NEWS Funnels support the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund The Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund (MDIRF) is delighted to welcome legendary equestrians, William and Pippa Funnell, as the latest high-profile Vice Presidents to lend their support to this small but significant Charity.
F
ounded by British Riding Instructor Anna Skippon, Baybee’s Riding School in Luxembourg offers summer riding camps in the beautiful Luxembourg countryside. Running throughout July and August the camps offer children aged seven and over the opportunity to enjoy a jam-packed week of riding, learning and fun. Children travelling alone can be collected from the airport, or why not consider making it a family holiday, with parents being able to stay in a nearby bed and breakfast. Some of you may know Baybee’s founder, Anna Skippon, as she grew up and competed regularly in East Sussex before moving to Luxembourg seven years ago. www.baybeesridingschool.com
Pippa and William join other Charity VIPs, Founder of The Liverpool Horse Show & Bolesworth International Nina Barbour, ITN News presenter Alastair Stewart, International Showjumpers Scott Brash, Nick Skelton and Olympic eventer Gemma Tattersall. The Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund is the only UK Charity that doesn’t just help injured riders; it helps anyone injured in a horse related accident where no other help is readily available. The Charity relies entirely on donations and support from the equestrian community to continue their invaluable work. www.mdirf.co.uk

When asked why they were keen to support the Charity by formal association, Pippa said: “William and I are both delighted to become Vice Presidents of MDIRF. We are passionate about our lives with our equine friends, but unfortunately accidents go with the industry. The work of MDIRF really can make a difference to supporting injured riders and their families to raising awareness and campaigning on safety issues within the industry.”

Windmill Feedstore & Saddlery Here to Stay The Windmill Feeds feedstore and saddlery at Cross in Hand, were previously under threat of closure as the result of their site’s previous owners looking to develop the property. The branch based near Heathfield in East Sussex is no longer under the threat of closure after the owners of Windmill Feeds permanently secured ownership of the site. Speaking after the successful purchase, Martin Hook said: “It’s great news on several fronts, the entrance to the property can now be improved so that the visibility is better as you enter and exit the site, it has secured employment in the local area for the staff who work on the site and it has staved off the possibility of customers having to travel further to buy their pet food, animal feed or saddlery items. The staff at both the feedstore and the saddlery will continue to offer great service and advice, whether it’s about feeding your animals, your pets, or any equestrian needs for you and your horse.” If you want to find out more about what Windmill Feeds & Saddlery can offer you, your pets or your animals please visit www.windmillfeeds.co.uk

How Hoof Proof are your feet? Has your horse made a good impression on you? If not, you are one of the lucky ones. Of all accidents at the stables foot injuries are by far the most common. It all happens in a flash of a second, often resulting in, at best a bruise and at worst, a broken toe. Yet wearing properly constructed boots with toe protection would eliminate most of the risks. Boots made to the correct safety standards can withstand a compression in excess of 1000 kilo, which is more than the weight of most horses. Feel safe and comfortable with Equitector long and short boots. www.equitector.com
