s July rolls around, we’re entering prime summer boating season, filled with long days of sunshine, afternoons on the water and evenings spent grilling. While some of you may still be practicing social distancing and some of you may be escaping to the water to unwind, I think everyone can agree that it’s never a bad time to plot out your next boating Rochester’s Harborfest adventure — no matter how big or small. You’ll have plenty of new and perhaps known destinations to choose from in this month’s Summer Hotspots issue. Our Port of Call takes us to Rochester, New York, an excellent city for a weekend away for history, art and craft beer lovers alike (p. 38). If you’d like to really change things up for the remainder of your summer, check out our feature on 10 notable inland lakes worth visiting (p. 34). There is a lake for everyone, whether you’re looking to fish, get away from the hustle and bustle, or get your adrenaline pumping with some watersports. If your kids are getting a little older, maybe this is the summer when they take more responsibility on the boat. Diane Seltzer has good tips on ways to encourage your kids to step up as first mate. Whether you spend the summer exploring new hotspots or old haunts — or simply cruising from your couch — we hope you’re staying safe and healthy. See you on the water! ★
