COVER STORY The tale of Elle Macpherson reads like a Grecian myth. ‘The long-limbed beauty emerged from the crystal waters, her long hair flowing in the breeze as droplets of water caught the sunlight, falling from her daring red bikini. Though suitors abundant, this goddess would not set ships to sail or crumble kingdoms; she would build her own empire and possess an immortal glow that earthbound creatures would spend their lives trying to emulate.’ The latest addition to the legend of Elle is Elle Macpherson Body - lingerie with such flawless fit, form and function, it will fast earn a shrine of its own in your wardrobe. Elle gives Label the latest on the Body business, her wellness secrets and her new collaboration for the festive season.
The Label office is coveting Elle Macpherson Body’s original aesthetic. What attitude inspired the 19 story, 364 piece collection? Elle Macpherson BODY is Australian lingerie with a strong, modern aesthetic. Its essence lies in simplicity and freedom. Dynamic simplicity is the hallmark of this collection. What industry flaws sparked the brand’s modern approach to lingerie styling and manufacturing? Today, I am more experienced so I know what I’m doing; I now understand what kind of lace is going to be just right for the wings of the bra, or if it should be net or micromesh. It’s about the application of experience, and the freedom to be as creative as I want. When designing I’ve realised that not one shape fits all body types. In The Body Collection my aim is to create the perfect t-shirt bra. We designed six bra silhouettes and six knickers shapes, including the Bodysuit in eight fashion forward colours that still look great under white. The Bodysuit is designed to be really versatile - worn with cut off shorts, jeans, or a suit - it works day to night or perfect on its own! The collection showcases details including modern paper-touch fabric, geometric laces, rose-gold hardware and masculine-feminine styling. The collection brings together a series of juxtapositions: Blaze, for example, marries fine leavers lace with sports elastic, Lash brings together retro-printed paper-touch and distinctive eyelash lace and Dash blends a sporty front fastening bra with provocative back detail. There is also a permanent collection of knickers; wearable, covetable staples that prove that lingerie can be beautiful as well as comfortable. Tell us about the signature colours of the collection and how Elle Macpherson Body formulated the perfect nude? I believe that true luxury is comfort and style. I looked at a lot of fashion for my colour palette – Gucci, Prada – and found colours which work under clothes. At the heart of the collection is “The Body”, a selection of modern, sport-inspired t-shirt bras and knickers in microfibre air tech with clean lines, new proportions and bold fashion colours like citronelle, ginger, winetasting and Mykonos blue. The nude offering is called ‘sand’ and is so warm on the body it makes regular nudes look bland. What is your favourite piece in the collection? That is hard for me to choose as I love everything within the collection. I’m wearing the “edge” triangle underwire bra and matching knickers at the moment - it’s so cool, modern and perfect - a low cut front with streamline proportions - still sexy and yet comfortable. How have women’s lingerie desires changed since you first became interested in the industry? After 25 years in the lingerie category, I have designed a range that is as much about attitude as it is about lingerie. These days, women are wearing the lingerie in so many different ways – the aim was to create a collection that was accessible for all women of all shapes and sizes. Our range allows women to experiment but still have a strong sexy aesthetic. Each piece has been designed to be seen from every angle. When a women undresses she tends to turn around. I wanted everything to look incredible from the back. How did you select the face of Elle Macpherson Body? Who is the Elle Macpherson Body woman? The Elle Macpherson BODY brand campaign was shot by long time
friend and mentor Gilles Bensimon. Gilles and I chose our model Kirsten for her natural athletic body - a new type of sexy - and found when she put on the lingerie, she made it her own, cool and irreverent. Kirsten is Danish but she embodies this free spirit of Australia. I think the DNA of Australia is very freedom-oriented; I wanted to capture that in my imagery and in the product. Together, I feel we created an incredible special campaign that truly epitomises the brand, reflecting the Australian lifestyle and its signature fresh, uncontrived spirit. What are the best diet, exercise and wellbeing practices for models preparing for a lingerie shoot? My mum would say ‘water water water’! I also believe in beauty from the inside out – good nutrition, the value of sleep and lots of love and laughter. How do you maintain your wellness while you’re on a press tour? I’ve been extreme in many ways in the past – everything from exercising a lot to being really strict with my diet, taking too much sun. Today it’s about finding balance. I co-founded WelleCo along with my business partner Andrea Bux in 2014. My nutritionist, Dr Simone Laubscher helped formulate THE SUPER ELIXIR Alkalising Greens designed to work together to support the body in one easy to absorb daily supplement. Our offering has grown from our signature SUPER ELIXIR Alkalising Greens and pure plant-based Protein supplements, to good, clean kids nutrition and anti-anxiety tea. It certainly is something I now incorporate into my daily life and am extremely passionate about. What products are in your beauty bag when you travel? SUPER ELIXIR travel sachets, paw paw ointment, suncream (a must!) and of course water. We’ve read about your partnership with Simon De Winter. How does your personal brand identify with The Lew Group? I wanted my partner to be an Australian company as this is my heritage and it means a lot to me. I’ve lived all over the world, but Australia is still home. What key aspects do you look for when forming a business partnership? It was incredibly important for me to establish a partnership with meaning, with a company with whom I felt I could execute a new and inspiring vision. I’m delighted to be working with Simon de Winter, one of the country’s most successful apparel entrepreneurs. We were aligned from the outset. What business venture are you most proud of to date? Launching Elle Macpherson BODY here in MYER and David Jones stores has been a huge privilege and I am thankful for the support of both the retailers and the customers in this adventure. We have concept stores around the country and new product coming in on a monthly basis so that women always have something fresh to see when they visit their local MYER or David Jones. Since launching WelleCo’s signature THE SUPER ELIXIR Alkalising Greens, it’s been a fast trajectory upwards, with growth in staff and wellness products that we now offer globally. This Christmas I am excited to have a collaboration with Aerin Lauder – a giant gold caddy!

Label ventures to Russia, a land where fashion is fierce, forward and fearless. Season 33 of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia saw more than 70 designers show at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall, debuting spring/summer styles and ‘see now buy
now’ collections. Russia hosted designers from Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and beyond, reinforcing their position as a global fashion force. Nineties throwbacks appeared in Oksana Fedorova, while Julia Dalakian and Alena Akhmadullina took us back a little further with the jumpsuits we need this summer. Bella Potemkina embodied the coveted pyjama dressing of now, as Ksenia Seraya and Vera Kostyurina took on tougher textures. F+H Jewellery F+H Jewellery is not fit for a princess. Sharona Harris creates pieces that inspire such toughened luxury that only a vixen can carry the intrigue they inspire. When a fox follows a vixen to her den, he will never know his way back to the meadow – and that’s if she lets him go at all. Where did your jewellery design journey begin? Owning a jewellery brand was never something I planned, however I saw a gap in the marketing for a modern jewellery brand with a luxe aesthetic, as most other jewellery available was either very fine or very bohemian, neither of which suits my style. I love dark, luxurious, styling with an edge and F+H Jewellery reflects this. What was the first piece of jewellery that made you fall in love with the industry? I think this seasons ‘Bianca’ maxi-hoop earring is everything I love about jewellery, it’s fun, bold and like all good accessories it transforms a bland outfit into a killer look. Every girl needs the perfect hoop earring, and this is it. How would you describe the F + H aesthetic? The F+H aesthetic is strong, modern and a little bit rock and roll. What has been your favourite design to date? The ‘Debbie’ femme earring is my favourite, it’s a simple in design, based on the Venus femme symbol, but it is also a really fun piece because of its retro disco vibes. Where do you seek inspiration? I am very inquisitive so for me inspiration can come from anywhere! I am always searching for past inspiration or new ideas from all forms of media; books, movies, music etc. My latest collection ‘Night Fever’ was inspired by vintage photos of Studio 54…. And my next collection is inspired by 80s supermodels… so the key is just to be open and let the inspiration come to you. Which pieces do we need to wear this summer? My ‘Bonnie’ leather neck tie is a luxury version of this seasons leather jewellery trend, the ‘Grace’ hammered neck collar is perfect for special occasions and the ‘Jackie’ cross thread earring is the perfect piece to wear everyday to give you look a little bit of edge. Who would you be most excited to see wearing F + H? Two words. Kate. Moss. What is your ideal day away from your desk? With my husband and dog at North Stradbroke Island for a day of surfing, rock pools and long walks. I always feel so rejuvenated when I go there and because phone reception isn’t very good I am also forced to have a digital detox from social media for a few days… which is heaven.

Remove the grapes from the vine, wash and cut in half. Place in a bowl with the pomegranate seeds, olives, rocket and mint.

Heat the olive oil in a non-stick frying pan over high heat. Pan-fry the haloumi for 1 minute on each side or until golden.

Add the vinaigrette to the salad and toss to combine. Divide the salad and haloumi among four serving plates and sprinkle with the za’atar. Serve immediately.

Those generous folks at Moo Moo have shared their recipe for the divine Bang Bang Duck. CURE MIX • • • • • • • •
Sea salt 1000g, 2 bunches of coriander root 2 cinnamon sticks 10 garlic cloves 30g Sichuan peppercorns 10 medium red chillis 2 Duck Maryland Salt and cure the duck for six hours, then remove all cure mix of duck legs before confit the duck fat overnight at 80 degrees.

1 Wombok cabbage, chiffonade (very thin slices) green shallots, thinly sliced shitake mushrooms, lightly sautéed with olive oil (served at room temperature) large red chilli (Julienne cut) Amaranth leaves fried cavolo nero (or kale ) watercress and mustard cress Duck & Sesame Crisps 1 tbs finely minced garlic 1 tbs Truffle Salt 1 tsp Ground white pepper 150g duck breast meat (no fat) 1 tbs black sesame seeds 175g Tapioca flour 1 tbs plain flour 6 tbs water
1. Place the garlic, salt, pepper, duck meat, together using your stick blender or bar blender blitz until smooth. 2. Sieve the flours together, mix until combined, then pour half of this into the bowl containing the duck paste. 3. Mix this in, then knead it into a stiff dough. 4. Pour the water into the other bowl of flour, mix this into a stiff dough. 5. Turn both dough balls out onto your work surface and knead together until totally combined and you have a smooth stiff dough. 6. Roll this dough into shape and steam the dough for 25 minutes until cooked. 7. Remove and using a sharp knife cut into shape place these into dehrydrator until dried. 8. Fry in clean oil and remove them from the oil as soon as they have puffed season straight after removed from fryer.

TO FINISH Fry the duck leg at 170 degrees for 4-5 minutes until crispy, pull apart leg using forks and dress duck with bang bang dressing, serve with garnish salad and a crispy duck cracker.

FOOLPROOF TIPS FOR BEING THE HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTESS ENTERTAINING AT HOME? Whether it is a casual backyard barbecue or a more formal dinner party, having guests in your home can be stressful. There is always someone who arrives early just as you are washing those pots and pans or tidying up the bathroom. Most guests will squeeze into the kitchen to chat watching you slice and dice destroying your perfectly cultivated domestic goddess vision. And your partner who is supposed to be settling the guests in has helped himself to a drink and settled himself in for some relaxed fun. The experts make it all look so easy don’t they? Perfectly balanced menus, inventive signature cocktails, beautiful table directions, outdoor evenings that are not overpowered by the smell of citronella… With a little bit of planning and a lot of good luck you too can entertain with ease.
• Guests tend to want to be where the action is and the kitchen is usually it. So instead of fighting it, hide those dirty pans in the dishwasher, set out a small tray of nibbles on the end of the counter furthest from where you are working and have some little tasks set aside for those who insist on helping or are shy in social settings. • If you are eating formally, take time to set the table with a nice table cloth and cutlery, perhaps a low centre piece too. Use place cards but decide these with care as you want to stimulate conversation, not cause arguments. •
Use the top of your sideboard if you have one to store extra utensils, water jugs, wine and napkins.
• As a host, your primary duty is to spend time with your guests. Don’t disappear between courses to make a start on the washing up. That can wait until everyone has left. • Allow time between the main meal and dessert. Let people stretch their legs. Perhaps serve it in the living room for a more casual feel. • Music is an essential part of creating an atmosphere. Start mellow, take it up and bring it back down.
TO SET OR NOT TO SET THE TABLE While you may want your dinner party to have a nice relaxed feeling, there is no denying that a formally dressed table makes a real impression. Yours doesn’t have to be over the top or cost the earth to do and can be a fun way to set the scene.
• Think about the food you are going to serve and plan the décor around that. Use a centre piece made from vases and pretty bowls but make sure it is not too tall as you want guests to be able to see each other. • Make sure your cutlery is clean and shining and use cloth napkins. •
Mix traditional and modern pieces and don’t be afraid of colour and pattern. White is so yesterday.

ENGINEERED DESIGN Engine, chassis, body. In every component of the 911, we have invested years of experience, thousands of ideas and countless hours of development. Even the smallest innovation would fill a book. Yet, it is only when all individual parts work as one that we see a particular principle emerge: a harmonious overall concept or – as our engineers sometimes call it – the unique technical layout of the 911. This principle has made the 911 fit for the future since 1963. 2+2 seats are the ideal concept for a compact and purebred sports car that nevertheless offers an astonishing amount of space and an airy feel. Then there is the compact engine in the rear end: the optimum drive concept for the 911. It is this position that helps to ensure excellent traction and lends the 911 its unique driving feel. The logical place for belongings in a rear-engined sports car is the luggage compartment at the front. This is key to good travel comfort, remarkable everyday practicality – and the strong individuality of an unadulterated sports car. The perfect basis for superlative sporty performance, which you can bring to the road day in, day out. DESIGN The design of the 911 shows where we come from and where our roots are. But it also shows the direction of our thinking and how we see the future. The design language, proportions and contouring follow the 911 tradition: with wings that are higher than the front lid; with headlights that are bulging and round; with a roof line that slopes down towards the rear over tapering side windows. The overall appearance is low, wide and sleek. Sports car proportions that originated on the racetrack. An icon? Certainly – but only because we continue its development.
Our designers focused on making the new 911 appear even more precise, and by doing so they created the blueprint for its future. With a new lighting design and characteristic four-spot LED daytime running lights, which have now been incorporated into the Bi-Xenon main headlights. With direction indicators that are even slimmer than they were before. For a Porsche that is recognisably a 911, even from a distance. The front has been reshaped for an even sportier look. The air intakes are larger, the design is even more succinct. In the side air intakes, new active air intake flaps control aerodynamics and cooling performance as required. In summary: the new 911 shows plenty of bite from the front. And the future has whetted its appetite. The rear encapsulates the heart of the 911: the engine. This is where it has been beating since 1963. With the introduction of the new drive configuration, it beats harder than ever before. Some parameter tweaking was therefore required, including in the design. First, then, let us explain the function before we come to the form. A combustion engine without air cannot do any work at all. That’s physics. A Porsche engine needs a lot of air to breathe. That’s motorsport. And the turbocharged drive layout of the new 911 Carrera and 911 Targa 4 models inhales more than ever, thanks to the longitudinally arranged slats of the rear lid grille. Conspicuous, in the best sense of the word, is how to describe the prominent, three-dimensional LED taillights. They create a sculptural look, also typical of the 918 Spyder. A design for tomorrow, combined with engineering for a new era. A hallmark of the all-wheel drive models is the seamless light strip on the rear. For the new 911 models, it has been further refined. It is narrower and appears to seep into the taillight units on either side, with an illumination that has never been so homogeneous – qualities that accentuate the 44 mm wider rear of the all-wheel drive body. The design of the single-tube tailpipes in stainless steel – two-tract on the S models – is new. Inspired by the 911 GT3: the centrally positioned tailpipes of the optional sports exhaust system. For harmony of form, function and sound. Sharp, sporty and timeless. The contouring of the rear is even more clearly defined, making it look wider, brawnier and more heavily built. Lifestyle Clauses in Pre-Nups THE UNFAITHFUL PARTNER
Prenuptial Agreements (“Pre-nups”) are now binding in Australia, provided they have been prepared and executed fairly and properly, and independent legal advice has been obtained. A Prenuptial Agreement is an agreement between two people who are about to enter into a relationship with each other, or marry. A Cohabitation Agreement is an agreement between two people who are already in a relationship. Prenuptial Agreements and Cohabitation Agreements are called Financial Agreements under the Family Law Act 1974 (Clth). Financial Agreements provide how, in the event of breakdown of the relationship or marriage, all or part of the property or financial resources of the parties to the Agreement are to be dealt with. Financial Agreements can also provide for the maintenance of either partner (spousal maintenance). They can also deal with “incidental” matters and “other matters”.
Prenuptial Agreements and Cohabitation Agreements may also include clauses setting out what is to happen if one of the partners is unfaithful to the other partner. For example, the Financial Agreement may say that if the parties separate in circumstances where neither partner has been unfaithful to the other, then the property is to be divided equally between them. However if one partner commits an act of adultery, then the unfaithful partner might only be entitled to 20% (or 0%) of their joint property, with the rest going to the partner that has remained faithful. This may be reintroducing “fault” into a property settlement. Under the “no fault” laws generally applied by the Courts with respect to divorce and property settlement, entering into a Financial Agreement of this kind may enable partners to re-introduce “fault” and “consequences” into their relationship.
LIFESTYLE CLAUSES
ARE LIFESTYLE CLAUSES ENFORCEABLE?
It is possible that “other matters” may include “lifestyle clauses”. Lifestyle clauses are paragraphs in a Financial Agreement that dictate how the parties will live their life together. Lifestyle clauses are becoming increasingly popular in Prenuptial Agreements, and are also helpful for same sex couples. Common examples on lifestyle clauses are: 1. Who will be primarily responsible for cooking the family meals, attending to the household chores, and transporting the children to and from school (and everywhere else), 2. Who will be primarily responsible for earning an income for the couple (or the family), and; 3. Who will provide for the children’s education, choice of school and choice of child care providers. Some extreme examples of lifestyle clauses may be: 1. Restrictions on the use of social media and the time spent on “i-thingy’s”; 2. Restrictions on hours of television watching, and even the type of programs that may be viewed; 3. Restrictions on sports, and positive obligations on how much exercise is expected of both partners; 4. Restrictions on how much body fat each partner is allowed to have; 5. Restrictions on how long relations and friends will be able to stay over at Christmas, and other times of the year; and; 6. Expectations of sexual intercourse (how often, or even not at all!)
Whether the Courts will enforce any or all of these lifestyle matters is yet to be determined, and it also raises questions as to how some of these lifestyle clauses could be enforced. How do you enforce an agreement regarding the frequency of sex, and what defences might the party at fault be able to raise (not tonight love I have a headache?). Most of the extreme lifestyle clauses would, correspondingly, be extremely difficult to enforce. However if (for example) adultery was able to be proven, then there should no reason why a resulting property division consequence should not be able to be enforced. However we must wait and see how the Courts will deal with lifestyle clauses. This should happen sooner rather than later, as they are “on the increase”.
FINANCIAL AGREEMENTS ARE STILL A GOOD IDEA
Overall, Financial Agreements are a still a “good idea” if you want to take away the ability of the Court to determine what is a fair division of property between you upon separation. However they must be done properly and strictly in accordance with the Family Law Act, which is why you will always need a Family Law Solicitor to prepare these documents, and to provide the necessary legal advice.
