FANS ARE BACK!

FOLLOW THE O’S! 03

Today is Colin’s 9th Birthday! Have a great day!

A word from the Boss

ROSS EMBLETON BRISTOL ROVERS

“It was a good game. There was a good edge to it in terms of intensity. I think crowds being back helped that to a degree. Both clubs approached it in the right manner. We’re disappointed we didn’t get a result out of it – a result I felt we deserved.”

NEWPORT COUNTY

“They’re a good team. I like the way they’ve recruited in the summer. Michael Flynn has been open minded in the way he has evolved his team. I have a lot of respect for the way they go about things. They’ve had a very good start to the season but we don’t fear anybody.”

FANS BACK

“It’s nice to have an atmosphere, noise and people back into the stadium. We want it to be a positive and enjoyable experience for the people coming back! It was nice to hear people singing along. If people can continue to generate that, it will make us a better team.”

Captain’s column

JOBI McANUFF BRISTOL ROVERS DEFEAT

“I thought we performed really well with ten and eleven men. There were valuable minutes on the pitch for those who haven’t been playing recently. Some players did extra mileage because of the sending off. We really went out, performed – the result was disappointing, but the lads did everything they could to try and get a result. We have to take the positives from it.”

NEWPORT COUNTY AFC – UNBEATEN IN 6

“They’re a team we’ve faced in the FA Cup already this season, so, we know their qualities. They’re a team riding high at the top of the table. We think we acquitted ourselves well and we feel we have learned things from that game. They didn’t have it their way. They won the game because of a screamer. We’re at home, we fancy our chances. It’s a big game; the kind you want to play in. From our point of view, we will be looking to attack it and go and get a result.”

supporters, it will be their first time in the ground for a long time. We want to put a performance in for the fans and likewise, we hope they can get behind us and help us get a result.”

FOCUS ON THE LEAGUE

“I think good cup runs can help league form and I think it has for us. Cup fixtures also give lads the opportunity to play. Now we’re out of the competition, after giving everything we had, we have to face up to it – we’re out. We have to focus on the upcoming congested fixture list. It eases slightly in the New Year. We now know the league is very much our priority. That can help us focus. I’m big on perspective. As much as we’re disappointed to have lost two last week, we want to keep a broader view on things.

PLAYING IN FRONT OF FANS, THEY COULD BE THE 12TH MAN… “It was fantastic to have some supporters in. They make such a difference to the atmosphere. They give us a boost. It will be great to have some more today, we were limited midweek.

We’re in a real good place. We want to have a good December and put ourselves in the best position possible for the New Year. We want to consolidate, what has been a good start and then attack the new year.”

It’ll be great. I’m sure for a lot of the

JORDAN MAGUIRE-DREW +++++ THE O’S START TO THE SEASON…

“It’s been a real positive start from everyone. If we can get some more wins over the Christmas period, that takes us into the second half of the season in good stead.”

FOCUS IS NOW COMPLETELY ON THE LEAGUE…

“It’s only league games that we have to worry about now. We can go into each week knowing we want to get points to help us get into the play-off spots and even push for automatic If we can.”

THE RETURN OF FANS…

“It was so much better on Tuesday night. It felt like a football match, not a friendly. It was nice to see what it meant to the fans, to be there.”

Thank you for supporting Barts Charity Leyton Orient Football Club and its incredible fans have shown amazing generosity, helping us through the worst of COVID-19 and making for a safer and healthier East London community in the midst of a global pandemic. You’ve truly been there for our NHS staff and patients when they’ve needed it most. We’re particularly humbled to be receiving donations from the new home kit this season, generously sponsored by former player Harry Kane. As the dedicated charity for the five Barts Health NHS hospitals – including Whipps Cross – we fund innovations in patient care, pioneering medical research and vital support for doctors and nurses. This year, our NHS workers have gone to extraordinary lengths to care for our community. And that’s why we made £500,000 rapid COVID-19 funding available during the initial peak and have since given £3m for long term programmes focused on staff wellbeing and mental health. To find out more about how donations make a difference, please visit bartscharity.org.uk, drop us a line at hello@bartscharity.org.uk or call us on 020 7618 1717

ACADEMY

@1TOMKELLY

THIS WEEKEND, THE LEYTON ORIENT UNDER-18S TRAVEL TO MK DONS FOR THEIR NEXT EFL YOUTH ALLIANCE FIXTURE.

In the side’s most recent outing, it was a disappointing morning for the Orient, as Brian Saah’s side suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Peterborough United. Following the defeat, Saah spoke to leytonorient.com and said, “It’s a tough one to take, considering we played them on the Tuesday.” He later added: “The boys today just weren’t good enough. We gave the ball away far too many times in bad areas but, to be fair, they’re a good side and they punished us today.” Now, the O’s have an opportunity to rectify their back-to-back defeats in Peterborough, as they travel to Milton Keynes on Saturday morning. Saah’s side previously faced MK Dons back in mid-October, where they fell to a 3-1 defeat. As of late, it’s been a difficult few weeks for the Dons, as they’ve failed to pick up a single victory in their last five attempts, which included four straight defeats. However, their last fixture saw a 1-1 draw with AFC Wimbledon. HOW TO FOLLOW If you would like to keep up to date with the under-18s trip to Milton Keynes and other social content based around Leyton Orient’s academy, you can follow @LOFCAcademy on Twitter.

LOFC WOMEN AFTER DEFEATING EASTBOURNE TOWN IN THE THIRD QUALIFYING ROUND LAST WEEKEND, ORIENT WELCOME ACTONIANS FOR A FA CUP FIRST ROUND TIE IN THEIR FIRST FIXTURE AT THEIR NEW HOME IN HORNCHURCH.

@BRENDANPITCHER

The O’s come into this London derby in good form having lost just once in 90 minutes so far this season and will be looking to reach the Second Round of the F.A Cup for the second consecutive season. Speaking ahead of Sunday’s tie, O’s winger Hayley Barton emphasised the team’s eagerness to be back playing in front of the Orient faithful as they attempt to equal last season’s achievement of reaching the F.A Cup Second Round. “The team are excited to play at Hornchurch FC and would like to thank the club for welcoming us! The stadium and pitch look fantastic, which we hope will suit our style of play. We know a lot of fans are missing watching live football so I hope they will come along this weekend in force and help us continue our run in the FA Cup.”

Kick-off on Sunday is scheduled for 2:00pm and admission for this FA Cup tie is priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions with both cash and card accepted. Hornchurch Stadium (Bridge Avenue, Upminster, RM14 2LX) is a short walk from Upminster Bridge Station on the District Line or a ten-minute walk from Upminster station which also has c2c rail services from London and Essex.
