Rule now enforced Tharine Geldenhuys
NEW traffic markings are being completed in the CBD of Kroonstad. Currently the lack of parking in the CBD is a massive problem. The “one-hour parking” rule has not been strictly enforced in the past, but strict enforcement of this initiative should make sufficient parking available to business clients in the business centre. A fine of R150 for motorists exceeding the one-hour limit on parking bays in the CBD will be issued, says Khojane Madiba, local economic development officer at the municipality. Kroonnuus asked readers on the Kroonnuus Facebook page to give their comments in this regard. Visit www.facebook/Kroonnuus to see what residents have to say about parking in the CBD.

Both parties feel that this will be a step in the right direction and that current
projects can also be expanded. However, both parties do realise that problems cannot be resolved overnight, but by working together, a difference can be made,” Cordier said. The planned CCTV camera system will be provided to the Moqhaka Municipality by Corcomm Security for a period of three months to evaluate the
effectivity, especially during the coming festive season. “The video footage will be analyzed by a handicapped person and information will be supplied to involved parties and the South African Police Service (SAPS) to aid law enforcement and any other actions,” Cordier said.

Meanwhile, heavy trucks that are found driving through town will be pounded and owners will pay heavy fines, Madiba says. The CCTV cameras will be installed in Cross and Reitz Street and at other hot spots in town.
