WATER COMPENTENCY TESTS FOR DISCOVERY AND ADVENTURE CAMP KIDS
Discovery and Adventure campers will take a water competency test that will help us identify those individuals who are comfortable in and around both deep and shallow water. Swimmers who decline to take the test are considered non-swimmers. Non-swimmers must stay in water that is armpit deep or less and require active adult supervision and must wear a life jacket. Staff & Safety
Camper Code of Conduct
It takes a special person to be a counselor for our campers, your kids. Camp Counselors have to be energetic, enthusiastic, fun—but also trained to respond quickly and efficiently in any situation. Your child’s safety is our number one priority. KEY SAFETY GUIDELINES
1. Campers must stay with their age group and be accompanied by a counselor during all camp activities.
• All staff members will receive First Aid and CPR
2. Campers must remain with camp staff members at all times unless checked-out by an authorized adult with photo I.D.
• Staff are trained for emergency procedures at each camp location.
3. Camp attendees are expected to respect peers, The Kroc Center staff and the facility at all times. 4. The use of foul language, abusive actions, and inappropriate behavior is prohibited. 6. Alcohol and/or drugs are not allowed anywhere on the premises or at any location where camp is taking place.
certification from The American Red Cross.
• The two main beaches that Adventure and Discovery Camps will visit are staffed by full-time lifeguard staff beside our summer camp staff. • There will be a 1:10 counselor to child ratio at minimum, at all times. The names of the campers will be kept on staff at all times and “check-ins” will be required between each activity.
7. Bicycles, roller blades, skateboards, scooters or pets (excluding service animals) will not be allowed inside the facility.
• When taking a field trip, the vehicle will be operated by either a camp counselor with The Salvation Army Decisive Driving Certification, or a licensed local transportation company.
8. Shirt and shoes must be worn in all areas outside of pools and sun deck. Any logos or messages on clothing must be acceptable in a family setting.
• Camp staff will be equipped with cell phones and first aid kits, as well as all emergency information needed for each participant.
9. The Kroc Center staff reserves the right to dismiss a camper without a refund who does not meet behavior expectations.
• Kroc lifeguards will be present during all swim sessions that take place at The Kroc Center. • A first aid kit and a list of medications and allergies will be on camp staff at all times. Parental emergency contact information will remain on staff no matter the activity, and cell phones will be allotted to multiple staff members for emergency purposes and to remain in contact with the Camp Coordinator.

{ Camp Policies } DROP-OFF/PICK-UP PROCEDURES
POOL AREA/SWIMMING EVALUATIONS
Campers must be dropped off within 20 minutes of the start of camp and signed-out within 10 minutes of the end of camp. Adults authorized to pick-up children (including parents) will be required to show identification at pick-up. A Sign-Out Waiver Form is available for children age 11 and up, and must be completed by both parent and child for a camper to be allowed to sign him/herself in and out of camps. When a child is given the authority to sign him/herself out, he/she is no longer in the care of The Kroc Center staff and standard Kroc Center membership policies apply. 24-hour notification is needed for late drop-off or early pick-up if the event has been pre-planned. A phone call to the Camp Coordinator in the case of unexpected absence or schedule changes is required. Consistent late pick-up may be penalized with fee.
Swim tests to determine ability (for safety purposes) will be conducted on the first day of camp by our Aquatics Staff. Once ability is established, children will be allowed to participate in designated areas. Appropriate swim attire is required. Counselors will assist children at all times while in the pool and both areas will be fully staffed with trained, certified lifeguards. Children must be at least 48” tall in order to have safe access to the large water slide.
CANCELLATIONS/REFUND POLICY Full payment is expected at the time of enrollment. No cash refunds are given unless the program is cancelled by The Kroc Center. If the program is cancelled by The Kroc Center, you will be given the choice of a full credit or a cash refund. If you request to cancel your class enrollment five or more days prior to the first class, you will receive a full credit on a Kroc Center gift card minus a $25 processing fee or you may choose to transfer to another session if available. Requests made less than five days prior to the start date are not eligible for a refund or credit, except in the case of personal emergencies. No credits or pro-rated credits will be issued for missed days of camp or class due to illness, partial attendance, behavior issues, or any other reason.
CAMP WAIVER/MEDICAL FORMS Each camper must have a parent or guardian sign a camp waiver and supply correct and updated medical information in regards to their child(ren). Waiver(s) must be completed and signed prior to camp participation, preferably at time of registration.
MEDICAL PROTOCOL As a parent, if your child has any special medical needs, please include these with the desired response on the Registration Form. These will include, but are not limited to, any medical or behavioral diagnoses that may affect your child’s experience at camp. Updates can be made throughout the summer based on a case-by-case basis and will be reported directly to camp coordinators. By providing this information, you are providing our staff with the knowledge and ability to provide the best care possible for your child. Please note that there will be no nurse/doctor on-call at The Kroc Center.
DAY CAMP VISITORS
FOOD The Kroc kitchen is not allergen free. Should your child have an allergy to certain foods, please plan on bringing a lunch and snacks. Further inquiries can be made to the camp coordinator.
LOST & FOUND Lost & found items will be kept for a period of two weeks after a session, then donated to the local Salvation Army Thrift Store. Lost & found is located at The Kroc front desk.
MEDICATION DISTRIBUTION In the case of medication distribution, parents must complete a Right to Distribute Medication Form. This releases The Kroc Center from liability for medication that is required for distribution for the health of a child. Medication must be dropped off to Camp Coordinators in the original prescription container with your child’s name printed on the label and placed in a plastic bag. Medication will be stored in Camp Coordinator’s office and administered at the time(s) and in the amount designated by the Right to Distribute Medication Form. Parents must sign out medication at the end of each day and check back in the following day. Any medication not brought in the appropriate container may preclude camp participation for your child on that day.
ILLNESS AND INJURIES Camps at The Kroc are not designed or equipped to handle ill children. If your camper becomes ill while in camp, our staff will make your child as comfortable as possible. Our staff will then contact you (the parent) or one of the individuals you have authorized to pick up your child. If immediate medical attention is needed or if the severity of an injury cannot be correctly established, parents will be notified immediately. The Emergency Medical System (911) will be activated at the discretion of Camp Coordinators and/ or Camp Counselors. If staff are unable to reach parents whose child is in need of immediate medical attention, he/she will be transported to the nearest hospital via ambulance and staff will continue to attempt to contact parents. Parents/guardians will be responsible for all emergency medical care expenses.
Any day camp visitors for all children and staff will be required to check in at The Kroc front desk, and will be given a name tag to identify the individual as a visitor.
