Oncology Club Organizes Donation Drive for UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
The LECOM Oncology Club organized a donation drive for UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Donations supported the hospital’s snack cart, which provides children and their families easy access to snacks and small comfort items during their stay.
A proud partner of the Cleveland Browns, LECOM recently partnered with them to donate $5,000 to Cleveland MUNY Football Leagues for the purchase of AEDs.
Third-year Pharmacy student Sareen Mustafa and former Vice President of Marketing and Communications Matt Bresee represented LECOM at the ceremony Browns cornerback Denzel Ward hosted players and coaches for a game of flag football followed by a pizza party with CHOMPS the mascot.

ACOS and SAOAO Host PostOp Gift Bag Event
LECOM at Seton Hill’s American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) and SAOAO Clubs hosted a Post-Op Gift Bag Event in December. Members of both clubs packaged and distributed post-op gift bags to surgical patients at Independence Health. The bags included handwritten “Get Well Soon” cards, word puzzle books, pens, toys, and more.

Senior Living Center Employees Visit School of Dental Medicine
Occupational and physical therapists from the LECOM Senior Living Center taught students from Bradenton’s School of Dental Medicine how to move patients from wheelchair to dental chair using sliding board and pivot board transfers. Additionally, they discussed diseases and the management of transitions for older adults with cognitive, hearing, vision, and dexterity deficits. This was done as a part of the LIGHT Program, which focuses on training and educating students on geriatric sensitivity and working with older adults.
