A711: YOUTH CAMP EXCHANGE

District Chair Lion Sandy Heeralal- Judhan has started our involvement with Lions Youth Exchange in our District. We are partnering with District A2 using their camp facilities and our district will be hosting four students from around the world. We need your Lions Club support by your donations to this Youth Camp Exchange program. We have two students from Nepal, one from India and one from Turkey. Please send your donations to District Treasurer Lion Wayne Hoey and thank you for fostering the spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.

District A711 Youth Exchange and Camp Program 2015-2016 District A711 Youth Exchange and Camp Program 2015-2016 will be hosting four (4) Incoming Youths aged 16 to 22. This Program needs approximately four thousand dollars ($4,000.00) to cover the cost of these Youths that we are currently processing. Arrival date: Host period 1: Camp: Host period 2: Departure:

June 25th 2016 June 25th to July 12th 2016 (17 days) July 12th to July 21st 2016 (10 days) Camp Wetaskiwin (Thorold, St Catherine, ON) July 21st to July 23rd 2016 (3 days) July 23rd 2016

Clubs or members can lend support by sponsoring lunches or dinners for one Youth or for all four Youths. This will help to alleviate some of the financial responsibilities from the Host Families. The Hosted portion and the Camp portion of this program have scheduled activities which will be implemented by our Lions Councillors. The Youth Exchange and Camp Program is an amazing experience for the young people. They have an opportunity to visit our beautiful country and experience our diverse cultures and traditions. They are able to engage with young people from other countries in an entirely different setting. They learn about the Spirit of Lionism, which they take back to their homeland. “We learnt to think not about the world but with the world”, quote from one of the Exchange Youth from last year’s program. Other activities will include visit to CN Tower, Niagara Falls, ziplining, jet boat cruise, Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, and Team building activities. For more information and to lend support please contact: District A711 Youth Exchange Program Chair RC Lion Sandy Heeralal-Judhan Email: sdevih@hotmail.com Contact#: 647 -628 -8300 or 416 -534 -9189

WOODBRIDGE LIONS: PAINTING PARTY

Region Chair Lion Yves Drouin arranged for 20 painters from Sherwin Williams to come out to the den of the Woodbridge Lions and have a painting party. These painters were all Sherwin Williams managers who were taking a managers training course for the past week and provided their time to help the Lions of Woodbridge. Lion Peter Wixon and George St. Amand were thrilled that their club house got a fresh look to it. As District Governor I had the honor and pleasure of presenting a 45 year Chevron award pin to Lion George St. Amand for his Lions service.
