HELPING FAMILIES ENJOY FOOTBALL AT HOME The ‘homemade waste pipe goal’. Waste pipes, push-fit knuckle bends and some barrier fencing. It doesn’t seem like much, but sometimes it’s all you need to transform your garden into a proper footy pitch.

A word from the Gaffer

JOBI McANUFF THE MANAGER

“I’m buzzing. I’m really looking forward to the challenge. I just want to get the place going again and get moving.”

WIN AGAINST GRIMSBY

“It’s been a busy few days. The boys have been first class and so have the staff. A win is a win and I’m delighted to get off to a winning start.”

DEFEAT TO EXETER

“I think we saw the difference between a really good side at this level and one that hasn’t been good enough at times. From front to back, we were nowhere near it. We all have to take responsibility and be better.”

“I JUST WANT TO GET THE PLACE GOING AGAIN AND GET MOVING” 05

Captain’s column

CRAIG CLAY THE GAFFER

“It’s been good, and it’s been intense. In training, he has been on it. He wants 110% in training and games. We know, despite him being our teammate for four years, there is that line now. Of course, we can have a laugh, but he is the Gaffer now and there is that line that you can’t cross.”

WEARING THE ARMBAND

“It’s always nice, it’s always an honour to wear the armband. I’m not as vocal as Jobi was but I like to think that I lead by example. I give 110% every time I train, or I play. I’m close with all of the group so, I hope that’s a good thing. Like the Gaffer says, we need five or six leaders in the team!”

“I LIKE TO THINK THAT I LEAD BY EXAMPLE. I GIVE 110% EVERY TIME I TRAIN, OR I PLAY” STEVENAGE

“Saturday was not good enough. There were words in the changing rooms and none of us were happy. It’s a massive chance for us to play at home, put a performance together and bounce back against Stevenage.”

JAMIE TURLEY +++++ BACK IN THE TEAM

“I am over the moon. I didn’t really expect to get into the team under the previous manager, but I was always available if I was needed. I’ve kept myself in the best shape I could and against Grimsby I wanted to show that. Saturday wasn’t good enough, but personally the only way for me to get back to match fitness, is playing games.”

THE REST OF THE SEASON

“Our goal is the play-offs. We have to win as many games as we can. I know it seems tough but there is a clear focus that play-offs is our target. If we are to fall short, we want to make sure we’re doing the right things. There will be no excuses. Personally, I just want to play and see what I can do. Under a new manager it seems like it is a clean slate for a lot of people.”

CAPTAIN TO GAFFER, JOBI MCANUFF

“I’m looking forward to it. He is the right man for the job. He is a natural leader. It’s a shame we can’t have him on the pitch because of his quality but he is the manager now – we all want to work hard for him. I’m really looking forward to the remaining games.”

NEWPORT COUNTY TRIP SWITCHED TO CARDIFF CITY STADIUM

LEYTON ORIENT’S SCHEDULED TRIP TO NEWPORT COUNTY WILL SEE THE FIXTURE SWITCHED VENUE AND PLAYED AT THE CARDIFF CITY STADIUM. At its meeting today, the EFL Board granted a dispensation to Newport County to play their next two home fixtures away from Rodney Parade. This came following a request from the Club to aid the recovery of the Rodney Parade pitch, which has been severely impacted after the recent inclement weather and to leave it in the optimum condition ahead of the final games of the season. As a result, Newport County’s upcoming Sky Bet League Two fixtures against Bradford City (9 March) and Leyton Orient (20 March) will be played at the Cardiff City Stadium.

E10 NEWS GI PRINT EAST STAND TO BE RENOVATED

OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS, THE CLUB HAVE BEEN LIAISING WITH THE LOCAL AUTHORITY, WALTHAM FOREST BOROUGH COUNCIL TO APPOINT A CONTRACTOR TO CONDUCT ESSENTIAL WORK REQUIRED TO OUR GIPRINT EAST STAND. The main project that will commence in the coming weeks will be the replacement of the entire roof, excluding our famous gabel and essential repair work to the main structure of the stand. This extensive work will enable us to upgrade lighting and sound quality within the stand. In addition, we will make some improvements to the concourse and washroom areas. We very much expect the work to conclude well in advance of the start of 2021/22 season.

ORIENT’S PARTNERSHIP WITH SIDEMEN “We snapped at the opportunity to support a local club, especially during a pandemic.”

27

WE UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF WELLBEING IN THE WORKPLACE Our goal is to use our platform and experience to extend the conversation on wellbeing and mental health outside of our organisation and beyond. We hope that by having these conversations we can empower others to bring about positive change, and can learn from our community as we continue our own journey.
