THE PREVIEW

KISSER PREVIEWS AT YOUR INCONVENIENCE Professor Green’s follow up to Alive till I’m Dead

As this issue of Kisser Magazine launches, Professor Green’s new album ‘At Your Inconvenience’ will also have been released on sale to the public. We’ve decided to take a first listen and give you an insight into ‘Pro Green’s new album via The Preview. At first listen, it’s safe to say this record is much more deep and darker than Professor Green’s debut album of last year titled ‘Alive till I’m Dead’. Pro Green’s debut saw guest stars in numbers, with the likes of Lily Allen, Labrinth, Example and Maverick Sabre and although there aren’t as many ‘name’ artists on show, three artists return to the fold in the shape of Fink, Ed Drewett and the ever emerging talent that is Emeli Sande. The star name on the album sees the Professor possibly looking to crack America with a collaboration with Eminem’s partner in Bad Meets Evil; Royce Da 5’9” on the song ‘Nightmares’. The title track takes a swipe

at record labels trying to make him do things he doesn’t want to do, telling them where to go. The album is quite English in it’s content, like in this track, he mentions catching Rooney near his grandma and Wayne Bridge getting ‘John Terry’d’. DPMO (don’t piss me off) is a heavy all-out hiphop tune, single ‘Read All About it’ is of the previous albums styling and a really good song, featuring Emeli Sande’s amazing vocals. Trouble harps back to the old ‘garage meets drum N’bass’ days. Spinning Out ft. Fink is a stand out tune, using a sample of The Pixies ‘Where is my Mind’ to great effect. Remedy is an upbeat dance tune and bound to be a hit single. All in all, you can see why Pro is being called the English Eminem - worth your pennies.

AT YOUR INCONVENIENCE

thirteen 1 - game of the month The story of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad’s struggle against the Locust has provided arguably the most epic ride of the current generation. This closing chapter of the trilogy promises to bring it all to a fitting end - and guys, Gears of War 3 doesn’t disappoint. Jacinto is sunk and the Locust are largely gone, but a new threat is rising and proving itself to be more volatile than ever before – Lambent Locust. Having been forced to move from their new haven by the Lambent, we’re introduced to Fenix and Delta Squad living and moving around on a boat. Chairman Prescott arrives with a data disk containing a mysterious message for Fenix from his presumed-dead father, and so starts an incredible journey to understanding the mysteries it leaves behind. Including a possible end to the locust threat once and for all. Forget about the dark and dingy looks of the previous two games, this journey is brought to you by a wonderfully colourful palette of bright yellows, lush beaches

and varied sun-drenched scenery. Gears 3 looks stunning, period. Thanks to the locust’s tendency to explode when shot, the battlefield is constantly awash with colour, transforming Gears into a much more aesthetically pleasing experience than before (no more dingy browns to bore the eye). The new enemies explode when dying and often mutate into horrible beasts, making battles unfold quite differently than before. There’s still a heavy focus on cover-and-move shooting, but it all feels more frantic this time out. Cover can be blown apart leaving you exposed, new weapons such as the Digger Launcher can burrow underground and explode right beside you, and the Lambent locust don’t just sit on their disgusting asses waiting for you to advance. Many of the encounters are of an epic scale here too, involving massive enemies and exciting cinematic set pieces. The core gameplay is basically the same as Gears 2, but every facet has

h - GEARS OF WAR 3 been tweaked and improved. The roadie run feels smoother and more powerful, especially when using the new Retro Lancer to charge at enemies and impale them on it’s blade. Moving and navigating around cover is smoother thanks to improved collision detection, and you can now kick enemies if you jump over their cover from the opposite side, which is pretty bad-ass. There are a bunch of fresh execution moves to finish Locust off in style, and taking a hostage to use as a meat shield now offers an improved tactic, thanks to the ability to tag them with a grenade and kick them away into a group of enemies before it explodes. Campaign aside, Gears 3 proves itself a worthy purchase with spades of extra game modes. The classic online multiplayer is back with bigger scale maps and improved action. Deathmatch, King of the Hill and Capture the Leader all make a return, and there’s an improved Horde mode, Horde 2.0, that’s an absolute blast to get into. Oh, and

the insanely fun new Beast Mode finally offers the chance to play as the Locust against human resistance. Quite simply, if you like Gears – get this, now!

HULL STINGRAYS A poor start to the season has seen the Stingrays steadily improve throughout the month of October and now sees the team lie in 6th place in the league standings. The month of October started off badly with a 6-0 loss to the Sheffield Steelers. Bad results continued, but by the end of the month, the Stingrays had picked up a good number of wins and carved out some better performances. The Stingrays played Nottingham twice, losing both games 3-2. League leaders Belfast were also played twice, resulting in a 4-3 loss and more recently, a 3-1 loss. October also saw a loss against Dundee, 3-1 - but also a 3-1 reverse to see the Stingrays win the game by the scoreline they’d recently lost to Dundee by. Other results throughout the month included a 3-2 loss to Edinburgh, a 4-2 loss to Coventry and two high scoring wins in the games against Fife, which saw the Stingrays win 6-1 and then a brilliant 9-4 win over Braehead. The Stingrays will no doubt look to their recent wins as inspiration through November.

HULL CITY AFC THE VIEW FROM E2:

in two goals against a poor side, who had scored only 9 goals all season up until that November is upon us, which means we’re point. It was another spirited performance only a month and a half away from seeing though and showed the together-ness if we’re close to matching the old chestnut of this squad in managing to come from saying of ‘If we’re in and around the top behind twice to earn a stoppage-time teams at Christmas, we can look to go on winner sending us all into a frenzy. The a promotion push from there’. Notts Forest game was a potential slip up, what with their new manager and two wins Well, October has certainly seen us hold giving them a boost, but we took the game our own against some very good sides. by the scruff of the neck and made it our The Cardiff home game brought about a own to take all 3 points with a cool finish spirited performance by City whom created from Aaron McLean, who is really starting to a lot of very good chances against one of come on now - long may his form continue, the teams expected to be in and around as goals are all he needs to add to his the play-offs. Robert Koren ran the show in game to become a big success at City. what looked like a very balanced side with two out and out wingers in the team. Matty November is our biggest test yet - a night Fryatt made that balance show by scoring trip to Barnsley (we never play well on a a great technical goal, similar in style to night for some reason!), a game against the nifty footwork we’d seen of him last a full-blown attacking style Derby, freeseason and our spirit showed to snatch a scoring Southampton, who are top of the winner via Nicky Barmby’s smart finish. league and have won every game at home this season - can we be the first to make The Brighton game was end-to-end stuff them drop points? A very tough ask. Not to that we maybe could have snatched a mentioned tough games against two teams cheeky 1-0 win from, but it was a point who like to take the aerial route - this is our well earned against a Brighton side who biggest worry, as we’ve looked far too poor had not failed to score at home for about a in the air at the back - see Watford game as year and a half - showcasing why us City proof. The strong attacks of West Ham and fans are warming to the Chester-Hobbs Burnley could showcase our achilles heel to partnership at the back. The Watford game the rest of the division. November will be a though, wasn’t the best defensively, letting tough one - be on guard City!

the danger men - NOV Another month of football sees new challenges throughout November. As we did last month, we’ve decided to carry on our ‘the danger men’ feature and give you an insight into who we feel the Tigers need to keep more alert about than others. We’re now 4 months into the season and it’s more telling who is in form and who isn’t... JACOB BUTTERFIELD:

JAY RODRIGUEZ:

MATT TAYLOR:

ADAM LALLANA:

JAMIE WARD:

RICKIE LAMBERT:

So, should we be naming the ‘returning player coming back to haunt us’ in Ricardo Vaz Te? Er, No! Or Nathan Doyle for that matter? A possibility, but still no - Jacob Butterfield is the major threat here and a player we’d love Nigel Pearson to look at signing - young, English and going cheap too. Where to start with West Ham? Honestly, we could name 3/4 of their team as ‘danger men’. Collison is back on form, Nolan is always a threat and Baldock looks like making the step up with ease. Henri Lansbury is a star in the making and there is no doubting Cole and Carew’s worth. Taylor it is though. Derby have surpassed everyone’s expectations this season (so far) and seem to still be under the radar, as it looks like teams keep on expecting them to drop off, under-estimating them. Nigel Clough has put together a great side of unknown qualities such as Bryson, Hendricks and Davies X2, but Jamie Ward is our tip for ‘danger man’.

player of the month Player of the month... Robert Koren. Another month, and a less tough decision. Well, it would have been tough in the sense that the whole team has had a fantastic month, but could anyone really pick someone other than Robert Koren as a stand out to this success? His move into the middle of the park has sparked a more fluid style to City’s game and it’s no coincidence that the Tigers are now creating more chances each game.

This bloke is a top, top player. He has pace, trickery and an eye for goal, which is why we’re saying he’ll be Burnley’s main threat. We’re surprised by Burnley’s poor start, considering Rodriguez and Charlie Austin both have a good number of goals to their game. Stopping them both is key to a win. At the moment, it looks like the Saints will go marching in... to the Premier League, at this rate anyway. One of the reasons for this has been down to the form of Adam Lallana - we’re sure Nigel Pearson will be hoping he’s picked up another injury by the time we come to play them away on November 29th.

Adkins has moulded a great side down on the South Coast with a fantastic team spirit, all pulling together for each other. Guly Do Prado, Fox, Cork, Davis, Hammond - a great spine of a team, but as we all know - no spine of a football team is complete without it’s strikers and in Rickie Lambert, Southampton have got a heck of a player on their hands.

FOOTIE FEATURE: LAMBRETTAMAN WITH PETE SKIPPER

NAME: PETER SKIPPER POSITION: Defender TIME AT CITY: 79-80 / 1982-88 APPEARANCES: 288 / GOALS: 19

KISSER asked City fan Lambrettaman to meet with an Ex-City player for a chat. Here is what was discussed when he spoke with former 1980s City defender Pete Skipper. LM. What was the greatest ever goal you scored for City? PS. Probably the one were we won promotion at Walsall in 1984/85. We won 1-0 and it was the goal I scored to take us up into the old second division, which is basically what is now The Championship. LM. Which City player was the best you ever played with and why? PS. I played with a lot of very good players - a great bunch. Possibly Richard Jobson he was a very good player and a great defender, but so were many of my team mates of that time; Stan Mcewan, Dale Roberts, there was Garreth Roberts - he was an inspirational captain, Les Mutrie, Gary Parker, Frankie Bunn, Steve McLaren - all good. LM. Who was the best player you ever came up against and why? PS. I’d say Kevin Keegan when he was at Southampton when I was at Darlington. Brian Robson was difficult to play against too. Both worked hard at the game and went on to be greats. LM. What was your most favourite memory from your time at Hull City? PS. I think it has to be the two promotions. We had good managers, good players and a great spirit. If I had to pick one of the two as a favourite memory, then I’d say the second promotion, as it was a much bigger achievement. We’d just missed out on promotion the season before, so to get it the next season under Brian Horton was great. It was two promotions in 3 seasons and the clubs highest ever finish before the Premier League years.

LM. What do you think of the current Hull City team? PS. After a shakey start, they’ve improved and I’ve been impressed. The team are difficult to play against and it bodes well for the future. It could well be a very enjoyable season ahead for everybody. LM. What do you feel is needed to gain promotion? PS. More goals - but I think that’ll come with more games and more confidence from more wins. We could maybe do with a little bit more creativity from midfield at times and a bit more strength in depth from the bench. LM. Do you think the lack of goals is a cause for concern? PS. It is, but at the end of the day, it’s all about results. I’m sure the manager would rather take a 1-0 win over a high scoring loss. Yes, it’d be nice to be entertained with attacking football all the time, but it’s a very difficult league to get out of and you can’t get out of it just by playing stylish football. Look at the Watford game, when the chances came, we took them and that is the difference to the games at the start of the season and is the difference between finishing in the top 6 and finishing mid-table. LM. Who has been your player of the year so far? PS. Robbie Brady has been impressive and adds that little bit of quality and puts some telling crosses into the box. James Chester is a great centre-back. He reads the games so well, has got good pace, tackles well and just keeps the game simple. He does well in the air too, for someone who isn’t the tallest. Another player worth a mention is Liam Rosenior - he’s been excellent both defensively and when he’s had the chance to get forward. LM. Do you think there is an area of the team that still needs improvement? PS. I’m sure the manager would like to say he’d like to improve all areas of the side, because that is what you’re always looking to do. There will always be room for improvements. Maybe in January Nigel Pearson may want to look for a midfielder and a forward to add strength in depth. Saying that, Cameron Stewart should be back soon, it’ll be interesting to see how he comes back into things - but if he can get back to how he was before the injury, he’ll be like a new player. We don’t need a midfield enforcer type, I think Evans and McKenna can share that role and a re good enough to do that job. Maybe a player who can come in and run the game a bit more, allowing us to dominate for larger periods. I’d like to see a forward with more pace come in, too. I want to see someone who can get on the end of things a bit more and who is fast enough to get on the end of balls over the top. Fryatt is a good finisher and has good feet, McLean will chase down all day long. A forward I’m talking about will no doubt cost a lot of money though, but I’m sure the owners will back the manager and if we’re still near the top of the league come January, it may well be easier to entice these types of players Hull City. LM. Do you have a ‘most cherished’ possession from your time in football? PS. Yes, my PFA team of the year award for 1984, which Tony Norman was in too. Many Thanks for your time Pete.

HULL KR No sooner had Rovers announced the appointment of Craig Sandercock than the man himself was in England on a busy week long visit getting through a quite prodigious amount of work. He even brought the Australian weather with him as autumnal England basked in an Indian Summer! Sandercock took in the championship grand final which turned out to be bad news for Misi Taulapapa who failed to impress Rovers new coach and it seems Misi will be leaving without playing or even attending a training session. Players who definitely will be with Rovers in 2012 are Lincoln Withers, Mickey Paea and Keal Carlile all of these signings now officially confirmed. Also it seems likely that the Newcastle Knights duo of full back Shannon McDonnell and second row Constantine Mika will also play for Rovers next season. These 2 are tremendously talented players who have suffered from injuries in 2011. McDonnell I hope can stay fit in 2012 and if so he would bring a new dimension with his attacking qualities from full back. Rovers need to sort of a deal with Misi T. first but this seems a formality and then McDonnell will sign. Mika had been on the point of signing for Castleford but Rovers stepped in at the last minute and it seems the opportunity for him to work with Sandercock was the deciding factor. Mika will be an exciting addition for Rovers with his handling skills, offloads and power. It has been said that when Mika runs at you then you find out if your tackling technique is up to scratch, hence the nickname ‘Mika The Mack Truck’. He is like a young version of David Solomona - don’t get me wrong the kid hasn’t achieved anything like what Solomona has done but he has similar skills and ability. The skills set of the squad assembled for 2012 is a step change in the right direction and the depth of the squad is finally where a Super League club should be. Pretty well everyone is SL quality rather than simply there to meet home-grown or other requirement, we haven’t had that before. Craig Sandercock says he likes an expansive style of football but listening to him it is obvious that he thinks defence and fitness were the areas where Rovers were weak in 2011. We WILL be defending better he told us with assurance. He also referred to the training camp the players will go on in pre-season and matter of factly commented that they wouldn’t enjoy it. The camp will focus on basics of which one basic will be tackling. It was interesting to hear Chris Chester say that last season Rovers were too worried about wrestling and maybe forgot how to tackle. Overall Sandercock wants more consistency and to be competitive in every single game. Sandercock’s communication and people skills are outstanding and the man is clearly a workaholic. No matter who you are he will use your name when talking to you and he was quick to pick up on using terminology which would go down well with his audience - referring to his new club as Rovers and another club nearby as ‘the dark side’. A quick learner and also impressive was

his knowledge of the Rovers players, he had already watched a stack of DVD’s apparently. He also will have pleased many fans by asking club legend Stanley Gene to return as coach to the U18’s. He did so much in his week long visit it seemed he was here much longer but he will soon be back to oversee pre season training in early November. Not all recent news has been about Craig Sandercock. For the next 5 years the stadium will be known as MS3 Craven Park and as well as welcoming MS3 on board I think a pat on the back too for Rovers commercial department to secure a 5 year deal. There will also be news soon on sponsorship of the East Stand. Good to see Rovers youngster Dave Scott selected for Scotland and then making a remarkable debut with 2 scorching tries. For someone yet to make his Super League debut to look so accomplished at that level is very exciting. He also showed he can kick goals converting his own 2nd try from near the touchline. Kris Welham and Liam Watts missed out on full international selection but both featured for England Knights and both scored in the game against Cumbria. Leeds Rhinos enquired about the availability of Welham and were willing to pay a transfer fee but the good news is that Kris looks set to stay with Rovers. We also heard about plans for a £2m East Hull Sports Academy to be situated at MS3 Craven Park which would provide world class facilities. This would require financial backing from Mr. Assem Allam and it is unclear as I write whether his issues with Hull City Council might be too much of an obstacle. Let’s hope not. Our city is very lucky to have someone like Mr. Allam who is not the only rich man in the area but he is the only one willing to put anything back into the local community. Whether he does or does not fund the East Hull Sports Academy I applaud him for what he has already done to support the local area. On a purely personal note my daughter who is currently on a gap year in Australia attended the recent Aus v NZ game in Newcastle, Australia. She made a Hull KR banner which sadly did not feature on the SKY TV coverage. Got up at 6 a.m. to watch too. Never

mind but she did sign the massive Darren Lockyer banner which of course did feature. By His Bobness

CRAIG SANDERCOCK Sandercock has assisted Rick Stone at Newcastle Knights during the last two years and Stone is another admirer. “Craig’s unique coaching style and ability to work in a group environment makes him a great choice for Hull KR. His individual one-on-one coaching with emerging star Aku Uate has set new standards in knowing your players and how to get your message across simply and efficiently. He’s ready to take the next step in his career.” Latest!!! Akuila Uate has just made a sensational debut for Australia scoring 2 tries in the first 7 minutes as the Aussies defeat NZ in Newcastle. It is But Rovers had been alerted to the talents of Craig widely acknowledged not least by Uate himself that his career Sandercock by no less than Australian RL coaching was going nowhere until Craig Sandercock took him under his legend Phil Gould. Gould has coached grand final wing. So the young talent at Hull KR are in good hands. winning teams at Canterbury & Penrith and coached Prior to his spell at Newcastle Knights, Sandercock coached NSW to 3 straight origin series victories. In a second at Manly part time overseeing the junior talent under the stint as NSW coach in 3 years he won 2 series and drew guidance of the likes of Des Hasler whilst also being a deputy headmaster at Pittwater House School a position he the other. He is the most successful NSW coach in the history of State of Origin football. He is now a channel 9 relinquished when joining Newcastle. Many of the 2011 Manly Grand Final winning team have benefitted from working under pundit and CEO of Penrith Panthers. him.

Hull Kingston Rovers new head coach Craig Sandercock did not go chasing the job. He had just signed a new 2 year contract with Newcastle Knights to work under master coach Wayne Bennett and exciting times seemed to lie ahead for the Knights under new coach Bennett and their wealthy new owner. So in Sandercock’s own words ‘he hadn’t even thought about’ coaching in Super League.

Frankly when a man of Gould’s standing recommends a coach - you listen. Having a man of this calibre drawing up a shortlist for Rovers has been a real coup, there is no one in world Rugby League better qualified. So following on from this Neil Hudgell sent an e-mail to Craig Sandercock inviting him to apply. Sandercock ‘did a whole lot of research’ on Hull KR and took up Hudgell’s invitation which led to a selection process described by Sandercock as the most professional he has ever encountered. Given that Craig Sandercock is a Bachelor of Economics and has a Diploma of Education that is no small praise.

CRAIG SANDERCOCK FACTFILE 1969: Born in Sydney, Australia. 1980: Played his junior rugby with North Sydney. 1993: Appointed assistant deputy principal at Pittwater House School. 1997: Had a stint with Super League club London Broncos. 2000: Gained an economics degree at Macquarie University, Sydney. 2002: Breakthrough in coaching came when he joined the junior backroom staff at Manly Sea Eagles. 2009: Appointed coach of the New South Wales Under-16s. 2010: Appointed as assistant to Rick Stone at Newcastle Knights. 2011: September 26 - Given first head coach role by Hull KR for the start of the 2012 season.

Someone coached by Sandercock in the recent past is Catalans Dragons scrum half Scott Dureau. Dureau believes Sandercock is certainly ready to advance Rovers in 2012. Talented scrum-half Scott By His Bobness Dureau, named in the Super League Dream Team following a sensational debut campaign at Catalans, worked with the 42-year-old in 2010. “I was at Newcastle with him and he has some great ideas,” Dureau told the Yorkshire Post. “He’s a young, up-and-coming coach who I really enjoyed working with at the Knights. He’s a very big thinker on the game but is real hands-on in training too and has high ambitions. He’ll definitely be doing his best to get Rovers to the semi-finals. There are a lot of Aussie coaches coming over now but they have good reputations; some have worked under people like Wayne Bennett and Craig Bellamy, and teams want the best for their clubs. I’m sure Craig will do well for Hull KR.”

HULL FC The season has finished for the Black and Whites after a disappointing early exit in the Play Off’s to the eventual winners the Leeds Rhinos and preparations for next season have already begun. Several signings had already been made by the old regime and Coach Richard Agar including the likes of Brett Seymour, Aaron Heremaia, Wade Mckinnon and Jamie Ellis. Another singing just before Adam Pearson took over was the promising prop Eamon O’Carroll on a three year deal from the Wigan Warriors, however this could be a risk as O’Carroll’s career was almost ended by continuous pubic bone and groin-related injuries, however he has worked hard and managed to get himself back into the Wigan set up towards the back end of the season. Adam Pearson and new Head Coach Peter gentle therefore have had their hands tied a bit in relation to players that they can bring in, this is due to the the implications of the salary cap and the Quota or Non Federation rules in relation to overseas players. Peter Gentle is expected to arrive at the end of October or early November ahead of pre-season training and it is expected that he will finalise his squad with one or two more additions when he gets here. The Quota and Non Federation system is an area which confuses a lot of fans so a detailed explanation is needed to understand the full dynamics of how it works. Quota and non federation places are different, an Australian or New Zealand-er will count on both the Quota and Non Federation lists and anyone who has a Tongan/Samoan/European passport only counts on the non federation list, any team can have up to a maximum of five each. So in other words the Quota and Non Federation status for the black and whites next year is as follows:

Quota McKinnon O Meley Seymour Obst Heremaia Non Federation McKinnon O Meley Seymour Moa Obst and Heremaia played in Super League before 2008 when the Non Federation rules came in so they only count on the Quota and not the Non Federation list. There is lots of speculation that Sam Obst has been told he can go if he finds another club therefore the Black and Whites would have one full spot for an Australian or a New Zealand-er, and after letting go the likes of Mike Burnett, Ewan Dowes, Craig Fitzgibbon, Martin Gleeson, Epalahame Lauaki. Sean Long, Cameron Phelps, Lee Radford and Danny Washbrook it can be said that the Black and Whites look a bit lightweight in the pack next year and this extra Quota spot could be used to bring in another prop or 2nd row from the NRL. There have been two signings since Adam Pearson took over these include Tony Martin on a one year deal, he is a well travelled Australian centre who will try and fill the void left by the departing Martin Gleeson on the troubled right hand side of Hull FC, Martin doesn’t count on the quota after all the crusaders players have been granted special dispensation by the Rugby Football League after the club decided to withdraw their licence application without informing any of the players leaving them high and dry and struggling to find clubs for next season. The major signing and probably one of the most shrewd moves by the Black and Whites in a long time is one of best Props in the completion Bradford Bulls Captain Andy Lynch with the Black and Whites paying a sizeable fee to the Bulls to get Lynch released from the last year of his deal, he is one of the stand out props in the competition

and he will hopefully to a certain extent be able to replace the leadership skills of Craig Fitzgibbon. Other changes at the club see two directors leaving including Chief executive James Rule who gave seven years of good service and Jon Flatman who was the Community Director.

A more traditional Fans Forum is also planned for early next year ahead of the new Super League season and further details will be confirmed later this year for the fans who don’t have the opportunity of attending this special event. The complete overhaul of playing staff and back room staff and the overall changes at the Black and Whites has been astonishing and all in such a short period of time since Adam Pearson has taken over, hopefully all these changes can see the Black and Whites reach their massive potential and push for honours in the 2012 season and for many seasons to come.

It means a restructure of the club’s senior management team has taken place with Finance Director Tony Sutton and Head of Media James Clark handed new roles with immediate effect. The Black and Whites will now be run by Tony Sutton on the business and administration side as Chief Operating Officer, whilst the returning Shaun McRae will handle all rugby affairs as Director of Rugby. James Clark who was of media at the Black and Whites By Jed Rust will now become our Head of Communications, Media and Marketing at the club, Hull FC’s restructuring of their back room staff is nearing completion after the appointment of Rachel Gay as Community Manager, to replace the departing Jon Flatman. Hull FC’s passes have gone on sale after a small reduction in prices with the sales smashing though the 1000 barrier in the first week of sales as the anticipation builds for what will hopefully be a positive year for the Black and Whites after the departure of the old board and the coach Richard Agar, who arguably held the club back several years. The first 400 people who bought a season pass are in for an exclusive treat. They will be known as the Faithful 400 and due to their loyalty and support they will be given the opportunity to be involved with the first public outing of the new Chairman Adam Pearson, the return of Director of Rugby Shaun McRae and the very first appearance from new Head Coach Peter Gentle. The Faithful 400 will have the opportunity to put their questions to the panellists and have a chance to interact with the new faces at the helm of what promises to be an exciting era.

FIFA 12 Kisser checks out the finer details of the latest Fifa installment. When we say we’re picky buggers, we mean it. We thought for all those other picky buggers out there who like to nit-pick at the finer details of things, we’d delve into most men’s first love - Fifa. First we’re going to get picky about gameplay, then about actual tiny details of the design. The biggest change this year is the defending - what an arse it is to

master. We’ve pulled our hair out a few times having had Emile Heskey skip past us like he’s Lionel Messi. Once you’ve mastered the defending however, it is a whole new concept all-together making this game completely brilliant and more life-like than ever before. The human mannerisms like shirt pulls and falling over also add to the realism of the game.

One thing that has annoyed us though is EA’s continued lack of respect for smaller clubs and getting their details as correct as Premier League clubs - The Championship is the fourth most watched league in the world for crying out loud! If you look at the pictures above, you can see how EA have mucked up the back of City’s shirt, but have managed to get West Brom and

Stoke’s right - despite them being the same template (both pictured). The sponsor on the away shirt is wrong, as is the colour of the names and numbers on both shirts. Is this a muck up by EA or were the club

meant to send over pictures? Even so, surely someone at EA must have noticed the back of the home kit should be the same as Stoke’s, considering the front is the same? The numbers on the home shorts

are also wrong. The keeper kit is spot on and McKenna is probably the most life-like of City players. Koren looks right in the face, but he doesn’t have a mohawk, EA! Other players are fairly life-like, but need improving in future.

CADENZA @ PACHA Kisser buggers off to Ibiza to hit the closing parties. We decided to jet off to catch the very last of the famous Ibiza closing parties to show the people of Hull and East Yorkshire what all the hype is really all about. Ok, so it’s not local, but we’re doing you a service in showing you what you might want to do for your holidays next year. We visited the Cadenza Vagabundos closing party at Pacha and by

heck is your breath taken away as soon as you enter the club. We’ve never seen anything quite like it - the first glimpse alone confirms why Pacha is known as one of the best clubs in the world. It’s complete carnage in the main arena, but at the same time, you have amazing roof-top terraces to go sit outside and chill in, on comfy sofas. Take plenty of money, it

cost us 34 Euros for 2 drinks! The atmosphere is very lively, the people inside - 70% look like part-time models. The place has a huge VIP area filled with old yacht owners trying to impress the young birds. It is something worth experiencing even if you aren’t a fan of House music. The consensus seems to be, if you want a commercial night - hit David Guetta’s ‘F**k Me I’m Famous’.

JESSIE J Award winning pop superstar-ess does it like a dude in Bridlington. This October’s must have item in East Yorkshire? Looking at the crowds here tonight, you can safely say it was the need to get a Jessie J ticket. The current British queen of pop was in town and there was no doubting that we knew it. The screams of hysteria were loud in anticipation for the performance of Jessie J - they (and we) knew something big was about to go

down amongst the bright lights of the seaside venue. The crowds lined the streets in good spirit, going back right down the promenade. When Jessie J hit the stage, the screams were phenomenal and it was easy to see why so many teenage girls were screaming out at one of their idols. For every song and every word of those songs, said teenage girls sang along in time

as Jessie J performed them. You’ve got to love the way in which Jessie J patrols the stage, giving what feels like, everybody in attendance, the eye. Despite the large crowds, she does a great job of making everyone feel like they’re part of the show. For some part of the performance, we were in a position towards the side of the stage where plenty of other people were situated, hav-

ing a good time, but the view wasn’t the best due to amps being in the way. It was nice to see that Jessie noticed this and made sure she regularly came over and leant over the amps to sing to the fans who had a slightly obscured view. It was great to see Jessie performing with a full live band too - far to often do popstars feel it OK to just sing over a backing track.

It was cool to see her huddle with her fellow band members for the acoustic ‘Big White Room’ which is perfect for showcasing Jessie J’s amazing vocal talents. Other highlights included explosive performances of hits such as ‘Nobody’s Perfect’, ‘Abracadabra’, ‘Who’s Laughing Now’, ‘Do it Like a Dude’ and a duet with rapper Devlin on hit

single and former UK no.1; ‘Price Tag’. In amongst great lighting, a golden waterfall backdrop of a pyro-technics show and heartshaped balloons saw a grand finale of red ticker tape raining down over the crowds. A top class live experience for all here. ...and Lily Allen - Jessie’s MOBO credentials? Have you not heard ‘Who’s Laughing Now’? It’s the Salt N’Pepa of 2011.

BENJAMIN FRANCIS LEFTWICH Popular Yorkshire singer-songwriter gets intimate at The Adelphi. The 5th October saw a beautiful performance from singer Benjamin Francis Leftwich at the New Adelphi club, Hull. The night was an intimate gathering of folk and acoustic music including support from John Copley, who is part of local band The Belle Collective and North London singer Elena Tonra half of the duo Daughter. The night begun with John Copley on

vocals, with his sweet taleful lyrics reminiscent of Mumford and Sons. Following on from his acoustic set, Daughter took the stage to deliver a spell binding performance of their EP His Young Heart. Benjamin Francis played a beautiful acoustic set of songs from his new album, Smoke before the Snowstorm. With the crowd silent and only the sound

of his voice echoing through the Adelphi club, the atmosphere became one that was relaxed and cosy. Many settled for sitting on the floor underneath the stage to listen to him play songs such as Atlas Hands and Box of Stones. Overall the night was one that was beautifully relaxed, warm and friendly. The album Last Smoke before the Snowstorm - is out now.

According to Carling, their barley is grown across the UK, some of which is harvested locally in the East Riding. Alice Gold, who played at Freedom Festival also has her song featured in the Carling Chrome TV advert. Perfect for a night out with it’s lighter taste.

LOCAL NEWS

THE FUTURE OF HULL ROYAL? Could this be the future of Hull Royal Infirmary? We’ve been shown plans by John R Paley Associates to reclad the hospital and transform it into a modern looking structure. Their plans also include a glazed roof over a ‘street’, as a glazed atrium links the new ward campus with the Hospital Street. The roof of the western podium would be transformed into a green tranquil space. Accessed from the Hospital Street, this garden would provide a contemplative and restful area for the hardworking employees of the Trust. These plans are believed to be just concept designs, but we can safely say that we like them and hope to see these plans happen in reality sometime in the near future. This comes off the back of an announcement that will see Hull Royal’s A+E get a massive £7 million upgarde, making it one of the biggest in the UK. In another move into the 21st century for the hospital, it is believed that patients will book themselves in at kiosks, asking a series of questions on touch-screen devices, which will in turn tell the patient where to go next for treatment.

In other local news: US doughnut giants ‘Krispy Kreme’ have announced they’re looking to open up in Hull, as are food chain Bagel Nash. The council has said it will look to boost trade on Whitefriargate by adding a glass roof to the street - and what a tired, old rubbish idea it is. How about subsidising low rents for independent traders instead? Boost, not drain the local economy, please!

MYTHS & LEGENDS Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson (1758 - 1805)

Everyone knows who Admiral Lord Nelson is - for those who don’t, he’s known as one of Britain’s most heroic figures and one of, if not the most successful naval captains of all time. So, what has this got to do with our area? Well, one of the first ships Lord Nelson captained was the HMS Boreas, which was built by the Blaydes family on High Street in Hull, which he served as captain of in the West Indies.
