PROGRAM GUIDE FEATURES
2017: KROC ADDITION This new year comes with some exciting new changes at The Kroc. We have taken your input, suggestions and complaints to heart and listened to the feedback and recommendations you have made over time. While we have done our best to address the “little things” one at a time, it is time to

4 GENERAL INFORMATION
This two phase construction project will make positive changes to the front entrance of The Kroc

commit to a couple of major projects. We are very excited to announce an expansion event to begin
Center and create a unique multipurpose space on the east wing of The Center. Phase 1: The front entrance will become an extended and enclosed space. Two sets of sliding doors will increase the ease of access and create a more safe and secure entry for every member and guest. This will eliminate some of the challenges we face with ice and snow build up over the grates and reduce the need for mats in the entry way. Phase 2: A 2,000 sq. ft. addition will be built against the southeast side of the existing Play Care area. Currently we have an under utilized outdoor patio and fire place located in this spot. This increased Play Care space will speak directly to those who have been patient with long lines at Play Care, and allow us to increase the number of children we care for. This additional space will also allow for additional youth programming in the afternoon. Construction is scheduled to begin in late February, 2017. We will start with the front entrance project and encourage all parties involved to move quickly to minimize the inconvenience. Construction of the additional Play Care space will take place simultaneously, but priority will be given to front entrance work. HERE ARE SOME THINGS TO EXPECT: •
The Kroc Center will remain open for regular hours during the construction.
•
The main entrance will not be accessible during construction. The only entrance to the facility

will be through the east end double doors, which will be well marked. •
Hours of construction will typically be Monday through Friday, 7am–5pm. During this time, and through the entire construction project, construction workers and large equipment will be operating in a fenced-off area in front of The Kroc Center.
•
Play Care will move to the Kootenai and River Rooms of the Community Wing, full time, until we are able to move back to the newly improved Play Care space. There will be no adjustment to safety requirements for check in/check out, or policies and procedures. We will have additional

ENCOURAGE, EQUIP & ENGAGE: OUR CHURCH DNA At Kroc Church, we Encourage, Equip & Engage (E3) on a daily basis as we strive to glorify God with our lives. We encourage one another into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and into healthy relationships with one another. We equip with the truth of God’s Word so that we can face our daily struggles, and we engage our community by making a difference in the lives of other people, by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, and by serving them in His name.
Huckleberry Hollow is where our most curious and active age group meets. Kids will have plenty of fun while learning a meaningful Bible lesson. Bible verse memorization is encouraged through simple movement. Please have your children dressed for arts and crafts. Children must be fully potty trained.

LESSON TIPS & TRICKS
AMERICAN RED CROSS
SWIM LESSONS
• Evaluate your child’s swim ability and choose a class level, date and time.
PARENT & CHILD SWIM LESSONS
• Register for class online or at the Front Desk. Classes fill quickly.
AGES 6 MONTHS–3 YEARS PARENT & CHILD LEVEL 1 Parents are taught how to safely hold and work with their child in the water. Water exploration, games, and new water skills will make this class a fun experience for both of you.
PARENT & CHILD LEVEL 2
• Arrive early to check-in and familiarize your child with the facility. Please have your child ready for class at the start of the lesson time.
Parents and children improve and expand the swimming and safety skills learned in level one.
PRESCHOOL SWIM LESSONS RECOMMENDED AGES 4– 5 YEARS PRESCHOOL LEVEL 1 Children may be new to the water or have prior experience. Swimmers will explore being in the water through games and learn skills such as blowing bubbles, face in the water, floating, front and back glides and rolling from front to back.
PRESCHOOL LEVEL 2 Students in these classes will learn how to bob towards safety, front float, tread water, and swim with arm and leg action on front and on back.
PRESCHOOL LEVEL 3 Swimmers will improve their freestyle form while increasing their stamina by swimming longer distances. Safety bobs, survival floats, and swimming on back will be practiced.
• Families with an adult (18+) may use a cabana locker room. Please bring your own padlock if you wish to store your belongings in a locker. Group locker rooms are also available and located near the Competition Pool. • Have your child go to the bathroom before lessons. Children who are not potty trained must wear a swim diaper and plastic pants (available for purchase at the Front Desk) to prevent bathroom incidents in the pool. Please note: no refunds will be given when bathroom incidents occur. • Bring your child’s towel onto the pool deck. Keep your child warm before and after lessons.
LEARN TO SWIM LESSONS RECOMMENDED AGES 6+ YEARS LEVEL 1: INTRO TO AQUATICS Students in this class may be new swimmers or comfortable in the water. Students will learn to blow bubbles, put their face in the water, back float, front glide, roll from front to back and back to front, and swim freestyle with good form for short distances.
LEVEL 2: AQUATIC FUNDAMENTALS These students will learn safety floats, jumping into the water, back glides, backstroke, elementary backstroke, and will continue to improve their form for freestyle.
• Check in at the Swim Lesson table in the Cove Pool. Non-members must also sign up at the front desk. Please help your child remember the Instructor’s name and the class color. Pass this information on to anyone who may be bringing your child to lessons.
LEVEL 3: STROKE DEVELOPMENT Students have mastered the basics of freestyle and backstroke and are ready to learn rotary breathing. Swimmers will improve their elementary backstroke form, learn dolphin kick, and will be introduced to the deep water in the competition pool for treading water and beginning diving.
LEVEL 4: STROKE IMPROVEMENT While improving their rotary breathing, backstroke, and elementary backstroke students will learn butterfly, breaststroke, and will swim longer distances. Students will learn open turns for freestyle and backstroke and learn to dive from the side of the pool.
LEVEL 5: STROKE REFINEMENT Students can swim full lengths of the Comp Pool and will increase their stamina and speed in all strokes through swimming drills. They are ready to learn flip turns and competitive starts from the starting blocks.
• Please do not bring your child to swim lessons if they are ill. Please note: Makeup lessons are not available. • At the end of the set of lessons, your Instructor will recommend the appropriate class level for the next set of lessons. Class levels are frequently repeated to allow students to master skills and feel successful before moving on to a new level.

"Training for Ironman saved me on so many levels," says Kroc member Nicole Whiting. After Nicole and her husband adopted their daughter Desi, she was diagnosed with autism and a health condition that required multiple trips to the children's hospital in Seattle. The Whitings faced a trying season but then last year, something wonderful happened. Nicole found the perfect developmental preschool in Post Falls. Even though it meant taking a step back from her career, and driving from their home in Moscow, Nicole knew that this was what she needed to do for Desi. With six hours of time to fill each day, Nicole started coming to The Kroc Center. She learned to swim, signed up for the triathlete training program, and set her sites on Ironman CDA. On August 21, 2016, when Nicole toed the start line, she was ready. Despite temperatures in the 90's and strong winds, she finished the race. "The Kroc became like family--everyone from Heather at the Front Desk to Sean who helped me with strength training. I couldn't have done this without them." Nicole encourages anyone going through a trying time to pick up the sport, "Those long days out on the bike give you time alone with your grief and require you to deal with the fear."
Thank you Nicole for inspiring others and congratulations on a race well done!
