A HELLO BARK

a hello bark

from the news editor

Hey Key Clubbers, Finally!! Summer is here! I’m sure all of you guys are more than ready to leave school and spend your summer vacation relaxing in peace. Everyone needs a well-deserved break from tests, homework, and all the hardships that come with being a student. We all have our own expectations of how we want this summer to go. As for me, my friends and I created our own bucket list of all the places we want to explore before summer ends. These next two months are definitely going to be an exciting adventure filled with ice cream and latenight gossips. :) While we, as a group, make a difference in our community through service projects, each of us also make an impact on each other through the friendships created from being in Key Club. Don’t be afraid to connect with other Key Clubbers because THE BONDS THAT YOU MAKE FROM THIS CLUB ARE ONES THAT YOU’LL NEVER LET GO OF. Whether you decide to spend your summer hanging out with your friends, traveling across the world, or simply relaxing at home, don’t forget that community service is something that can be done year-round. Please continue to show your Key Club spirit and dedication to serving the community even during the summer. Enjoy your break seals!

YOUR PRESIDENT

a message from your PRESIDENT Hey seals! It’s summer! But that doesn’t mean that service has ended, it goes throughout the entire year! So come out and enjoy the upcoming events! For those that don’t know me yet, I’m Felicia Kuo, and I proudly serve as your 2016-2017 president. Some little things about me are that I’m a koreaboo, I love dogs, and I love laughing. I’m now a junior and I’ve been in key club for 2, going on, 3 years. Key club made a huge impact on my life. I wouldn’t be who I am without it. I love this organization that’s filled with LEADERSHIP, SPIRIT, COMPASSION, AND SERVICE. We are currently 3 months into our term and we are doing great! I can’t wait to work with you all for this upcoming year! I’ll be looking forward to seeing all of you amazing people at the awesome events this summer! If you have any questions, you can come and ask me! I’ll always be here for you guys!

A SLICE OF SERVICE

The May DCM was really fun. We did many cool activities during the event. We learned to make leis for the upcoming Region Picnic. We also made Mother’s Day Cards. During the DCM, we also did the Running Man challenge and challenged the whole Region 13 to participate! Later we had officers from different schools get pied. Each pie was worth $1 to help raise money for the Eliminate Project. This

was a really cool event because we were able to do so many activities. However, pieing officers like myself was probably the best part because it was a great and delicious way to raise money for such an important organization. Overall, I really enjoyed this DCM and I can’t wait for many more to come.

BRANDON YI I am very thankful and honored to receive the Member of the Month award. My personal advice to the key clubbers is ENJOY THE MOMENT, BUT KNOW THAT EVERY LITTLE THING COUNTS AS WELL. I really want to thank Dylan and Brianna Chang for the motivation of getting me back into Key Club this year. Shoutouts to William Lee, Joshua Tong, Sarah Chun, and Dylan’s mom for being so kind to give me rides to the service events. If it weren’t for these people, I wouldn’t be able to attend these events and express my love towards this club! Brandon Yi | Junior | Spirit Chair

Tangled-in-Service DIVISION BANQUET

BANQUET

joint banquet with d10s and d10n

To end the year, Division 35W held a joint banquet with D10N and D10S. During the banquet, all members had the opportunity to meet Key Clubbers outside their own division. Although this banquet was super lit and fun, it also represented a tearful goodbye from the old LTGS and the start of a new year for the new LTGS. Members went up to the open mic to talk about their life changing Key Club experiences and they expressed their love and appreciation for the LTGs and Key Club in general. I especially loved this Division Banquet because I met so many amazing people and I also got to reconnect with people from my own division whom I rarely see. Dylan and the other LTGs did an amazing job of putting this banquet together and I could tell that everyone had a great time.

This was my very first banquet for Key Club and I can definitely say that I look forward to many more in the future. The banquet began with the introduction of the LTGs from Divisions 35 West, 10 South, and 10 North. We were served some very delicious food, including pasta, salad, and cupcakes! Meanwhile, various members from each division spoke about their experiences as a Key Clubber. For me, this was the most memorable part of the night. Listening to these members share their stories and seeing the impact being in Key Club made on them helped me realize the importance of this organization. Towards the end of the banquet, the past LTGs handed out awards to members of their division that showed the true dedication of being a Key Clubber and said their final goodbyes. This was a bittersweet moment but it signaled the start of a new year led by our new LTG, Dylan Tran. I honestly can’t wait to see what the future holds for our club and our division.

ADOPT-A-PARK

Adopt-a-PARK

ADOPT-A-PARK

Adopt-a-Park was an event where our Key Club helped clean the Cameron Park in West Covina. A majority of the students that went to the event were those of West Covina High School because the school was located right next to the park. During the one hour cleanup period, we were able to pick up small pieces of trash such as plastic wraps, napkins, and cigarette buds. Luckily for us, the park was very clean to begin with, which made our jobs easier. Overall, IT WAS A GREAT WAY TO HELP CLEAN THE ENVIRONMENT WHILE STILL SPENDING TIME WITH KEY CLUB MEMBERS.
