ow Lake equestrian centre must have ordered the weather for their October Trophy Show as it could not have been more pleasant, a beautiful balmy autumn weekend. Saturday started off with an overload of cute factor as some of the tiniest dressage riders and their ponies performed a number of really sweet and accurate tests, and it was not all down to their leaders there was a lot of input from the little riders too. First to go in the Lead rein class was autumn allen, who was celebrating her fourth birthday and she was placed fourth in her class. The Lead rein class was won by evie cox who was riding Lily Plum, and although on the lead rein, she rode a very independent test gaining a well-deserved 71.74%. ella cassidy with brian finished second with a score of 70.43%. despite all the cuteness from class 1 the remaining classes did not disappoint with some beautifully executed tests and the photographer was experiencing a certain amount of “horse envy”! The Overall winner of class 2, Intro a was Tracy Wells and Paddy with a score of 71.74% and the junior winner was eleanor Smith with rushmore benson II, their score of 68.70% also placed them third Overall. The winner of the restricted section was jaime Terrill riding elmhurst midnight Star. class 3, Prelim 4 was won by Victoria Freer and robin Hill with a score of 68.41%, which also made her the winner of restricted section. The junior winner was becky Horwood and Primrose, who
also finished third Overall and third in the restricted section. The first day of competition drew to a close with Lauren burrows and charlie winning the Prelim 13 with a beautifully ridden test, which gained an impressive score of 79.17%, a mark which also saw them head the junior section. First in the restricted section was amy Turner riding Follyfoot Splodge, a combination which also broke in to the 70s with a score of 73.75%. as the sunset over the arena at 6.00p.m the day came to a close.
Day Two
Sunday’s competition started with some incredibly well performed pairs tests, with the horses so close that there was an accompanying sound of clinking stirrups and strides that were so well matched it appeared that there was only one horse being ridden with a rider with two heads. This class was won by adele Shaw riding Gilda and di Williams riding Tamira with a score of 68.91%. The Prelim 7 test was strongly contested with joint overall first place being shared by Lauren burrows on charlie and amber collinson riding milly, who was also won the restricted. ella Leach and Pendleys Shining Star scored 74.81% to win novice 24, taking the junior section too. The weekend drew to a very satisfying close with the last competitor of the day, ruth Sturgess and drummer being the winner of the Pick a Level with a score of 71.40%.
