We really take pride in managing this sale! We love bringing two powerhouse programs like Virginia Ranch and Beechinor Bros. Simmentals together for so many obvious reasons including the immense quality of cattle that can be offered in one event from breeders who not only are at the top of their game but bring a bucketful of good will, customer service and positive energy as built in bonus's!!! They do offer cattle that are from their respective “front ends”. It gets better. Eagle Ridge Simmentals once again adds to the aforementioned with their outstanding reputation of breeding highly productive Simmental females, the proof here would be looking at the past success history of John and Stefon Beechinor’s top selling Fullblood cattle for many years and “connecting the dots” that most of them were made from Eagle Ridge cow families. Next, the Langer program has always been dedicated to combining proven genetics with modern day ones and it has shown success marketing both male and female progeny. The Spruce View Acres cattle “fit the bill” perfectly from a quality perspective to be at the Western Harvest and may win the award for the quietest cattle in the country!
Please join us the Innisfail Auction Mart, one of the most accommodating sales facilities there is, for the Western Harvest Sale, even if you aren’t in a buying mode, you will appreciate the quality of cattle and quality of people. Tymarc Livestock, who have been a founding consignor to the Western Harvest, will be dispersing their excellentl herd of Red Simmental with us this day too, so that brings a big bonus to the day as well. Give us a call to help in anyway,

Harry & Michelle Satchwell & family
On behalf of our entire family at Virginia Ranch we welcome you to the 7th Annual Western Harvest sale. Whether you will be joining us online, or plan to venture to the sale, or have shown an interest in our consignments via phone calls & private farm tours – we sincerely appreciate each and every one of these gestures. We strive to provide functional females that originate from sound uddered, correctly built, reliable cows. We have a full herd health managed program and prior to breeding these heifers received their booster shot of Bovishield Gold one shot and Covexin Plus. The heifers did not come off of pasture until Oct 6th and were pictured a few days later – so you are viewing them here in their working clothes with no extra feed in them.

Full Fleckvieh One of our feature heifers – Poppy is a polled Banker daughter. She definitely has the potential to be one of your topped polled cows as her mother has been a stand-out for us. Her dam has given us a great calf each and every year. We sold a polled Radison son to Stout Bros. in 2016. Sold a full brother of Poppys in 2018 to Delight Simmentals for $18,000, and calved out a full sister this past January. Poppy should be one of the best polled Fleckvieh heifers to sell this fall. Full Fleckvieh Pansy is out of a 14 year old superior cow – IPU Ronda 45T; she was one of the high selling females out of the 2008 Simmsational sale. This old cow has done it all! Every year she comes in with a marketable calf. In 2018 at the Western Harvest sale, Applecross Simmentals bought her full sister for $15,000 and in 2019 we kept her other full sister in our herd. Ronda had twin Virginia Marquee heifer calves in 2020 and still bred back to calve again this coming January 2021. Run Ronda 45T up on the CSA website there are too many progeny to mention here! Full Fleckvieh Orchids’ full sister was one of our high sellers last year, selling to Kuntz Simmentals. She also has a full brother at Brian Millers of Okotoks, AB which sold for $14,000. Orchids’ mother is one of our top Romano daughters. We have retained three of her daughters in our own herd. Look at her pedigree – of note there are two other powerful cows in it; CEN Lucy 533L and MRLN Henny. You should run each of these 3 cows up on the CSA site, as you will be very impressed with what each of them has done.

Michelle and I would like to welcome you to the 7thth Annual Western Harvest Bred Heifer Sale. What a year we have been through. It definitely wasn’t what we had in mind and it is easy to stare at all the negatives. However, agriculture has had its true colors revealed and others outside the realm now have an understanding and see the importance of what we do. Again, we feel extremely fortunate to be joining this outstanding group of consigners and look forward to the fabulous set of heifers that will be assembled for your appraisal. With this year being, how should I say it…..., different, we will be videoing the heifers to help you with your selections. Our heifers came home at the end of September to prepare for picturing day and have been on a TMR diet. We error on the side of caution when feeding these heifers as we believe a fat heifer likely won’t work out. If you are in our area, please feel free to stop in for a visit and take a look at the heifers. If you aren’t driving by please call with any questions you might have on our offering and we will be glad to assist you.
Full Fleckvieh The tank…… Vanessa is as deep as they come. She has been a looker from the day she was born and has developed into an outstanding bred heifer. As she approaches her due date we are extremely happy with her udder attachment and overall udder correctness. Vanessa’s dam, 615D, is moderate made female that is loaded with maternal power. The Ingrid cow family is one of the strongest lines we have for consistent production. Stacked with Viper and Elevation on top of that you should expect nothing more than for this girl to bring in top calves year after year. Tested Dilutor

Full Fleckvieh Lisa is a moderate framed heifer with good depth of rib and a heavy dark red hair coat. Although smaller in stature she is full of meat and is extremely easy on the eyes. She is backed by a moderate made Magnum daughter that is dark cherry red. The magnum daughters are impressing us more as they age with their easy fleshing ability and their ability to raise offspring with that little extra muscle in their hind end. Again, Ebony is dropping an exceptional udder which should come as no surprise. Elevation’s pedigree is loaded with outstanding udders and perfect teat size. I spent many hours travelling the countryside looking at sisters to Elevation prior to his purchase and walked away knowing that the udder strength in his females wouldn’t be a question. Her maternal sister calved this spring and raised one of our top 5 replacement females in the 2020 group as a first calver. Her mother continually raises top end calves and crossed with Elevation I am positive this female will go on to do great things. Full Fleckvieh Tinker is a dark red, big framed female that is loaded
with potential. She is a powerful heifer that will raise calves that are desirable to what the markets are demanding. Her extra length of spine doesn’t take away from her overall mass. Tinker’s dam, 311A, has been an outstanding female for us raising bulls that are always extremely well received. Part of this is due to the fact that her offspring are always dark red in color with long spines and deep bellies. Double Agent is a bull we walk from Oakview Simmentals as the high seller in their sale that spring. With Jahari, Helga and the Pixie cow his females should be great producing cows. She is a Dirty Harry daughter that has been a very productive female and we are looking forward to working with her for years to come. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Magnum this spring due to injury. The Magnum females around the farm always produce strong calves. With Magnum only being available through AI there will only be limited opportunities to get a daughter. Tested Non Dilutor

Full Fleckvieh Tracy is a dark red, long spined heifer with lots of rib capacity. We have really enjoyed watching this female develop. She is the daughter to a first calver, 711E, who we have high hopes for and was one of our top females in her respective year. Looking at Tracy’s pedigree only makes her more valuable with her lines connecting to some top names such as Antonius, She Devil, Helga 10Y, Impact, and Viper. Her early February Jagr calf should be a great cross. Jagr’s first set of calves were born easy and grow into animals that are noticeable in bull and heifer pens. Tested Non Dilutor

Demi is as dark red as they come. She is a female that I have been admiring for a long time with her extra depth of rib and easy fleshing ability. Her dam, 643D, is a maternal sister to the great Yara flush cow that is and will continue to be apart of great Rust Mountain View Ranch herd. Challenger, Demi’s sire, was the high selling bull in the Skors bull sale in 2018 and we are extremely happy with his offspring to date and are looking forward to calving his first daughters this winter. We put in a large number of Nydam embryos in 2018 and these two girls are the results crossing her to Red Whiskey. We couldn’t decide which one to keep and which one to sell, therefore, we are going to let you be the ones to decide. To date we haven’t let a direct Nydam daughter go but with three in production and a few more coming up we felt it was time to offer one up. Both of these females are deep from their heart through to their flank and should become productive corner stone cows. The full brothers to these heifers have been heavily muscled and have all had great hair coats. Nydam is an extremely deep bodied cow that has been our top red flush cow since her arrival from the Kopp dispersal. To make it a bit harder on you both of these girls are carrying services to Black Gold Approval. To date the calves have been born with ease and are blood red in color. They have tremendous hair coats and are stout made.

Ms Rancher is a deep bodied, blaze faced heifer. She is a grand daughter to the female maker Springcreek Liner 56U. I would expect this female to out produce her self year after year. We all have that cow that maybe doesn’t have that special look but has the ability to raise top end calves. I have a gut feeling that this is exactly what Ms Rancher will be. Low input but high output, the money makers. As a young calf I really liked this calf and her flashy look, so much so that I bred her mother back the same way and by chance a got another heifer. As I sat with Daryl and tried to decide which one of these heifers to put in the sale it became more and more apparent how similar they were. If it wasn’t for ear tags I would have to have a real close look at these two to tell them apart. I thought for sure with the extremely cold weather at breeding time that one of them would miss her AI service and that would be the one to stay home. However, both heifers caught early to RF/Rust Stimulus. At this point we decided a choice lot was needed to break the tie. IPU Priority 197E, their dam, was a high selling blaze faced female at Labatte’s bull and female sale. This year she produced an outstanding Combustible bull calf and he is hard not to notice as you walk the pen. Go ahead and take your pick because we are excited to bring the other one home. Where to start on this female? I guess from the beginning! Untouchable’s mother, 748E, is now one of three full sisters that are currently working for us. The second we own in partnership with Skyline Simmentals and the third is an extremely nice heifer in the replacement pen. To say we know the bottom side of this pedigree is an understatement. Also, we feel that there will be plenty of females available from them which allows us to sell this quality female. Not to say that she won’t be missed. I have waited a long time to calve out a Skors High Roller 34C female and am hoping to have more in the future. Untouchable was the first calf from 748E and has always had the special presence to her. She is dropping an incredible udder and look forward to watching her do great things in the future. Welcome all to another great edition of the Western Harvest Sale. We all know what a year it has been so I’m sticking with the positive. We have lots of feed! In 28 years of raising cattle here, I have never said those words. The water tables are up and the cattle look great. Life is good! We are bringing something a little different to the sale this year. In our offering we have 2- 2year old bred heifers and 2 extra age heifers. All four heifers are going to be strong matrons in their new homes. Showcasing daughters of Virginia Mission, United and Rendevous Prince Charles. These 3 herdsires are leaving some tremendous females in our herd and we decided to share a few with you. We would also like to wish Tymarc Livestock all the best in their dispersal sale. They have been an integral part of the Western Harvest Sale and will be missed by many people in the Simmental family. Feel free to stop by any time and look at the heifers. It would be a pleasure to show them to you! Thanks to all bidders and buyers for your support. Footnotes shared for lots 44 & 45 This is something a little different that I wanted to try. Over the last few years I would sell some of my fullblood heifers that really caught my eye who were either born out of heifers, born later (for our calving season) or maybe had a smaller birth weight, to top commercial cattlemen. I really felt these heifers had a lot of promise 24
and were too good to ship in the fall and knew they would excel if they only had a little extra time to mature. Not that they were runts or anything of that nature. If they would have been, they would have been gone long before that. When we would be invited to see these heifers in the summer, I would kick myself and tell Steve on the way home, “I should have kept them” but being that we breed mid February and expecting a heifer calf out of a heifer or a February calf to have the maturity as our heifer calves born in December from our mature cows is a little unfair to them in my opinion. If I wanted to keep these heifers, I would have to breed them later. Since I don’t want to be breeding in the summer, the only option I had was to keep them over for the year, and I’m not disappointed with the results. These two heifers were chosen for the sale for 3 reasons. First, they are like 2 peas in a pod. It’s hard to pick which is the better heifer. They have beautiful udders developing, perfect feet and are thick, thick, thick. Secondly, I want to really showcase our Virginias Mission bull. I keep getting asked, “When are you selling some Mission calves?”. With both of these heifers out of Mission, I knew the time was now. When looking in the pens at the Mission calves, my footnote continued on next page

continued from previous page eyes kept getting drawn to the two of them. They just stood out. Mission has been a dream bull for us. We have used him heavily on heifers with great results for the last few years and will be used heavily for the first time on cows. Mission calves easily on heifers with the calves getting up to nurse within 10 minutes. And thirdly, Jazzs’ Dam has the top replacement heifer calf in the pen this year and Showgirls’ Dam has the top bull calf in the pen. These 2 heifers were never meant to be sold. With their natural thickness and capacity, they were to be used as foundation cows in our new polled program. I knew I would have to send these footnotes in before I changed my mind.

Full Fleckvieh Cream Soda comes out of a Beechinor cow we bought a few years back who was one of the high sellers at that sale that year. Meeka is a beautiful, front pasture cow at the place and I have waited a few years to get a heifer out of her, especially a United one. If there is one thing Meeka does well is making her calves correct. She is flawless. Cream Soda will follow in Meeka’s footsteps. Being bred to Mission is going to be the cherry on top. I don’t think I will be selling many United daughters in the next couple of years or so. I’ve sold a few over the last while and I think it’s time I kept a few back, since we tend to keep getting bull calves out of him, so I wanted this one to be a real good one.

Dark Angel is the first female to sell off Rendezvous Prince Charles 586E. Like our other Prince Charles daughters, Dark Angel is dark red, has tons of hair, is setting up a nice udder with a good disposition to boot. Her dam goes back to one of my most dependable and favorite cow families, Justine. We lost Justine suddenly on pasture last year so every heifer I have from her will be treasured. The Princey heifers are some of my most favourite ever at the farm and I can’t wait until the first granddaughters start arriving. Princey, as he is known here, was the second, high selling bull a couple of years ago at Rendezvous Farms bull sale going for $27,000 and is a son of the famous $75,000, LHVS Charles 29C. The Charles son’s have done incredible for Rendezvous Farms and Lockhart Valley Simmentals at their bull sales. Princey is one of the best footed and longest bulls we have ever had here and one of the easiest to work with too. We couldn’t believe our luck when we were the lucky buyers. We were excited when he arrived a couple of years ago and we are even more excited about him now. Dark Angel is bred to Virginias’ Mission, so it doesn’t get any better than that. If I have my way, there won’t be too many of these Princey daughters put up for sale, Steve.

We like this heifer lot. Her mother is a good producing 12 yr old cow that brings in a top calf year after year. We have retained her female offspring and they display the great maternal traits that we like such as great udders, good feet, easy calving and good growth. Gerald from Crossroads Farms told us when we bought Crossroads Boundary, to keep every female out of him!! We have kept most of them, and they are excellent cows, we wanted to share some of the Boundary offspring with fellow breeders. Guma is bred early to a polled full fleck that is a very easy calving sire. We think she will be a great trouble free investment.

Full Fleckvieh Graison is another Boundary daughter out of an 11 yr old matron, who has a 100% calf weaned record. She has a moderate frame and has nice udder development, a quiet temperament, and should be a steady producer. We have sold some great heifers and bulls out of the dam on this girl. Some great longevity in the two Boundary daughters on offer this year. Graison is bred early to Grinalta’s Admiral who is a dark red, long bodied sire with polled genetics.

Full Fleckvieh Kaloni is an outstanding heifer with a bulletproof pedigree. With Westdrums Andrew and Barbi sitting up close in the gene pool you can expect elite females and that’s what we believe Kaloni will be. She is a very pretty, well mannered, dark red blaze faced heifer, lots of body and thickness with an outcross but very proven pedigree. Westdrums Andrew has sired some of the most well-known females in the industry including the great Helga 10Y who was also the dam to bulls such as Legend, Impact and Rusty. Virginia Pioneer is a full sib and flushmate to Virginia Ms West Patty who spent some time at the top of the fleckvieh world producing females like Virginia Treasure and Virginia Jane West who’s progeny are still toping sales to this day. LFS Kaloni will be a sound choice to add to your program and her Supreme calf will sure to impress.

Polled Full Fleckvieh We really like the Rugged R Bellagio calves we have had so far. The bulls were very well received at the Next Step bull sale and Tahlia is a great example of the quality his daughters will have to offer. Tahlia is absolutely stunning with her dark red pigmentation, her long, deep body and unbeatable temperament. She has lots of thickness, good bone structure and complete outcross polled genetics. She will be homo polled tested and results will be available sale day.
