Houses are decorated with pumpkins and lights, while children and adults alike prepare their costumes for one of the most anticipated nights of the year: Halloween. This celebration has become synonymous with creativity, where everyone can transform into their favorite character and hit the streets for candy. The classic "trick or treat" reminds us of the joy of childhood and the magic of sharing with the community.
But beyond the costumes and sweets, October also brings a time for reflection and civic responsibility. With the presidential elections just around the corner, it's crucial for citizens to take the time to get informed and prepare to vote. The future of the United States depends on the active participation of each individual, and this month is key to making our voices heard.

EL FUTURO DEL MUNDO

El futuro del mundo se encuentra en una encrucijada, y las elecciones presidenciales de Estados Unidos del 5 de noviembre se perfilan como un momento crucial que definirá el rumbo no solo de la nación, sino de todo el planeta. En un contexto global marcado por conflictos y tensiones, es imperativo que los ciudadanos estadounidenses comprendan la magnitud de su voto. Las decisiones que se tomen en la Casa Blanca influirán en cuestiones tan complejas como las guerras en Israel y Palestina, el terrorismo internacional, la crisis en Ucrania y las situaciones políticas en Venezuela y Cuba. La dirección que tome Estados Unidos en estos asuntos será determinante para la estabilidad y la paz mundial.
EL VOTO HISPANO:

The future of the world stands at a crossroads, and the U.S. presidential elections on November 5th are shaping up to be a crucial moment that will define not only the nation's course but that of the entire planet. In a global context marked by conflicts and tensions, it is imperative that American citizens understand the magnitude of their vote. The decisions made in the White House will influence complex issues such as the wars in Israel and Palestine, international terrorism, the crisis in Ukraine, and the political situations in Venezuela and Cuba. The direction that the United States takes on these matters will be decisive for global stability and peace.
THE HISPANIC VOTE:
Within this landscape, the Hispanic vote becomes essential. With approximately 32 million Hispanics eligible to vote, the Hispanic community represents a powerful electoral bloc. Their participation may be the key to shaping policies that affect not only them but the entire nation. Existen muchas trayectorias profesionales dentro de las disciplinas de la ingeniería, pero pocas se relacionan tan profundamente con nosotros, como seres humanos, como lo hace la ingeniería biomédica. No se trata de si necesitaremos atención médica alguna vez, sino de cuándo y qué tan compleja será. Aunque pueda parecer sorprendente, se requiere un enorme esfuerzo de ingeniería y diseño para crear desde una simple venda hasta dispositivos más complejos, como un catéter cardíaco, necesario en situaciones críticas que implican cirugías de vida o muerte.
La industria médica ofrece muchas subdisciplinas dentro de la ingeniería, pero en el área de manufactura destacan las ingenierías de manufactura y calidad, que se encargan de garantizar las operaciones diarias cumpliendo con los estándares de seguridad. Su objetivo es aprender de los errores de producción para minimizar las fallas en los productos, asegurando que el número de dispositivos defectuosos se acerque a cero. WHAT IS MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ABOUT FOR ENGINEERS?

There are tons of career paths that anybody can follow as they adventure into the engineering disciplines, but I do not find any discipline that relates more to use as a human being than the biomedical engineering industry. It is not a question of whether we will require any sort of medical attention but when and how complicated will it get. It might be a surprise but there is a lot of engineering and designing needed to create products ranging from a common bandage for a cut to a more complicated procedure that requires a cardiac catheter for a life-or-death situation that requires complicated surgeries.
There are plenty of subdisciplines in the medical industry for engineering but specifically in the manufacturing area, we have the manufacturing and quality engineering for the daily operations who are in charge of following the standards to keep the customers safe and learn from the unfortunate mistakes in manufacturing so that the number of products that malfunction can be as close to zero as possible. It is a great challenge that requires a lot of creativity from the engineers on-site because challenges have no limits in the 24hour operations that depend on us so that customers can have the products needed to survive in their weakest moments.
Tons of tools used in this field such as Six Sigma, kaizen, and root cause analysis allow all engineering teams to locate and correct issues so that patients can be safe.

Mantén tu Halloween seguro y divertido siguiendo unos simples pasos. ¡Recuerda que hay estadísticas aterradoras! Los niños tienen el doble de probabilidades de morir en Halloween que en cualquier otro día del año. Con más niños en las calles durante esta festividad, no es sorprendente. Recuerda: ¡estos accidentes son prevenibles!
La mayoría de las muertes de niños peatones en Halloween ocurren entre las 6 y las 7 de la tarde, en medio de la calle. Una de las razones es que muchas personas están regresando del trabajo a
esa hora. Dado que los niños son pequeños, a menudo no están en la línea de visión de los conductores. Por eso, los padres pueden hacer lo siguiente: mantenerse siempre cerca para vigilar cualquier peligro. Keep your Halloween safe and fun by following a few simple steps. Keep in mind there are some scary statistics out there! Children are twice as likely to die on Halloween than any other day of the year. With more children out on the streets during Halloween, it is not surprising. Remember – these accidents are preventable.
Most child pedestrian fatalities on Halloween happen between 6 and 7 in the middle of the street. One of the reasons is that many people are just getting home from work. Because children are small, they are often not in the line of sight of drivers. So here is what parents can do - always stay close enough to watch for danger. Put reflective tape on your child’s
costume or have them carry a flashlight or glow stick. Stick to using the sidewalks and cross only at crosswalks or street corners. Make sure costumes fit properly to prevent trips or falls. Face painting is a good alternative to a mask where visibility might be compromised.
Adults should have an alternate transportation plan in place. Many attend Halloween parties and don’t intend to drink much but end up consuming more alcohol than planned. Make sure you have another plan for getting home if you need it.
Pumpkin Carving is another activity that takes the lead in Halloween injuries. Rather than using sharp kitchen knives, use the small pumpkin carving tools that come in kits. Even better, let the adults do the carving and kids can scoop out the insides or draw on a face. Consider using battery operated candles instead of open flame candles for your jack-o-lanterns.
Keep it safe for trick or treaters by removing any tripping hazards from your yard and porch – these are things like garden hoses, toys, flower pots, and bikes. Check your outdoor lights and make sure they are working. Sweep any wet leaves from sidewalks and steps so no one slips. Decorate safely and use battery operated lighting instead of candles. Keep your pets inside.
Remind kids not to eat their candy until parents have had a chance to inspect it. Tell kids not to accept anything that isn’t commercially wrapped. When checking over the candy, make sure to remove any choking hazards like hard candies or small toys. Throw away anything that looks suspicious.
Halloween can be a fun and exciting holiday but it is important to think about safety. So stay plan your routes, stay alert, stay seen, never trick or treat alone, and check your child’s candy.

"Coco" is a Pixar animated film that has touched the hearts of audiences of all ages with its vibrant depiction of Día de Muertos. Released in 2017, the story follows Miguel Rivera, a young boy with the dream of becoming a musician, despite his family’s generational ban on music. Miguel embarks on an adventure in the Land of the Dead, where he discovers the deep connection between his family and his ancestors.
The film explores profound themes such as reconciliation and intergenerational healing. Through the bond between Miguel and his great-great-grandmother, the narrative illustrates the importance of understanding and healing past wounds to live a present life filled with understanding and without judgment towards our ancestors. *Coco* not only celebrates Día de Muertos as a time to honor those who have passed but also as an opportunity to reconnect with our roots and repair broken family ties. Heritage Academy ofrece clases pequeñas, lo que permite a los profesores brindar apoyo personalizado y asegurarse de que ningún alumno se quede atrás. “No seguimos avanzando en el currículo si los estudiantes se quedan atrás. Eso no es educación”, añadió.
La escuela también es flexible con aquellos estudiantes apasionados por los deportes. Gracias a un acuerdo estatal, los alumnos
pueden competir en equipos deportivos de escuelas públicas mientras continúan su formación en Heritage. “Les damos la base académica y ellos pueden destacarse en su pasión deportiva”, explicó Amanda.
En cuanto a las becas, la directora señaló que la escuela ofrece oportunidades para ayudar a las familias a cubrir los costos de matrícula. Aquellos interesados solo necesitan ponerse en contacto con la institución para recibir un formulario sencillo. “Los estudiantes motivados pueden enviarnos un correo o llamarnos, y llenar una solicitud sobre sus metas. Queremos hacer realidad esos sueños”, concluyó.

For Amanda, a student's success goes beyond passing subjects. “We care about each student as a whole, not just their performance in class. We want them to succeed in life,” she stated. Heritage Academy offers small class sizes, which allows teachers to provide personalized support and ensure that no student falls behind. “We do not advance in the curriculum if students are falling behind. That is not education,” she added.
The school is also accommodating to students passionate about sports. Thanks to a state agreement, students can compete on public school sports teams while
continuing their education at Heritage. “We provide them with the academic foundation, and they can excel in their sports passion,” Amanda explained.
Regarding scholarships, the director noted that the school offers opportunities to assist families with tuition costs. Those interested need only contact the institution to receive a simple form. “Motivated students can email or call us and complete an application regarding their goals. We want to make those dreams a reality,” she concluded.

SHRIMP TACOS WITH MANGO AND CILANTRO
Ingredients:
• 250 grams of cleaned shrimp

• Juice of 1 lime
• Corn tortillas
• Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
