A word from the Boss
ROSS EMBLETON CHELTENHAM TOWN
“Disappointing to not have the opportunity to overlay and analyse the whole game. It’s difficult to not be able to look at what we did or didn’t do tactically because we had very little to base it on. I don’t want to make excuses, but the circumstances didn’t help. I’m disappointed we didn’t get any points. It’s a game we put to one side and move on, there’s not much that we could have done to change it.”
WIMBLEDON
“We want to bounce back; we give the players the opportunity to get more minutes under their belt. We go into it with a positive mindset following a good start to the season. We want to progress to the next stage and can do so with the right result tonight.”
TWO AWAY FIXTURES
“It’s been a positive start, but it can quite easily be cast aside because of the volume of Cup games so far. We can only try to win the games that we play. We’re a positive group, it’s going to be a tough couple of months with fixtures coming thick and fast, but we will do everything we can to embrace that.”
TRANSFERS
“Shad joining Aldershot on loan is a massive part of his development. He enjoyed a loan last year with Dover. I know he struggled at the weekend against Hartlepool but that’s what this is about. He has to go out and get minutes, perform, to show he’s capable of getting into our team. In regard to movement at the club I expect there to be some this week, but I’ve learnt it doesn’t always go according to plan. We have to be patient before we start getting excited.”

IT’S GOING TO BE A TOUGH COUPLE OF MONTHS WITH FIXTURES COMING THICK AND FAST, BUT WE WILL DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO EMBRACE THAT

JOBI McANUFF HAVING MISSED SO MUCH LAST YEAR I’M BUZZING TO BE BACK OUT ON THE PITCH
CHELTENHAM TOWN
BARROW & WALSALL
“Despite everything in the lead up to the match, we were still disappointed, particularly with the goals we conceded. From our point of view, defensively as a team, we felt we could have done more to prevent the goals. Overall the lads give everything in unusual circumstances.
“The way the schedule has panned out, this will happen, we know everyone else is dealing with the same packed fixture schedule. No matter where the games are, whether we’re travelling or at home it’s going to be busy and challenging. Cup games seem to have taken the majority of the start of the season, so a couple of league games will be nice to try and build some momentum, push up the table and get to where we want to be.”
There’s plenty we can take from the game; Cheltenham are a good side and they’ll be there or thereabouts this year.”
THE EFL TROPHY
BACK OUT ON THE PITCH
“It’s a good chance for us to get back on track, and put everything that’s being going on, behind us. We can attack the game knowing a positive result can get us through the group stage.
“I’m enjoying it. I love being back out there, whether that’s starting or coming on from the bench. Whatever the role, I’m happy to fulfil it. Having missed so much last year I’m buzzing to be back out on the pitch. I want to keep that going, I feel good, I feel strong and it’s about making an impact every time I get out there.”
The games are coming thick and fast, but we have a strong squad and we look forward to all the games that come our way.”

HOW MUCH COULD YOUR BUSINESS SAVE?
CRAIG CLAY +++++ START TO THE SEASON
“It has been a good start excluding Saturday. We have improved in certain areas and we’re looking to keep building. I’m confident for the season ahead.”
THE CURRENT PLAYING CONDITIONS
“It’s so strange. We have ten games in the next 30 days. I’ve never experienced that, not even in the National League! Everyone finds themselves in these circumstances. We have to crack on.”
THE SQUAD
“We have great depth. You could pick two different teams that can compete. That’s a great strength to have with games coming thick and fast.”
12
GET TO KNOW CRAIG CLAY Who do you support? Liverpool Favourite player past and present? Steven Gerrard, he has always been my favourite player. I would say I modelled my game on him growing up. Hopefully the goals come in my late years! Right now though, Sadio Mane is my favourite player!
Your dream 5-a-side team?
Best player you’ve played with? Luís Boa Morte. I played with him when I was a youngster at Chesterfield. He was obviously older, but he’s played at a high level. Best player you’ve played against? Niko Kranjcar. He was technically brilliant. Match day habits? When I first go out onto the pitch, I do five jumps and five knees to chest. Five is my lucky number.
MESSI
DE BRUYNE
GERRARD
VAN DIJK
Football boots do you wear? Nike Phantoms If you weren’t a midfielder, would you rather be a centre-back or a striker… why? Striker! I’d love to be a bagsman. That’s an easy pick. If you weren’t a footballer what career path would you choose? Accountancy! I’m currently studying right now. I loved PE and maths at school, so, I’m looking at accountancy or maybe being a PT. I love fitness.

SHAD JOINS THE SHOTS
E10 NEWS
YOUNG O’S DEFENDER SHAD OGIE HAS JOINED NATIONAL LEAGUE SIDE ALDERSHOT TOWN ON A MONTH-LONG LOAN. Ogie joined his new team mates at the weekend, and played the full 90 minutes, as Aldershot lost 2-1 to Hartlepool United. Head Coach Ross Embleton said: “It is vital for his development. He had a very good, albeit short, loan with Dover last season.” “This is going to give him some much needed game time,” Embleton added. “This move gives him a platform to get minutes under his belt, get fitter and more capable of pushing for a place here, when he returns.” Everybody at the club would like to wish Shad good luck whilst temporarily away from E10.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND CONGRATULATIONS TO CLUB HISTORIAN NEILSON KAUFMAN WHO TURNED SEVENTY LAST WEEKEND - NEIL IS A LOCAL LAD BORN IN SHOREDITCH ON THE 3RD OCTOBER 1950. Neil has written many books on Leyton Orient and subjects involving the club. An extremely helpful human being who’s love for anything O’s is unquestionable. Those of us who are interested in the history of the O’s have nothing but admiration and respect for Neil - a wealth of information and without him and his best friend, the late Alan Ravenhill all of this would have been lost.

A late, late goal from Conor Wilkinson pinched an O’s win at the Breyer Group Stadium. Orient had been two goals to the good thanks to Sam Ling and Danny Johnson, but a brace from Ben Wilson in the closing minutes looked to have sent the game to penalties.

Thank you for supporting Barts Charity Leyton Orient Football Club and its incredible fans have shown amazing generosity, helping us through the worst of COVID-19 and making for a safer and healthier East London community in the midst of a global pandemic. You’ve truly been there for our NHS staff and patients when they’ve needed it most. We’re particularly humbled to be receiving donations from the new home kit this season, generously sponsored by former player Harry Kane. As the dedicated charity for the five Barts Health NHS hospitals – including Whipps Cross – we fund innovations in patient care, pioneering medical research and vital support for doctors and nurses. This year, our NHS workers have gone to extraordinary lengths to care for our community. And that’s why we made £500,000 rapid COVID-19 funding available during the initial peak and have since given £3m for long term programmes focused on staff wellbeing and mental health.
