M THE LTG Surf's up Dragons!! I hope you have enjoyed the month of July with all of our Division socials and service events!! This month was extremely packed; we had three service events in 10 days at some point in the month!! You are all so incredible for being very active even in the hottest of summers!! I would like to give thanks to the Kiwanis Clubs of Huntington Beach and Santa Ana, who both hosted joint events with us Key Clubbers!! If you didn't know, Kiwanis Club is our Parent organization; they allow us to exist!! Also, a huge thank you to Leslie Casillas, our Division News Editor for making plenty of flyers for us as well as this newsletter!! I hope you all are ready for what we have in store for August, Dragons!! -

-DIEGO SOLORIO

Hey Dragons!! Hope you all are having a splendid summer, especially with the awesome events provided by Key Club itself. In addition to enjoying your summer, I hope you all are enjoying these newsletters! This whole process has been something new but with the help and support of all of you, I've been able to learn and grow. Can't wait to see what this year has in store for us! -Leslie Casillas 7

OC PRIDE On June 22nd, Division 4 West attended the Orange CountyPride Parade. This consisted of Godinez and Saddleback High school key clubs walking within the parade wearing a “walk for aids shirt. The event was from 10:00 am to approximately 1:00 pm. About 20 Godinez Key Club members attended and contributed their support, allowing for 60 hours of service to be given out. The event as a whole was quite new and exciting since we walked in the parade. Our members showed their support for the LGBTQIA+ community by repping from color attire to colorful makeup. One aspect that caught everyone off guard was how short the actual walk was considering it was only about 10 to 20 minutes and as a club, we had to walk from our set arrival location to a mile to the location of the parade. Overall, the event was pretty successful and I would recommend Key Club doing it again.

-Crystal Diaz, Godinez

-THON

For the Duck-A-Thon, we first had to sign in at the volunteer station which went very easily. Beforehand, you’re required to fill out a wager and email it to them in order to have your name on their list. As long as you do your part in filling out all the requirements to be a volunteer, then everything will go very smoothly for you and your club. They will give you two options as to what your job is and those are working at bouncy houses or other games they may have or retrieving ducks from the oceans. Although they will use volunteers anywhere it is needed but those are generally the jobs they have. For us, we worked with some other people in retrieving the ducks from the ocean. The first duck that reaches shore is not to be touched by anyone else, but one of the organization's members because that first duck has the name of the winner who will receive various amounts of prizes. After that, we had baskets and waited or the other ducks to reach the shore for us to retrieve them.
