HRD is mainly intended for those persons who are unemployed, underemployed, dislocated workers; or employed, but seeking skills upgrading or retraining. Training may include a variety of topics relating to job orientation and motivation, employability skills, self-sufficiency or customized skills training. Training length will vary according to customer needs. HRD can be linked to other college training programs or connected to agencies outside the institution where appropriate. North Carolina’s growth careers in manufacturing often involve installing, maintaining, and repairing increasingly technical equipment. The CDL and truck driving courses are designed to meet the training requirements set by the NC Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) to operate commercial vehicles, obtain commercial driver licenses and other endorsements associated with this field. The automotive courses prepare students with essential knowledge and skills to work in areas such as vehicle inspections, maintenance and repairs. It also prepares students with the necessary skills and techniques to work as auto body collision repair technicians. High School Equivalency Diploma (HSE Diploma) This program of instruction is designed to prepare adult students to pass the high school equivalency tests that lead to a high school equivalency diploma. English Language Acqusition (ELA) This program of instruction is designed for adults who lack competence in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing academic English. Adult High School (AHS) This program of instruction is offered cooperatively with local public school systems to help adults earn an Adult High School Diploma.

PUBLIC SAFETY https://www.lenoircc.edu/workforcedevelopment/publicsafety Lenoir Community College Public Safety Education Programs offer a variety of classes via the internet and the traditional classroom setting. Our programs are geared for the individual as well as hospital, EMS, fire, or law enforcement personnel who are interested in expanding their Theknowledge.Workforce Development and Continuing Education based EMS programs at Lenoir Community College do not currently offer advanced placement options. These programs include EMT Basic, EMT Basic Fast Track, EMT Basic Outreach, AEMT, AEMT Fast Track, Paramedic Academy, and Paramedic Outreach. Students in these programs are currently not allowed to transfer clinical hours or skills from other programs and must complete the required minimum clinical hours, field hours, and skills assessments to complete the program and be eligible for NCOEMS and NREMT testing. CERTIFIED VETERINARY ASSISTANT PROGRAM Prepares students to work in a veterinarian’s office or animal shelter. Areas covered include veterinary terminology, anatomy and physiology, animal behavior and communication, grooming techniques, proper handling and restraining of animals, obtaining and handling specimens, emergency care, and office management. This partnership was created to establish a training network for the position of Income Maintenance Caseworker with the Department of Social Services. ABOUT NC FAST • Students must complete two classes in order to finish the training. Classes are held two nights a week for 8 weeks and also online. • NC FAST includes two classes. The Part I class is a FEE-WAIVED class if you are unemployed or underemployed. Completion of the Part II class is required to receive a certificate and the cost is $130.00.
