YOUR PRESIDENT

a message from your PRESIDENT HEY SEALS! Hey seals! It’s your president here! I hope all of you guys enjoyed your summer vacation! Even though school started and we all got more busy, I hope that you all can still attend events. It’s a nice way of taking a break from school even though we just started haha! So come out and enjoy the upcoming events! Your cabinet is trying to find and create more events near us so that it will be easier to attend! I know club rush isn’t until around October but if you have any friends that are interested in key club, BRING THEM OUT TO EVENTS WITH YOU! Everyone is welcome in this club! I can’t wait to see all of you at future events and meetings! If you have any questions, you can come and ask me! I’ll always be here for you guys!

A HELLO BARK

a hello bark from the news editor

HEY KEY CLUBBERS, Can you believe that school has started already!? Yes, the dreaded homework and tests have come back again to haunt your dreams. But let’s not forget that school is where you make new friends, hang out with old ones, and even join amazing organizations like Key Club. Make sure to tell all of your friends and especially freshmen to join our club! If you know anyone who might be interested in becoming a Key Clubber, invite them to the events! SPREAD THE WORD BECAUSE THE MORE THE KEY CLUBBERS, THE GREATER THE IMPACT WE MAKE! Even though school will always be the number one priority, try your best to attend the service events. I’m looking foward to a great year and I hope to see all of ya’ll sealy cute faces around!

JULY DCM an evening of service

DCMs are events I usually would not attend and, truth be told, I only went to the July DCM to purchase a seal cap. Icebreakers are not my favorite thing, but the seal hat was too good to pass up. When I arrived, the event started off with icebreakers, and on the contrary to what I first thought of them, they were honestly not that bad. The games help you meet new people and make friends. Once the photo scavenger hunt started, the atmosphere was light and fun. Friends gathered around, taking photos of each

other, posing the way the list told them to. Food was sold, including boba and fruit kebobs. Not only was it fun, but we created banners for retired veterans to hang in their house. We traced and cut out letters that were strung onto pieces of yarn and embellished them with glitter. Overall, the event was an extremely fun experience that allowed many to create new lasting friendships. IT’S SAFE TO SAY, DCMS ARE EVENTS I WILL BE ATTENDING MORE OFTEN. JOSHUA TONG “When they announced me for the award, I was astonished and overwhelmed with happiness. I didn’t know what to say or how to react. So I just kissed Dylan on the cheek <3”

EMERALD NECKLACE

EMERALD NECKLACE

At the Emerald Necklace Cleanup, we checked each tree to see if it was in good conditions to PRESERVE THE ENVIRONMENT. The advisors had us split into groups of four and gave us plenty of tree surveys to fill out. After we split into groups, an advisor explained step by step on how we should fill out the surveys and what materials we should use. Each group would have an advisor lead them to the trees that were labeled for inspection. We compiled data by taking measurements and pictures so the US National Forestry could present California grants as a gift for being ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY. It was my first time attending Emerald Necklace and it was a pleasant experience since I got to serve my community while hanging out with my friends. Courtney Sy | Junior | Tech Editor

STUFF-A-BUS

STUFF-AAt Stuff-A-Bus, we stood outside of Walmart to help pass out flyers. These flyers tell people that by buying school supplies, they could HELP A CHILD IN NEED that could not afford them. We also went inside of Walmart to promote the event by going around to ask people and offering them school supplies to add to their shopping list. It was a fun event because we got to meet and work with other people from Kiwin’s and other keyclubbers! Priscilla Cahyono | Junior | Vice President

BEACH BONANZA

R13 BEACH BONA

Beach cleanup was the final event for the region during summer! Summer was coming to an end and this cleanup was a way to bring everyone together to have a good time meeting new people “it was a fun way to get the and spending school year started with GAMES, time on the pier/ beach. The SERVICE, AND COOPERATION” course of the event started with ice breakers and soon transitioned to our amazing SUMMER OLYMPICS GAMES. Multiple teams competed to win the grand prize of the pineapple and watermelon freshly picked by Dylan’s hands himself. After the games, we spent some time gathering as much trash as we could and headed under the pier for some photoshoots.

BEACH BONANZA

ANZA

We then had 3 hours of free time to spend with our LIONFISH FAMILY and enjoy the wonderful beach. This was my first and last region beach cleanup and it was a fun way to get the school year started with games, service, and cooperation. This was an amazing event brought by the amazing region team and everyone in between! David Lam | Senior | Historian
