videos about the region, in an organized, intuitive way supported by the theme playlists.

“The 16 municipalities, as well as the local associations, clubs and other groups of the Algarve will find here an important platform to present themselves and show their everyday work”, he explained.

“Our universities have so many interesting projects going on.

Here they can find an open, free, uncomplicated on-line channel, focused on the Algarve and aiming for great visibility”.

Indeed, anyone can have a go and try it out. “You can insert the videos you like, the videos of your association, team or company, the videos of your hobby or the sports you like”. This can be done as an anonymous contribution or registering as a user (membership).

Soon, Algarve123.tv channel will feature original journalistic reports, “about themes and subjects that usually aren’t covered by the great media”. Our own videos will be dubbed in different languages, as we plan to use an innovative voice over technology.

And what about commercial sustainability? “This new platform will allow our clients to insert their publicity through pre-roll ads – very short promotional clips not longer than 10 seconds – which will be presented before any of the videos inside Algarve123.tv are fully displayed”, he explained.

According to Paulo Lopes, “the advantage is that this will allow us to segment publicity orders very well. We’ll be able to maximize our client’s investments, and, simultaneously, to present interesting ads for the viewers”.

“Our aim is to surpass the 20,000 daily views in the following weeks. For now, this online channel is not a source of income. It is mainly a vehicle to promote not only the companies that work with us, but also those that want to be our partners”, he considers.

The “pre-roll ads” can be produced by our team, “from filming to the final publication, for very competitive prices”. The “pre-roll ads” can be bundled with the advertising in the printed edition of the Algarve123 newspaper.

“To start up, we count with the support of two partners: the travel agency Goibéria and the Real Estate Agency CasaIbéria”, he reveals.

“Everyone is welcome and we encourage public participation. The more registered members and video uploads we get, the stronger and better will be our internet footprint. Therefore, the more we can offer to our partners and members”.

Regarding the Algarve123 newspaper, it is now out fortnightly, all pages in full colour. We have presently 28,399 users in our database. We print an average of up to 1,500 classified ads per edition. The website has an average of 226,000 monthly visits. Our facebook profile has 7717 fans and the number keeps rising. In 2015, it will be presented with a new layout and a new language: French.

“Considering that the Algarve is a paradise to live and work, we want to give voice and be the voice of this region; the voice of those who live here, either Portuguese or foreign; the voice for the youngsters and the elder generations; the voice of innovation, tourism, nature and of our entrepreneurs. And, of course, we want to continue to promote the cultural values of the Algarve, which has been our motto in the last 20 years”, he concluded.

Die Verbindung einer gedruckten Zeitung mit einem neuen audiovisuellen Sender, der sich mit Eigenproduktionen und Inhalten von Dritten, spezifischen Themen der Algarve widmet, das ist eine innovative Idee, die sich bereits mitten im Entstehungsprozess befindet. „Die Betaversion unseres Senders Algarve123.tv wurde in den letzten drei Wochen entwickelt“, enthüllte Herausgeber Paulo Lopes vor interessierten Zuhörern auf der Messe BLIP. „Wir glauben, dass diese Art von Plattform sinnvoll für die Algarve ist.

Wer beispielsweise den Suchbegriff bei Youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion oder Clipsyndicate eingibt, bekommt als Ergebnis tausende Videos vorgeschlagen, bevor er findet, was ihn wirklich interessiert.“ Die besten Videos, in denen es um die Region Algarve geht, sollen auf einem Kanal organisiert und in thematischen Playlists gebündelt werden. „Für die 16 Bezirke, die Vereine, die Klubs und für andere Gruppen aus der Algarve, kann dieser Kanal eine wichtige Plattform sein, um sich zu präsentieren und die tägliche Arbeit zu zeigen“, erklärte er. „An den Universitäten gibt es viele zeigenswerte Projekte. Auch sie finden hier einen kostenlosen Raum, wo sie eine weitreichende, auf die Algarve fokussierte Sichtbarkeit erzielen können.“ An dieser Plattform kann sich jeder beteiligen. „Man kann dort Videos einstellen, die einem gefallen - Videos über den Verein, dem man angehört, über ein Hobby oder über eine Sportart, die man praktiziert - und die man mit anderen teilen möchte. Das kann auf ganz simple und einfache Weise entweder anonym oder über eine Registrierung (Mitgliedschaft) geschehen. Aber das ist noch längst nicht alles.

Demnächst wird der Internetsender Algarve123.tv eigene audiovisuelle journalistische Beiträge präsentieren, „zu Themen, die nicht bei den großen Medien vorkommen“, wobei künftig eine innovative Technologie genutzt werden soll, um die Beiträge in diverse Sprachen zu übertragen.

Und in kommerzieller Hinsicht? „Die neue Plattform bietet unseren Kunden die Möglichkeit Werbeanzeigen in Form von „Pre-roll Ads“ zu schalten, das heißt als kurze normalerweise maximal 10-sekündige Werbeclips, die jeweils vor den Videos des neuen Internetsenders Algarve123.tv präsentiert werden“, erläuterte er. „Der Vorteil ist“ laut Lopes, „dass wir die Werbung sehr gut bestimmten Segmenten zuordnen können und auf diese Weise gleichzeitig die Investition unserer Kunden maximieren und das Ganze für den Betrachter unserer Inhalte interessant machen.“ Die „Pre-roll Ads” kann das hauseigene Team “von den Dreharbeiten bis zur Veröffentlichung, zu sehr günstigen Preisen“ selbst produzieren und die Schaltung einer Anzeige in der gedruckten Ausgabe der Zeitung Algarve 123 ermöglicht die Komplettierung der Werbemaßnahme. „Unser Ziel ist es, in den nächsten Wochen auf mehr als 20.000 Visualisierungen pro Tag zu kommen. Momentan ist der Online-Sender noch keine Einnahmequelle. Er ist vor allem ein Mittel, um für die Unternehmen zu werben, die mit uns zusammenarbeiten, aber auch für andere Firmen, die mit uns Partnerschaften eingehen wollen“, glaubt er. „Zum Start können wir zunächst auf zwei Partner zählen: die Reiseagentur Goibéria und das Immobilienunternehmen CasaIberia“, verrät er. „Jeder ist willkommen und wir ermutigen alle, sich zu beteiligen. Je mehr Mitglieder bei uns mitmachen, um so besser wird unsere Präsenz im Internet und um so mehr können wir folglich auch allen jenen bieten, die Interesse haben, sich an diesem Projekt zu beteiligen.“ Was die Zeitung Algarve 123 betrifft: Sie wird künftig vierzehntägig und komplett in Farbe herauskommen. Derzeit sind 28.399 Nutzer in unserer Datenbank registriert und in jeder Ausgabe erscheinen durchschnittlich 1.500 Anzeigen. Die Internetseite hat etwa 226.000 Besucher im Monat. 7717 Fans folgen unserer Facebook-Seite und die Zahl nimmt stetig zu. 2015 wird die Zeitung in neuem Layout erscheinen und eine weitere Sprache kommt hinzu: Französisch. „Uns ist bewusst, dass die Algarve ein paradiesischer Ort zum Leben und Arbeiten ist. Wir wollen ihr eine Stimme verleihen und die Stimme der Region sein. Eine Stimme für Leute, die hier leben, für Portugiesen und Ausländer. Eine Stimme für die Jugend und für die ältere Generation. Eine Stimme für Innovation, Tourismus und Natur und für unsere Unternehmer. Und natürlich wollen wir weiterhin für die Kultur der Algarve werben, denn das ist in den letzten 20 Jahren stets unser wichtigstes Anliegen gewesen.“
